Friendly and welcoming staff. A beautiful traditional Riad just 5 min walk inside the Blue Gate so you have the medina experience without getting lost. Handy location to catch tour bus. You must be able to climb stairs! My luggage was carried up for me.

Cute pretty classic riad in the middle of the medina but off a side street. Very quiet. Great value for the money. Not too hard to find; good signage at the turnoff from the main walkway of the medina! As with most medina riads, you will need to walk in from the wall gate so be able to manage your luggage. Some steep stairs to rooms. Pleasant continental breakfast, which was even provided to us very early when needed. Host very accessible and helpful. However I would not recommend the guide who was provided by hotel - get one off an internet service. Associated restaurant Mom's Touch was fabulous. Also had a great time with cooking class at Cafe Clock.

A very warm welcome and because there was a free room, they moved us to a bigger room. The AC was a welcome relief and we had a great sleep. They organized a guide for us from the official tourism agency and it was a very good tour of the Medina. We don’t have a lot of time which was a shame because the common areas would have been wonderful to sit and relax. A beautiful space to stay and very helpful and friendly staff.

Very conveniently located in the Medina right around the corner from the Merdassa and Blue Gate. Everything was within steps of the street. The Host Mohammed , a native of Fes Medina, gave us an orientation the first morning which made our explorations easy. The night person Dariz was super kind and went out of his way to make me an early morning cuppa before breakfast. The decor was attractive in the Moroccan style and eating in the courtyard was a pleasant experience. The breakfast was copious and sometimes more than we needed.

Cons: Internet was weak on the top floors. You had to go out to one corner of the balcony/passageway to get full strength signal.

The Riad is a beautifully renovated old building inside of the old medina / souq of fes . It is safe and quiet inside which is a huge contrast to the busy noisy street .But I recommend you stay on the upper floors for the most quiet as the downstairs is where you also eat breakfast. The room has lovely running hot water , even on the top floor room where we stayed. The staff are happy to help with anything needed and the breakfast is typical morrocon one , fruit , crepes , coffee etc I would definatly stay here again as the location can not be beaten. Its a few minutes walk from the blue gate and has parking near the less famous gate next to it , you will have to pay uf your are a tourist ..50dh each night.and it is safe

Location was great. Main host, Mohammed was very friendly and helpful.

Cons: Riad Taryana was recommended in our guide book (published in 2017) - it was in a great location near the front entrance of the madina and the air conditioning was very welcome in the 44C heat. It was obviously once a magnificent riad, but it has been neglected for years. Floor tiles were breakig, dirty towels and no shampoo in our bathroom, dated furniture and bedding, the intense smell of moth balls (perhaps trying to cover up the smell of mildew). We were the only guests in the whole riad (Fri-Sat in early August). We had just come from Marrakesh where we paid 65 Euros per night for a beautiful 4-star riad in the old madina. So we did not feel that 85 Euros was good value for Riad Taryana. Also, we did not appreciate being asked to pay upfront in cash before we were even shown our rooms. We also did not appreciate feeling pressured to hire a guide.

Good location. We met the owner as we were checking out who was very lovely. Breakfast was nice. There was a power outlet next to every bed. Air conditioning worked well. Beds were adequately comfortable. wifi was good.

Cons: Our room was very basic. The bathroom had a fine layer of dirt on the tiles. Out room was advertised as including a washing machine and tumble dryer, this was incorrect. When we asked the staff he said he would get it washed. Our clothes were returned to us 24hours later by someone else who asked for payment. This had not been discussed initially. it wasn’t expensive, but I feel the room description should be updated to reflect that washing and drying is not included but can be organised for a fee.

