Our room was very spacious! Especially considering we got the most affordable option. The roof top bar was beautiful although a bit overpriced. The staff was all very kind and we felt safe as two young female travelers. 12pm checkout was so nice compared to the now typical 10am checkout in the U.S. The breakfast was delicious, we only opted for it on our last morning and were very pleased especially given the price. The location was great, very lively and walkable. Not too noisy at night but you can’t have it all! We preferred to be in a lively neighborhood over a quiet one.
Cons: The beds weren’t comfortable and the A/C was very weak. We slept hot even with it on the maximum setting.

Cons: My wife's golden ear rings mysteriously disappeared from our room. When we told this to the staff (both receptionist and manager), they were rude and didn't take it seriously. After a follow up phone call we made with them, we haven't heard anything since. Very disappointing.

Cons: There was a bunch of ants in my room, the front desk didn’t do anything to address my concern, didn’t acknowledge my frustration, didn’t show any empathy, didn’t propose to change me to another room, didn’t find another solution, and was just thinking about making me pay for the extras I had during my stay. That’s a shame for a 4 star hotel, that night agent isn’t properly trained, it’s not his fault the ants were in my room, but he could have handled the situation much better, he was just unbothered, unfazed… again, for a 4 star hotel this is lame, this is unacceptable… I left my room at midnight and as no solution was proposed, at 1am I was already in another hotel. You guys should check if there is something underneath the bed of room 607, or maybe the joints of the room need to be fixed or I don’t know… I paid 270€ for that room and for what… didn’t have my last breakfast, didn’t stay at the hotel the second night, was treated poorly…

Everything was truly wonderful — the location, the breakfast, and especially the attentiveness of the staff. I sincerely appreciate the warm hospitality I experienced throughout my stay. Great location very central and close to the line 1 metro stop. The room is nice and large with a balcony overlooking the main street giving you that sense of being in amongst it. Staff are very friendly and always willing to assist if needed.
Cons: While none of these are showstoppers there are a couple of things that could be improved even if they are minor: 1. Front doors of most rooms are difficult to open and close as they are dragging along the floor. Need to give them a real push to open and close. 2. This seems to be the breakfast trend on the Iberian peninsula it seems but it would be fantastic if buffet breakfast selection could include some fresh vegetables as well. Buffet was good overall however personally I would have loved to see some cucumbers, tomatoes and avocado on the menu as well. I didn't go hungry by any means but fresh veggies would have been nice. 3. Water pressure in the sink and the shower could be improved. On the topic of shower and toilets as well when the hotel is up for a renovation please close off the bathroom within its own separate room. While the open plan shower and toilet might have seemed like a nice thing 10 years ago, today they just give me anxiety that I'm gonna set off the fire alarm every time I have a shower.

Great hotel, great location and the team were very friendly. I was able to check-in early which was a lovely touch and really helped with that days plans. The overall brand and vibe was exactly as I wanted it to be.
Cons: The mini bar in the room always annoys me. It would be better to offer these items from the reception and provide complementary snacks, which is a much nicer touch. My visit was out of season, so I understand, but the pool rooftop bar being closed was a disappointment.

Después de nuestra estancia en el Axel Madrid, solo podemos decir que repetiremos sin duda. El hotel está perfectamente ubicado en el Barrio de las Letras, a pocos minutos andando de Atocha, el Prado, Retiro y Chueca. Todo es accesible a pie, ideal para moverse sin transporte público. La habitación era moderna, muy bien decorada y cómoda (cama excelente). El baño es amplio y con muy buena ducha. Todo estaba impecable y con detalles que marcan la diferencia. También destacamos el gimnasio (pequeño pero bien equipado). El personal es muy amable, profesional y siempre dispuesto a ayudar. Nos sentimos muy bien atendidos desde el check-in hasta la salida. En resumen: hotel con mucho estilo, excelente ubicación y un ambiente inclusivo y relajado. Perfecto tanto para parejas como para escapadas en solitario o con amigos. Recomendado 100 %. Volveremos seguro.

Nice room, excellent location very close to the Anton Martin Metro, Sol (10 mins) and a variety of interesting restaurants and small grocery shops. Excellent buffet breakfast with lots of choice. It was also within easy walking distance of the Prado in one direction and the Royal Palace in the other, probably 10-15 minutes to each one.
Cons: It's a bit of a hack from the airport by public transport - I allowed an hour and a half using three different Metro lines. It's not a complaint. It's part of the adventure.

