Cons: Terrassen kunne hatt noe bedre standard.

Great location. Fab staff, views from roof terrace great. Good breakfast. Huge rooms. Comfortable.

Cons: A lot of the building needs some tlc, some of the wood on the roof terrace was dangerously rotten. It would be great to have doors to the bathrooms instead of curtains.

Hotellet var smukt i gennemført colonial stil. Velholdt, rent og duftende. Dejlig tagterrasse med udsigt over havet.

Classic styling, we had nice view of nearby beach. Bed was very comfortable. A nice sized breakfast was included.

Cons: The only drawback at all was a mildew smell. Perhaps hard to avoid with so much wooden structure so near the beach.

The location, shower, and breakfast were very good. The rooms were clean and I felt really safe. The decor was interesting and beautiful--there was character to the place.

Cons: The staff didn’t exactly radiate warmth, helping us make a reservation or even a quick call seemed like a chore they’d rather avoid. The first thing that greets you inside is an unforgettable odor, something between baby carrots, barnyard, and, regrettably, vomit. Likely culprit: the oversized bird cage, which is as disheartening to look at as it is to smell. To make matters worse, the poor birds seem perpetually stressed thanks to cats wandering in and tormenting them. A real soul suck. Not exactly the atmosphere I was hoping for for my first time in Morocco.

Staff are amazing, so helpful! 10 out of 10 for the staff. The location is just perfect. There is a good breakfast that is plenty (fresh fruit salad, bread, a pastry jams, a crepe, butter and foiled cheese spread, concentrated fruit juice with copious amounts of tea and coffee. There are also eggs cooked to your liking). The cleanliness overall is good too. The towels are thick and still look white. The bedding is just ‘ok’. Aircon works well as does the wifi. We did not use the TV. There is a hand wash and shower gel provided. Water temperature and its power is ‘sufficient’. We were given mint tea and a bottle of water on arrival for free.

Cons: There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The shower hose would not stay in position. Curtains are not on their hooks that separate the bathroom to the bedroom. Also, we were really disappointed - what isn’t provided and misrepresented, as per the Riad’s description/advertised/photo gallery, are the following: No mini bar, only a fridge but this does go to a decent temperature No free coffee or tea (40 dírham for one tea and one coffee that is really not worth it). No sun beds on the sun terrace (only two that are part of another room that you cannot use). We booked this Riad because of the sun beds on the terrace shown in the gallery photos! There is a spa room but is no longer in use.

Extremely polite and helpful staff, eager to help. The hotel is practically a historic building, feeling a bit like a museum, with beautiful aesthetics, décor and charm. Great views both in the atrium and of the beach from the rooftop. Centrally located, easy to walk around town.

Cons: The "historic" part is striking, particularly due to the smell and the overall state of the hotel... Unfortunately the room and common spaces don't score high on "cleanliness" and, even though we stayed in the suite, the beds/pillows were not comfortable; simply a very large room with a very large bathroom. Still unsure if the establishment is completely neglected or not, but certainly is long overdue a renovation.

Amazing stay at Villa De L'O in Essaouria. All the staff were lovely - friendly efficient & helpful. Noureddine did a fantastic job of front of house - always greeting us by name and providing lots of useful recommendations. The building is fascinating architecturally and in terms of furnishings - we loved it. The location is superb - just inside the walls of the medina - only a short stroll from beach, port or parking if you have come by car.

Cons: The roof terrace - which should be one of hotel's real assets is a disgrace - all the furniture should have been thrown away years ago and the whole area is long overdue a refurbishment. Most guests during our stay did not use the roof terrace - the local gulls make more use of it - nesting there in one case. The current photos of the roof terrace on the website are completely disingenuous - we were looking forward to chilling up there and enjoying the views but in the end spent no time there at all. The photos should be taken down from the website until the area is refurbished.

Incredible stay (room, breakfast, riad itself and location) with incredible staff. I felt very taken care of as a female solo traveler — was given great recommendations, made to feel extremely comfortable (calling my hammam reservation to mention to give me good service), was helped several times by the folks working. Cannot recommend staying here enough: very beautiful and cozy room. 10/10 experience, I’ll certainly be coming back!