1800 property no elevator, no phones in rooms , has 8 rooms only , no handicap access, standing stairs, horrible, if yo fell down you end up dead or broken, you have to climb 50 stairs to reach you roof top room , I’m 71 years old I can’t climb 50 stairs neither my wife, In case of an emergency you can’t reach no one you have to climb again 50 stand up stairs to go down , as an American our phone will not work , parking is not available in the property, it’s far 17 minutes walking from the property, 3 $ per day you have to pay upfront for your stay , the stairs it fit one person only no one can pass you very narrow, and hard to climb, first night they give us rooftop room next to the terrace, they call it a terrace, every body go up (young teen ages), to smoke every 15 minutes, so we can’t sleep. The road to the property is horrible is narrow and you can’t fit your self with your luggage, tv no instructions in English how to work it out. Second day the manager Mr Mohamed kindly enough he moved us to the first floor after knowing that I have a heard operation , rooms has noooo windows at all, like a prison , I really don’t understand how Expedia agrees to add this property to their list ???? The owner of this property misled the customer and Expedia, 178 reviews totally wrong , that’s what attract me to this property, but I have been miss led , this property is for young teen ages place to sleep, smoke, and cheap. I strongly demand Expedia to compensate me for this horrible .

Cons: surprised on arrival that you couldn’t pay by card - would have been nice for Mohammed to mention as I had messaged him prior regarding arrival time. mentioned that to him as something easy that he can do when he messages someone who will be checking in… he said he would. otherwise he was super helpful getting us orientated.

Hotel manager was very helpful. Our room is at the ground floor which is upgraded and it is bigger then expected. Although the place itself has a bit run-down. The air circulation is not good inside the room as there is only a little window facing the hall of the riad. The breakfast was normal considering the price. (A bit disappointed about the orange juice as it is not fresh juice, the lady who served us is very friendly tho)

Beautiful riad with traditional tiles in the courtyard in a great location in the old Medina, conveniently located not too far from the Blue Gate. A staff member from the Riad met me outside the gate and escorted me to the Riad, which was arranged with a simple phone call from the taxi driver who took me there from the train station. When I left, the Riad owner escorted me back to the same spot outside the Medina walls and put me in a taxi. I appreciated this level of service, especially because navigating the streets of the old Medina is not easy for tourists. I surely would have gotten lost when I arrived.

The riad was very well located - close to one of the major entrances to the old medina. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast in the traditional Moroccan style was a perfect addition to the feeling of something authentically Moroccan.

Mohammed, D, & the very sweet housekeeper were amazingly welcoming to us, & Mohmammed helped us in so many different ways, whether it be offering advice to ship souvenirs, directing us to good food & shopping, & setting up an official guide from the Fes office of tourism which saved us time and money. The housekeeper did our laundry & the next morning she served us chocolate croissants with breakfast. Thank you so much for being so wonderful!

Everything was perfect from beginning to end! Mohamed, the manager, contacted me with information prior to travelling. He then met us from the taxi and escorted us to the Riad, upon arrival he got us tea and sat us down to give us so much helpful information. He was a brilliant help throughout our stay, as were all of his staff. The riad itself is beautiful, with only seven rooms it feels exclusive and the rooms are spacious and well decorated. Breakfast was included and we had plenty to eat and drink. The Riad is in a great location in the medina, 2 minute walk from the Blue Gate and on both the main streets so its easy to find your way back. This was for my wife's birthday so thoroughly pleased with our choice, highly recommend.

This Riad is beautiful! It's right inside the Medina in Fes and generally easy to find. The manager who ran the front desk was super helpful and really sweet. He showed us a map and physically brought us to an absolutely delicious and authentic place to eat. Whenever we asked for something he knew what to do and wherever we went to buy things, they gave us a discount for coming with him. The rooms was really nice and the breakfast was the typical but still yummy! My only complaint was that there wasn't any natural light in our room, but there is in the main area so that helps, also the Wifi was a bit spotty.

He told us lots of information about Fes and offered to book different tours and show us different restaurants! Our breakfast was tasty and hot each morning and had the famous mint tea and honey each day. Would highly recommend staying here if you want an authentic Fes experience! The Riad itself and the balcony were both beautiful.

