The riad is stunning—traditional Moroccan architecture with beautiful tilework and a peaceful courtyard. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast on the terrace with a view of the medina was fantastic. The location is excellent for exploring Fez on foot.

Cons: The room was a little dark, and Wi-Fi was occasionally weak in some areas, but it wasn’t a major issue.

We enjoyed this Riad. The location was perfect and the rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff was friendly and provided a very nice breakfast in the morning. We adored Latifa, who shared so many tips with us. She gave great restaurant recommendations and helped us figure out how to navigate the souk without a guide. She also recommended and made reservations at a hammam for us, which we really enjoyed! There are so many great Riads to choose from, but the staff at this one is what took a good stay to great!

Riad Layla have everything: great service, convenient location, good breakfast. When arriving, my taxi called reception and they were waiting for me at the end point for vehicles which was great. The Riad is like 5 minutes walk from the meeting point of the majority of the tours. If you have an early tour, they will pack your breakfast to go which was a thoughtful detail. The Riad is beautiful and peaceful inside, with a great view of sunset and Medina from the rooftop. The only thing that I don’t recommend is the hammam which felt rushed and improvised, the music was literally from a cellphone speaker and the drink was a room temperature water bottle that I saw when they took it out from the storage. No privacy to make yourself comfortable before the hammam or when waiting for the massage. Also expensive compared to what other hammam experiences offer outside.

Our experience is tainted by the wet and miserable weather we had during our stay. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, and the beds were very good. The heating in the room worked well too. They provided us with a good umbrella!

Cons: No drinking water provided in room, nor any facility for making own tea/coffee. No other communal area to sit in except roof terrace, which we couldn’t use because of the rain. This was also the only place we stayed at in Morocco where we were not welcomed with tea and refreshment of any kind. It had a pre-season feel to it. Room was a bit dark because the lampshades were all black.

Centrally located and beautiful renovated Riad in the heart of Fes. The staff was polite and the breakfast was decent but nothing special. The only important negative point was that there was a distinct sewage smell in our room and the Riad that made us not wanting to come back. When we asked the manager he told it is coming “from the wood” but clearly the smell was not that…We stayed in many Riads across our trip to Morocco and this was the only one either that issue. Unfortunately for that reason I wouldn’t recommend/going back.

Cons: My wife and I booked this riad as part of our honeymoon tour, hoping for a memorable stay. Before our arrival, I reached out to request some special arrangements, but the hotel's response was underwhelming. Instead of offering thoughtful gestures, they simply stated, "The rooms are decorated in a traditional style; she will like it," and suggested adding candles—for €10 each. Overall, the riad was just okay compared to others we stayed at, but what really stood out was the disruption caused by the receptionist’s phone alarm, which woke us up—an avoidable and frustrating disturbance. If this riad is your only option, it will suffice, but if you have alternatives, I’d recommend looking elsewhere for a better experience.

A lovely Riad just on the edge of the Medina. Latifa gave us the most warm welcome and it was a great spot to begin our Fes adventure. I am coeliac and require a gluten free diet and had advised them of this in advance. Every day there were different choices of gluten free pancakes, little cakes and Moroccan flatbread for breakfast as well as delicious fresh orange juice, GF yogurt and a good pot of tea. Latifa was very helpful on excursions and sat down with us to work out the best way to do things. The room was kept very clean. The terrace is lovely but it was a bit too cold for us to sit out for long. It would be a lovely place to have breakfast during spring and summer. Our flight out was very early but a member of staff was there to provide a packed breakfast and see us on our way. An excellent place to stay.

Cons: As others have said, the walls are thin and you can hear other guests. We were there in the winter and some nights we were the only guests there so it didn’t matter but I can imagine it could be noisy if it was full.

Beautiful large room. Bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast on the rooftop was breathtaking. Our host Muhammod was extremely accommodating. From meeting us at the edge of the medina and carrying our luggage to the riad, organising an awesome guide to take us through the medina and other locations, being available by phone any time of the day or night if we needed his assistance with anything. I cannot speak highly enough of Muhammod. They even had a packed breakfast ready for us to take to the airport the following morning as we had a very early flight.

