The property is just a magical oasis going through a door from the street into a haven of peace and tranquility. Highly recommend it.

Cons: If you are not great on your feet the taxi cannot get to it easily. So a 5-8 minute walk is required.

My friend and I have just returned from the most magical trip to Marrakech. It was everything and more than we could have dreamt it to be. The Riad (Riad Charai) was the most stunning of places - an oasis of calm and tranquility in the heart of the bustling Medina. The Riad was beautiful, clean and immaculately presented. The food was fabulous and the staff were incredible. We want to say a massive thank you to Houssam from Riad Charai who went out of his way to make our stay perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for him. All very reassuring as it was our first trip there. He was so kind to us both and helped us with anything we needed. Every day a lovely welcome from Houssam and all the other staff. Would highly recommend this Riad and especially if Houssam is there. Thank you for making our trip one to remember. Marrakech is a beautiful place to visit.

We stayed for 1 week at the Riad. There is nothing to complain about. The location was great, the food was delicious , the staff were friendly and very welcoming. We met Abdul, Said and Abdherham and they were the most friendliest persons you can imagine. They were very helpful and welcomed us with open arms. Although the Riad is located a little bit outside of the city center, it is still accessible by foot (around 25min walk). However if you want to visit the new city (Geliz) i would recommend to take an uber as it is quite far. Our stay was outside of the holiday season which was perfect as it was very calm and quiet throughout the whole stay. if you plan to go during holiday season keep in mind that it might get quickly full during breakfast. The Riad tried to offer different dishes during breakfast which was nice since we were able to try new traditional foods. The food on their menu during lunch and dinner was delicious, especially the lamb and chicken tajine and the chicken pasta 10/10. Our room was very clean , cleaning staff came by every morning to change the towels and to make our bed. They sometimes folded our clothes and kept everything tidy. I would recommend this Riad to everyone.

The staff were simply amazing. Absolutely every one of them made us feel welcome, took the time to tell us about the city and how to get around. Always friendly, approachable, and there to help. The Riad was on the outskirts of the Medina, but not too far from anywhere. Once we walked a couple of times, we knew our way. The room was comfortable too. We only wish it was a little warmer so we could have taken full advantage of the pool! We were thankful to have our transport from the hotel arranged by them for ease and comfort, but getting a taxi wouldn't have been too confusing with the help of your maps app. Although not a problem for us, the area around the Riad could be uncomfortable for some. It's quiet. But perfectly safe.

The bathroom was lovely (although drainage was an issue), the common areas and breakfast were great too. We got the room on half price so the value was decent.

Cons: There were no windows in our bedroom and pretty awful lighting in the room. When requesting a change of room we were told we got the best room in the riad, which was naturally not the case. The location is north of the main centre so 20-30min walk to the main square and at night the area around the riad can be shady when trying to hail a cab.

Honestly couldn’t have wished for a better stay. There are tons of riads and we searched far and wide After we booked it a few people had said they didn’t like the area which worried it but couldn’t be further from the truth - the area is great, very accessible for taxis and only a short walk to all the action. Felt very safe The Riad itself is absolutely stunning, even better than the photos. We liked to go out so it was easy to leave but you have everything you need there and more. It’s very chilled with lots of staff to make your stay special, not small but not big with only a few people so feels like your own special place - shout out to Farouk for making our stay special

The property is beautiful and well decorated, I used the terrace to exercise while seeing the sunrise and was quite moving. Liying in the bed they have next to the pool after a long day walking was perfect, specially enjoying a mint tea. The best of all was the staff. Farouk, Zaid and Abdurrahman (Forgive if I misspelled them) where complete stars, they were always offering a hot beverage, and playing with my toddler who was delighted by they birds, cats and liberty of playing in the inner garden. They provide advice on routes, places and things to do, and coordinated transfers to airport (A bit tricky to find the best spot to meet the driver if you don’t speak the language, so they will do it for you)

It was a STUNNING Riad, so tranquil and clean. The service in the hotel was a 10/10!! Everyone is so lovely, especially Farouk and Abdul. They are so helpful and lovely, definetly the best hotel staff I have ever encountered. Super easy to walk anywhere in the city, we did not have to use taxis at all, it is all easily walkable. PThe food was OUTSTANDING. The quality of all meals was incredible, we really felt looked after. Their Tagine and Tangia (Farouk recommended us trying Tangia and it did not disappoint!!) Breakfast was dreamy, always lots of food provided! The rooms are beautiful and clean, daily cleaning was provided and fresh towels were given to us each day. The common areas are beautiful and tranquil, allowing us to have calm moments after the busy times in the Medina. Would 100% recommend anyone to stay here

Cons: Water pressure in one of the rooms was a little weak, however the hotel staff tried to fix it immediately, calling a plumber.