Location is very good, only 5 minutes from the historic Blue Gate, money exchange, ATM, lots of local restaurants and shops. The staff were very helpful. I had a rooftop room with great city view. The room and the bathroom were pretty basic. The bath towel was not big enough for a small person like me. The wifi was not strong enough to work or stream youtube. I had to climb 3 floor to my room. Pretty basic breakfast. It appeared that the courtyard was recently renovated but not the guest rooms. The bed of the room was so-so. Overall, except for the location, nothing extra ordinary about this place.

Riad located in the Medina. Stayed here during Ramadan and would sometimes wake up to the prayers from the Mosque at 3AM but would go back to sleep. AC worked great! I had a room up in the roof. Rooms are super outdated and smelled like air has never ventilated. I left the AC on, windows open and bathroom door closed and the smell went away. The bathroom smelled like sewer. The conditions of the room could be updated and windows left open so the rooms won't have that smell. The morning staff was nice but the night staff was not as nice. I felt they kept asking what tours were we taking and what we had plan. Maybe they wanted to give us suggestions, however, I just did not like it. I would not stay here again. Rooms are below motel quality.

TLDR: Americans, Stay Here. You will be comfortable but still get the true feel of Fez. Almost everyone spoke English. My husband, daughter and I stayed here in February 2019. Mohamed was a wonderful host. He made arrangements for a taxi tour of the city one day and for a walking tour of the Medina another day. If you do the walking tour, which I HIGHLY recommend, ask for Tommy (I'm sure it isn't spelled that way but that was how it sounded). It is a little difficult to find because you have to walk down some very narrows streets but there are small signs to direct you. Our taxi driver had to let us out a few block away because there are no cars in this part of the city and he got a couple of young girls to take us to the hotel. Mohamed welcomed us and told us a little history of Fez. He then walked us to a restaurant and came back to get us. He made the offer again until we felt comfortable that we could find our way on our own. The rooms are even more beautiful that the pictures show. The bathrooms are modern and the rooms comfortable. Breakfast was tea and/or coffee, fresh juice, pastries, and hard boiled eggs. We liked it so much we extended our stay an extra day.

Fantastic riad and in the safer part of the medina (upper part) of Fes, near to the Blue Gate and walkable to the bus terminal. The owner Mr Mohammad speaks very good English and he and his staff are attentive to all guests, preparing welcome tea upon arrival... a nice touch! Riad Taryana is extremely beautiful and clean, and in a quiet alleyway. Note that not all rooftop terraces can offer great views (depending on the location and height of the building) but the rooftop terrace here in the riad has a superb view! On my early morning departure, I was surprised the night shift staff Mr Halid bought breakfast for me (on his own accord) and quietly passed to me while walking me out. This is unbelievable service!

Traditional interior design which was nice as it’s different from some of the other riads we stayed in. We loved the ornate walls and pillars in the main lounge and the terrace had a decent view of the medina. Our room was comfortable, clean and warm. The riad’s very well signposted and this is important in the medina in Fez. Quite a few cafes and restaurants nearby and it’s only a 5-minute walk to the Blue Gate and shops. Generally felt safe walking around the neighbourhood and we weren’t harassed by any salesmen to buy stuff either which was a nice change from Marrakech. I’d also recommend going on a walking tour with their tour guide Najib as it’s really reasonably priced for an eye-opening experience. We’d have found it really challenging to navigate the maze-like alleys in the medina to visit the various places that he brought us to. Little note, the rooms aren’t sound proof but I feel that this is common in most riads, just like the others that we stayed in. Light sleepers please be prepared if you intend to wake up later as you would be able to hear everything from the main lounge in the morning.

