I liked the location, it was right next to the Medina and also most of the restaurants could be reached in about 10 minutes of walking, as well it was quite comfortably accessible while going by taxi, then continuing few minutes on foot. The apartment with two rooms that was given to us, was quite spacious, renovated and clean, all necessary things were provided and working. It was tidied up by room services every day, we as a couple on honeymoon were given flowers, fruits, cookies, tea, nicely folded towels and that was very lovely 🥰. Also I have to point out the organized, very helpful and kind hotel staff that made our stay as comfortable and good as possible. The host Hassan was greeting us with his kind smile every day, evening and even during daytime when we simply went into the hotel for a few minutes rest, because most of the days we were going out to take a stroll through the enormous Fez medina. Hassan was also serving delicious breakfast every morning at our preferred time and offered his assistance with any other questions we might have. Overall, we were very satisfied with his services.

Cons: There weren't such things that we really didn't like but some improvements could be made though. For example, the breakfast could be more variable, some small salad like dishes or olives could be offered, still water could be provided and maybe some honey or chocolate cream together with the jam could be served that would go well together with pancakes. Other minor thing was that the apartment keyholder was too heavy and the keyholder ring was quite poor to hold it together with the key. Not a big issue if you know where you put the key but the thing is that the keyholder falls out accidentally and the key is not so easy to find afterwards. The solution could be a lighter keyholder or simply a better ring.

Staffs are super nice and attentive. Basically, makes me feel like home. To my surprise, the hotel offer free drying service so long as I wash my clothes which is convenient. The place is authentic and gives me a sense of Moroccan. I have dinners and breakfast at the Riad and they are good. The staff Younes is super nice, friendly and attentive, takes care of my almost everything. All in all, this is a feels like home Riad. The girl at the front desk is also very helpful as well ( I forgot her name). The cleaning ladies are so helpful, helping me dry my clothes and give back to me on the same day. And they keep my room very clean as well. And the pool is super nice and decors of the whole Riad is very traditional and authentic. The little garden just in front of the room is a shared place and actually I can use any places within, which one feels like home.

Cons: The location is not convenient to foreigner like me. Car cannot be reached at the door and Fes Medina is like a maze to foreigners. Yet the Riad managed to get someone to carry my luggage from car park which is like 10 mins away, though the man is asking quite a lots of tips which I think it's the responsibility of the Riad which make sure we can reach the property easily and comfortably. The lighting in the room is quite dim to me. if one more table is placed in the room, it would be better and sockets is not very straight forward to use.

The location inside the medina, close to the Blue Gate, restaurants, taxis, tour pick ups, cash machine, etc but also within walking distance of the depths of the medina (tannery, mausoleum, madrassa, etc). It's very easy to find once you get your head around its location within the medina. Very friendly and accommodating staff, always eager to help. Beautiful riad with different areas at different levels to just sit and relax, listening to the water fountain that sits at the centre of one of the courtyards. It also has a lovely roof terrace where breakfast is served every morning. Our room was on the 1st floor and had a lovely balcony overlooking the main courtyard. Courtesy water, dates and nuts awaited our arrival. Breakfast was limited to a traditional Moroccan but it was still nice.

Cons: Nothing really. I've seen bad reviews regarding stairs. I agree the stairs were a bit steep to navigate at times, but every building I entered in Fez was the same or even worse. For me, it only added to its authenticity and charm.

Cons: Location in the medina. Hard to find. Tall, narrow steps, breakfast location and quality. Small retrofitted rooms. Anybody with knee or heart issues should avoid. The typical riad courtyard was small.

Stunning riad with really professional and helpful staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast on the terrace was lovely, and our room was beautiful and very comfortable. The staff helped us book a private taxi on the last day and also helped us with our luggage as we had to walk a distance out to access the main road. Accessibility is probably the only downside as you have to walk around 10 minutes from the main road to get to the property.

Cons: Our room smelled of sewer gas. We came back to our room to find the housekeepers running water down the drain in the bathroom to diminish the odour- so they tried to lessen. The hot water tap on the bathroom didn’t turn on. Rooms old and needs some care. Wifi not very strong

Beautiful Riad in the heart of the Medina, well located and walkable to all parts of the Medina. Riad is beautifully restored, and they are in the process of adding new luxury suites and a pool that will be lovely. The staff was wonderful, helpful and accommodating for anything we needed. They arranged for us a walking tour of the Medina which was so necessary for us to get a good sense of the maze-like alleys and showing us things we never would have found on our own. They also arranged for seamless pickup from the train station to the Riad. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience, highly recommend!