As this was my first trip to Morocco, Riad Charai was a perfect, quiet location that was relaxing and very welcoming. We had no issues throughout our stay, all.the staff were very communicable and attentive but also understood we were on holiday and gave space. I would highly recommend staying here as this provides a lovely place to relax before jumping into either the old or new parts of Marrakech.

The staff was wonderful and always ready to help and make your stay the most memorable. The location was perfect for all you would like to do! And of course the Road is full of charms.

Cons: The water pressure in the bathroom (douche and toilet) made it a bit difficult to wash off after going to the desert 😅 but we managed! (And it did not affect our stay or happiness in any way, just the showers were longer and required patience)

The accommodation was lovely, very well kept and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! We stayed in a lovely double bedroom with ensuite and private balcony. The breakfast was lovely each morning.

Cons: Unfortunately, the only thing we disliked about this property was the location. The area didn't feel very safe. It is located in the Medina (Old City) and a huge flea market was located closeby. Taxis don't come to the property and you have to walk approx 350m/ 5 minutes to get to the property. Generally groups of young males lingering on streets which was quite intimidating.

Very peaceful and attractive.

Cons: The food was poor. Breakfast was awful with no options ,no variety and the same poor quality everyday. We ate dinner twice and they were both tasteless and on the second occasion the soup arrived after the main course. The bed had a hard ridge right down the middle We booked transfer from the Riad To airport for return journey through booking .com and staff unhelpful because we didn’t book taxi through them! Excursions through hotel are a rip off.

The Riad is a beautiful hidden oasis in a busy city. The staff are amazing, Abdul was so friendly and helpful, he walked us directly to where we were able to get a taxi, he suggested places to eat and drink. The breakfast was also perfect and on the rooftop, so a gorgeous view every morning!

Cons: The only thing we didn't like was the medina, it is an absolute maze! The Riad was a 3 minute walk to the main road where we were able to find a taxi to the main square/new town. We tried to walk through the medina one day and got caught by a local who was really friendly at first then asked for money repeatedly, this was unsettling but we learned not to go that way again! Staff also warned us about this!

Very beautiful riad that gives a luxurious feel. The rooms are lovely, showers have good pressure and the beds are comfy. At first we were intimidated by the location but then we got familiar with where we were and everything felt very neighborly. Definitely gives the local experience of the medina.

My experience at this Riad was exceptional!!! I can say that I have already traveled to many parts of the world and that I have stayed in different types and classifications of accommodation but I am rarely surprised, but this time I guarantee that that is exactly what happened, I was/we were surprised very positively. Everything was in perfect order and cleanliness. The decoration of the rooms and common areas is very beautiful and tasteful. Without a doubt, I recommend this Riad if it is in Marrakech. As for the staff, they couldn't be more attentive and helpful than they were. Amine and Hassan were truly exceptional. They make any tourist feel safe, welcomed and eager to return.

Cons: nothing negative to mention

The riad common area’s are beautiful and very traditional. Breakfast is basic and light. The area wasn’t great in my opinion. It’s located right beside the north wall of Marrakesh old town which is about a 20 minute walk from the Medina. This was mostly fine but we did encounter issues with local scammers threatening us to pay them after following us while walking home claiming to be ‘offering their time to direct us’. If this is your first time in Morocco and your not used to the common tricks these obnoxious hustlers do, then I would recommend staying closer to the medina (if you want the old town experience) or in proper hotel in the new town, as this is less likely to happen in the touristy areas from what I saw. Also, the hotel offer dinner on the first night through message after you book. As we arrived around dinner time we asked if they could prepare for us about 3 days before. When we arrived they didn’t know what we were talking about when we mentioned it. This was annoying as the riad doesn't have a make to order restaurant, you need to give them a lot of notice.

