We very much enjoyed our stay here in this lovely hotel and grounds, situated on the south edge of the Medina. Special mentions to Mehania(?) on reception, and the porterage team, all very friendly and efficient. Also to all the staff in the restaurant on the top floor for service. The breakfast is spectacular. And my partner was delighted to spot 2 wild tortoises on the terrace!

Honest Review – Palace Faraj, Fez (October 2025) My wife and I stayed at Palace Faraj for three nights at the end of October 2025. I wanted to share our experience both to inform other travelers and to offer constructive feedback for management, in the hope it may support future improvements. I also must add that majority or review on TripAdvisor are by tour guides and operators which give skewed overall ratings. 1. Location – Excellent (5/5) The location is truly ideal — within a short walking distance to the Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud) and the old Medina, where most shops, cafés, and restaurants are located. The neighborhood feels safe and easy to navigate, with minimal risk of getting lost. 2. Architecture and Ambience – Exceptional (5/5) The building itself is magnificent. The mosaics, art pieces, courtyards, and salons are stunning and full of detail. The design and décor are aesthetically rich and reflect authentic Moroccan artistry. Simply put, the structure and ambience are what make this property special. 3. Staff and Service – Poor (2/5) This is where Palace Faraj falls short. While the staff seem generally polite, they are not well trained or service-oriented. Communication is minimal, and requests are often met with a nod but no follow-up. We received bottled water on the first day, but none on subsequent days — even the bottles we had brought ourselves were removed from our room. These small oversights added up and gave the impression of inattention and lack of hospitality. 4. Hammam and Spa – Very Disappointing (1/5) This was the most concerning part of our stay. We were looking forward to a traditional and relaxing Moroccan Hammam, but instead had a distressing experience. The heat gauge was faulty, and the temperature exceeded what felt like 120°F. My skin was burning, and despite repeated pleas to lower the heat, the attendant did not seem to understand or take the situation seriously. I had to leave early, feeling faint and nauseous, and spent half an hour cooling down with cold water. When we spoke to the manager, she seemed indifferent and only mentioned that a technician might fix the valve later — with no apology or gesture of goodwill. Unlike other Hammams we’ve visited in Morocco, we were not offered tea, water, or any refreshments. Overall, the spa staff appeared indifferent and poorly supervised. 5. Massage – Inconsistent (2.5/5) My massage experience was fairly good, but my wife’s was disappointing. Her therapist seemed inexperienced, possibly still in training. While both therapists were kind and well-meaning, it was clear that professional training and consistency were lacking. 6. Overall Impression – Beautiful but Mismanaged (2.5/5) Palace Faraj has tremendous potential — the architecture and location are top-tier, but the service, staff training, and guest care are far below what one would expect from a property of this caliber. We had hoped to return next year with our family, but unfortunately, after this experience, we will be choosing a different hotel. I genuinely hope management takes this feedback seriously and implements corrective measures. With proper training, attention to guest comfort, and stronger hospitality standards, Palace Faraj could easily live up to its physical beauty and achieve the reputation it deserves.

Bravo !

Based on its trip advisor we walked to this hotel, it was late morning and we intended to have coffee, drinks and maybe an early lunch. We arrived in blazing sun and were met by a rude, unprofessional and unpleasant security guard who simply told us that we were unwelcome unless we had a reservation. Two reasonably well dressed tourists. Avoid !!

Absolutely amazing, truly a masterpiece! Honestly, without exaggeration, this is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. We booked a standard room and they upgraded us to a luxury suite. The hotel itself feels like a museum — you could spend half a day just enjoying and admiring all the beautiful details. This is the kind of hotel I wouldn’t mind paying $1000 a night for. The staff are super friendly, awesome, and everything about the place is just great. The only issue is that they should improve the service of the dark-skinned waitress in the restaurant

A storied hotel with historic decor and beautiful common areas, almost museum like, located high with lovely views. My room on an upper floor on the central courtyard had a bedroom, sitting room and 1.5 baths. I’m a 6’6” and found the rooms to be cramped and was often ducking for chandeliers and doorways, claustrophobia inducing at times. The furnishing was old and tired and the rooms need an upgrade to match the common areas. The restaurant was okay and the breakfast average.