The staff made our experience go from great to excellent! They packed us to-go breakfasts when we had an early tour and went out of their way to find us a new ride when ours cancelled at the last minute. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time in this beautiful Riad. The building is wonderful to look at and surprisingly big! Despite this, the staff took time to communicate with all of the visitors and made us along with many around us feel welcome. Special thanks to Zohail for working around the clock to help us enjoy our stay, and everyone working there is really kind and holds themselves to the highest standards. Oh, and the room is unbelievable too! Couldn't believe the size of the place and the style of the room (especially the bathroom) was really nice. The location is honestly spot on, right between the Bab Boujloud and the Tanneries/Madrasa. This is a no-brainer if you want to visit Fes. Thank you for a lovely stay. Acts of kindness from the Riad which helped make this experience so special: 1. Zohail helped us find a late night bite on our first day as we didn't get to the Riad until 11pm and lots of places had shut 2. We had a lovely breakfast complimentary every morning at the Riad. This was joined with a lovely chat with the staff in the morning who checked on us to see if we liked the Riad and were enjoying our stay. 3. While breakfast was normally 8-10, Zohail made sure that we had breakfast by 7:30 as we needed to catch an early van to Chefchaouen. 4. The staff kindly cleaned our room everyday so we returned to a clean space at the end of everyday. 5. We thought you could take a regular taxi to the airport, through checking in on us they found out this was our plan and informed us this wasn't possible. They then offered to help by organising a taxi pickup with a set price which eased our nerves! 6. We discovered you needed to print boarding passes off for Fes airport the day before flying and they printed off the passes for us to ensure there were no difficulties. P.S - sorry for accidentally taking the key, I hope the taxi driver returned it!

Location was perfect for the medina and the property was beautiful! Each room is unique & the details in the architecture were amazing. The service was exceptional, the dinner our first night was especially amazing! Highly recommend the chicken tagine. We felt safe the entire time and they even packed us breakfast to go when we had to leave early our last day! Overall a great stay.

Cons: It would be hard to find on your own for the first time (especially if it’s your first time in Fes and you have luggage) so just make sure you ask for help carrying bags to the hotel. After that it should be easy to get around.

This Riad tucked inside the Medina is an oasis of calm and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. The staff were super friendly and helpful and catered to our every need, from arranging a porter to get us and our luggage to the Riad initially to putting us on beautiful rooms and bringing breakfast up to the roof terrace each day. We had a wonderful stay, only thing to note, much of the businesses in the Medina do not open on a Friday, so we were glad we had time before Friday to experience it, as Friday was a very quiet day.

This place looked just like the pictures! And the staff were amazing. Rasheed and Hasan were attentive, friendly and ridiculously helpful. Truly appreciated their care in doing anything they could to make our stay better. My sister had an issue in her room and they immediately moved her. And when they found out it was her birthday, they took the initiative to decorate her room as a special surprise. Breakfast on the rooftop was also amazing with great views of the Medina.

We really enjoyed our stay at Algila Fes. The room was very clean with comfortable beds, a safe, minibar and bathroom. As it was cold outside, our host switched on the heating so we arrived in a cosy warm room. Moreover all the people were very helpful. They organized a German speaking guide to show us Fes. For the next 2 days we had excursions fo Chefchaoun and to the Atlas Mountains which were also organized by Raja and Mohamad from Algila Fes. They chose an English speaking driver and guide who did a great job. In the evenings when you come back tired it is very comfortable to get dinner in the riad so you don´t have to surch for a restaurant. The typical Maroccan food was very tasty. We really can recommend Algila Fes and we will come back soon. Thank you for everything.

Staff were wonderful. Very responsive and helpful. Once inside, Riad was clean and relatively comfortable. The description does not give details such as access to cars, how far you have to walk through the narrow alleys to get to the property etc. What we found was that Riads in Morocco are relatively expensive, poorly located, old renovated structures that are managed well.

Cons: Location and value for money. Had to carry our luggage or hire a porter to walk 10 minutes to get to the property.