This is a most beautiful Riad, so pretty, relaxing and peaceful inside the Medina so not the best surrounding area but the contrast is what made it almost more special! The staff were just wonderful, so friendly, kind, attentive and helpful, we were so comfortable and loved every minute of our stay. The food was amazing! We would recommend it wholeheartedly and were incredibly sad to leave such a special place.

Cons: The food took a long time to arrive once ordered, sometimes waiting over an hour for a toasted sandwich or a desert however, once you realised this and were more careful about planning it was absolutely fine and the food was always well worth waiting for!

Road Charai was absolutely lovely from start to finish. When we arrived we were greeted with Moroccan tea and biscuits, shown to our room in which they upgraded us with no extra cost to a deluxe suite room, and told about the lunch and dinner services they provide. Staff were lovely and attentive, breakfast was included every morning consisting of pastries, coffee and omelette. The pool space was very chilled and the rooftop loungers quiet. The riad is situated close to the outskirts of the medina wall so it was a short walk to taxis and small shops/stalls. Would highly recommend for a short stay in a more traditional accommodation than your usual hotel.

We spent 5 nights at Riad Charai. Group of 4 women. The Riad is situated a bit north of the Medina so perhaps a bit more quiet than other Riads which are more in the thick of it. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and no request was too much. An airport-transfer was organised through the Riad. I was travelling alone and was very thankful to rely on this service which picked me up from the airport and brought me to as far is possible by car (20€) – then someone from the Riad came to meet me and took me the last 10 meters to the Riad itself. Between our group we had two rooms, both unique but equally beautiful with moroccan designs. The room was clean and towels changed daily. The rooms are situated around the dip-pool in the court yard on different floors. We stayed in a suite on the ground floor but the other rooms had more steps to negotiate. Breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace – It consisted of local breads, pancakes and cake, fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and mint tea. Omelettes on request. Simple but perfect and authentic. We had an evening meal on arrival that we had booked ahead of time – tanjine, salad and briouates – all very delicious. The Riad itself does not serve alcohol, but the staff were happy to let us consume our duty free - providing us with tonic water and lemons. We also had a couple of meals/snacks around the pool during our stay. We used the taxi service many times to get to restaurants in the evening and to some of the sights – it was extremely convenient and it was possible then to arrange pick ups from where we were dropped off, which was very handy. Each trip was 20€, which is fairly pricey, however the service was excellent and the bill was added to our hotel bill so there was no need to pay in Dirhams. It's probably a good 20-30 minute walk to the center of the Medina. We relied on Google maps to negotiate the maze of alleys. Getting lost is just part of the experience. Thank you to all the staff for making our experience in Marrakech so memorable.

Breakfast was filling with a good range of classic breakfast items like bread, cake, omlette, yogurt and fruits etc Very pretty property, so stunning and clean with very friendly and helpful staff. Smelt nice and could hear the birds, relaxing after a hectic day. Near the outside of the Medina, so more of a walk in the evening to get dinner. The nearest restaurants were around a 15 minute walk into the Medina, which was fine because we had walked the same way during the day as it’s the main route into the centre, so half knew where we were going and occasionally glanced at google maps to check we were correct. We (male and female for context) didn’t really get any bother in the late evenings everyone was minding their own business, other then a guy shouting madam a lot but just ignored him and kept walking. Overall if you don’t mind a bit of a further walk into the Medina (there is taxis you can get a few mins walk from the Riad but we were on a budget) then I’d recommend and it’s a beautiful riad for the price.

Cons: Location was slightly far out (just in the Medina) but we are good with long walks so didn’t mind too much.

Stayed for 5 nights with another couple. The rooms are decent and the location is good. Its a bit north of the main Medina square. We enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was quite good and varied on all the days we stayed. There is a small pool - but this was very cold as its not heated and even in April during the afternoon the water felt quite cold. There is a good seating / relaxing area. There is no tea or coffee in the rooms was lucky we took some masala tea packets otherwise we would have struggled. They do serve their Morrocan tea but its not the same.

Location of the Riad was perfect! Good walking distance to most the locations you'll want to visit. And not too busy in the surrounding area. Lots of local restaurants nearby and food markets.

Cons: The room had a window/ transparent glass floor in the "living room" area that made it really hard to sleep. We had to put towels over it to sleep. I know its part of the architecture but a larger rug nearby to give you the option to cover it would be great.