Cons: Dover andare via!

We had a wonderful stay at Palais Faraj Suites & Spa. The service was impeccable from the moment we arrived, with professional and attentive staff throughout. I would especially like to thank Madiha at the front desk for her exceptional service. She was always kind, professional, and attentive to every detail, making our experience even more enjoyable. The hotel’s restaurant was also a highlight — offering refined cuisine, excellent service, and a breathtaking view that made every meal memorable. I highly recommend this hotel for its outstanding service, elegant setting, and overall exceptional experience.

We had a truly unforgettable stay at Palais Faraj! From the moment we arrived, Madiha and Oumnia gave us the warmest welcome. Their kindness and professionalism stood out. they were always available, attentive, and very helpful with anything we needed, even until the day we checked out. Our room was absolutely beautiful . spacious, clean, and full of charm, with a stunning view over the Medina. Every detail was thoughtfully prepared, making our stay extra comfortable. The restaurant was also a highlight. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was impeccable. We especially enjoyed the Moroccan dishes . full of flavor and prepared with care. Thank you again to the entire team, especially Madiha and Oumnia, for making our experience so special. We’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend Palais Faraj to anyone visiting Fez

Stunning property right outside the Medina. It looks and feels like an old castle. We stayed in the Ambassador Suite which had a living room, two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The pool area is very clean and the water temperature was just right. Their food is top-notch. Highly recommend if you are visiting Fes.

We were excited to try this as was highly recommended. Upon check in, was shown several rooms. The room set up is awkwardly configured. Small tv only in living room and not in bedroom. No service by pool. Had to call if we needed anything. Spa was under renovation and wasn’t told this before we booked. Breakfast was decent but fruit wasn’t replaced. Service was fair. Beware that they do allow smoking inside the bar area. They were good with booking restaurants and getting us a guide and driver for the day. We wouldn’t stay here again as it isn’t luxury.

This hotel looks real nice but appearances aren't everything. The room didn't have any heat - 53 degrees in the room with one duvet and tile floors. When we contacted the front desk at 4:30am on our first night, they came up and agreed the heat didn't work. They didn't offer anything to get us warm - they were going to let housekeeping know at 9am, which didn't help. The heat wasn't fixed an that evening I went to the front desk - they offered a space heater, which we got. Bottled water was supposed to be supplied but they said that only the water in the room when we arrived was all that was free. Plumbing isn't very good. A large window between the bathroom and bedroom woke up someone sleeping if the other person got up to use the bathroom. This is not a 5 or 4 star hotel.

The hotel has a take-you-away feeling and the courtyard is beautiful and relaxing, even in the rain. The staff is welcoming and accommodating. We had a lovely room, which was modern yet felt like a luxurious palace too. The shower was great; however, one morning we did not have hot water. We had dinner at the restaurant one night, which was just ok. They do have liquor license but the wine choices were all very average. The breakfasts were great and had a lovely view over the city.

The Palais Faraj was kind of a letdown. Our initial impression was great. We went for drinks at the bar and the lobby staff was excellent showing us where to go and even getting us an elevator. The first impression in the bar was also fantastic. We were seated immediately, and the head bartender was punctual in taking our order. That is when it ended. The head bartender seemed to forget we were there. We ordered another round and some food from one of the other staff members and it never came, despite the order being repeated by the staff member 3 times. It is possible there was ordering or translation barrier with the staff, which the head bartender could have easily resolved by actually coming by our table, but he seemed more interested in talking with his friends than giving us the time of day. I eventually got up, corralled the head bartender to pay my bill, told him it was the worst service I had thus far in Morocco, and left (and yes, it was the worst service in Morocco because it was excellent everywhere else I went).

