We really enjoyed our stay in Riad Shemsi. From before we arrived, they were very communicative and helped to arrange a pickup from the airport. I would recommend this to all travellers unfamiliar with Marrakesh because it meant we were met where the driver dropped us off and shown to the Riad. Upon arrival we were provided with a lovely mint tea and made to feel very welcome. The room was very comfortable and clean and having breakfast every morning was lovely. We took up the offer of having dinner at the Riad on our final night and it was by far the best meal we had in Marrakesh! In terms of the location, it is slightly out of the centre, but it’s still very easy to walk to anywhere in the Medina. We were actually very happy to be in the Kasbah because it felt more calm and quiet than other parts of the Medina!

The property is within the walls of the old city and as expected its access is via narrow lanes. The lanes are kept clean. The Riad itself is very well maintained. The staff take good care and guide you with good tips on where to go and what to do. Neighbourhood is quiet and not noisy. Breakfast was really very good with a good mix of Moroccan and continental choices. If I get a chance again, I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: The rooms could do with brighter lights. But that's not a deal breaker for me.

Very clean and well managed. The staff were amazing particularly Adam at the front desk! He came out all the way to our car to help with luggage and kept checking in on us to make sure we were doing okay. All of the staff were quite attentive. The turquoise room was clean with a comfortable bed and large bathroom, located right next to the breakfast area which was a great convenience but still not loud at all. There was also a safe in the room.
Cons: Not accessible by car but only a three minute walk to where taxis will drop you off. Safe area to walk. Lighting was a little dim but nothing opening the curtains didn’t fix during the day.

Riad Shemsi is a true oasis of calm in the heart of Marrakech. Tucked away in the Medina, this charming riad offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling streets while still being within easy reach of the city's main attractions. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Their warm hospitality and attentive service ensured that every aspect of our stay was perfect. They were always on hand to offer helpful recommendations and made us feel right at home. The breakfasts were a highlight—freshly prepared each morning with a delicious selection of Moroccan pastries, fruits, and traditional treats. Enjoying breakfast on the terrace was a wonderfully relaxing way to start the day. The riad itself is beautifully decorated, with elegant interiors that blend traditional Moroccan charm with modern comfort. The tranquil courtyard and refreshing pool provide a serene escape after a day of exploring. For the price, Riad Shemsi offers exceptional value. The combination of its peaceful ambiance, excellent service, and authentic charm makes it a fantastic choice for anyone looking to experience Marrakech in comfort. Highly recommended!

Loved our stay here, staff were just amazing. We felt very safe walking around the area, even at night. It really is like an oasis, about 20 min walk from Jemaa el-fnaa. Breakfast was lovely. We found some nice restaurants for dinner locally in Kasbah too. Very quiet once inside and the rooms / beds are clean and comfortable. The roof terrace is great for enjoying the afternoon sun too.

Beautiful rooftop and terrace; the chocolate suite was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Staff is very helpful and the breakfast served is great!

Riad Shemsi was a peaceful escape in the heart of the Kasbah. The service was so warm and friendly. We loved the mint tea and biscuits on arrival, the way they cared for our two year old son, the best roof terrace with views across the city, the little cats that came to visit. We stayed here on our first two nights in Morocco and it was the perfect introduction. I would highly recommend the location as it is by both the royal palaces and has wonderful local markets and cafes. It avoids the frenzy of the central souks whilst still putting you in the heart of the medina. Our room was spotless, the breakfast was perfect and the service was second to none. Faultless.
Cons: The riad was perfect, small and quiet, there was nothing to change.

Quiet Riad set in the Kasbah approx 400m from the tombs, and Badi Palace. Exceptional friendly staff who were always willing to help. Breakfast was generous and tasty - loved the Morroccan Coffee with the hint of dates! And access to the roof terrace at dawn and dust made for a memorable stay!
Cons: A slight reorganisation of the furniture in the large room would give more of a "suite feel" rather than a bedroom for 4, but this is splitting hairs.... our room was excellent, a good bed, good linen and very comfortable!

Location is great, quiet at day and night close to all the attractions, cheap shops with water, snacks and lots of other things! The staff is super nice and very helpful :) The decor and everything is just beautiful! The beds in the main room are super comfortable, pool is great, amazing terrace with great 360 views, where you can enjoy the sunset or sunbathe, awesome sitting area near the roof :D
Cons: We booked the chocolate suite and it has seperate rooms, the 2nd room is 20m away on the same floor and the bathroom is only in the main room, the 2nd room also has the squeakiest bed in the world 😅 One of the towels by the pool, was probably washed but looks nasty 😬 Everything else and the whole experience is so great, that it's still a 10!

