First room I was given was beyond grim. I insisted they put a light in the bathroom and clean the room, or move me. They moved me. Second room was a slight improvement, but it was still horrible. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were like fat rocks, the sheets were too small for the mattress, and they were quite worn. The bed had a rubber sheet! The TV remote had no batteries.

Clean and spacy rooms with bath near the Medina. Affordable. Nice lobby and hotel exterior. We had paid full in advance to our Travel agent, clearly documented in the voucher. However the hotel receptionist still demanded a tax in addition, but no information signs, leaflets or receipt given in English on this – strange! Not much dinhares to pay extra though. Breakfast was included, however closed when we were there, no compensation offered - strange. Good restaurants nearby though. We did not get wifi to work in our room either, only down in the lobby. Sad that arguing, bad information given from staff not speaking good enough English spoiled a Casablanca night and stay. With hope that the hotel will improve their services.

We stayed a couple of nights at Al Mamoun and can't say we recommend it. The location is actually pretty good, as it is on a square not far from the tram line and also Place Mohamed V and Place des Nations Unies. It was also a 10-15 walk from the Casa Port station. However, the hotel also suffers from the prime location as it is extremely noisy at night - not just from the hotel's own entertainment in the bar/ restaurant, but also from activities on the neighbouring streets at night. We were kept awake on the first night (Saturday) from a lot of beeping of car horns, music, arguments from people, etc. It was a bit better on the second night, but perhaps only because it was a Sunday. The reception of the area looks quite nice and traditional, though old. We arrived in Casablanca pretty early and were allowed to check in which was appreciated. The room we were given was on the second floor and it was spacious - with two double beds. The décor is very old school with a lot of floral fabric and dark wood furniture. It feels like the hotel has passed its heyday! The bathroom was a good size, though on closer inspection, there was a big hole in the tiling on the side of the bath, which was a bit off putting. There were toiletries - different colours and in bottles labelled "shampoo" so we were none the wiser. There was an AC, but there was no remote and it didn't look like it would function, so needless to say, it was cold at night - we had to take the blanket from the other bed to add to the one on ours. There was only 1 light bulb in the room which worked, so it was a bit dark for my liking and hard to read in the dim light. The mattress is very old and the springs on my side of the bed seemed to have gone so it was very uncomfortable indeed. There was also a weird thick rubbery covering on top which didn't extend to the sides of the mattress, so every time I turned, I would get caught on it. We didn't really have any issues with the cleanliness of the room in general though one of the carpets on my husband's side of the bed looked a it dirty so he turned it over as it seemed cleaner on the other side!! We were told that breakfast would be at 7am but when we went down the next morning, the restaurant was in darkness and we saw a sign in reception which said that breakfast was at 7.30. As we had a coach to catch for a day trip, we had breakfast elsewhere. On our last morning there, we went for breakfast at 7.30 and it was still being set up and only consisted of different types of bread, some yoghurt, cream cheese and jam. The orange juice was the powdered variety and you could have a hot drink. When we had almost finished, we were offered some boiled eggs - all very random. Wifi was non existent in the room, but was available in the reception and dining area. In general, we found Casablanca disappointing in terms of the limited sights to see, and the general grime of the place, so in that sense, I suppose the hotel lived up to what the city was like!! Not a place we would recommend, unless budget limits options!

Hotel in the centre of Casablanca with friendly staff. The rooms have no luxury, but there is airconditioning and some rooms have a bath. Noisy area (best to take the top rooms). Only wi-fi in the hall downstairs. You can drink beer in the bar/restaurant next to the hotel, but you have to tell them you stay in the hotel (otherwise they charge you more).

One of the best reasons to “escape” luxury hotels is to experience local life. Our room in this centrally located hotel was basic yet adequate with a great view over the streets so we could watch locals at their favourite afternoon activity - people watching. Everything worked and we too had to share the aircon control too (hardly an issue if it’s returned to the front desk). Restaurant staff were most helpful as were the busy team at reception. We loved the art-deco décor and the evening’s entertainment. It seemed like a blast from a 1920’s movie. Yes, a bit noisy but a great place to be thrown headlong into the real Morocco.

The Room was dirty along with the ensuite, I accidently dropped my phone under the bed, yuk. I had booked it on a weekend not sure whether the night club next door runs seven days but it was as loud as an AC-DC concert and did not end until 3.30 am. Then the was a constant stream of coming and going by who knows, but I think they were working girls ! I think management may believe that the clientele may need a lot of cold showers as there was no hot water. The bed itself had nasty lumps and bumps impossible to sleep or was fear of what may crawl out from under the bed.

Fortunately we only had one night here as it was part of an organised tour. Unfortunately it had poor security and was in a sleazy area of town - two negatives when it comes to women travelling alone. The tone of the street changed about 8:30pm with heaps of guys hangjng around so we were glad to have eaten an early dinner. The street outside the next day resembled a rubbish dump! The ornate foyer was quite a contrast. Our first twin room only had a window opening onto the internal stairs which concerned us as it had direct access to the bar downstairs so we did not want to leave it open. The staff were helpful in relocating us but not much sleep was had due to noise until 4am from the bar. The shower curtain was also broken which made it difficult to not wet everything when having a shower. The breakfast was simple yet delicious. The staff were helpful with restaurant recommendations and directions.

I was booked into this hotel by the tour group I was on. I knew the tour was a budget tour but was not prepared for this hotel. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very helpful lass and a smiling porter. The room was small but adequate, however the bathroom was way too small with no aeration and smelt very musty. The very small cupboard for clothing was not usable as it smelt very badly. The bed was a double but the mattress was hard and lumpy. I could not move in the bed without a terribly loud squeak. The noise in the street during the night was too loud to have a decent sleep, but the location I though was good for walking around. The breakfast was simple but enjoyable.