I liked the Riad a lot. It was in a good location, about a 25 min walk from the center of Marrakesch, and after being out in the city where it was very noisy and intense in ways, coming back to the Riad was a blessing. The Riad felt very relaxing, nice, and cozy. I loved the breakfast place with the fireplace. It was very relaxing. The staff there was very nice.

Cons: I had booked a non refundable three day stay through booking.com from 25th to the 28th, and I asked the hotel if possible to split my stay 25-27th and 29th-1st. I did not get a response for 5 days, and I found this lack of response from management really non-acceptable for a 4-star hotel. I was very open to a no, I just wanted to know. On top of this, even though I only stayed 2 nights at the hotel, I was asked to pay the city tax for 3 days. It's not about the money, but this type of behavior stopped me from going back to the riad for a second time, although I really liked the riad itself.

The local staff were very kind and helpful. Dinner the first night was very good after a late arrival. The main areas were quite nice and pretty.

Cons: The management was truly terrible. We had so many issues with our stay that were not addressed, from arrival and throughout the stay. I would never return to this property. Rooms: the rooms are not as advertised. They were very cold, dark and not well appointed. There was intermittent hot water outage, which was very frustrating during our December stay. We had rooms opposite the main reception area, which a shaft in the middle. One of the family members of the hotel's owner would smoke very early in the morning, which we could smell and made the rooms very unpleasant. The management at first denied this was happening, and when they realized it was a family member of the owners, they did nothing. The same person who was smoking was also watching videos in a public area that were inappropriate for public viewing. The owner family had a large presence during out stay, and routinely took up the only indoor space with a fireplace and comfortable seating, leaving no options for the many guests. Breakfast was served very slow due to the lack of adequate staffing, and it was quite frustrating to endure the long wait. After discussing our complaints with the management, the offered no meaningful amends. Later, after contacting Booking.com, the property offered to discuss the issue with the owners, but we have not heard back after repeated promises to address our concerns. I would avoid this property as they have serious management issues. Also, the property is not conveniently located, and is at least 25-30 minutes from the center of town.

Facility was beautiful. Authentic decoration and very clean. Comfortable bed. Not too sturdy and not too soft. It was quiet most of the time. We had the possibility to close everything up for it to be pitch black at night which is nice. Internet was fast and constant. Pool was great and refreshing. Staff was amazing. Very friendly and always there to help you with anything you need. Breakfast at the top of the Riad is beautiful.

Cons: Nothing major, so take this lightly: Showerhead had a lot of limescale, a bit blocked. No shower curtain so water gets everywhere. TV didn't work well, very bad reception so no way to really watch something. The breakfast is quite basic. Not bad, but maybe something a bit more substantial like an egg would be nice. It's basic bread with butter and jam, coffee or tea, orange juice and a piece of fruit. There is a rotation of a semoule based patty. Not very filling for a busy morning. I would gladly pay a bit more to have a better breakfast.

Beautiful Riad, would highly recommend We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Riad - it really is like an Oasis in the middle of the Medina. It is kept immaculate with beautiful decor throughout. The pool is wonderful and there are lovely day beds to lounge on. The rooms are cleaned each day and we were provided with fresh towels. The staff were friendly and welcoming, they looked after us so well throughout our stay. Thank you to Chahine and Jamal for organising our taxis to and from the airport and for organising our hot air balloon trip (which is ab absolute must if you are visiting!). A special thank you to Sleman for being so kind and going to every extra effort to welcome us. The breakfast spread was great - we had fresh fruit, omelettes, Moroccan pancakes, bread and condiments. I follow a gluten free diet and the staff went above and beyond to cater for me, providing gluten free cakes and bread at no extra cost which I am very grateful for. The staff at the Charai gave us great tips for places to visit and reassured us that if we were to get lost at any point, that we could ring the Riad and someone would come and meet us. Thank you for making our stay in Marrakech so wonderful - we will cherish our memories here forever!

The Riad is nice and the vibe is safe. The pool is nice to cool down from the heat of Marraquexe. The host that works on the mornings (sorry I forgot your name) is absolutely amazing and explained everything to us and arranged everything we needed. The breakfast was also really really good.

Cons: One of the employees forgot about our taxi (which was already paid) on the last day to the airport. He made us walk around the streets, asking locals about where was the place the taxi driver told him. He also didn’t speak English or French, only Arabic, so it was a nightmare to communicate with him.