Thank you Riad Layla for being such a wonderful place to stay! If I could give this place 10 stars I would, I loved my stay at this Riad. Every single member of the staff I interacted with was just beyond nice and incredible. The room (Zaina) was a perfect rest and recovery after the Sahara. The hammam was incredible and I felt like a new person afterwards. I had two breakfasts and one dinner at the Riad - never disappointed, the food was so full of flavour. The Riad is relatively easy to find and once you get a hang of some local landmarks (fountain, road access, etc.) it is very easy to navigate around. Safety and security is not an issue here. If I ever return to Fes/Fez, there is no other place I would even think about staying at!

The location of the riad is very convenient and the staff very friendly. The food recommendations were excellent. Room was cozy, quiet and nice but the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner or refurbished. The roofterrace was excellent and the breakfast as well. It’s a nice place to stay. After a full day of navigating the narrow and busy streets of the Fes Medina, it was very nice to find rest in a large and beautifully designed room. If you don't know where to eat in Fes at night, just eat at the riad. The dinner was astounding. The breakfast is also very good. The personnel was polite, always available for information and help. When we had activities in the morning or when we went to the airport, they would pack the breakfast for us to take away. The riad is marvelous and our room (suite Sara) was incredible, big windows and very beautiful design. In the bathroom they would provide shampoo, shower gel and an incredible lait corporelle that was just the cherry on top of a fantastic experience. The view on the terrace is wonderful, specially at night. They were renewing the spa/hammam so we couldn't see it and the fountain was closed, most probably due to the drought Morocco is going through.

Cons: The shower cap may need a bit of cleaning.

Riad Layla played a relevant part in the success and beauty of my stay in Fes. I was traveling on my own and Riad Layla made me feel at ease, cuddled and spoiled. They took care of me like a caring parent would do with a son: at my arrival late in the evening, without even having to ask, they made me found dinner, so that I didn’t have to go out and look for a place to eat after a day on the plane. They also helped me to plan my daily trips to Volubilis/Meknes and Chefchaouen, and never made me leave without breakfast. They really provided me of everything and even more I could ask for. Riad is charming, beautifully furnished and very clean; the bed is so comfortable that I thought it was a pity not to spend the whole vacation napping on it. I also loved its position very easy to find and to reach, close to the souk and to many useful services, such as a pharmacy, ATM and grocery shops. I will definitely be back in Fes and I will with no doubt come back to riad Layla, which I recommend wholeheartedly.

Cons: I would only suggest to add a bin for the garbage in the guest room, but that’s all!

The Riad is a lovely accommodation - the room is big, with a view towards the beautifully decorated internal courtyard, a comfy bed and a nice sitting area. The bathroom is fairly big and nicely designed. The staff was extremely responsive and helped us with all our needs - the airport transfer, a tour etc. Particularly enjoyable is the view from the rooftop during breakfast.

Cons: Might have been our fault, but we didn't realise how cold the nights would be even inside. The temperature in the room was definitely way below comfort level (although I'm sure that during summer months this would be greatly appreciated). Another point for improvement is related to the tour we booked (the Atlas Mountains one). We were promised an English speaking guide but, in reality, he was just a driver with a very basic English level - so it didn't really feel like an experience, but like a nice self-guided trip.

Beautiful Riad, good location to the medina especially when using the cool lanes, great terrace, tasty food, Mohamed, Hamid and kitchen staff

Cons: Salma on the ground floor is the most beautiful of all the rooms BUT it's almost pitch black with dim lighting so 6 days was too long in it. Also can't see if it's clean - the floors felt gritty and the greyish white towels didn't smell fresh. Latifa could improve her public relation skills

Latifa and Mohamed guided us, both prior to arrival and during our stay. The riad was in a quiet area, only a four minute walk from the Blue Gate, the main entrance into the Medina of Medinas! Cons: The room was a little dark.

Hotel close to Blue Gate, short walk away. Great location. Different breakfast was served each day so that was a nice variety to experience. We had tea on the roof terrace two nights with lovely views of Fes and lovely breeze. Got massage done as well which was arranged and was very good!

Cons: The only issue we had (we were in the Royal suite so the bed area was in the loft) was that the air conditioner was in the lounge but due to the warm weather, the cool air didn't reach our bed area all too well. Maybe a small fan might be helpful?