Excellent location in the Medina near the Blue Gate! Arranged for the driver to pick us up which is very helpful because the Medina can be overwhelming at first and the hotel is a bit difficult to find initially on your own. Loved all of the staff. Mohamed, Khalid and Driss. Nice breakfast, even a “to go” breakfast our last day. Khalid gave us a choice of rooms and we got an even nicer room with a loft. Decor was beautiful and so was the rooftop view. I loved this gem of a Riad!!!

Mohammed and his crew host an excellent riad. It has good ac, hot water, and water pressure. The electric and in-room tv are more modern than most comparable riads. You can tell they have gone out of their way to provide modern amenities with a traditional feel, which is not easy to achieve in a mideval building. We stayed in several riads in Morocco, and this is the only one that didn't disappoint us.

How to start?!?!? Well, before we went to Morocco we contanted the hotel to see if they could arrange airport pick up for us. Few hours after we got an email from Mohamed telling us that airport pic up was set for us. When we arrived at the airport our driver was there waiting for us and took us to the Medina and Mohamed was there waiting for us to excort us to the hotel cuz cars are can’t enter the Medina and he even helped my mother with her heavy backpack. When we got at the hotel they offer us tea while Mohamed explain us the city and gave us a map and also explained the map. (Thanks to him and the map we never got lost) Also Mohamed offer us tours that he was able to arrange for us and he did ... it was awesome cuz he find us a tour guide in Spanish so my mom could understand better. Also at the hotel the WiFi was good, our room was exactly the same as the picture, the view at the terrace was breathtaking and they also gave us breakfast :) Because we had a split days reservation they kept safe one of our bags while we where in another city for 2 days till we got back at the hotel at no extra charge. So it was easier for us to travel from one city to another. Due to our early departure 2 times, they prep a to go bag with breakfast for my mother and i and that make us feel extra special. All 3 guys that work there will do everything that they can to make u feel welcome , safe and most important, you feel at home! They definitely gave us a 10 Stars service!

The rooms are a little small and there are steep steps to get to the second floor. The public areas are beautiful and the location is great. You have to go down a dark alley to reach the Riad, and the first time I felt a little uncomfortable, but it was fine. Breakfast was decent. Overall, a good place to stay

+ve: The riad owner and staff were very friendly, the room matches exactly the same as the description. Enough hot water for shower. The location is good, very close to the main gate. -ve: Average breakfast. The temperature of the air conditioner fluctuated at all times, even if we have adjusted the temperature. Also, we found 2 cockroaches near the toilet in the night. The stairs are very steep, if you are carrying a big suitcase, it may take you some time to go upstairs

The riad is not easy to find, but there will be someone to pick you up when you arrive. Rooms are kind of wet and are not as clean as what I expected. Wifi connections are not strong, so I used my cellular data instead. Note that you have to pay 5 euro per night for city tax, which is unanticipated to me.

Mohammed was a great host. He arranged for airport transfer, greeted the taxi when we arrived, provided us with lots of hints and tips to enjoy the Medina. Breakfast was very satisfactory, the night staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

We were on the top floor adjacent to roof terrace. Unfortunately it rained for 95% of our time there so could only use roof terrace to take photos in low cloud. If sunny it would be great. Been to Morocco 3 times but this is the best plumbing out of all 3. Hot water anytime, powerful shower, efficient wc. Room quite small and bed was against wall, not the best layout. Location ideal but need to take note of surroundings as very easy to get lost in medina. 10 minute walk to taxi drop off but all this adds to the experience of staying in such an old city. Good breakfast, very friendly staff.

A very good Riad in the old Median area. The condition of the property is very good and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. There was some pressure to buy tours from the management.

With the riad being 4 stars I expected breakfast to be better than what I had e.g. they should’ve served Fez type breakfast omelette with meat and more variety. Anyways the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the location was brilliant.

beautiful riad in the center of Old Fes and near the Bab Boujloud. Close distance to so many great things- Blue Gate, Bou Inania Madrasa, Riad Fes (restaurant, bar, rooftop), and an amazing place for lunch (Cafe Laglali- the best Moroccan mint tea we've had this trip and a great tagine). we were warmly welcomed by our hosts. the courtyard is beautiful. Our room was a great size for 3 people. Bathroom/shower were great with warm water. Breakfast was good in the morning. The staff helped us arrange for a walking tour guide on such short notice. Easy check in and out.