I do not dislike anyone enough to recommend this hotel to them! On a positive note the breakfast was quite good but the table cloth could have benefited from a visit to the laundry some time prior. Our room was the noisiest ever encountered with a disco below until 03:00am and street noise all night too for the unfortunate 3 nights we stayed here as part of a package tour. The bathroom was a shambles ...the shower curtain and its rail was broken and lying in the wardrobe so taking a shower wet the whole bathroom. The air conditioner was broken and continued to emit disturbing noises …but no switch or remote to turn it off. When I asked reception for a remote to turn it off I was immediately abused for breaking the air-con! And then, to complete this scene of chaos as we were leaving there was a great commotion as the lift broke down. The hotel is in good company, the street outside is like a rubbish tip with what was maybe once a once grand fountain out front broken and filthy.

We arrived at Hotel Al Mamoune mid morning on a Saturday. We expected to have a problem booking in so early, but refreshingly, the chap behind the desk welcomed us to Casablanca and said it would not be a problem and he has a great room for us, which is ready now. Wow, we thought, this is great !!! But as we discover, it was all downhill from here ! After this he tells us that although our booking from several months ago is valid, the price – 15% discount for online booking – is not. We have to pay the full price. He launches into a long spiel – with accompanying actions and facial expressions – about the person we booked with being carted off to jail for ‘discrepancies’ with bookings … funny that they seem to still be advertising the exact same discount on their website! Too tired to argue, especially in our broken French and his broken English, we agree to the rate – the difference is only about 90 Dirhams. We later discover another person on our trip also had an issue with them wanting to charge full rate ... even though he had already paid his extra day via the tour company. !!! We also felt a little uneasy that a hotel which requires to take a photocopy of your passport has to send the doorman/bellhop along the street to get it done rather than having its own copier. However, after feeling ripped off in terms of our booking, we told the clerk that we would put our bags in our room and return for our passports in 15 minutes where we would expect to get them back. (we did return in 15mins, and our passports were returned to us). Hotel Al Mamoune is wonderfully over the top. From its golden exterior, to its magnificently flamboyant, yet small foyer, but unfortunately, that flamboyance or elegance doesn’t extend to the rooms which are pretty basic to say the least. If ours was 'great' I hate to think what others looked like ... definitely not like their website, thats for sure! Our room was small, the furniture and decor looked old and worn, and as others mentioned, there only seems to be a single remote control to switch on or control the AC in the entire hotel. Once switched on, the AC unit itself was not that great either. Other than basic breakfast, we did not eat here, so cant really comment on the quality of the food or ambience of the restaurant. However, we also did not experience any issues with staff other than the front desk (as mentioned above). It may be a different doorman than previous reviews, but the one we encountered was quite pleasant and friendly. We were on an Intrepid trip, and this is their meeting point for day 1 of their tours so we didn't really do our normal research beforehand, we just booked an extra day here via the hotel's website as we were arriving in Casa the day before the tour and figured it would be easier all round. Our expectations for this hotel were not high - we know that this trip uses basic hotels - but the room, and the front desk's rip-off attempts did not sit well and this is the reason we would not recommend it, nor would we return.

I found this "hotel" through my travel agent. I haven't done such a stupid mistake for years. Anyways, it is the worst hotel or pension or inn I have ever stayed in my life. Rooms are dirty and not cleaned regularly. Room service is essentially non existent. There is only one remote control for AC and you have to call some from reception to turn it on. Shower drain Is clogged and no has ever checked. Rooms are noisy. And I paid 100 $ per nite this hotel. If you are not up to some sort of social experimenting, run away.

What a horrible place! Greeted by an unfriendly man that announced he was keeping our passports and would give them back the next day. Not what you want to hear on arrival in a new country! Had to argue with him to get them back. Doorman tried to pick pocket my sons backpack in the lift! There is a sleazy den downstairs that they try to pass off as a restaurant. It is full of deviate looking men being serenaded by a strange looking male singer. Belly dancing and keesha later in the night. Extremely rude staff. It is in a very bad area and you are warned not to go out after dark. This area of Cassablanca is also filthy and stinks of urine - puddles of which you have to be careful not to step in! We used the pacsafe hear and locked all our backs around the bathroom sink. Couldnt wait to leave!

Spent a night at this hotel in April, rooms were plain but serviceable, beds uncomfortable as springs could be felt, and the bed was so soft, I just kind of sank right onto the cushiony matress, springs and all. The bathroom ---it was impossible to shower without getting the entire bathroom wet. Water went hot and cold on me. The room was cold. Hotel was rather loud. The breakfast was standard 2 star Moroccan fare, coffee/tea, yogurt, small plate with bread, croissant, butter, laughing cow cheese. Location of this hotel is very central. It is a 5 minute walk away to the old medina. Exterior and lobby of the building is the nicest looking part of the hotel. Hotel staff is nice, but not entirely helpful, and their English isn't the greatest. They didn't give me much information about the city, rather, they directed me to pick up a city map and get info from somewhere else.

i went to al mamonun in casablanca;I felt conmfortable at the first time when I visited the rooms and they are all provided with air conditionners . the bad news is that there is only one remote control for the entire hotel. so if some one takes the famous remote control and goes out, and gets late at night so you are deprived of the air conditionner. the first night I spent in this hotel i had the same feeling when i was in cairo; i mean it is very noisy out side;i went in the 21st of march i left on the 28th. it is very cold inthe early morning before sun rise.i needed some warmnes beccause i have osteoarthritis and my elbow gets very stiff in the morning. in the morning breakfast is served by bouchra she is very nice and carring.you can have: a glass of fresh orange juice milk bread ,butter and apricot jam;croissant and coffee. it cost me 500 drhs about 45 to 50Euros.