We were worried by a lack of recent Tripadvisor reviews and some comments about the property being a little run down, but this was not the case! Beautiful hotel, wonderful old world decor, very light, lots of wood and plants. We requested a room with an overhead shower, there wasn’t one available for the first night but we were given the option of three other rooms from our second night onwards. All the rooms we saw were uniquely decorated - all with different charms, it was hard to choose! Great breakfast and incredibly helpful staff. We loved sitting on the roof terrace after time in the city - a peaceful place to relax in the sun with incredible views over the Atlantic.

Cons: The roof terrace was very peaceful but some of the furniture had seen better days. Perfectly functional but not quite like some of the pictures. Some of the rooms only have curtains between bedroom and bathroom - this may not be everyone’s preference but plenty of private spaces to sit elsewhere if you need to give your roommate some space.

Very spacious and friendly riad. The manager was incredibly helpful and welcoming. We were given an upgrade to a large room , and the bathroom was very spacious too. Breakfast was good and it’s in a great location, close to a main gate but in a quiet side street. Manager gave us some good recommendations for places to eat and see the sunsets. We ended up staying longer than planned as we enjoyed it so much

The staff were very beautiful people. Always warm and giving in the best way they could. I wish them all the success and greatness of life. The riad is simple, powerful and classy. It spoke of its history without being embellished to new boojy-ness of Essaouira.

location was good, and the riad's structure is nice BUT NOT WELL maintained and dirty. that is one of the main reasons why I booked this place. The view was on the medina streets nothing wow.

Cons: Truly disappointing experience at this hotel. NO WIFI IN THE ROOMS – DO NOT BOOK this hotel. Despite advertising WiFi, there was no/LOW connectivity in the rooms. The hotel pics are heavily photoshopped and do not reflect the actual state of the place. The hotel manager is not even on site; he lives in Spain and was totally unavailable. The hotel is very loud and noisy. The rooms are dirty, the paint is peeling off the walls, and the bathroom drain was clogged, creating an overall dusty and run-down appearance even though I booked a suite. The staff is highly unprofessional. When I approached the receptionist about the WiFi issue, he rudely remarked, "It's not my problem. I am a receptionist, not an IT person." There were no amenities except a bulk dispenser for soap in the shower. The safe was not working. All frames were hanging off the walls . The bathroom brush was so old and dirty it was extremely disgusting. Even the uniforms of the bellboy were so old and dirty, you can tell they are so cheap. The windows and rooms are not soundproof; you can hear everything from people passing by in the Riad to the receptionist talking downstairs and other guests walking around and opening their rooms at all times. When I asked Booking.com to reimburse my stay as I had to pay for emergency accommodation, they said the property offered an “upgrade” which was a lie because I had already booked a suite and WiFi was not available in other suites either. I am still fighting with Booking.com to get my money back. This has been a horrible experience, especially after my exhausting 16-hour flight from Canada to Essaouira. This is a hotel with no hotel manager. I traveled all the way from Canada, arriving late at night, and had to spend one night in this dirty place because I had no other option. Without WiFi, I couldn't do any online work, and it was a horrible experience overall. I felt genuinely fooled by the fake pictures and false advertising.

Lovely riad on the periphery of the medina with a great view across the beach. It was very quiet when I was there so they upgraded me and gave me a choice of rooms, all of which were really big and nicely furnished. All of staff were lovely and didn’t make me feel uncomfortable even when I was the only one there! Happy to let me check out a bit later and organised a driver to the airport. Huge breakfast included (and I declined the option of eggs as was more than enough without) and good coffee.

The common areas such as ground floor salon are even more impressive and tasteful. Staff is extremely nice and helpful for all sorts of errands. Excellent breakfast with long hours (8 to 11am). A real gem at affordable prices.

Cons: I find other travellers' comments on the condition of the hotel exaggerated. Yes it is a little old here and there but that's the charm, and everything works fine. The top terrace with the best view is indeed small and dirty with bird droppings but the main terrace is spacious with plenty of sitting, though no shade or bar when we stayed there.

The staff were fantastic, really helpful and made you feel welcomed. The location was perfect, close tot he beach but also just in the city walls. There was a jazz festival happening at the end of the street, rooftop bars of all different price ranges, we walked along the beach and enjoyed the horses and camels wandering by, very surf chilled place. The building was beautiful, I was 100% stay here again. The breakfast was also perfect.

Cons: Everything was wonderful !!