It's a beautiful place and the young woman who greeted and helped us was amazing as were all the staff. The only wrinkle in the stay was they hooked us up with a guide who talked too fast, too much and was only interested in rail roading us into various shops to buy stuff we didn't want, but I guess all the guides do that and it shouldn't be a reflection on the Riad. Still...it was not a great experience (the tour, not the Riad. The Riad was great. )

A great Riad - a house rather than a purpose built hotel, with very helpful and friendly staff. A good location in the old city - deep among the warren of small streets and alleyways. As with anywhere in Fes El Bali there is a lot of walking, but that wandering and exploring is part of the charm of the city. The Riad will happily arrange a tour and any other trips you want - a walking tour of the city is a good place to orientate yourself, though you'll wonder how you will find anywhere you see again.

Riad Algila is what I dreamed! I looked for many facilities before booking here and did not disappoint my expectations. The riad’s furniture is authentic, elegant and not taken for granted. The style is typical Moroccan and maintains a very chic style, and an intimate and private environment where you can find relax in the spaces . You never feel in a cheap place and surrounded by tourists, but in spaces with attention to details and you really have the feeling of living in an authentic Moroccan riad. Our room was spacious and elegant, all very clean. I loved the shower and the bathroom and the decoration of the room was very nice and with natural elements like wood and colourful ceramics. I stayed with a friend and the staff was unique! they have always helped us to organize every tours finding the best solutions. in particular, Fouad was the best, always kind, helpful and efficient. We booked with them excursion in the Medina of Fes and we highly recommend the guide who accompanied us (Mohammed) booked with Algila riad. Always with the help of Fouad and Fatima we organized a visit to Meknes, Volubilis and Moullay Idris and also in this occasion they organized very well. The breakfast is very good and typical Moroccan and when you wake up early they cook take away. it was really nice to know people who work here, talk to us and spend time with them in the exclusive environments of the riad. We hope to see you soon Thanks so much Flavia & Eleonora from Rome

Architecture is amazing. Would highly recommend anyone coming to Morocco to make a stop by Fes, and make sure you stay in a Riad within the Medina. Algila makes you feel like you're stepping back into time.

AMAZING!!!! Everything about the Algila Fes is AMAZING! From the staff to the accommodations themselves! The staff will help you coordinate your visit ahead of time, which is such a huge help. The Riad is GORGEOUS, and yet feels like home in the best way. From the moment you arrive you are taken care of. The beds and linens are also SUPER COMFY, we had a three twin room and each of us were surprised how much we loved our beds! The guide they arranged for us to tour the Medina was awesome (ask for Hassan), and Fatima and the staff are wonderful. We were also lucky enough to meet the owner and he was so incredible! The place is stunning and Fes is such a lovely town and welcoming to tourists. The meals are also fantastic! Some of our fave meals in all of Morocco! DO NOT HESITATE to book Alglia Fes! It fills up FAST and you will miss a wonderful experience! I look forward to coming back! Thank you Algila Fes team!

We had no idea what staying at a "riad" in the Medina meant but wanted to try. After reading the reviews, Anglia Fes was the right choice. From their hospitality to the ultra clean and relaxing accommodations, Algila was great. The breakfast was also fantastic. Have your driver call before arriving and someone will meet you at the drop off and guide you to the riad. We almost didn't book because of some of the whiney reviews about having to walk in to get there. But once you see it and understand what a Medina is, you'll appreciate it. We can't wait to go back and wish we could have stayed longer. Couple this with a tour from "Around Fez" with Mohammed and you have a stay in the Medina you won't forget.

Beautiful riad with amazing staff. We highly recommend this riad for your stay in Fes. They are well located with restaurants and shops close by. The riad is very charming with large and beautifully decorated rooms. What makes this riad really outstanding is the friendly staff. They go well beyond and above in assisting their guests. They answered multiple emails very promptly and helped with transfers, guides, restaurants, etc. We felt at home immediately and it was hard to leave...

We stayed here 2 nights. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The riad was beautifully decorated. The breakfast was good. We had dinner on the roof / terrace one night and it was very good. Houda and Abdul went out of their way to take care of us. Abdul even took my pants to be altered. They also packed breakfast for us on the day of our departure as we had to leave very early. We felt more like true guests instead of customers. I would highly recommend.

Zero, the neighbourhood was filled with trash, feral cats and loud citizens partying with piles of garbage around every corner and no street lighting. staff were not willing to arrange transport to find dinner or let us know what was open late, or locate an appropriate guide.