The Riad is such a nice place. It provides such a safe environment, escaping from the suburban area surrounding it. The Staff is super friendly, and the guy that works in the morning in the reception is the nicest guy ever. He arranged us taxis, private drivers, gave us a map and explained us everything we needed to know to get to know our way around the city. If you’re looking for a friendly, safe space with good food and good staff this is a must go :)

This is a must stay when visiting Morocco , it’s a little hidden oasis. The staff go above and beyond to make it feel like a home away from home. It has everything and the rooms and extremely comfortable . The bathroom is gorgeous , highly recommend paying that bit extra to have the master suite you won’t regret it . Also make sure try lunch and dinner it was so tasty . The riad is in the middle of the medina in the old town which can be a little daunting at first however you soon realise it’s bustling at night and all lit up and we didn’t get any hassle the whole time we were there . Couldn’t thank the staff more they really did make it the best guest experience

Riad Charai was a secret oasis behind the Medina walls. I was a bit nervous after booking to read some reviews suggesting the location was questionable or unsafe. This is not at all the case. If you’ve not been to the Marrakech madinas then I can see how the narrow and sometimes dark streets could feel that way, but there aren’t many riads in quiet areas that you wouldn’t need to walk a bit to reach. There were also complaints about taxis not being able to access the roads-no. But the walk to the main gate is easy and less than 5 minutes. As two women, we never felt unsafe in the area. This riad is a bit off the tourist trail and to get to the main square is about a 20 minute walk. For us, we didn’t like the craziness of the square so it was ideal to have a calm place to return to. As for the Riad itself- gorgeous atmosphere, fabulous food, beyond excellent staff. When we arrived and we’re shown to our room I was a bit disappointed to have no exterior windows (there was a skylight) and inquired if we could move. I didn’t want to be that person on day one, but we were quickly and kindly accommodated to a room with outside facing windows. Having see two suites, both were impeccable in cleanliness, decor, and detail. The marble, cedar, and mosaic tiles are just beyond words. The pool area is like a storybook and I found myself spending much time there or on the covered patio. The breakfasts are served on a roof terrace and includes a variety of breads and fruit and omelets. Lunch and dinners are alacarte and there isn’t a printed menu so whatever the chef has brought in from the fresh markets guides your choices. As a vegetarian I had wonderful meals and my daughter who eats meat, enjoyed her variety. No, there is no alcohol on the premises. They are fine with you bringing it in though. Most of all, the staff made this Riad a gem. Each of them knew our names from day one and they never seemed flustered or annoyed. We found them to be absolutely lovely.

Cons: There are some quirks given the age of the building- shower pressure, some keys were touchy, etc. But if you look at these as adding to the charm it just is what it is.

Breakfast staff were so friendly and helpful. Booked us gorgeous restaurants and arranged a taxi ewxh night. Pool is fabulous. Bed is so comfy and aircon is silent and effective. Netflix on the TV in your room. Thank you all. Can't wait to go back.

Cons: Nothing. Location is excellent. So quite ar night and can walk everywhere.

Top notch Riad experience. Loved every minute. I always love the surprise of stepping from the dusty ancient streets of the Medina into the quiet, cool courtyard settings of the Riad’s we have stayed in before. Riad Charai will not disappoint, the accommodation, staff and location were perfect.

1. The staff: Chahin, Jamal, Ibrahim, the Greek/Italian couple who ran the place, the lovely ladies who cooked us breakfast every morning and our driver Hossin! Each of them provided an outstanding service and made us feel very welcome and like we’re part of the Charai family. They gave us tips and little intro on where to go, what to do, whatever request we had - they went over and above to fulfill it and to ensure we have a good stay. Chahin even gave us his number to call him in case we got lost in the maze of the Medina or we had any problem. Thank you all for doing your utmost to ensure we’re safe and happy. (They allowed us to change the room as we had some issues with our initial room, they provided ice bucket and allowed us to bring our own food and alcohol in the riad; allowed us to use one of the rooms and have shower after we checked out, fixed the TV in our room, and made us the best mint tea ever!) 2. The riad: absolutely beautiful! Has 2 rooftop terraces, on one of them the breakfast is being served. Beautiful views from the rooftop The pool area is sooo chill (pool bigger than in other riads, you can actually swim a bit, it’s not just a plunge) all you hear are the birds chirping and some chill music going on in the background. The rooms are big and spacious, each w/ a TV, AC & a fridge. The bed was super comfy and I had some of my best sleeps there! Mini bar conveniently stocked up. We also had lunch and a dinner at the Riad, which was delish and better priced than the restaurants 3. Location: in the Medina, so you get the authentic feel of Marrakech, yet very close to the walls and the way out, so easily by foot one can get to the markets and shops outside the Medina and walk to Gueliz or the Jardine Mejorelle.