Stayed at Riad Layla for 3 days. We were really happy with our choice for this riad. Rooms were nice, clean and had lots of space. Service and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. If you arrive by car, let them know, so they'll pick you up at the roundabout at place Batha. Also breakfast (we had dinner outside of the riad, but they offered dinner for 15 euro) was really good and relaxed on the beautiful rooftop terrace. They also offered hammam, which we didn't use. We did hire an official guide through the riad for a tour through the Fez medina, which I could really recommended if you're going to spend a whole day in the medina and want to see and know more than just the touristy shops. Overall, really enjoyed our stay and would defenitely recommend!

Cons: The hammam was a bit expensive. However, I think you pay an extra sum as a tourist everywhere. Aside from that, everything was perfect!

The staff was very friendly and helpful! I was able to arrange affordable taxi transportation to the train station, as well as arrange for private tours of the Old Medina in Fez, as well as outbound tours of Volubilis and Meknes. I really appreciated them helping me arrange these tours as they turned out to be amazing experiences! The property is well-maintained, clean, and has all the basic facilities, including AC inside rooms. The view from my room was only of the central courtyard of the Riad, but the terrace has a good view of the Fez. Since breakfast is included, you can enjoy some really good food while you soak in the morning views of the Old Medina. The service is very polite always, so it made the entire stay very enjoyable. The Riad is in a good location, and less than 10 minutes by walk from The Blue Gate / Bab Boujloud, making it very ideal location for enjoying the experience of this incredible and ancient Moroccan city! Lastly, they do have spa services here including a hammam/Turkish bath service, and full-body massage services. I enjoyed both these very much and my massage therapist was very good! Be sure to book these in advance if you're interested. I would highly recommend the hammam experience for a good exfoliation of dead skin. All in all, a wonderful stay here and would recommend Riad Layla!

Cons: The things I didn't like were quite minor and I don't typically care too much about things. It would be nice to have some bottles of mineral water stocked in the fridge. My bathroom was very clean and functional but a little odd. The toiletries, while provided, were not labeled at all. There was both an overhead and handheld shower, but the four facuet knobs to operate it were all labeled "Hot". The drainage of the water is slow, so when you're showering, your feet will be in a poor of dirty water. Finally, the bathroom doesn't have a door, just a curtain. Honestly, this was my only critique - the bathroom design. Definitely scope for improvement but this shouldn't keep you from selecting this otherwise great value-for-money option.

This is a beautiful Riad and well located. We arrived by car and it was straight forward which is saying something for Fes medina. Our room was beautiful and had its own private roof terrace. the dining terrace has spectacular views. Mohammed looked after us really well.

The Riad is located in a very convenient location in the medina (or very close to it, hard to say as a foreinger). The facilities are very elegant and remarkable, rooms are gorgeous and ample. There is a beautiful terrace on top, very peaceful and with splendid views to the whole city. Dining there was unforgettable, home cooked Moroccan food. The hosts were generous, patient and extremely helpful, providing us with tips and arranging details, such as transfers from the train station, contact with a professional guide, and providing us with early lunch packages. Wish we would have more days... thanks a million!

Cons: None. Everything was magic.

Location is great and facilities are really good. Breakfast was good and abundant. Architecture of the building is really beautiful and well decorated.

We enjoyed our stay at Riad Layla. As we arrived, we had the opportunity of having a tea on the lovely roof top terrace. Latifa welcomed us and gave us information for visiting Fes. She was really helpful and arranged a local official guide for us. As we left Fez early in the morning, the riad packed a breakfast for us to take away. The riad had a beautiful Moroccan architecture with modern facilities and was very clean. We had our evening dinner at the riad, which was delicious and not expensive.

Very helpful staff who organised a taxi to bring us to the hotel for extra money. Warm welcome and she made everything easy for us. She advised us to go to the Fes cafe for lunch which was amazing. THE hamam experience was amazing. Loved it. My partner and I did it together.

Cons: The Riad organised a tour guide for us who was not good at all. Shame! We just got taken from shop to shop and of course he would have been on commission. We learned nothing about Fes from him.