From booking through to check out, the staff was fantastic - special shout out to Fatima and Abdul!! Amazingly beautiful riad, city, and people. The staff took the time to contact me in advance of our arrival to check if I had any needs. They help to arrange a private transport from the train station as well as a private guide. Both very reasonable and the guide was a must-have since we visited on Friday (holy day) and a majority of the stores were closed - yet we still saw a lot and had an awesome time. If I return to Fes (and I wish to), I would book Algila Fes again!

Excellent riad that feels like a beautifully restored ancient building. The staff makes sure you are in great comfort and make a big effort to accommodate your needs. Please take into account that the hotel is about a ten minute walk from the closest road so if you have mobility issues, this may be challenging. Also, since it's an old house, it does not have an elevator but they do have rooms on the floor level. Breakfast, which in our case was included, was excellent and cooked on demand.

I booked 6 nights at this hotel and read all the information provided to us on expedia. They forgot to mention the fact that 1 no cars could reach the hotel because the roads where too narrow so if you have bags good luck walking uphill with them. 2 the street that took us to the hotel had no lights so have fun sleeping early at night. 3 the hotel is not in walking distance of any amenities and I mean nothing. I decided to leave the hotel and booked another one for my stay. I explained to the hotel manager that there was missing information on expedia and I asked for my money back which I got non of. Worst experience ever.

In terms of service, cleanliness, etc. this is a great hotel. But a few things I'd warn those considering a booking that I wish I had known ahead of time. The location is very difficult to navigate. We live in a big city so dealing with an urban environment is not an issue. But things in the area close pretty early and you'll find very little foot traffic coming back around 10pm. There will however, be many groups or pairs of young men who will aggressively insist on helping you find your way. We experienced a similar sort of thing while in Marrakech. There however we merely found it annoying whereas here we were downright nervous at times. If you're the sort of traveler that will want to be out late for dinners and going to bars I'd recommend staying in a different neighborhood like the Ville Nouvelle and just visiting the old section during the day. You won't miss anything here at night. And as far as the room itself, it was definitely not ideal. We had no exterior window so there is no natural light or fresh air. And the entire length of one side of the room lines a hall/interior courtyard area--this includes the bathroom. There is a big "window" and glass French doors so it affords no sound proofing aside from heavy curtains and stained glass shutters. The lack of privacy was a huge disappointment.

Enchanting! A lovely Riad in the heart of the Medina with incredible staff who enriched our memories of Fes. Neat rooms and clean, functioning and well stocked bathrooms are a reflection of the pride they take in everything they do. Right from the moment we were picked up by the driver Norten every morning for our daily excursions, to the welcoming demeanour of Yolanda, Fatima and Aziz at the hotel who all willingly shared their knowledge and experiences in Fes with us to make our stay comfortable. Thoughtfulness would be an understatement if we had to define the way we were looked after by them. Yunus and Mohammed served us and helped us with a smile whenever needed and were supported by a wonderful cook who worked quietly behind the scenes to cook up a brilliant welcome dinner and a heartfelt breakfast each morning! We recommend this Riad if you want a homely but high quality experience away from the more commercial, luxury Riads that are available in Fes.

This Riad overrated and average at best. The staff was nice and helpful but service was slow. Our room was long and narrow. The shower in our room didn't drain properly. The room had a musty smell which they try to hide with infuser. This combination actually triggered my allergies. The tour guide arranged by the Riad was horrible and a waste of time taking us to the typical tourist traps. What i didn't appreciate was the owner telling us to give the Riad great reviews and if we didn't have anything nice to say don't review them. I wonder how many have refused to give an honest opinion based on that.

We stayed three days in Agila Fes in the Medina which allowed us to wander the old streets of Fes. The manager arranged a tour of the Medina, massages, a hammam visit, and dinner meeting my Gluten-Free needs in the area. The porter met us at the parking area (no cars are allowed in the Medina) and returned us there at the end of our stay. We were welcome to use the variety of Riad sitting areas and the roof terrace, even though we were off-season.

Centrally located in the old Medina, everything within walking distance. The staff was very nice and welcoming, really made me feel comfortable, helped me with all my questions with a smile, on the top of that they are multilingual. Dinner was delicious, prepared just like home made. This Riad has the charm of Morocco with nice architectural detail that I was looking for. My bed was very comfortable, very good size room, and a nice bathroom. My only critic is about the breakfast, but that goes for any Riad I stayed in Morocco. Breakfast is heavy on carbs, and sweet. I think adding some fruits or eggs would make it better.

