L'emplacement, pas loin du métro et de la gare. La taille de la chambre, et la qualité des petits déjeuners, même s'ils ne sont pas compris dans la chambre.

Cons: The pool area was lovely but we were surrounded by smokers which was a bit unpleasant so we didn't stay for long and didn't use the pool area the following day.

Sin duda la decoración y la comodidad del hotel con su piscina en la azotea como protagonista. Siempre que vamos a Madrid procuramos alojarnos aquí.

Diego was absolutely brilliant, he gave us a free upgrade and was very attentive during our stay. The Sky bar staff were fantastic and very accommodating too. A safe space for queers in the heart of Madrid!

Stuff was friendly, room service worked perfectly. I really love location of the hotel, by foot anywhere in the city center just 5-15 minutes. Rooftop bar has good value of money. Breakfast was delicious instead one small thing.
Cons: Unfortunately our door was opening tight. Stuff was good and friendly but they didnt fix our problem with the door and didnt give as another room. Breakfast was good, but i didnt like that it was no vegetables at all. Pool was too small, on pictures it was bigger. So thats the reason why 8 of 10.

La ubicación, el trato del personal, la habitación, la piscina.
Cons: Solo destacaría dos cosas, una la presión del agua era muy justa y era molesto y uno del empleados cuando estábamos en la piscina, habíamos movido un poco la hamaca sin interrumpir el paso ni nada para estar con mi pareja juntos, si nos nos tocaba estar por separado y cuando estábamos tan a gusto tomando el sol nos dijo de mala manera que nos levantásemos y lo colocásemos como estaban. El resto del personal perfecto.

The stuffs is a mix of really nice ones, with some doesn't give a s...All this manageable, but the worst when did my check out I left my luggage, when I came back to pick it up I realised that I have forgotten an item inside the room, so I asked for the girl in the reception, I was in shock when she said she didn't have access to the lost property 🤷♂️ and she couldn't fo anything. Is just so annoying, because the hardest thing would be I remember that I left something behind before I left the town, but since I remembered it, would just be quite easy to solve the issue.

Axel Hotel Madrid was the perfect place to stay after the Gay Games. The location is excellent, with Chueca, Gran Vía and plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés all within easy walking distance. The room was modern, clean and comfortable, the rooftop pool was a great place to unwind, and the staff were always friendly and welcoming. The hotel has a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere that made us feel at home, and it was an excellent base for exploring Madrid.
Cons: Nothing at all. We had no bad experiences during our stay and everything met or exceeded our expectations.

The hotel is in an ideal location in the center of central Madrid, within walking distance to museums, restaurants, the Palace and Cathedral, and by car about 30 minutes from the airport. Room was large and clean. Rooftop pool and bar were welcome and fun.

J’ai été surclassé dans une suite magnifique ! Bien équipé, confortable, seul bémol le vis à vis qui oblige à garder les rideaux fermé pour un peu d’intimité(mais c’est un détails) Le personnel accueillant et chaleureux. Le rooftop avec une très belle vue, une piscine permettant de se rafraîchir malgré sa taille.

The location is fantastic, the hotel is very clean, the staff were amazing and the rooms are a great size. Plus they have some of the best facilities for a hotel in the city centre with a pool, gym, bar, club and rooftop.
Cons: The staff were great and the room was lovely but there was an issue with the airconditioning. They had tried to fix it before I arrived but they forgot to have house keeping come back and clean up the floor which wasnt an issue they then came and cleaned the floor. But the aircon was leaking in the bathroom the whole time meaning the first day `I came back there was a huge pool of water on the floor. The next couple of days I couldnt have the air con on as It would drip constantly on the bathroom floor. It was quite hot in the end and I needed to put a bin under it so I could run the aircon for a while to cool the room and then turn it off so it didnt flood the bathroom. Not intentional but when its 38 degrees in Madrid it wasnt ideal

Nice to enjoy again the friendly and fun vibe of the Axel hotels. The room was not big but nicely set up with a comfortable bed. It's very cool to have a rooftop swimming pool with a bar.
Cons: My room on the patio did not offer any privacy once you open the dark curtains to see the daylight and was a bit loud when guests were talking downstairs — the international TV channels were mostly not working.

