Our experience here was truly wonderful. The Riad felt like an oasis in the middle of Marrakech’s busy and crowded medina. The staff was exceptional, always kind, friendly, and ready to help with any request we had. Breakfast was excellent, with a different variety of delicacies every day. The location is also perfect: easily accessible by car and just a short walk from the entrance to the souk.

Besonders hervorheben möchten wir das aussergewöhnlich freundliche und zuvorkommende Personal – es wurden uns wirklich alle Wünsche erfüllt. Um die Klimaanlage waren wir froh Das Frühstück war hervorragend.

Cordialità del personale, cibo (colazione e cena) e ambiente ottimi! Spero tanto di tornare!

It was located near taxis.
Cons: All the sites we’ve misleading ! The pictures and video were not valid at all. For the price it should have been HALF. Would have left if we didn’t pay in advance. The staff seems bothered to assist or do their functions of running the riad. It seemed like there was about 5 young young guys randomly working there. Run down ! Not maintained, dirty. Dying plants, roof top disgusting Needs a refresh BADLY for the price their charging. Went to another riad in Fes for the same price or less and it was like heaven compared to this one. They should close down and get their act together. It’s in a very poor area in the Medina. Sad

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful & Peaceful Riad with Amazing Service – Just Be Mindful of Noise Inside We stayed at this riad for three nights and had a fantastic experience. The riad itself is absolutely stunning, with gorgeous traditional decor and a beautiful rooftop that was the perfect place to relax. We were dropped off by our taxi, which cost €30 for one way, which is quite expensive, however for peace of mind to be dropped off and escorted to the right place, it was worth it. We were welcomed with mint tea and shown round the riad and to our room. Our room was lovely—traditional in style, very clean, and well-equipped with a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a heater, making it ideal for any season. Housekeeping was excellent, with fresh towels and bedding provided daily, keeping the space spotless. The bathroom was gorgeous, and the sink was a dream! The breakfast was great and varied, with a lovely selection each morning to start the day. The reception staff were truly amazing—incredibly kind, welcoming, and always willing to help. They gave us great recommendations and even went above and beyond by helping us print off our boarding passes, which was a lifesaver since you need them at the airport. Their hospitality really made our stay even better. The location was great, about a 15-minute walk to the main souks, making it easy to explore the city. While it’s not inside the medina, the area was quiet and peaceful, with no outside noise or busy traffic. The shops near the riad were fantastic—much cheaper than those in the main souks and offering a great selection of items. Overall, we absolutely loved our time here and would love to return. If you’re looking for a beautiful, peaceful, and well-located riad with incredible service, this is a fantastic choice!
Cons: The only downside was that our room was right next to the front door, so we experienced some noise when guests returned late at night. Unfortunately, we had an inconsiderate neighbor who kept ringing the bell, stomping up the stairs, slamming doors, and shouting, which woke us up. This wasn’t the riad’s fault, but light sleepers may want to request a room further inside for a quieter stay.

Staff is their number 1 asset. Very accommodating and helpful with all your needs. I just wish they have a Whatsapp number where tourists can call or message them. Breakfast was okay. So many options to choose from.
Cons: 1) Location is few metres away from the main road. It’s kinda scary at night to be honest. Beggars and kids are following you asking for something at night. In my entire stay, I’m usually home by 7 pm. I only went home late once, the walk to the Riad was scary. 2) Do not stay on the lower ground rooms. I stayed in Bab Er-raha. The noisy guests will wake you up cos the common area is just across the room. You’ll also heear shouting kids outside the Riad. 3) Mattress and Pillow are not comfortable. Beddings were itchy. 4) No blow dryer. 5) Doesn’t feel homey at all. 6) No light in the shower area. You have to request for a candle. Not safe for old people.

Staff was excellent! All members of staff greeted us with warmth and took the extra step to provide help when needed. They were proactive in giving us suggestions with location, understanding costs, etc.
Cons: This was not a huge deal but we thought the rooms could use a bit of sound proofing as we felt the need to speak very softly at times. You could hear neighbors and they could hear us, which may be a privacy issue for some visitors.