Cons: Sadly there was issues with our suite so we got downgraded. The rooms aesthetic was extremely different to the room we had booked. No private area for the bathroom, all in the same room with semi frosted glass doors and lace curtains, not the style of room I would have booked. Broken lights in the room which did get fixed after calling reception. Also broken TV with zero channels and no ability to sync your smart phone to mirror or stream music etc.

I had an internal room with a interior balcony so even with the window/door open there was no breeze. They could also do with a towel rail and/or a few extra hooks in the bathroom - now I'm being picky. The drawers in the cabinet did not open smoothly - picky also

Great gay hotel in fantastic location near Plaza de Santa Ana, and the funky Las Letras and Latina districts, both of which have great restaurants and bars. Had a lovely quiet room at the back of the hotel with a comfortable enormous bed. Breakfasts were very good and the staff friendly. Rooftop pool looked like it would be perfect in summer.

I had a fantastic stay at Axel Hotel. The location couldn’t be better — right in the city center, so we were able to walk everywhere easily. At check-in, the receptionist surprised us with a free room upgrade, which made our stay even better. The room was amazing and beautifully decorated. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and the hotel has great amenities. The gym was really nice, and the breakfast was quite good. I also loved the inclusive atmosphere: it’s an LGBTQ-focused hotel, but we also saw heterosexual couples, which made it feel open, relaxed, and welcoming to everyone.
Cons: The only downside was that the lavatory area had a sewer-like smell coming from the drain. Since the bathroom was an open-style space rather than a separate room, the smell spread into the bedroom a bit. It wasn’t unbearable, but definitely noticeable.

I had a great stay at Axel Hotel Madrid. The room was spacious, elegant, and perfectly maintained. The classic details and large mirrors give the space a lot of character, and the freestanding bathtub adds a refined touch. The bed was very comfortable, making it easy to fully relax. Efficient service and a pleasant atmosphere throughout. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you so much.

Cons: I paid for upgrade - i was given the most basic room. The staff said i had the upgrade but that was not true. Lady at breakfast. Lovely. But did not listen to how i wanted my tea. She just gave me a glass full to the brim of warm water and the tea bag inside. Not a great way to start the morning. The food tasted like dish soap (all the fake bacon. The eggs. The glasses.... Tasted.as if soap had been left on them) the banging on the walls and doors by the rough cleaners. You can hear EVERYTHING from the rooms..

Cons: The toilet was in the room and it properly separated . This is awful. The curtains that divide the room provide annoyance with no benefit. The layout of kettle had no relation to plugs and so furniture needed to be moved around. (The first room (R5) we were given had no window to let in light and was accessed through a smoking area. It was dark, and the toilet was not separated from the bedroom properly. The bath water was brown. The staff were responsive and arranged for us to change rooms the next day when a good room was available)

Enviei uma mensagem para o booking falando do aniversário e perguntando o que eles tinham para oferecer na data específica, foi respondido para passar o e-mail pessoal , eu enviei e não tive mais retorno. Como não tive o retorno , marquei outras coisas especiais para fazer para ele. Pelo standard do hotel, que é o mesmo standard que passamos os últimos anos, achei que deixaram a desejar.

The location and the boutique style decor. The hotel is within easy walking distance from the main galleries and museums. In the area are a wide range of bars and restaurants, and shopping options. It couldn't be more well located. The decor is modern, a bit gothic and fun. It is the opposite of corporate design. While it may not appeal to everyone, I enjoyed the funkiness of the decor.
Cons: The skybar was closed, understandably as it was a quiet season but I did enjoy the view from the rooftop.

It was a great hotel, fantastic location and the staff were lovely. The room came equipped with everything you needed and was very spacious. We loved the sky bar and rooftop pool. Beautiful views of the city.
Cons: The bed was very firm and we didn't find that comfortable. The shower door didn't close properly, there was a slight gap so when you had a shower it leaked onto the floor.