- our room, the Salma suite, despite the initial hiccups - our temporary upgrade room, Royal Suite - our host Mohamed and Latifa along with the entire housekeeping staff. - the delicious breakfasts - the scenic rooftop - the convenient location

Cons: we booked the Salma suite and had a few initial issues heating in our room - was not working and the room was freezing, was provided a portable heater for the night and an engineer was called out to fix the A/c. bathroom - A really bad smell from the drain, we were upgraded to another the Royal suite and this issue was also fixed. Both issues resolved promptly and on our return to Salma suite we had no further complaints for the duration of our stay. Our upgrade to the royal suite was perfect

Very tidy and lovely Riad with beautiful rooms in the Centre of the old Medina. Every attraction is close by. The beds are super comfortable and Latifa was a very attentive host who accommodated our spontaneous changes of plans perfectly. The Sweet breakfast was very good and the roof top Terrasse offers a beautiful view.

Cons: The whole house is not sound proof. We didn’t really bother but sound sensitive people might. Not that one should expect fully sound proof rooms in a Riad in general - the architecture of a Riad itself is supporting sound traveling easily - but in comparison to other Riads this was as if there were no doors or walls at all. We could hear the slightest whisper and even very low music on a phone from two levels beneath us as if it was in our room. We forgot to bring our own water and there was no bottled water available in the room. At a accommodation at this price range I was assuming it to be included. We had to buy it for a relatively high price (5€/ 1.5l) . Better bring something with you before you check in. They had a new AC freshly installed. Guess in summer the climate is great within the house. Now in winter the room was very cold and we couldn’t get it warm.

The riad is beautiful and old building, very charming. The terrace is nice but it's a little less usable as stairs are high and many. The location is really good. The size of the room was excellent, very large and nicely decorated. The beds are very comfortable, probably the best we had in Morocco

Cons: The lighting is very (extremely) dim, so entering the riad is unpleasant at night. This was a deal-breaker for us. Same inside the room. The shower is very low pressure, the water gets warm very very slowly (if ever). We had mornings without hot water ! The air conditioning doesn't work properly either. The breakfast is nice but very monotonous The staff does their best to fill in guests requirements but we noticed that they never change or take breaks which is strange and can have an impact on their work capacity and motivation. Also it was sooo cold in the riad in January, we were freezing while having breakfast, which made us take just 10 minutes to eat

Riad Layla is a beautiful place in the Medina of Fes. The position is perfect it is inside the Medina but away from the chaos. The room was huge, well decorated and very clean. We had dinner twice there and it was one of the best meals we had in Morocco! Breakfast on the terrace overlooking Fes and the mountains is just an amazing start of the day. We took a day trip booked by the riad to the Atlas with a guide name Abdul, he went the extra mile for us, it was a very nice day. What it made our stay so nice, on top of everything else above, was the staff. Latifa and Mohamed are so kind and helpful and make you feel at home. Highly reccomeded if you want to have some relaxed days in Fes.

Very nice room with high ceiling and many windows that could open up for a view to the Riad’s common area- even the toilet but could be closed for privacy when needed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Rooftop view is amazing and breakfast was nice. The area was safe. The bed was clean and comfy.

Cons: From time to time, there could be a smell but we noticed it is not because of the riad but just that we are situated in the Medina area. If you need to leave the place earlier, might be good to inform the reception staff in advance as the main door might be locked for safety reason. Keys are also left at the reception before you go out on a day to day basis

- Nice roof terrace for breakfast - Very clean room

Cons: - Shower was cold after approx. two minutes. Left myself standing with shampoo in hair and ice cold water - Very dim lighting and cold in December - Another guest had to let us in because no one was at the reception (after we waited in front of Riad for 15 minutes) - We were instructed that dinner would be served at rooftop terrace, but were told after waiting for 25 minutes that it would be served downstairs - Staff accidentally walked in while my wife was changing. Without knocking first (and no reason to enter our room in the first place)

We loved our stay! Perfect location - in the medina area, but on a quiet street. Clean, modern but beautiful in style, amazing terrace to watch sunset or sunrise. Breakfast is terrific - yogurt, three types of pancakes and bread, eggs, etc. Host kindly met us to park the car because driving and then parking in Fes is overwhelming with “parking attendants” telling you to park in wrong areas. Super easy thanks to host. Would definitely stay again!