Nice little riad, with a very traditional and elegant decor, without being too opulent or heavy, as some moroccan properties sometimes are. Everything is kept quite simple and the more local decor details are subdued by the use of whites and dark wood furniture, which adds a certain old colonial feeling. Staff are minimal but nice and efficient. Front desk guys do it all, and speak good english. Breakfast is very nice. Location is quiet and walkable (for a frequent traveller to Marrakesh is very convenient, for new travellers may be a little scary in the beguining, but once you find it's absolutely safe, you're more than OK, and with plenty of taxis nearby). The pool is very small but the patio is nice to relax, and the rooftop area is quite nice with two small turtles around. Spanish owners were not in the permisses (not in july, nor in april), but local staff is always in contact with them. You'll have to pay in cash or by previous bank transfer, because cards are not accepted.

What I enjoyed the most was the reception staffs, always very kind and informative, they are the real gem of the place.
Cons: This is my third trip to Marrakech and I have been to a number of Riads by now, this was the one for which I had the most expectations, which were not fully attended. The room was nice, but there is a lack of attention to details (for example the soap holder was full of dust) which for the price point I find hard to accept, same for the common areas, where I tried to take a book from a shelf and it was quite dusty. Do not get me wrong, If it’s your first time in Marrakech you will like this a lot, but if you are looking for something more special then I would suggest to go elsewhere.

aesthetics of this Riad is what we liked the most. a lot of original features are kept from this 19th century house, and it is decorated with more recent vintage furniture. the location is also very good
Cons: The rooms on the ground floor, where we stayed, lacked privacy and made it difficult to rest. Every guest's arrival at the Riad, check-in process, noises from the neighbouring rooms or time spent in the lounge area/courtyard by other guests could be heard clearly. the original doors in the rooms that open to the courtyard, whilst lovely, are only decorative and do not offer any privacy. you can see through the door cracks, which were the main issue. Our sleep was repeatedly disrupted on both nights we stayed there, notably by guests arriving at 1 AM and spending an hour chatting and checking in. We went out and asked to keep it down but they kept continuing. This happened again on a previous night when guests arrived at midnight. Despite our requests to switch rooms, even though many were unoccupied, we were informed that we would have to pay for an upgrade. Moreover, some of the water bottles provided were not sealed, and we both had stomachaches. though we can't say for sure if it was that or something else we had on those two days. While the Riad itself is aesthetically pleasing, we cannot recommend it, particularly the ground floor rooms, if you want to make sure to have a good night sleep. Both nights left us exhausted upon our return to the UK due to the inability to sleep. We believe that in an otherwise empty Riad, the least the owners could have done was to accommodate our request to change rooms.

Beautiful interior and design. One of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever stayed. Lovely rooftop with tortoises on the roof. A very peaceful stay. Location was great to get to the old medina and felt very safe.
Cons: My only suggestions would be our room had no option to put the shower head on the wall so you either had to have a bath or hold the shower yourself. The option for an early breakfast may be useful. We had a few excursions and had to skip breakfast. They did offer us some coffee before hand though which was a great start to the trips.

The common spaces
Cons: There were several things that led to a less than satisfactory experience - first, the shower hook in the bathroom was broken, leaving the handheld sprayer to come crashing down on our feet. Next the room was very dark without all lights working, it hadn’t had a deep clean in ages and the guest floor was so loud at night from the front door buzzer ringing or telephone from guests returning, and then again the morning with breakfast served directly outside the window. In addition, the door to exit the building had a broken handle and guests are not given keys to return; as a result, when we returned after dinner after 10pm, and in the pouring rain, we waited more than 15 minutes outside while ringing the doorbell and calling repeatedly to be granted entry. When someone finally arrived, no apologies were given. Lastly, for breakfast the following morning, it took nearly 15 minutes for coffee, leading to overall poor service.