Arrived from Oberoi Marrakesh, and what a let down! A "5 star hotel", the lamp and the lights were all difficult to control with multiple switches to go back and forth that were not explained during our intoduction. The television was difficult, almost impossible to manoeuvre with 2 remotes, several channels missing. The shower was small with water spilling out on to the middle of the closet area, the service was sub par at best and the staff less than courteous compared to the other at Marrakesh, the property was close to the Medina so that was a plus. We did not bother with room service. Overall disappointing, we were certainly hoping for a better experience for what we paid for!

This hotel was an absolute disappointment from start to current. I am writing this during my stay as I am absolutely fuming. After a long 8hr drive to Fes we checked into this “5 star” hotel. Our prepaid, pre booked, non refundable room was somehow not available and we stayed in a temporary room for the night. We asked for a glass with ice for some sparkling water we brought along with us but this was not available as all restaurants were closed. I was puzzled to say the least, as many hotels offer ice at any given time (e.g. Rove hotel downtown Dubai 3 stars). I then called the front desk for in-room dining but this service is not available 24/7 (“5 stars”). The next day we were offered the room we booked and as soon as we moved in (2pm) I requested an extra luggage rack and bin for the bathroom as one was not provided. I have yet to receive both items, asked twice on the phone and once in person. It is now 9:15pm. The room also did not have a menu for in-room dining so I called them up and they offered to send down a menu. 20 mins later and I find myself going up to collect a menu myself. I am so devastated, so appalled at the poor service!!!! This is an absolute gem of a hotel, so thoughtfully designed and preserved, yet so poorly treated. The F&B manager Amin is the only reason I did not lose it at the front desk who told me my luggage rack and bin had been sent (I’m writing this in the courtyard outside), so I go back and check the room once more only to not find the items. I suggest not leaving trainees without a supervisor because the responses I received are not ones I’d like to share. When I shared my feelings of frustration one of the ladies working the front desk rolled her eyes at me. What a shame and a pity. The staff are not displaying the same excellence as the hotel, and do not match the interior. Do better.

The hotel was nicely design. All the staff were attentive and helpful. Especially when we checked in, the staff Abid (not sure did i spell his name right) he was extremely helpful. When we arrived, it was late afternoon and my parents were tired and couldn't deal with any more stairs. He was able to arrange the rooms with less steps and we really appreciated his help. Later on we had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it didn't disappoint us. The food was great and the staff were excellent again. Ismail Babache was patient enough to explain the dishes to us and fulfil our request also he was an excellent photographer too helped us to take some good pictures! Overall we enjoyed our short stay at the hotel.

The hotel is lovely, set on a hill overlooking Fes with spectacular views from the restaurant and bar. There are coutyards, beautiful Islamic ceilings, a swimming pool, big rooms, strong showers, comfortable beds with firm mattresses. The chicken tagine we had was one of the best meals we enjoyed in Morocco. It's easy to get from the Palais Faraj to Fes's amazing medina. The hotel staff is special -- extremely helpful and generous. Soufiame helped us a lot. This kind of attention makes all the difference.

Walking into the Palais Faraz is an impressive experience—the public areas are beautiful and exude a sense of grandeur. However, the experience in the room was less than stellar. The decor felt dated, though the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, the bathroom design was not ideal for privacy. It combined the closet, walk-in shower, and toilet in one open area, with only a glass door for separation. Additionally, the shower didn’t drain well, leading to water pooling on the floor. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a wide variety of options to start the day. However, the bar was surprisingly underwhelming, missing some of the standard offerings you’d expect from a 5-star hotel. The location is both a pro and a con—situated on a busy road but conveniently close to the entrance of the Medina. Overall, while Palais Faraz has its moments, it doesn’t quite meet the standards of other 5-star hotels I’ve experienced. There’s room for improvement, particularly in the rooms and bar service.