The room was as advertised and the heater worked great for the chilly evenings. Breakfast on the rooftop was breathtaking and the food was good. We enjoyed our few days here greatly. The room was very spacious and was well stocked. The room was very unique and we really enjoyed the ambiance and feel it provided. The host was very courteous and escorted us from and to our transportation upon arrival and departure which was very helpful. The riad is located in a great location very close to the blue gate and offered a great location for us to enjoy the Fes medina. We took a walking tour by the recommendation with the host and were happy with that as well. The breakfasts were amazing and rooftop and courtyard were a great location for meals. I would definitely recommend.

This was a great riad to stay in Fes. The room was big and overlooked on courtyeard. The view from terrace was awesome and breakfast is served that. The breakfast itself was very hearty and included local stuff and coffee. The people at reception were super helpful and one of them came out to pick me up where my car had left me. The riad also has hamam which looked pricey so I didn't tried it. The location is great, close to fountain square and the famous gates. Getting to medina main street just takes few minutes of walk.

Although the Riad is beautiful and clean, the bathroom had a musty/mildewy smell especially after a shower so we opened all the windows in the bathroom overnight to try to eliminate the odor but it did not work. Pluses: very cool room and building, amazing rooftop view, delicious breakfast. Not so good: guide (Idriss) and driver provided by the Riad were not trustworthy. Guided walking tour didn't provide a lot of information, more like going from vendor to vendor to sell you stuff. Restaurant he brought us to was also expensive and we didn't seem to have a choice as he just handed us to the waiter and went off to somewhere better I assume. While the owner of the Riad seems nice, because of the people she referred to us, the rating is lowered. I would come here again if not use the extra 'service' provided by the Riad.

Riad Layla is a beautiful boutique hotel. Very clean and recently renovated. It is an authentic riad. A mansion with an inner courtyard. Nice Riad inside the oldest Madina in Morocco. We were only there 1 night but we were very pleased with the room. It was very nice with a double bed for my husband and I and 2 twin beds for our daughters. The bathroom was fine but because the building is really old, there is a bad odor from the pipes if you don't close the drains (the staff told us about it so it wasn't a problem). Just don't expect modern and you'll be pleased. We arranged a nice dinner with the Riad which was very good. It was a started, a main and dessert for 15Euro per person. Glad we did that because we didn't feel like going out to find a restaurant after traveling 8 hours by car from the desert that day. Breakfast was nice, typical Moroccan style with mostly breads, jams, and a yogurt. Coffee and juice. It was served on the rooftop terrance, but in January, we would have been more comfortable in the lobby seating area where we had dinner the night before. It was too cold outside in the morning. I would recommend this place.

Riad Layla was a beautiful and well kept property. The location which was just on the edge of the medina was perfect for exploring the area. The view from the rooftop was spectacular as you can see the whole medina from up there. One morning we woke up early to watch the sun rise, and we were so glad we did. Our only complaint is that it was quite easy to hear the room next door. Not to say that all rooms have that issue but because of the way ours was designed with a wooden cupboard separating our room from the one next door, sound traveled through really easily. Otherwise we loved the hotel and would highly recommend it.

This was a very nice Riad. Nice rooms, although they had to give me a new room due to a bad smell in the original room, but all in all, very nice. Since the Riad is located on a very small street or walkway, vehicles have to park about a block from the hotel, so you have to lug your luggage over cobble and uneven walkway. There are guys there that will help you for tips.

Had the BEST stay at Layla. Kind and very helpful staff, a truly gorgeous Riad with modern design yet traditional charm, large airy rooms with beautiful decor and spacious bathrooms, great location, and a stunning rooftop terrace to top it off. Our AC broke and they quickly upgraded us to any room of our choice. Breakfast is simple but delicious. The beds were a little firm for my taste but seems to be the norm now that I’ve been in several hotels across Morocco. Would undoubtedly choose to stay here again if/when I return, Riad Layla was a great addition to our stay in Fez.

The rooftop view especially in the morning, is breathtaking, and I can see how you can just spend 2-3 days at the riad and unwind. It's also close by (10-12 mins walking) to bab bajloud, the main gate to enter the medina, and so offers good choices of transportation as well. We also got the couples hammam with massage, and it was a great intimate experience :D Highly recommend the hammam at the very least.