Severely disappointed in the cost to value ratio for what you can find in Marrakech. I could list several items that were broken or dirty, but the kicker was waiting 15 minutes in the rain outside after 10pm because there was no one to answer the door — yet they won’t give you a key to get in. Don’t bother staying on the first floor; it’s super dark and noisy with both the buzzer at night and then people eating directly in front of your window in the morning.

The interior design of the Riad is eally well done. It Has all the charm of an old riad, but it has been refurbished with colonial and morocan style. The feeling is really nice and cosy and a good place to relax after a day in the medina. Breakfast were amazing! Personal in the reception is very nice and helpful. Reception 24 hs. The interior garden is lovely. The bedrooms are really nice decorated.
Cons: My only disappointment was that they didn't know we had a booking. This was solved quickly. But because of this, our bedroom wasn't preheated (we were there in December) or had a bottle of water.

We were very excited about living in a riad, but this particular room was very small for the price we paid elsewhere that was better and cheaper. Another less expensive place and closer to all the monuments The room had no TV or coffee machine, and it lacked basic comforts, like extra blankets. The water wasn't hot all the time, there were times when it would be cold so it wasn't pleasant to take a shower. Overall - average experience, but not worth the price paid. Also, this Ryad ad is difficult to find, it is located on a small street.

I never usually write reviews but we had an amazing stay here! This was my first time in Morocco and I had some doubts but the staff were lovely and the riad is absolutely beautiful. We arrived at night and were greeted with tea on the terrace on arrival. The room was clean and had authentic decorations which made it feel like a really genuine stay in Morocco. For the price I feel like this riad is such a hidden gem! The atmosphere was peaceful and transport links are good. Taxis won’t take you directly to the riad but it’s a short and easy walk to the square where you can get one. Cash machine is also a short walk away since a lot of places are cash only. There are nearby restaurants and the walk to attractions is also easy as long as you have access to maps. There are cats, kittens and turtles living here too which was just so cute. Really contributed to the homely feel here. If you don’t feel like going out there are also good food options to eat in the hotel. We also had a late flight so after checking out the staff let us store our luggage and sunbathe on the terrace/ get changed in a toilet/ use the outdoor shower until we were ready to leave. I am usually a solo female traveller so I had my reservations about coming here alone and bought a friend with me last minute, but in the future I would definitely feel comfortable coming here alone. Thank you so much! Will definitely visit again!

The arrival at the hotel was poor with a hotel staff member encouraging us to overpay a luggage handler (400 dirhams) for carrying our bags on a trolley for about 7 minutes. The staff were generally friendly. The heating in the room as not functional and the it was about 7C in the morning. Advice to travelers in winter is to check heating works and bring warm clothes.

Wonderful stay! The treatment was second to none and the riad is located really close to the Souks in Medina. I would rate my stay with a 10 out of 10. Amazing breakfast every morning before exploring Medina!

Overall I loved this place. It’s a beautiful Oasis of calm in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The staff were all really welcoming and friendly. I loved the decor and the communal spaces. The central court yard is magical. Also, as a late sleeper it was great to have breakfast up until 12. I would definitely come back here. By the end of the stay it really felt like home.
Cons: These are only small things in the overall scheme of things. Because it’s a riad it can get a bit noisy with people coming and going and noise from the kitchen and communal areas. I also, think they could do with new beds.

We loved our stay in this very stylish Riad. The room and facilities were great, our room was a really good size with amazing views of the beautiful courtyard, the terrace was lovely and relaxing. All the staff were friendly, accommodating and really went the extra mile to make sure our visit was perfect. We particularly loved the design touches and also the birds and cats that came in to say hello!

it was charming and a quiet respite from the chaos right outside the door. the staff was wonderful and always tried to please. they also where helpful about warning us of dangers of Marrakesh.
Cons: our room and bathroom were very small. the lighting, although charming, did not give enough light. there was very little shelves or closet for clothes storage.