Cons: The bathroom in my first room had a moldy ceiling, and during the night water started pouring out. They did however change my room to a different one (from 314 to 302) but the new one was too close to the elevators which you could hear. They did offer me a free drink in the bar the next day to make up for this though . I’d also like to note that I thought the noise complaints would be over rated, but the truth is that both rooms I had were to the indoor patio and at times this was noisy

Non abrebbero dovuto affittare la camera che ci han dato in quanto sapevano delle infiltrazioni di acqua dallo scarico della doccia del piano superiore, ci hanno spostato su richiesta in un'altra camera dove non era stato acceso il riscaldamento (27 dicembre). La ventola di riscaldamento l'abbiamo poi spenta per dormire a causa della.rumorosita', quindi la.notte e' stata frizzante. Per il.disguido ci hanno poi spostato l'indomani nella suite che si era liberata (grande ma stile classico rispetto alla paericolarita' delle camere)

Abbiamo soggiornato a Madrid per due notti e l’esperienza è stata nel complesso molto positiva. La posizione dell’hotel è davvero ottima: centralissima, comoda per visitare la città a piedi e ben collegata con tutti i mezzi pubblici. Il personale è stato gentile e disponibile fin dal nostro arrivo e abbiamo apprezzato molto il calice di vino di benvenuto, un dettaglio piacevole che ci ha fatto sentire accolte. All’ingresso dell’hotel c’è un bar: è piuttosto piccolo, ma molto grazioso e curato. Sotto l’hotel si trova un club, quindi il sabato sera c’era parecchia gente in zona, ma fortunatamente il rumore non ci ha disturbato durante la notte. La camera era spaziosa e confortevole, anche se la disposizione del bagno è un po’ particolare: non c’è un bagno tradizionale, il lavandino si trova all’ingresso sulla sinistra, la doccia è trasparente (aspetto che può risultare imbarazzante se non si viaggia in coppia) e il WC è separato. Un piccolo aspetto da segnalare riguarda l’arrivo in hotel con Uber: essendo in pieno centro, alcune strade vengono chiuse e l’accesso può risultare un po’ complicato, ma alla fine siamo riuscite comunque ad arrivare senza grossi problemi.

The hotel is in a great location, and we really appreciated being allowed both an early check-in and a late check-out, which made our stay much more convenient.
Cons: We experienced several issues during our stay. The TV in our room wasn’t working properly and kept turning off every five minutes for no reason. It took two replacements, and the problem was only resolved on the third day. We also had a faulty kettle that wouldn’t switch off, which felt quite unsafe. Although it was replaced, it was still concerning to have such equipment in the room. Additionally, while having drinks at the hotel bar on the ground floor, there was a very unpleasant smell that made the experience uncomfortable.

L’emplacement et l’accueil sont top. Même en saison basse et sans le RoofTop (Novembre) l’hôtel est animé et accueillant. La suite est juste magnifique, super bien décorée et agréable.
Cons: Quelques tout petits détails mais qui comparé à la prestation proposée sont insignifiants : la porte pour accéder à la chambre coince avec le sol, la baignoire n’est pas fixé donc impossible de s’assoir sur le rebord, et du fait il manque une assise dans la salle de bain.

Cons: The rooms layout was horrible, bathroom in front of the bed, no privacy, seethrough shower with a tiny black sheer curtain. Skybar in the rooftop was closed, gym was just a tiny room with 3 machines. The hotel lobby had this weird sewer-like smell, almost like there was a problem with the pipes.

La ubicación es excepcional muy centrica y con un metro cerca. El personal de rececpción y limpieza fueron exelentes y muy amables. El diseño del hotel es moderno y con mucho gusto.
Cons: La habitación 205 era pequeña y complicada de moverte ya que tenía un mueble bar de poco difícil uso en el medio. El lavabo tenia poca intimidad ya que estaba junto a una gran ventana que daba al patio interior dicha ventana no se podía cubrir con la cortina o por otro medio. Con lo que se me podía ver aseándome desde el gimnasio del hotel o las habitaciones vecinas.