If you are coming to Fes (or Marrakesh), you'd be crazy if you didn't stay in a riad or dar. Riad Layla is a beautiful example of one. It's like staying at a museum or historical sight. That's not to say it isn't comfortable- it's a relaxing place to retreat to after a day in the Medina. And the location is great; a few minutes walking distance from the Blue Gate. The staff is good too. They sent me an email after booking to make sure I had transportation there (a huge plus for places like this, especially if you arrive at night) and offered a tour for my first day there- very reasonable price and highly recommended. There is also a wonderful view from the rooftop where morning breakfast is served. All in all, highly recommended!

The Riad is inside the old medina where it is so cultured and fun and interesting. The manager Fouad came to greet us where our ride dropped us off and helped carry my luggage to the Riad. It's just a 5 minute walk inside some alleyways. Fouad is a calm soft spoken young man and very good at what he does. Taking care of his clients. We were the only ones in the Riad at the time so we had his undivided attention. He offers tea or cold water when u arrive and gives u time to regain your composure after a long journey. He showed us a couple of rooms and let us choose which one we wanted. The rooms are great minus the stairs u have to climb. The owner explained that due to some limitations he cannot build an elevator on the property. It's fine in the end because it's a good workout for those who want to lose weight haha. We stayed in the mezzanine room which was spacious and had a rain shower which was awesome! The bed and pillows were comfortable and the musk and amber shampoo was soooo wonderful. Loved it! I had included a half board for our second night there which is a 3 course dinner and it was fantastic. My friend had beef tagine and I had fish tagine with couscous, cooked by Zohor. Meat was tender and juicy and fish was fresh! Breakfast was fantastic with different kinds of breads, omelette, jam, cheese, butter, yogurt, freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee. Soo good. All meals on the rooftop with a view of the city.

Riad Layla and staff were an absolute oasis in the midst of a less than stellar birthday weekend. We flew there specifically from Barcelona to celebrate my 50th birthday. I never had a better meal outside the riad, such were the skills of Layla's cook.. All of this has nothing to do with the riad itself, and so much more to do with the social interactions that we have as travelers. The staffing of Riad Layla is far beyond my means to praise enough. I just hope that the owner knows what an exemplary staff that he has in Raja, Fouad, and Zhor. Beyond our ability to verbally communicate at times, each one communicated to me and my girlfriend, that as guests in their riad, and country, that we were cared for as honored guests, even family. Fouad was kind, and quietly efficient tending to our needs, with bags or dinner. Zhor was just lovely, a beautiful woman, and gifted cook. And Raja, Raja was the epitome of kindness, caring, and exhibited an above average interest in the experience of her guests, far beyond merely sheltering them. If you find yourself weighing your options for accomodation in Fez, THIS is the place I would choose again, and again. Raja, thank you all. And thank you most for saving the birthday experience in Fez, with the cake, and all of you.

We had a great experience with Foad (the receptionist), he made us feel like home, he answered to all of our questions. The hotel is beautiful, with an astounding central courtyard, and boutique-style rooms, each with their own theme. We found the breakfast to be good, with a rooftop view over the medina, and the room was quite romantic. We were in the top room of the building, which opens up onto the rooftop deck. There were three minor drawbacks to the room, all of which are circumstantial and can't really be quibbled about: 1) the bathroom was open to the bedroom, with no dividing door. While this did much for the ambiance and overall aesthetic, it was a bit embarrassing to have to "do one's business" in front of one's bedmate. My girlfriend and I took turns hanging out out on the deck whilst the other took care of things. Secondly / thirdly, the building is in a thousand-plus year old neighbourhood, which means that the pipes are a bit smelly and tend to let in roaches. Make sure that you plug your drains when not using them. One really good thing about this riad is that it is towards the edge of the medina, so you or your porters won't have to haul your baggage as far into the medina from the parking lots that dot the edges. It should be noted that automobiles cannot get in or out of this neighbourhood, so this really is a noted plus. Overall we had a great time, and would stay at the hotel again.

I had always wanted to stay in a riad in Fes. But for the 2 years I lived in Morocco, I was working for Peace Corps and making a wage that meant I couldn't afford it. So when I returned to Morocco 3 years later, making a lot more money I knew staying in a riad was high on my list. I loved Riad Layla! Layla just happens to be my Moroccan name so that is what attracted me to it along with the picture. The room (suite Sara) was so beautiful and luxurious. Loved the bed, bathroom, the windows to courtyard, and the fact it was air conditioned! Absolutely loved having delicious breakfast on the roof. Staff was incredibly nice and welcoming. I recommend anyone to go to Riad Layla. A bit tough to find, as is any place in the old medina. If you have the address on you usually eventually some friendly people will either point or lead you there. Just also be aware there will be Moroccan taxes to pay on the spot at the end of your stay, around 130 dirham. I wasn't prepared for that.