Cons: The curtains aren't very attractive, although they do an excellent job of blocking out the light. The breakfast is a bit basic.

Optimaler Poolbereich und Bar, einfach etwas stiefmütterlich unterhalten. Zimmereinrichtung in unserem Zimmer absolut unvorteilhaft. Für 2 Reisende mit Koffern kein Platz und überall steht irgendetwas dekoratives herum was mehr stört, denn nützt.

Axel Hotel is situated in the centre of Madrid. It is surrounded by a busy community of bars, restaurants & shops. The area is lively with narrow streets & beautiful buildings. It is within walking distance of the art galleries Prado & Sofia, Retiro Park, the Museum of Archeology. The Bernabeu is also only an hour away on foot & is worth a wander. As for the hotel, like everything, it has both positives & negatives. Firstly the staff. Whilst we didn't interact much with the staff as we were out all day. When we did, they were all friendly, helpful, polite & happy to support you. Morning breakfast service was pretty good. Again, the staff were great & there was a good selection of breads, cereal, fruit, eggs, meat & pastries. No complaints at all. We had two rooms. One double, one twin single. The double was just an average size, not the biggest, but fine. It had a shower, with a clear glass door. Why? Also a toilet with a frosted glass door & the sink was in the hallway/corridor. Due to the arrangement of the room, with the bed not facing the utilities, how the services were fitted was not much of a problem. In the twin single room however, it really was a issue. A twin single implies those staying in the room are not romantically together. In this instance it was brother & sister. The beds faced the toilet & shower with nothing to aid privacy. Again, the shower was clear glass & the toilet was floor to ceiling frosted glass. This was not acceptable, I'm afraid. I am really confused about the modern trend for fitting bathroom suites in hotels without the necessary privacy. Why do hotels think brothers/sisters/friends want to watch those they're staying with shower or go to the toilet? The hotel has a wonderful rooftop bar & pool with plenty of loungers. It is a lovely space. However, it pumped out dance music all day & night which really was not to our taste. I tried to read & chill a couple of times up their, but the music just really stressed me out. So, unfortunately, we didn't really utilise the space. I have to caveat my comments on the roof terrace. I'm not too sure I'm their target audience. Everyone else seemed to have absolutely no problems at all. I love to read & this was not a space catered to those who wanted a bit of peace & quiet. Which is absolutely fine. Taking everything into consideration, we did enjoy staying in the Axel Hotel. It had a great atmosphere, the staff all had a smile on their faces & were friendly & helpful. Apects of the rooms & the noise on the roof terrace did let it down. However, we did enjoy our stay.

Very central location, there is a roof bar & pool and a gym all available to guests. It felt secure and the beds where comfy, one thing we did notice that unlike other places we have stayed we where not aware of any noise from rooms surrounding us. The staff where lovely and we liked the sweets and water available at reception.
Cons: The air con was either not working or very low circulation, we didn't notice until our last night as this was the hottest, but due to the room being over the lobby area it was too noisy to keep the window open., we didnt report this to reception as we checked out the next day. One more thing I would like to recommend to the hotel is when using the bar and other services, they ask for not only the room number but the surname of the lead guest. When we went to check out someone had added two wines from the roof top bar to our room bill, this wasn't us as we pay as we go along to avoid heavy bills at the end of our stay.

The location is great; love the LGBT+ ethos (without others feeling unwelcome) and it's a very 'design forward' environment. Breakfast is good value for money and the rooftop bar is a lovely place to be, sand the staff there are just lovely.
Cons: Decor getting a little bit tired in places. I found the bed exceptionally hard and didn't sleep well as a result. The pool is minuscule - really just to stand in to cool off. There isn't really a lounge area apart from a library adjacent to the gym.