The Riad is absolutely stunning, it’s effortlessly photogenic from basically every angle. The rooms were also really good size, very comfortable and clean (cleanest among all riads we’ve stayed in Morocco) and facilities like hot water and AC works well, and includes room cleaning service every day. Breakfast isn’t the most traditional Moroccan breakfast but it was very nice! Location wise it’s towards north part of the medina - it’s very easy to get into the medina (5 min walk) and really near a taxi station, it’s a 15min walk to the main square but there are lots of restaurants and shops to see away from the main square anyways so great location anyways!
Cons: Moroccan hospitality is truly the greatest thing we’ve experienced of the culture, which was something we didn’t find much of at this riad compared to all the other places we stayed at in Morocco. The staff was nice but there was much less interactions, and it just felt much less personable which made the riad lack a little bit of a soul. Other minor things were that the entrance signage isn’t very obvious so it can be hard to find down the alley and breakfast service tends to be quite slow. But if hospitality doesn’t matter as much to you or you’re mainly looking for somewhere pretty and comfortable to stay at then this is definitely a nice place to stay at

it’s very cosy, warm environment. Moroccan style furniture. Rooms are nice and comfortable although in need of small maintenance. Good breakfast prepared locally.
Cons: to arrive there you have to pass through a number if small and dirty small lanes. We had a dinner in house which was quite ok. Beer quite expensive. we had a small “accident” as one of us left a pair of earrings that “disappeared”. On the same date another guest had a similar accident with some cash left in the room and called the Police. it happens (let’s say) and they apologised sincerely but offered no compensation.

What a beautifull place, it feels like you step into a fairytail when you walk through the doors. The staff is super helpfull and make you feel super welcome. Waking up with the nice breakfast and athmosphere is a great start of your stay. While the medina is right outside the door, it is very quit and calm inside the Riad.
Cons: The only thing to mention is that you can hear the people walking around the Riad quit loudly.

This property is not a hotel but your home in Marrakech. Nice areas where you can sit and relax, have a meal or just a drink. Rooms in the first floor are a bit compact. If more room is needed or you're a taller person, rooms upstairs are a better choice. The staff is incredible. Helpful and always ready to give you some insights from the city if asked for. Breakfast are amazing. Fresh made every day. Location is also excellent. Not too close to the Medina but not far either, it gives you some peacefulness after a long day of walking.

So disappointed with this stay, we had two nights, and the service was terrible. We were informed just before the end of our stay we had to pay in cash, which was never made clear. We asked for a read out of our bill so that we could take out enough Moroccan cash. When it came to the check out in the morning it took over 30mins and by magic they gave us a total in Euros and the exchange rate they used meant we paid more despite no additional charges. They clearly played us. The service was bad and you left feeling ripped off. Additionally, we had to eat in the hotel and they have a menu but only served two dishes none of which were vegetarian. Would not return

I asked my boyfriend if he could book somewhere really ‘Moroccan’ for my birthday - This riad did not disappoint! The rooms are beautiful and the service is fantastic. In a really great location - everything is walking distance. Plus there is a car park 1 minute away where you can hail a taxi for longer journeys. Thank you for a wonderful weekend in Marrakech!

Our room was huge with an anti room with a couch and chair over looking the atrium before entering. Upon entering there was a large sofa and the next area contained a large bed with good closet space The bathroom was large with a huge tub. Breakfast was good with home made chocolate filled croissants. The pancakes and crepes were done to perfection. The staff were all courteous and delightful.