The way the staff had handled the issue during our stay was unacceptable! My original email with the request for an extra bed was approved with email confirmation, so it is not clear why I was denied the request once I got into the hotel. In addition to that, the staff member was just making up the new quotes and new rules on the go. When I asked them for an additional bed, first response was $50 By the time it took me to get to my room and come down to the lobby with the payment, the price went up to $55 Then this employee made a phone call and informed me that it was not possible to add a bed in our room at all. So either he and whoever he talked to on that phone - just made up their own rules or I was placed in the room smaller that was originally booked. Bunch of scammers! Hotel management didn't even reply to my email that i sent them upon my return home!

Lovely quiet setting

Cons: Bar service was very slow, had to wait 30 minutes for drinks and equally for the food (lunch). The service for dinner was somewhat better but the food very average, one of my guests ordered veal, which was definitely not veal but beef! We were recommended a guide who was a disappointment! His main preoccupation was to take us to his buddies for commission. Shared very little of the rich history, no madrassas, or any places of class, which we requested. Made a very poor impression of Fez to my VIP guests!

We booked this hotel based on the recommendations of our travel agent. We checked the hotel had 2 elevators. When we checked in we brought to a series of stairs and frankly were shocked . It seems none of the classic rooms are accessible by elevator. The hotel reports it’s on the web site but only if you go to the classic room and click on it. We were not happy and the hotel to its credit gave us a room on the ground floor which was an upgrade to a suite. But only for 2 nights. We had to pack up and move to the classic room which is quite lovely except for climbing 2 flights of stairs Overall service in the hotel which calls itself a 5 star is not what one expects. We had a bad experience in the restaurant as well. We reserved a room in the main restaurant with a view but on arrival were dumped in the breakfast room. My wife and I had to plead with the restaurant manager twice to get a table in the main restaurant next to a window despite the fact that there were empty tables. The physical property is beautiful and well kept up and the rooms are beautiful. We requested to speak to a manager but nothing happened til our travel agent got involved To their credit they offered us a massage and a free dinner. I am now in the new room and the TV is not working and it took all day to find it could not be fixed. Breakfast is bountiful and tasty and was the bright spot in this stay. If you choose to stay here book a suite and don’t expect too much in the way of service.Pool is nice but not heated.

Terrace of the restaurant. Quiet place. Comfortable beds and pillows. Friendly staff.

Cons: Bathroom quite small compared to the room. Shower in the bathtub, not very comfortable. Curtains in the room didn't close completely so meaning that at 06/06:30 your room is not dark anymore which is annoying for sleeping. Food was good but according to the price and the 5* venue could have been much better. The cafe/bar; very cold inside coz of aircon. They give access to the bar for non guests.

As a hospitality and luxury enthusiast. I cant tell you how impressed I was by this hotel. Very exceptional hospitality like I have never experienced before. Moroccan hospitality at its finest. The authentic tiles, the smell of roses, the quality furniture, everything is detailed and perfect. I will definitely want to stay here again. Thank you also to Meryem who took care of us an allowed us to check in late and check our early.

Authentic Moorish and well maintained Palace with a pool. Close to Old Fez. Few steps away from Medina. Gorgeous rooftop restaurant for diners and breakfast. Polite staff. Clean rooms , extra nice duvet on the bed. Parking inside is available for free. Strongly recommend. We were upgraded to a suit, as travelled in low season, that gave us an extra perk.