The rooftop is such a gem in a hot city that is not by the sea. The room was very spacious as well. It’s not the nicest place I ever stayed in, but decent for Madrid.
Cons: The place overall was clean, but they don’t care so much about the details e.g not cleaned inside the closet, I had to wipe it cause it was dusty. The curtain was a bit loose, the shower hose was leaking, there was hair inside the drawers etc. Also the room was quite dark, cause it faced a backyard. Also, I was a bit disappointed as the place seems more designed for gays than for queers overall.

E é possível caminhar até alguns pontos de interesse, como museu do Prado e Reina Sofia. O quarto tem espaço razoável e a decoração diferente. A cama é bem confortável. O chuveiro é bom. O café da manhã é bom. A piscina fica no rooftop, onde há também um bar. A vista de lá é muito boa.
Cons: Há frigobar abastecido, mas a equipe não reabastece após o consumo. Por exemplo, ao consumir 2 garrafas de água sem gás no primeiro dia, não houve reposição até o término da estadia.

It was located in a great neighborhood with lots of restaurants within a 5 min walk. The room was very clean and comfortable. I liked the Modern design overall.
Cons: It wasn’t a problem for me, but in some situations the glass shower and toilet area might not be for everyone. Just make sure you are comfortable with the person staying in the room with you.

Cons: I thought that the rooms were dark and that the color scheme was unpleasant- jet black. The lighting was awkward and light switches were hard to find. The first time I came into my room, I literally had to use the light on my cell phone to find the light switches for the room. Things were done very deliberately. The lighting. This placement of light switches. The darkness of the rooms. All of this was carefully thought out, but the thinking was clearly done by an idiot.. The Axel hotel chain has an excellent reputation, mostly for accommodating gay men. Once you look at the facilities themselves, I can't imagine why the hotels are well thought of. I can't imagine going back, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to friends.

Safety Hazard: I found multiple shards of glass on the room floor after stepping on them. When I brought the first 6 shards to the reception, the staff member immediately threw them in the trash to hide the evidence and claimed no other rooms were available. Poor Maintenance: The room had a broken chair and a faulty showerhead that sprayed water everywhere, making the bathroom difficult to use. 3. Fernando at the front desk and the lovely that accompanied him on both 12 and 13 May 2026, HAVE TO BE the nicest welcoming hotel staff I have encountered in a long time. It’s the old Spain - kind, caring and super professional people. Global standards in customer care and service have dropped so appallingly globally SADLY that I often find myself either not bothering to write because it was mediocre or, if I’m writing, I’m writing to blast the entity for completely awful customer service or attitude. IN THIS CASE, however, I shower Axel Madrid Hotel with the highest praise. Happy employees make happy customers. Fernando and the young lady at the front desk were completely focused on my enjoyment and comfort while at the hotel - and even when I was outside the property and the risk of rain had them offering me an umbrella. Just fantastic!!! Additionally, the breakfast staff and the food were stellar!

The night light was missing so in order to find our way at night we had to keep the light on the whole night. But on the other hand, every day we received a new packet of condoms. This was a bit surprising, since my husband and I had long since passed our seventies.

Unfortunately, the room was too small, and the same goes for the bed. It’s a nice concept, but it needs more space to really work. The bed is not suitable for two adults and isn’t comfortable for sleeping. The hot water in both the shower and the sink took far too long to warm up. The bathroom layout is also poorly designed sitting on the toilet is uncomfortable because your leg constantly hits the toilet paper holder. The breakfast area is very cramped. You have to be careful where you walk or turn to avoid knocking things over. In addition, the staff seemed overwhelmed, constantly running around making coffee, and at times there was no one available to let guests in, which is not acceptable. There is rooftop bar area with swimming pool , but no sitting are to enjoy a drink only beach chairs ..not every one wants to lay down on this ! Adding some normal chairs for th guest will be great and also people will wanna stay.