I stayed three nights in Bab El-Khemish room on my third trip to Marrakech, and fell instantly in love with this riad. It is wonderfully placed a 2 minute walk away from Riad Laarousse and College Mohamed V, a well known pick up/drop off point for cabs and tour buses. The riad is close to the northern souks, and only a short walk to Le Jardin, Terrasse Des Epices and many other restaurants, as well as the most magical garden in Marrakech, Le Jardin Secret. A few more minutes to reach Jemaa El-Fnaa. Extremely easy to get by with a few glimpses at Google maps without being led astray by the locals, just walk with a purpose and say politely no to the offers. The riad itself is absolutely beautiful, full of character and tastefully furnished with antique furniture and gorgeous rugs. Important to add that it is also feels very homely and comfortable thanks to the great ambience and extremely friendly, accommodating staff (lovely teas served upon request at truly all times of day and night). I spent my evenings between lounging on cushions in the latticed balcony of the room, overlooking the patio, or in a comfy armchair by the pool. Old jazz standards and film soundtracks, the chirping of the little birds and the sounds of the water create a really relaxed ambience. The terrace is wonderful, and catching some sun while little tortoises forage under your lounger was a great way to wind down after shopping in the souks. I preordered a dinner knowing I will have little energy left after a trip to the coast and the veggie tagine was just fabulous, by far the best I have ever had in Morocco. The only criticism would be that despite my emailing the riad prior to the arrival, there was no awareness of my request for vegan breakfasts when I got there, and the otherwise wonderful staff had little understanding of what that really meant. I needed to make some concessions to make do with what was available. Also the hard mattress would benefit from some padded cover. Despite that the overall stay was truly spectacular and I cannot wait to be back in Marrakech and staying in Palacio de las Especias once more. I am planning the next trip already.

Stayed for two nights in the gorgeous room with the nook that looks over the fountain and we absolutely loved it. The hospitality is brilliant and the decor an design is so tasteful and charming. Also obsessed with the rooftop - spent each morning up there with coffee watching the sun rise in the medina. I’ll be back! Thank you for a lovely stay.

This Riad is a Nice place to stay. It is beautifully decorated and the rooftop terrace is great. However, there are a few things that made the stay less enjoyable. First of all the breakfast is served very late, and is really nothing special. Supposedly the breakfast is served from 8.30, but in reality it was more like around 9.00. This is quite late it you want to go on a day trip. The waiter was not very attentive, so you have to ask for extra coffee, juice etc. Also there isn’t much to choose from, no eggs for example. This wasn’t a big problem, just a surprice considering the high price. The real problem about our stay was that we were locked in and out twice. Once we came to the Riad, door was locked and nobody was there to open. Tried calling on the phone but no answer. The neighbour let us wait in his Riad until someone eventually showed up. Being locked in was a bit more scary! We wanted to leave the Riad but the door was locked from the outside, there was no way to get out! Again we called on the phone without any luck. After 15 minutes the guy returned and opend the gate. So, the only way out is a door which can be locked from the outside, and you are stuck inside the Riad. In case of fire, pray someone is home...

Lovely small Ryad, very centrally located. A quiet place with a home feel. I loved reading by the fire in the evening. Lounging on the sunroof in the morning and sipping tea in the courtyard. Breakfast was glorious each day with special dishes. Simply perfect.

The most beautiful, tranquil boutique hotel setup - photos do not do riad palacio de las expecias justice! It is a complete haven that is perfect to come back to and escape the hectic streets of Marrakech after a day's sightseeing (15min walk to the markets and 15 min walk to the jardin majorelle). The staff were wonderful, the breakfast was great. LOVED the roof terrace with the adorable tortoises wandering around. Thank you for a great few days stay.

I stayed at Riad Palacio de las Especias with two friends for three nights, although one of them had to leave after the first night. Booking was smooth and owner Jose was always efficient with his response. He recommended that we stay in the Suite Bab Er-Raha for the three of us and then move to the smaller Bab Ksiba room after my friend's departure... However, after she left, staff still set up Bab Ksiba for three people meaning that we would've fit comfortably in that room anyway. I personally preferred the Bab Ksiba room as Bab Er-Raha felt a little bit too 19th century Andalusia. Also the extra bed they set up in that room was uncomfortable and we did not have any hot water during the first night (I think that is because they use solar panels). We also had trouble connecting to the wifi when the hot water was being fixed. Considering that Riad Palacio is slightly more expensive that some of the other riads of its standard in the city, I would have expected these not to have been issues. Overall, we did enjoy our stay at Riad Palacio. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Younis who was there in the mornings! Breakfast was included and there was a variety of options. A lot of thought has been put into the decor of the riad and it is beautifully done up, especially the central courtyard area. The riad felt a little more like a boutique hotel than a private riad, so compared to some of the other riads we stayed at in Marrakech, it felt a little less personal (eg. we did not meet the owners themselves). However, it is run in a professional manner. The riad is centrally located in the Medina and a short walk from the main attractions. The surrounding streets are not particularly pleasant, especially at night, however this is the case with most boutique riads in the centre. Riad Palacio does offer calm and peace away from the chaos of Marrakech's streets. Thank you for a great stay!