Breakfast was delicious and always on time. The staff were literally soooo lovely. Abdul, Nadia and Rashid were accommodating and kind and basically waited on us hand and foot. They were extremely helpful even when a button popped off my pants - they sewed it back on! So lovely. Hospitality 11/10.
Cons: Only issue was the air conditioning in our room, the big suite on the top floor, didn’t cool the room down very well and it made it a bit uncomfortable as we visited Marrakech in September - I.e. 35°C during the day.

Loved our stay at Riad shemsi. Very nice staff made to feel very welcome and helped us to get taxis and advise on where to go, nothing took much trouble. Breakfast was very nice especially the pancakes. Clean and very comfortable. Had the big suite on upper level was spacious and had excellent air con but during our stay in June was not exceptionally hot so used when needed
Cons: Maybe the area at night was a little bit intimidating but did not feel un safe at all. Local people all seems friendly certainly need to keep eyes open for traffic when walking back from main squares

Wonderful staff, particularly Abdul who went out of his way to welcome us and give us all the local info we could need. Once in the riad everything was beautiful, calm and so relaxing. Pool, sheltered outdoor spaces and rooftop glory. Fantastic breakfasts and evening meals (we ran out of time to try latter but know they will have been incredible). The Kasbah area is quieter than the medina but still close enough to really enjoy the markets. Totally recommend!

So it’s extremely well positioned and takes 20 min to walk to the Jemma square. Loads of eating places both near by - we often had lunch and menara foods which was a lovely small place where there schwarmas were both cheap and delicious - 30 dirhams. We were at the top floor - so one room had a double bed and two singles. And another smaller room with a sink with a double bed. What was just perfect was how there was a sheltered seating area and dining area on our level where the staff would bring us breakfast. Just perfect tbh. Continental breakfast. No meat. The staff were so pleasant . Aamur and Rashid were very very helpful. So courteous. I do recommend one gets an orange SIM card for 10 dirham and then 100 dirhams for 10gb so that what app and google maps can be used which is a life saver. The card can be purchased at a local groceries near the clock cafe. They’ll install and register it for you. It’s the first thing to do when you get there. Also take sterling cash with you. The exchange rate is exceptional near the markets / square. ATM rates aren’t great tbh.
Cons: The air conditioning is in the largest room was seriously lacking. I did mention it earlier on but I think we should have said something earlier. Apart from that no issues at all

Such a great Riad, just out of the main hubbub so quieter and more tranquil. Our room had a huge shower and modern air-conditioning, which was quiet to run. Traditional Moroccan design, beautiful lamps and decor. The pool was indeed chilly but very useful for a quick dip after a gruelling hot day around the Old Town. The small staff team were all brilliant. We had dinner there twice, with both meals being exceptionally tasty.

the service received from Raschid was absolutely fantastic. He was very professional and courteous. the rooms were very clean modern looking and you can tell they have been maintained unlike most property in Morroco. Abdussamad was very accommodating and helped us whilst we were at the Riad. The breakfast was nutritious and healthy. The location was great and only 15-20mins away from JEF square.
Cons: Paying for water. Atleast one bottle of water should be given complementary per day. It was quite expensive as going to nearby shops was vvv cheap.

It was my first trip to Marrakesh, and finding the Riad Shemsi was initially a little tricky - but it was well worth it. The team are outstanding. Very friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and made me feel very much at home! The swimming pool area is beautiful, and the roof terrace was great to sit with a coffee and absorb the sounds of Marrakesh waking up. The breakfast is excellent - my first intro to Moroccan pancakes! And the portions are incredibly generous.
Cons: This is more on me, but I am a little noise sensitive so being on the ground floor with the lounge area just outside my room, was a little noisy for me - but nothing headphones couldn't handle (i.e. there are no parties - just the sounds of talking etc.)

The Riad is located in a very nice neighborhood inside Medina of Marrakesh. It is small and peaceful. Abdallah and Rachid are very helpful and always available to help, the service and the food is excellent, rooms are nice and clean. If you go by car the best way to find the location which is close to the Riad is café Clock. You can call the guys 10 min before your arrival and they will wait there for you and they will help you with your suitcases. Parking is max 10 min walking and the guys will take you there. Overall a very nice experience. Thank you guys.

So many plus points for this delightful Riad. The staff - especially Abdessamad (Sam) & Rashid - were excellent hosts. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast healthy and hearty. The rooftop terrace a little haven away from the other guests (see below). I would have no hesitation in recommending this property, but only on the condition that the other rooms where not booked by large groups.
Cons: There are 5 rooms and 1 suite at the Riad. Our party occupied 2 of the rooms. Unfortunately the remaining 3 rooms & suite were occupied by a large party of American families who basically 'took over' the Riad - even to the extreme of inviting in some of their friends who were staying in other accommodation to join their partying! There was little, or no, consideration for other paying guests staying at the Riad. The sheer volume of 10+ people & screaming (boy did they scream!) kids around the little pool completely shattered what would have otherwise been a serene, calm oasis away from the lunacy of the rest of the city (Marrakech is fantastic fun, but you do need a break from the hussle and bussle of the main square). Had I been aware of the room allocation, I would have sought out alternative accommodation as our stay was definitely impacted by the behaviour of the other guests.