Nourdime was incredible and helped us with getting to know the city and recommendations for where to eat. He was super helpful and always greeted us with a smile! The room was stunning, views over the beach and a private sunbathing area looking out over the ocean. Lovely place to stay and right in the centre of the Medina.

Good location, edge of the medina in a quiet area. Authentic riad old world charm. Excellent breakfast.

Cons: The room’s outside terrace isn’t private but is open to the rest of the roof which is used as a sunbathing area.

Great location, right in the heart of the Medina and with great views of the coast. Very spacious rooms and and old world charm. Lots of antiques in the rooms and with in the property and the staff were great.

Cons: The hotel and rooms although historically looking are a little tired and run down. Our room was huge with a large built in bath but the tables were damaged, the robes were old and grey not white and soft, the pillows didn’t fit into the pillow cases and some of the pillows on the bed were dirty. The room was dusty and some of the areas down stairs had a stale musty smell. It was once one of the best Riads in town but not any more. The room was also expensive in comparison to others for same quality in town. Breakfast was fine and the staff did all they could to give us another room. But the owner should invest some money into lifting the hotel to its former glory.

The staff was very courteous, responded quickly anytime I called or requested anything!

Cons: I was disappointed about the location. The pictures show a front beach hotel, but instead it was in the center of the city. The view is amazing from the roof/top story though!

Villa de L'O is a lovely home away from home with a great location and a beautiful view of the ocean. This is a mid-range luxury accommodation in the Medina of Essaouira if you are looking for a comfortable stay. Well recommended...

Cons: Everything's here is great. You will not feel disappointed.

Villa De L'O is one of the most relaxing environments my partner and I have stayed in worldwide. The staff are so polite and are always happy to help with a smile; breakfast was delivered with lots of fresh fruit and baked bread & pastries, also with eggs cooked to your liking. The on-suit bathroom, with its sunken bath fit for two, was terrific. The big windows open up with fantastic views overlooking the bay. The location is spot on, with everything on your doorstep and beautiful surroundings and small alleyways to explore.

Breakfast was very good. The location is excellent. The Inn has many unique and interesting features. Staff is helpful and pleasant.

Cons: The room was in bad shape. Wasn't that clean. Door didn't latch. Bathroom sink fixture was grossly in need of cleaning and was not secured so wobbled all over. Toilet dripped constantly and smelled very bad. Nothing to sit on in the room except the bed. A closet, but no hangers. Lighting in the room was odd, broken, or not very good. The rooftop terrace was in terrible shape. No place to sit, in bad need of refinishing/repair...not usable.

The building is beautiful lots of natural timber, doors, floors and decor a lovely Portuguese inspired Riad. The position is fabulous. The staff were very friendly and helpful

Cons: Unfortunately the owner/management have let the place go. Mouldy smelly room, greying towels and bathrobes most uninviting, tiniest bottle of water and not replaced, dangerous shower floor (sloping) and it does not drain properly. The shower sprays water outside the shower making the tiles dangerously slippery. The bedside lamps were so awkwardly placed we banged into them several times. The bathroom itself was only divided from the bed by a flimsy curtain. There is no coffee/ tea making facilities in the room as stated. Until they spend some money on it.

location within the Medina walls. close to restaurants and shops. staff was friendly and had good recommendations.

Cons: note we stayed in the top floor with our own private terrace. the view was amazing . Note there is no lift( we knew this when booking) 5 flights of stairs is a lot but the staff were gracious and helped with our luggage. Essouira is a fishing town and the property is close to the fish market which means smells which accompany this. The most annoying part was the constant sound of seagulls that sounded like cats! All night long. I am a light sleeper so this interrupted my sleep. The birds were right outside our window balcony all night long. Still a very cool old building with lots of Moroccan charm.

Beautiful riad within the Medina walls with ocean view and overlooking the entire town beach bay! Most friendly staff that we’ve encountered in Morocco (and we’ve been treated like kings everywhere)! Stylishly decorated rooms, best breakfast in Morocco so far and perfect base to walk around Essaouira and discover the medina.

Cons: All was well, but make sure to call up beforehand, as you’ll need assistance to find a parking spot!

The classic and authentic feel was unlike any hotel I’ve stayed at in Morocco. Every room was unique in its own way. The staff is friendly and incredibly accommodating. Nour Al-Dein and Mostafa are super welcoming and knowledgeable about the city. The breakfast was delicious, and the terrace offered some of the best views of the city