I booked Riad Layla online from afar as a travel "present" for some family visiting Fes. All 4 family members (ranging in age from 9 - 75 years) say the stay was above their expectations, they loved their room, the bathroom, and the riad itself - and the staff was extremely accommodating both to them upon their arrival, and to me trying to book this from the U.S. Also to add is they enjoyed their breakfast, they found that a definite plus. Location is good. We are extremely pleased the stay at the riad was also one of the highlights of their trip.

We stayed for 2 night in this Riad. Our room was in the terrace (the only one), very beautiful, airy and pleasant room. Breakfast in the rooftop terrace very good; the staff was nice and helpful. Location is convenient, short walk to the Blue Gate and the medina. Accessible parking. Water in the hotel was too expensive, 40 dirhams where as it's around 10 dirhams outside (there was no free water in the room)

Riad Layla is a lovely property. The renovation is exquisite and the service is impeccable. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The only drawback was a lack of sound insulation from the neighboring room. Also, be ready to make extensive use of the Berber elevators in the riad (stairs). The location is on the edge of the medina, which makes it easy to wander into the labyrinth of the medina, or walk down to New Fez (the old Jewish neighborhood) and is a short taxi ride from the train station and nouvelle ville.

We had an amazing stay in Riad Layla! The place is BEAUTIFUL and the service full five stars. The room was huge and the place decorated with excellent taste. Staff was incredibly helpful and professional. They arranged a lovely hammam spa/massage in their own spa late in the evening with no hesitation, and a wonderful English speaking guide Hussein for a city tour with a short notice. We made a last minute booking and stayed for one night only but thanks to Riad Layla and their good ideas, were able to make the best use of our time in Fes. We've travelled the world and were very pleasantly surprised by this charming Riad! If we only could have stayed longer... I normally don't write reviews but Riad Layla deserved it.

An amazing, friendly staff who cater to your every need. The riad and the room were absolutely stunning. The location was also great. Set on a quiet street, but only minutes walk away from the main area of the Fez Medina. We highly recommend this riad.

We spent two nights at riad Layla and were delighted by the excellent service. Suki, our host, was on top of every detail and ensure we had everything we needed. The view from the terrace is impressive, you can see the whole medina and surrounding farm lands. The breakfast was delicious! The riad has two terraces, one well equipped for colder days with heaters and blankets, which we highly appreciated since we had very windy mornings. We highly recommend riad Layla for an unforgettable stay in Fes

Neighborhood very bad. No outdoor windows. Bathroom wall cracked. No window in bathroom so walls remain wet when you shower. Beds and linen were excellent

Riad Layla is very beautiful. The decor and attention to detail is impeccable. The beds are very comfortable and the toiletries provided are very nice. Breakfast is served on a terrace overlooking the medina which was a treat. I would suggest asking for a room that does not border the street. The street is surprisingly loud and the windows to the street are paper thin. The staff was very kind to move us to an upgraded interior room after we had a very noisy night in the mezzanine. My other advice is to arrive at the hotel already knowing what restaurants you would like to go to. The staff, although eager to help seemed to be pointing us to very touristy (like tour bus places) or empty restaurants. The riad does serve dinner which we did not try but looked good. Cafe Clock in the medina is fantastic for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We went twice when we were in Fez.