This is not my first time at this hotel, this time I was upgraded to a suite (which I have stayed in before). The room is huge and spacious with a bathtub and a shower and a nice work area and two large windows overlooking the street. . I also used the rooftop pool and the sunbed on the roof and at the bar and it was excellent. The reception staff was very polite and helpful. Especially the guy who checked me in. The Burger King nearby was a good solution for late-night hunger :)
Cons: I regret not being offered a free bottle of water in the room (I usually buy a six-pack of water for my entire stay but I arrived for one night and didn't have time). It was difficult to lock the window shutters (only the window itself closed). Also, in the past they would provide a free first drink at the bar and this time I didn't receive one. It's a shame there wasn't a coffee machine in the room, nor was there a quick solution for coffee (without breakfast), in the morning when I traveled. And , I haven't seen any vending machines either.

Perfect location! Walking distans to all the major museums, shopping and lots of restaurants and tapasbars just around the corner. Nice area with not only tourists but also local people walking their dogs. Hotel clean, fine breakfast and the roof terrace much appreciated!
Cons: The bed was really hard but we got extra bed madrasses, problem solved!

Die Lage vom Hotel ist perfekt. Man kann alles zu Fuß unternehmen und ist schnell sowohl in der Innenstadt als auch auf der Museumsmeile. Die Zimmer sind sehr stylish, lediglich der Platz für Kleidung und Koffer etwas begrenzt. Das Frühstück hat alles was man braucht inkl. frischen Säften und der Möglichkeit frische Eier zu bestellen. Wer hier ist, sollte in jedem Fall auch das Cabaret besuchen, das am Wochenende im Keller auftritt. Eine ganz tolle Show!
Cons: Vor der Toilette ist nur eine Glastür, die nicht richtig schließt. Der Pool ist eine kleine Bahn. Zur Erfrischung aber sehr angenehm. Poolbar und Zimmer-Service haben nicht viel für Vegetarier.

Cons: Sehr abgelebt und nicht sonderlich sauber gehalten. Dachterasse war nicht wie auf den Bildern - alles alt und schmutzig leider. Im Foyer haben Obdachlose geschlafen. Auch die Suite für den Preis sehr enttäuschend braucht dringend Renovierung!

Interesting hotel and decor, nice "backyard" patio, decent buffet breakfast, room decor very interesting with pay-for mini-bar providing lots of choice, location was very central (halfway between palace and railway station), rooftop bar great with amazing views, employees overall very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Room decor was unique, but very dark (all black walls a bit too much), cannot turn bathroom light on without turning on other lights, toilet area not very private unless door to entire bathroom/dressing area was shut yet the door scraped the floor so badly it made it impossible to close, maintenance person had to come check our TV and explained that no channels were available under channel 12 (should have been posted somewhere), very clever brand messaging was throughout the hotel, on employee attire, and on amenities yet felt that the gay-friendly messaging went a bit too far (instead of being more natural).

Our stay at Axel Hotel Madrid was a major disappointment, especially compared to our positive experiences at Axel hotels in Barcelona and Valencia during our week‑long trip to Spain. We stayed for three nights, and it ended up being the worst part of our entire Spain trip. The room we were assigned was small and on a lower floor right next to the gym, which turned out to be a terrible location. The noise was constant and unbearable, late at night from people lining up for the underground bar, and early in the morning from the gym. The treadmill noise on Sunday morning was especially disruptive, making it impossible to get any rest after a long journey. What made matters worse was the lack of support from the staff. When we first reported the issue, we spoke to a night staff member named Jose, who was extremely unprofessional. He showed little interest in helping me, barely acknowledged me, and simply said nothing could be done. When I asked about switching rooms, he dismissed the request, saying we could try again in the morning since no rooms were available which I understand, but responding while remaining seated, focused on his computer, and not engaging properly was unacceptable. The following day, we were woken up early on a Sunday morning by a terrible noise coming from the treadmill in the gym, and I raised the issue with a lady receptionist. She merely confirmed that the noise was coming from the gym—which was already obvious—and offered no real solution. I even suggested closing the gym windows to reduce the noise (which, by the way, never happened), as it felt like no effort was being made to address our concerns. We had to endure the noise from the gym until our checkout. Overall, the experience was frustrating and exhausting. We expected much better, especially given our positive stays at other Axel properties. Unfortunately, this stay at Axel Hotel Madrid did not meet our expectations, and we will not be returning.