Our stay at Riad Shemsi was simply exceptional. The facilities are exactly as shown in the photos, very well maintained and super clean. The location is great, walking distance to every landmark but in a quieter area which allows for a more relaxing and pleasant stay. It is also very convenient for car pick-up and drop-off points for daytrips, arrivals, departures, etc. The staff is super welcoming and always willing to do anything in their power to make you feel comfortable and at home. Breakfast is very nice, with something new everyday. The dinners are also delicious, great quantity and the food is all homemade, it was probably the best we had in Marrakesh. The location in a quiet street in the Southern part of the Medina is great. There are some really good restaurants in the area, which were all recommended by the super friendly and helpful hotel staff. Hafsa and her colleagues helped us booking day trips, prepared amazing breakfast and tea and were always there for questions and for a chat about Marrakesh and Morocco. You can book your day trips at Shemsi on short notice. Also, the pool is large enough for a good swim to cool down from the heat. Again, shukran to Hafsa and her colleagues for accommodating us.

We liked the style and character of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. The breakfast was nice.
Cons: It was a little hard to communicate to arrange things, for example our pre-arranged airport transfer didn’t arrive at the airport to collect us. And there was no information about Marrakesh easily available/on display in the hotel.

Riad Shemsi was lovely. The staff were excellent and very obliging. I had a couple of evening meals which I enjoyed and the breakfast was different and delicious each day. It is a very friendly place. It is ideally located 15 minutes walk from Jamaa de Fey. The rooms are lovely.
Cons: There were no problems. Some advice for future travellers. Better not to change money in the airport- rate terrible and they will try to sell you a credit card, which was not helpful. Cafe Clock around the corner is great. Bargain for everything but especially taxis. Enjoy Riad Shemsi.

Cons: Room a little bit too dark, but everything is like that in Marrakech...

Great friendly service, great breakfast prepared from start to finish for quests, very clean riad, comfy and relaxing sun beds on the floor, convenient location, beautiful venue. There are couple very good restaurants next to riad: rooftop eclipse and clock, I recommend trying them out while here.
Cons: Bathroom and shower sewers overflow easily. There was a water boiler in our room that supported also the room next to us. The boiler woke us up with loud buzzing noise couple times during night when other quests decided to take a shower. AC unit didn't work but we quickly got a radiator to heat the room.

This property is your home away from home. Peaceful surroundings, tasty food, beautiful service and comfortable rooms and beds.. not to mention the view of the stars and city from the rooftop! you are also a few minutes from Cafe Clock which is a great place to eat, chill and listen to live music! The Kasbah is a vibrant area very close to the Medina.. we loved it!
Cons: honestly, nothing.. it was a seamless stay!

lovely Riad, interior styling beautiful
Cons: slight miscommunication about a cancellation then future booking meant we paid for 3 nights that we didn’t have ( because of illness) the Riad took another booking but charged us too. I thought this was a bit mean.

The riad is very beautiful! I loved the nice details in the room like having a cozy bathrobe and having all the nice items in the room that made it so Moroccan. The products in the bathroom smelled really nice and made your hair and skin very soft. The personnel was nice as they prepared a dinner for me even though the kitchen was closed. Overall nice experience~
Cons: Would have liked if the pool had warm water, being November we could not use it

What a beautiful stay! All of the staff are so welcoming - it feels like a home away from home. Riad Shemsi were so accommodating of our flight times allowing early check in and late check out. the location is perfect - away from the hustle and bustle and only a 10 minute walk to the Medina. Home cooked breakfast was a treat!

The riad is beautiful - the decor in the room was lovely and authentic, the pool is great, loved the terrace and different levels as you can chill out downstairs on a comfy arm chair or go to the terrace for a view of the city!
Cons: We had a 3 person room and the third person didn’t find their bed particularly comfortable - otherwise we loved our stay!!

This traditional riad is located at the center of the madina and at a good distance from the popular places that you would visit. The staff were amazing at this place, we accidentally left our phone in the taxi and the manager called around and helped us get our phone back, she was extremely helpful. The place was lovely and clean. The room and bathroom were small but this is normal I guess.
Cons: It was a little difficult getting a taxi to find this place.

The staff was wonderful. Abdessamad was incredibly gracious & helpful; securing us local transportation & finding us a wonderful local guide to explore the medina with. Breakfast was great (coffee, different baked goods, fresh o.j.) and Yusef was very accommodating to our wish to eat on the rooftop terrace every morning. A beautiful way to start the day!