I stayed at the Palais Faraj just for one night and it gives me unforgettable emotions. The hotel has the best panoramic view in Fes. The restaurant on the rooftop offers different types of Cuisine: Moroccan and European. Both of them are amazing there. This is important part of my experience(!!): Unfortunately, after check out on the way to Marrakech I realized that I forgot my sweater at the hotel room. And thanks a lot for Manager Maryem. She did impossible really! She delivered me my sweater from Fes to Marrakech during 24 hours (!!!). I travel a lot, but I’m amazed by this type of service. She was so kind to me and helpful. We kept in touch until I got my sweater with me. This was priceless. I’m so glad for her attitude to me. Maryem, if you are reading this, thank you so much. I definitely highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful place needs attention. Wonderful restaurant and staff throughout. Floor of bathroom was dirty (unidentified brown substance), mattress high in middle, low on ends and at headboard. Pool and other areas being jack-hammered with tile removal which made sitting outside at restaurant during day unpleasant. We were emailed that pool was undergoing maintenance the day or 2 before arrival—past deadline to cancel and book with another hotel. Bathroom and rest of room so dark I had to use flashlight to put on make-up! I would recommend restaurant completely, but not a stay in the hotel.

One of the best Riads we stayed at in all of Morocco. It is just outside the medina so car can go to the property unlike a lot of others where you need to walk in the medina from car park to the hotel. Beautiful property, had a great view of the medina, spacious and clean rooms (not common for Riads in medina), excellent service and staff, even had a gym, good restaurant with live music that we loved. Breakfast had plenty of options with a fresh omelette station as well. Overall amazing Riad!

Great location just outside the Medina. Nice restaurant on the top floor and really good breakfast on the terrace! Room (suite) was very nice, super comfy bed and nicely decorated. The pool is a great place to relax, although the water now was too cold.

Cons: We chose the hotel for the pool , to relax in the afternoon . They said there was sun all day (until 5.30) , but it was not the case. We could sit at another terrace, and still got plenty of sun. The service around lunch and getting drinks was not very good: things were not available, we could not sit at the terrace. I would expect differently from a 5* hotel. Also, booking directly with them (live at the hotel) was more expensive then through booking.com. I thought they would be pleased, but the receptionist was not flexibel. So I booked online whilst being in the reception..a bit odd. But all in all it is a great place to stay whilst in Fez

The hotel has been designed and ornamented as an old Moroccan palace. Very beautiful.

Cons: The location is not great. It's true that it's close to the Medina but the access is through some alleyways that are not really safe. We got hassled a few times and we decided to take all the time a taxi from the hotel to the main gates of the Medina. However, stopping taxis at the hotel even with the help of the concierge was always quite tricky and took at least 20 minutes each time. The swimming pool has only sun for a few hours a day. After 2pm there was not more sun in the swimming pool area. The hotel staff was not really professional. We booked a private tour for the medina with them and the guide was not able to explain anything and limit himself to point stuff and tell us what it was. It also felt that he was not a real guide. In another occasion we asked to the hotel receptionist to tell us if it was safe to walk through the medina to go to a restaurant we had booked. The receptionist told us with a lot of conviction that it was totally safe while an other receptionist behind him rolled her eyes and denied with her head. The situation was almost comic. We called the restaurant and the owner said that it was not safe at all and came to pick us up at the hotel.

From the smell when you entered from the main door to the room, everything during our stay ( 4 days) was perfect. The hotel is curated with taste, decor with many details, and crafts. The service was impeccable. All this said, our stay would only have been this flawless with Kareem at the front desk and Badreddine ( breakfast restaurant). They went above and beyond to facilitate our first visit to Morroco. In addition, the cleaning service every day was impressive. After an exhausting day, the spa is a must, followed by the rooftop bar or the restaurant, both excellent (favorite: creme brulée). Many thanks and I can't wait to come back. The only thing I would change is to have an iron station in the room, as it took some time and several calls to get it;