This riad was a wonderful place to stay, an oasis in the Médina. It is beautifully designed and I loved the details that were considered to create such a relaxing atmosphere. We especially loved the rooftop terrace, it was the perfect place to read a book and chill out after a busy day of walking around. They also have tortoises roaming around up there! The only downfall I can point out is that we only had a handheld shower - hard to use when you want to wash your hair! Overall, fantastic stay, service was great, location was perfect. Would recommend!

we got the room on the ground floor directly opening out to the courtyard and pool...it was absolutely perfect. the decor was incredible, honestly was so tempted to steal some of it back home! all jokes aside the place is picture perfect - the photos don't do it justice. its super quiet and peaceful, & from what i remember all we could hear from the pool area was the birds singing. the breakfast we had was amazing: croissants, fresh bread, pancakes, cake, cereal, fresh fruit, briouat, OJ, coffee... staff was also incredibly nice and friendly, responding quickly to our needs whilst giving us enough privacy. as mentioned in the reviews the wifi was a bit dodgy, (but this was a common occurrence everywhere we stayed in morocco). big thank you to the team at palacio! have already been asked by 20+ people about your hotel and will definitely stay here again when i'm next in marrakech !!

Convenient location in the heart of it all. The Riad was a calm oasis from the hustle and bustle of the medina. The daily breakfast was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. We opted for the airport pickup and dropoff which was great, and ensured we started and ended our trip on a good note.

The hotel is beautiful. Great rooms, comfy beds, amazing pool and terrace, very friendly staff, abundant breakfast. But. There was no hot water. We stayed for 4 days and every single time we went to shower the water was cold. We had to tell a staff member who repaired the system and apologized profusely. We could tell they were just as embarrassed and sick of it as us. I’m talking to other guests we learnt this had been a problem through their stay too. So hopefully this gets resolved. Otherwise it was great.

We had the most magical stay at Riad Palacio de las Especias. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff with iced Moroccan mint tea and cookies. Our room was beautiful, they even put out rose petals. We also really enjoyed lounging in the gorgeous courtyard and the roof (which has an adorable, small tortoise population!). The location is just a few minutes walking from the souk and great restaurants. I highly recommend this riad and hope to return again.

I requested the riad to pick me up at the airport and serve me dinner that night. We didn't have the energy to explore the medina and try to find somewhere to eat after a long flight. They were very friendly and professional. I still remember the answer of one of the staff when I asked him for the time when they served breakfast. He said, from 7 until when you wake up, don't worry!

My friend and I stayed here for 4 amazing nights. It was a great experience and we would not hesitate to recommend this Riad. THE GOOD: - The service was impeccable. The staff was amazing; sweet; always greeted us with a smile; & always ready to help. - The Moroccan breakfast was incredible and changed daily. - The portions for dinner were good and quality was authentic Moroccan. You need to order in advance to eat dinner here. - The rooftop terrace and small courtyard were beautiful. - Our room cleaned well, was comfy & nicely decorated. - The location wasn't right smack in the middle of the craziness but also not too far from the sites. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: - Munchies should be available to order. We asked to have something to nibble on with our beer after a day of visiting but we were told that nothing on the menu was available to serve. - We were there in sweltering August (40°C+). It took a long time for the room to get cool after turning on the AC (which was turned off by cleaning staff). - When we checked in, there were two small bottles in the room so we mistakenly assumed these would be replaced daily. - The Internet was sporadically slow & sometimes not working. - Finding the Riad upon arrival was a bit confusing. I recommend adding a small sign at the alley where we must turn in.