We had a room with no windows that was basically a jail cell. Riad was hard to find with no cell service and we got harassed by dudes on the street trying to get there. It’s in the center of the Medina if you want to be there but it’s extremely claustrophobic.

We only had 1 short night at Riad Taryana before we flew out of Morocco at the end of our trip but the hospitality shown by the riad in this short amount of time was great and they were so accommodating to our needs. They booked us the driver and even packed a breakfast to take away for us at 3am because that's when we had to leave for the airport. I would definitely stay there again.

This was a great Riad to add to the experience of Morocco/Fes. It is hard to find at night time but the staff come and pick you up from the main meeting point and escort you to and from the Riad. Which is a really nice touch as we would have never have found our way at night time! We had dinner there one night and i can say that the portions are huge and very tasty - I would definitely recommend trying it one evening.

A lovely Riad in the heart of Fes Medina. The owner was fantastic and gave us lots of information, as did the guys who covered when he wasn't there. Our train was nearly an hour late but he had arranged taxi to collect us which was still waiting and the owner came and met us from the taxi to guide us too the Riad. Breakfast was great, very filling for the day. Great view from the roof terrace too. Fully recommend a stay at this Riad.

Mohamed greeted us upon arrival and got us checked in quickly to our room. He showed us a map and recommended some areas to explore and tips on safety. The lobby area was beautiful and charming. Our room was spacious and included A/C. Centralized location. Would definitely recommend!

The Riad was in a great location in the middle of the medina. Mohammed was an amazing owner/host. He was easy to communicate with, and answered all of our questions promptly. The room was spacious, the AC was very good, and the entire place was clean. A great breakfast and mint tea was provided too. I highly recommend the Train station pickup as a driver was waiting there with our name to drive us directly to the medina, where Mohammed met us and walked us to the Riad. For first time goers it can be very difficult to navigate the maze of the medina!

The riad is really well placed for exploring the souk and Medina, just a few hundred metres downhill from Bab Boujloud and fairly easy to find. The rooms are spacious, clean and keenly priced, with a generous breakfast included. The riad is beautifully presented, with a large inner courtyard, rooftop, and lovely decoration throughout. Mohamed and his colleagues are very helpful and courteous, and we'd highly recommend staying here.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and it was like a family environment. The location is very good, close to bab boujloud and with lots of good food nearby. The hotel staff were very helpful in giving advice. Our taxi dropped us to Batha taxi stand, and we were met by hotel staff from there, and were also dropped off to there when we returned. It was a lovely trip, and the hotel was wonderful.

Both the room & riad beautifully appointed, but sadly no ceiling fans (advertised). As with most Riad's it only had a small internal window & even with the high ceiling it got v.stuffy & hard to sleep. Uncomfortable opening window as privacy lost & always something happening. Very good AC but extremely loud, so couldn't sleep with it. Otherwise my room was great with nice double bed, raised area above bathroom with 2nd single bed. Bathroom fine but damp & fan opened into alleyway allowing more noise in. Mohamed was very nice & personable on arrival, but once established i was going to do my own thing & not book tours dinner etc through him, the service vanished & was quite rude. Didn't see roof terrace as he wouldn't show me. The staff were lovely & made me a beautiful dinner. Ask to not be lower rooms - directly surround central courtyard where guests came & went, breakfast had etc and on other side the alleyway of medina. The 1st night there was a party next with ridiculous levels of drumming music that i couldn't sleep until 5:30am (& nearly went insane). When mentioned to Mohamed next day he brushed me off & didn't even offer a simple apology. Yes it was out of his control, but a good host...? I didn't book any tours etc, if that's what you want the Riad & Service would be different I felt (& saw). I asked Mohamed for jug/? for a coffee the next day & was advised his staff could help me in two hours (!?). He was only around when guests arrived & commissions availabl

Great location close to the Blue Gate and very helpful staff. The hotel is beautiful and the wifi signal is better than most of the places that I stayed in Morocco. Make sure that you stay on the first or second floor to get good signal.