We stayed at Riad Layla from Oct 2 to 5 and were more than impressed. Riad Layla was the first place I've stayed that truly warranted a review (good or bad). From the moment you arrive you are treated like welcome family. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was good. Breakfast was delicious. Dinners were tasty and well prepared (a bit pricey though-similar to other riads and tourist restaurants). The views from the terrace are unbeatable in the morning and evening. As good as the facility is, it truly comes to life because of wonderful staff. The staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable......and more likely, memorable. Souky is without comparison when it comes to going the extra mile. From seeing us to the Dr's office for an emergency visit and arranging a car rental over the holiday (when none were open) to showing us incredible Moroccan hospitality during the holiday, this young lady goes above and beyond, and always with a smile. Michael is a great personality and will keep you smiling. The entire staff go about their business in a professional, yet personal manner. Thanks again, Courtenay and Jason

We stayed in Suite Alia which is situated on the roof terrace. The bathroom is fantastic with both a hand-held shower head and a ceiling drench-shower as well as toilet and double sinks. The riad is spotlessly clean, the food delicious and all the staff are fabulous. However, I must single out Souky as the most charming, helpful person you could ever meet and who sorted out our problems (nothing to do with the riad) with no trouble. Great view from the rooftop terrace and great location. The riad as a whole is incredibly beautiful and the courtyard feels as though you are in a dream.

The decor and style of the hotel was very cool and generally comfortable. The service was friendly and attentive, and the breakfast was tasty (excellent coffee!). Only minor complaints were the showers that didn't drain well and flood the bathroom, unpleasant smell coming up from the drain, and loud construction next door. . . some on which are not the hotel's fault. The location is also convenient, just outside the medina.

We booked on Expedia and pre-paid for 3 nights in the Zaina suite (for 2 adults and 1 child) in Jan/14. When we arrived at night in late March, we were told that we could not have our third night because of another booking (they bumped us) "but we will take care of you". They then tried to put us in a much cheaper riad buried in the medina (I also had purposely chose our location). It took 2 days of debate until I bluntly told them I knew we were being bumped, and I wanted an equivalent riad in the same area. They finally agreed. (They should have done this from the start, and an upgrade would have been nice, but not offered.) I also had asked for a refund for the last night (even cash - I had my bill) and I would find my own riad. This was also refused. We also were put in the Salma suite (not the Zaina suite I had purposely booked). It is on the ground floor and the doors/windows open to the very noisy central patio area where everyone gathers/passes by, so you have no privacy. When you shut the doors/windows, the room is very dark, even with lights. Also, there is a strong sewer smell coming from the bathroom (they had placed deodorizers in it) - we had to keep the door shut. The young staff were friendly and tried to be helpful, but they were not the one making the decisions. If we had the Zaina room as booked, I would be writing a very different review.

We only stayed here for one night, though after seeing it I wish we had been there for longer. The building is BEAUTIFUL, and our room (Mezzanine) was wonderful. As others have mentioned, this is the room without a bathroom door, though we didn't find it a problem as the room is spacious and there are nice sitting areas in the courtyard and on the terrace. The staff, Souky in particular, was extremely helpful in getting a driver set up for us and letting us use their printer for our next day's travels. Breakfast on the terrace was fantastic, and there's a nice view up there as well. I would definitely recommend it, and would stay here again if future travels take me to Fes.

Great place for a traditional Moroccan experience. Wonderful food, breakfast included, friendly staff, nice decoration. In the old city walking close to everything. All a plus. No elevator or TV in room. Wifi available.

The place has a good location in the medina like many other Riads in the medina. The food is excellent and fresh, the terrace could be more interesting than other Riads and I consider this an important advantage, especially to have a nice breakfast overlooking Fes in the morning. The people are very friendly, their level of service is high, particularly the friendliness at the reception where Souki makes sure your stay will be at its best. The Riad looks beautiful. I suggest you have their yogurt in the morning, pastilla (chicken or seafood), couscous or kafta for lunch or dinner. When you order mint tea make sure you ask for the pastries (kaab el ghazal is really good). Finally, the red wine they serve is not bad at all, and they are generous. It's not very easy to find this place, make sure you know your way around before getting there!

Thoroughly pleased. A real find, riad living the way it should be. Staff was extremely gracious and the owner was was a gem. Location was in the middle of the city and yet the riad itself was peaceful and calm. Wonderful room, real attention to detail.I heartily recommend this riad and hope you enjoy it as much as did I.

Our stay was lovely, the architecture is beautiful and the place is in top notch condition. As expected, not too easy to find the first time around but afterwards no problems at all. The location is quite good as a matter of fact. Great staff, always trying to make you feel welcome and at ease, and they certainly succeed. And the food was over the top, really. Would definitely recommend this and stay there again were I to return to Fes. One small quibble though, wi fi access is good in the ground floor only, but it´s not like you go to a place like this to surf the web...