Cons: Il nostro soggiorno all’Axel Hotel Madrid è stato ben al di sotto delle aspettative e totalmente inadatto a un hotel che si definisce a 4 stelle. Già al check-in abbiamo avuto la prima sorpresa: ci sono state richieste e registrate tutte le informazioni della carta di credito “nel caso non pagassimo eventuali consumazioni”. Una pratica che considero invasiva, poco professionale e assolutamente non in linea con gli standard di un hotel di questa categoria. Una volta entrati in camera, la delusione è stata ancora più grande: stanza minuscola (circa 10 m²), decisamente non corrispondente alla prenotazione fatta tramite Booking. La porta della doccia non si chiudeva, l’acqua invadeva metà della stanza, i telai erano gonfi per l’umidità, il riscaldamento completamente fuori uso e mancavano perfino le ciabatte, presenti invece nella descrizione della prenotazione. In generale, l’aspetto ricordava più una camera mal tenuta di un ostello piuttosto che quella di un 4 stelle. Abbiamo segnalato immediatamente la situazione alla reception, dove siamo stati accolti con un atteggiamento poco cortese e quasi infastidito, come se le nostre lamentele fossero fuori luogo, quando in realtà si trattava di problemi gravissimi per la struttura e per il prezzo pagato. Ci è stato promesso che tutto sarebbe stato risolto — promessa completamente disattesa. La sera abbiamo trovato solo un paio di ciabatte in più, nient’altro: né riscaldamento, né doccia sistemata. Il giorno successivo abbiamo nuovamente insistito e siamo rientrati la sera trovando la stessa situazione, identica. Solo dopo aver minacciato di contattare Booking e di aprire una segnalazione ufficiale hanno deciso di cambiarci la camera. La nuova stanza era chiaramente migliore e più grande, finalmente all’altezza di un 3 stelle — ma comunque lontana dall’idea di un 4 stelle per servizi, manutenzione e comfort. La pulizia giornaliera è stata molto superficiale, fatta frettolosamente, senza cura per i dettagli.

Cons: Absolut mieses Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Völlig überteuert für angeblich 4 Sterne. Fürchterliche Zimmer-Einrichtung. Dunkel, fast nur Schwarz, eng, klein, kein natürliches Licht, fast keine angemessene Ausstattung, keine Lobby (quasi nur ein zugiger Durchgang), deprimierende Gänge zu den Zimmern wegen grässlichem Licht. Man fühlte sich - mit Verlaub - beinahe wie im Puff. Wenig hilfsbereites Personal, da kein vorab Check-In möglich war und dann die zugesagten Zeit nicht eingehalten wurde. Sehr unangenehm Gäste, die zT ungezügeltes Verhalten zeigten/äußerten. Insgesamt: Für 2 Übernachtungen fast 1.000 Euro unter solchen Umständen gezahlt zu haben, reut es uns sehr, und wir haben vergleichbar schlechte Erfahrungen noch nie gemacht.

Cons: Precio elevado para sólo alojamiento estando el hotel muy vacío, creo que debieran promover más el tema desayuno, y sería un atractivo más, y no cobrarlo como un servicio extra que debido a su coste echa para atrás. No pudimos disfrutar tampoco del local de abajo ya que no abre entre semana.

The hotel was very well located with easy access to various parts of the city. The room was very clean, I had requested a room on a high floor, and this was granted (thank you). The room was huge, it was almost like a 1 bedroom suite as the toilet and shower were separate to the sleeping/sitting area. The hotel is located in the LGBTQI area of Madrid, so it was perfect for my fiancée and I, and it granted a safe space. It is a hotel that markets for people of this community, which is wonderful to see. We didn't have breakfast, but you can take up this option. All in all, great hotel, great location, great room. I would consider this hotel again if I return to Madrid.
Cons: The bed was a bit hard as the mattress was quite firm, but other than that, nothing.

Cons: The bed was rock-hard, to the point where we barely slept. The hotel were able to provide a mattress topper from the second day onwards, (not sure why they aren’t already provided as standard) which was an improvement but the bed was still uncomfortable. Easily the worst bed I’ve experienced in a hotel, ever. The majority of staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, but there was one guy that was quite off for some reason, to the point of ignoring us every time we said hello.

6 night business trip and weekend. First time staying outside of Cheuca. I paid for the larger room in the newer section rear of hotel, they’re also the ambulant rooms. All staff were friendly and lovely with no issues. Mini bar was well stocked. It was great October weather so every afternoon was by pool in the glorious sunshine. The hotel Is hetro friendly but most of the guest seemed to be retired Dutch & Germans so. It quite the vibe I was expecting LOL The only BAD thing about this hotel is the room door numbers, a mannequin hand that stabs you as the door closes. I’m a body builder and had huge bruises for a week so take care. 😀 I would stay here again.