A beautiful stay at this wonderful Riad managed by Muhammed and his team, a heartfelt welcome that ensured our first visit to Fez was a beautiful experience. Nothing was too much trouble for Muhammed, patient and kind in all ways. This is a lovely Riad which is spotless and cared for from the heart, breakfast is included and really good value for the stay, Simple rooms, lovely sweet roof terrace which has 360 views.

We loved this place, the staff were amazing - right from the very first minute as i had trouble getting out cash to pay the taxi, Halid (hope the name is right) lent us the money and also some to get food/water that night. The riad was in the perfect location just off the main streets in the medina so it was quiet. The roof also had a great view over Fes. The breakfast was fantastic and the room very clean. The only small issue was the wifi didnt reach our room at the top, but that got us out of the room and into the general area when we needed to access the internet. We highly recommended this place and would love to come back!

Excellent Raid. It was very hard to find in the Medina the forst time around as will most Riad's be, mainly because of the Medina's random layout so be warned. The good news is that this Raid is very close to the Blue gate and no more than 2 mins walk into it (if that). Once in, the room I had was comfortable and had international TV although very limited channels, but to be fair I hardly used it since I was out more than I was in. The staff are very helpful. The Riad does offer to come pick you up and in that instance it may make finding the Riad easier, but a taxi is far cheaper. After midnight you shouldnt really be paying much more than 25 Dirhams and in the daytime up to midnight no more than around 15 dirhams. The Riad will charge about 70 Dirhams. Finally, Mohammed teh OPwner was a brilliant host, with breakfast served each day as well I can recommend this Riad.

We were met at taxi by Mohamed (owner) who walked us to throw riad. He sat us down and shared some of Morocco's exotic history, then arranged for us to be accompanied to dinner through the lanes of the medina. Chose a wonderful eating place for us (Thami's). After dinner cafe owner accompanied us back to the Riad. Wonderful introduction to Fes. Mohamed arranged wonderful guides/ drivers for our walking tour and day trips to Volubilis and Meknes.

Hard to believe such luxurious accommodation is found right in the middle of the world's oldest medina! After staying in 2 budget hostels, our last night at riad taryana was much welcome. Comfy beds, working air con, secluded terrace, modern toilet....you could not ask for more. Mr Tazi - the owner is super friendly & helpful.

As travellers inexperienced to North Africa we appreciated the hotel mangement's attention to the enjoyment of our stay. Collection from the airport, guidance to the Riad through Fez's narrow streets and provision of a meal on arrival went smoothly. Procurement on our behalf of an excellent guide the following day ensured a good start to our holiday. The hotel was immaculately clean throughout. Anyone less able-bodied should ask for a room on the ground floor - we were upgraded to one of these for no extra charge (which was lovely even though we could've managed the steep stairs!). There is a roof garden. Both the principal streets of old Fez are close by as well as a good number of places to eat. Traditional buildings in this ancient quarter don't have many windows, however our room was high-ceilinged and the air conditioning good/adjustable. The flight and accomodation was extraordinarily cheap making the holiday excellent value.

Riad Samarine is an excellent place to stay. The property is beautiful, comfortable, and quite conveniently located. The manager, Siham, is very hospitable and kind, and always has good recommendations for places to eat and things to do. She's also quick to make you a reservation if you need. Rashida serves a delicious breakfast, and makes sure that all the rooms are clean and tidy. Ismael keeps the show running at night. All this for a genuinely affordable price. Overall, great space and great staff make for a wonderful experience.