Cons: ONLY problem with the riad is the location, but it’s not that bad, it’s about a 20 minute walk from centre which we just were not expecting, if you are not new to marrakech this is a brilliant place to stay, and even if you are new it is still brilliant - may just take a day of getting used to

We loved everything about the riad from our arrival, when one of the staff came to the Medina gate to meet us and assist with our luggage on arrival by taxi. Delicious mint tea while we checked in. The decor of the riad is beautiful with very comfortable rooms, great showers and excellent air conditioning. The food served is of a very high quality, we had dinner three times - reccomend the chicken tagine and the beef with vegetables, both tasted wonderful, the chicken was so good that we had twice The breakfast is delicious and served on the beautiful roof terrace by the excellent attentive staff. Fantastic little plunge pool. It is also very close to a gate for getting in and out of the Medina if you need to get a taxi Overall the riad is excellent. FIve star for everything, loved it and would reccomend.

Cons: Everything was perfect. We had a truly wonderrful time.

We took advantage of the offer to be picked up from the airport and deposited at the Riad. Definitely made life so much easier. I would heartily recommend this service. The Riad itself was spotless, had a relaxing ambiance, and the staff were outstanding. The manager and her staff were constantly making sure that everywhere was clean, well maintained, and that residents had everything they needed. Lunch and dinner is available. We took advantage of the lunch and it was delightful. Other residents were very happy with the dinner on offer too. Beauty treatments are available and I had a massage which was carried out in the privacy of my room. It was a wonderfully relaxing experience. The heat started to ramp up during our stay but we found the use of the wonderful pool and the shade provided under the established orange trees and Jasmin kept us cool and relaxed. There was also air-conditioning in our room which was extremely efficient. Although Marrakech is vibrant and noisy, once inside the Riad it was peaceful. The only sound was provided by the swallows and sparrows that inhabited the walls. It was thrilling to watch the swallows scoop water from the pool. Upon our departure it was like saying goodbye to old friends. Our time there was absolute bliss.

Cons: When we arrived we were shown to a room that ,although beautiful ,was not what we had booked. We had booked one with a bath and this one only had a shower. However, after a short conversation with Mohammed he immediately sorted out a room that met our requirements and provided a perfect space for our holiday.

Cons: It takes 20-25 minutes walk to central square and medina. It does not feel safe to walk to the nearest taxi, espeacially at night. But the staff helped a lot to find a taxi, they even accompanied us to taxi and walked with us, i highly recommend to organise taxis with staff. Too much noise at our room at night, when some guests arrive to the hotel. The walls are thin i guess.

We stayed to celebrate my 50th birthday and the staff sang to me and gave me cake , such a lovely gesture and I felt so special. It’s more towards the north of the medina so about 20-30 minutes walk to the square and many of the restaurants I wanted to visit but with maps we managed the medina very well , enjoying the narrow streets and souks. Nice get away from the busy streets. Once you're inside the Riad, you are in a different world; I expect this to be the same for all Riads, though. The pool is nice, cold (no heating), and refreshing, especially after a hot day. There a several comfortable options for lounging around the pool. The rooftop terraces are quiet and beautiful for relaxing and stargazing. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Cons: Some of the doorframes are smaller than what I'm used to. I would sometimes bang my arm on the frame that bends inside of the doorframe if not paying attention. I would also need to duck through some of the doorways, but this is a cultural thing where you bow before entering rooms. Also, the private car that we booked through the Riad to pick us up from the airport was late. This was a bit stressful after arriving in our first time in Africa with 3 young children.