Excellent staff and very helpful and welcoming attitude. Iolanda was very friendly, the hotel prepared us soup as we arrived late at night. Airport pick up service is very convenient (20 euros). They also give you gifts as you leave which is very sweet. The only little comment I would have to say is that the rooms can be quite dark despite the lighting. And that's due to the fact that old medina buildings don't have outside facing windows. Also, the old masons being like a maze, it can be tricky to find your way back to the hotel after a long day of going round Fez. But all in all, lovely people and enjoyable and cosy hotel stay.

When we arrived just outside the Medina the hotel sent a porter to meet us to help with our bags and show us to the hotel. When our family arrived it was just lovely. They served us a wonderful lunch complete with traditional salads, biscuits and breads all made on the premises. Fatima the receptionist was just wonderful as she organized the perfect guide for our family to tour the Medina. We are a family of 4 and Fatima moved us to section of the Riad with connecting rooms. The girls could have their space and we could have some quiet time. The Rooftop Terrace is a beautiful place to relax and sip some Moroccan tea. My daughters loved the Riad and the cultural experience. Fatima ( during the day) and Mohamed ( in the evening) helped make our stay very enjoyable. Honestly it was one of our highlights of Morroco. We were very sad to leave and we hope to return.

This place was absolutely fantastic. Upon arrival, you wind through the back alleys and streets of Fes for a few minutes and are then guided into this beautiful riad. We were welcomed with great hospitality by Adam the hotel receptionist and his service was just first rate. He told us everything we needed to know and guided us as to where to eat proper clean Moroccan food for the evening. Overall, the room was just lovely. Perfectly clean and everything in order. Shower was good and amenities excellent. Highly recommended, especially to foreign travellers.

I've been to Fez three times now, always at the Algila. It's a great 3-5 day junket from Europe for shopping, food, nosing about and a scrub at a hammam. The decor is simply beautiful, the rooms are clean and quiet, and we were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. The location is ideal - in the very center of the medina, but down a secluded alley so we heard no street noise whatsoever. The Riad became our oasis from the from the chaos of Fes - a beautiful but sometimes stressful city, as we found out our second day when we skipped breakfast and headed out on our own to find lunch only to be accosted by a self appointed "guide" who wouldn't take "no" for an answer then loudly demanded a tip for his services until we retreated to the hotel for refuge. The owner of Agila Fes happening to be visiting the hotel and when he saw that we were having a bad day, offered to reopen the kitchen and made us a lovely lunch (free of charge). In every way, the service was flawless - the hotel arranged an excellent professional guide that made sure we got the most out of out time in Fes, they recommended an charming nearby restaurant for dinner one evening, and they helped us with arrangement for travel to our next destination. We couldn't ask for anything more.

First off I researched a lot before picking a riad for our Morocco adventure and Algila' stood out to me. We wanted an authentic looking hotel vibe and this riad really was beautiful. The staff Soukaina, Alfie and Mohammed made our trip very comfortable and their service went beyond imagination. From walking all the way to the square to get us taxi services, to a 5am packed breakfast and an amazing comped dinner for four. I would recommend Algila' Fes to anyone who wants to travel to Fes.

The rmedina is like a maze, a REALLY hard maze to find your way around. The riad was very accomodating and helpful in getting guides to see us around. The rooftop terrace is very nice as were the common areas. Rooms are small, but adequate. Hotel staff was outstanding and the food was very good. One of our party got sick and was riad bound for the entire 3 day stay and they took very good care of her. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I stayed three nights 23-26 September 2014. The management arranged an excellent guide to show me around the medina and outer areas of Fes. I dined in two nights and the food was exceptionally good (better than the nearby 'occasion restaurant' I ate at for the third night ). The breakfasts were so generous that I learned the Arabic word for 'enough!' (The team at Algila all speak fluent English and French by the way!). I'd definitely recommend this riad.

Well located in the medina. Be aware that no cars are allowed in the medina and the riad is about a 5-10 minute walk with suitcases. There are plenty of ad hoc porters offering their services and will carry your suitcases to your room for around €1 or 10 Dirham. The Medina is a rat warren of narrow passages and it is a little daunting to navigate your way around to begin with and so make a good note of how to find your way back to your Riad!