Each morning we were served a fresh and filling breakfast, and we enjoyed our daily chats with Ibrahim before heading out for the day. There is group of amazing women who looked after the guests, and the riad, wonderfully. We spent a few days chilling on the roof in the sun, and really enjoyed how peaceful the riad was. Riad Charai was the perfect experience. The Riad is decorated beautifully and provides a relaxing sancturary away from the business of Marrakech. The staff were wonderfully accommodating and the chef prepared some delicious food for us on a couple of occasions. We also enjoyed the spa treatments on site and would highly recommend. The location is about a 20 min walk from the more central parts of the city, however we also ate at some brilliant restaurants much closer (about a 10 min walk). It can feel like a bit of a maze trying to navigate back to the Riad and we had a couple of frustrating experiences with local 'guides' who couldn't take no for an answer, however not the fault of the Riad and they gave great advice for navigating the city on our arrival. Overall a wonderful experience, brilliant value for money and would recommend to anyone visiting Marrakech!

My friend and I had a fantastic stay at the Charai. Cannot fault it. Along one of the alley ways of the old city, enter through the black wooden door and you find yourself in tranquility away from the hussle and bussle of the streets, beautiful, traditional, yet modern. The staff, Mohamed, Yusef and Abdul were thoughtful, helpful, always on hand to assist and advise, polite, friendly and always professional. A spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and totally relaxing Riad. A great base from which to explore the culture of Marrakech.

Our room was very clean and the service was amazing at Riad Charai. Everyone went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. The pool area was really nice and the rooftop terraces were also great for lounging and getting some sun. The location of the Riad was also great because it is in a quieter part of the medina, but it is easy to figure out how to get into the main area by staying on the main streets. One of our favorite parts was walking from the Riad into the heart of the touristy part of medina and seeing all of the people and activity along the way.

I changed my reservation through the hotels.com app from 3 to 2 nights which was unfortunately never communicated to the hotel. Consequently we were a no-show on the first night which automatically made them cancel our entire reservation. This resulted in quite a bit of hassle as the room we initially booked had been booked by someone else when we arrived. We ended up staying one night at the sister-riad (Sharma) and one night at Charai. Charai is by far the nicer of the two so of course we were somewhat dissappointed. However the staff made every effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible and even walked us to the nearby taxi station outside their working hours to assist in booking a taxi to Agadir the following morning.

We highly recommend Riad Charai to anyone who wants excellent value for money with a true feel of Moroccan culture, calm, tranquil and beautiful ambience away from hustle and bustle(make sure you book a hammam/spa treatment/massage - it was amazing!) Do not be put off by the location - if you are a true culture vulture and well travelled this will not phase you.It is tucked away down a dimly lit alley however at no point did we feel unsafe, even at night. The locals don't take any notice of you. Highly advise that you book/pay for your airport taxi direct through Riad Charai in advance (slightly cheaper) - their driver will help you with your cases and escort you through the alleyway which does have a few twists and turns - he escorted us to the door and into the Riad - we would have struggled to find by ourselves (It is only a 5 minute walk from the taxi drop off point) - made a mental map as we navigated our way through -no problem finding our way after that. Excellent staff especially Mohammed who couldn't have been more helpful, very professional, polite and courteous - he even escorted us to our excursion pick up point at 5am and waited to ensure we were collected safely. Has 2 lovely roof-top sun terraces for relaxing and great for watching the sun go down/ listening to the evening prayers across the medina roof tops. Breakfast very nice, also small menu serving nice traditional meals (must order at least 1 hour in advance). Lovely bathroom and soft fluffy towels/gowns.

As soon as we arrived, we were given a warm welcome! Followed by Moroccan mint tea and biscuits. We were then given great advice on where to go and what to do, from the main attractions to the best cafes and restaurants to visit! The hotel even offered day trips and a driver to take and pick us up wherever and whenever we wanted for a great price. Which was perfect for two girls in Marrakesh! Once ready, we entered the most beautiful room with double doors. The decor was stunning and plenty of space. There was a double cupboard with a fridge and safe inside, a grand fireplace, seating, desk, tv, large double bed and large bathroom with shower and bath! Breakfast (included in hotel price), lunch and dinner (if requested) was well cooked, with quick and great service! You sit by the pool whilst you eat, which sets a lovely atmosphere. The hotels environment as a whole was stunning! From the pool to the candles. There was even a roof top with large beds and pillows, with an amazing view of the city from morning to night! I can't recommend enough! I would 100% stay at this riad, if I ever decide to visit Marrakesh again!