Luxurious stay at the Palais Faraj hotel in Fes. It makes you feel like you’re in a grand palace with so many different spots to hang out and just admire the detailed decor. Gorgeous panoramic views of the Medina and afar from outside common areas. Staff was extremely accommodating, booked us reservations for dinner, gave good suggestions. We also had the F’Tour dinner buffet up on the terrace which was fantastic with plenty of veg and non-veg options. Thank you to the restaurant manager Khadijah for being so helpful and kind while we were up there. We were able to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout our stay even though it was Ramadan. Just an FYI in terms of drinks, they had no alcohol during this time. In city of Fes you might find a couple scattered riads that will serve foreigners, but don’t count on it. The location of the hotel is also ideal, many taxis always passing by and you can get to the medina within minutes by car. Also just a tip you can also utilize the hotel shuttle van by calling the hotel, for example after we finished dinner at Palais Armani one night, it was pretty late and hard to find a taxi, and the locals grab them up pretty quick, so I just called the hotel and the shuttle came within minutes, super convenient and safe. Lastly shout out the to spa staff, my wife and I did the Palais Du Ritual which includes a hammam experience with steam room, full body scrub/rinse with black soap, full body massage, relaxation time, etc!

The whole palais is beautiful. Our room had two levels with a "living room" on the first level and bedroom and bath on the second level. The swimming pool area is very nice for sunning and dipping. The restaurant has a great view and rooftop dining. The breakfasts are huge with lots of goodies and eggs to order. The food is excellent. The very nice staff did an excellent job of getting us to our excursions and restaurants.

I am almost at a loss for words to describe how much we enjoyed this hotel. It’s location, on the edge of the Medina is perfect for exploring this fascinating city but it can still be accessed by cars and touring vans. The property itself is gorgeous with several beautifully decorated courtyards, a stunning pool complex and amazing rooftop bars and restaurants. The bar even has a two for one happy hour on weekdays from 17:00 - 18:45. The food was delicious and reasonably priced and the service impeccable. The primary language used by the staff is French but all the staff were fluent in English. The service and view from the rooftop outdoor restaurant was perfect. Our standard room was small but it was decorated like a jeweled box. Moroccan tile on the floors and walls, ornate arched doorways, carved plaster accents, gorgeous wood cabinetry, a sumptuous bathroom and incredibly crisp bedding. The affable hotel manager was ubiquitous ensuring that all was in order and that guests were having a great experience. This was, by far, the best of the luxury hotels we visited in Morocco and honestly, it compared favorably to our favorite hotel ever, Ashford Castle in Ireland.

Cons: We did not find a single thing that was not up to or above our expectations.

Hotel location, facilities and staff are simply amazing. The hotel itself is so beautiful with numerous gardens and fountains. You feel like you are indeed in a royal palace. The staff is also 5 stars. We ate at L'Amandier restaurant and the food and service was just excellent. My husband had the unfortunate event of getting a kidney stone during out stay. He got terrible pain very late into the night. The staff quickly reached our to their resident doctor who saw my husband in our room within 20 minutes of our call. A staff member extended his shift to help us translate and even arranged with the doctor to have the medicines delivered to the hotel. They even treated us as family by loaning us cash as we didn't have enough Dirhams in hand to make the payments. They really treated us like family.

Property is lovely, both public areas and rooms. Restaurant is good, both for breakfast and dinner . Location is good. We had one poor experience where hotel recommended a restaurant in Médina and told us it would be easy to get there either by their driver or taxi. After we waited 45 minutes they told us we needed to hire a car for $30. Restaurant was very mediocre, near empty and expensive. I felt we had been set up to give business to a place that needed it. When I told hotel manager, he was quite indifferent. Reflected badly on hotel and their service ethic.

The views were incredible, the food was delicious (both breakfast and dinner), and the entire staff was warm and welcoming. The medina is about a 20 minute walk and there are some sites along the way. The only issue I had was with the heat. Our room never really warmed up. Luckily, the robes and slippers kept us content! Thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed here for 3days/2nighta during our stay in Fez and were quite disappointed with Palais Faraj...mainly because of the terrible food poising we got 100% from this hotel and poor service in the bar and restaurant. We ate all our meals in Fez ONLY at this hotel and got violent, fast, and furious food poisoning. My husband is a physician and was able to diagnose based on the timing and symptoms that it was mostly definitely from the “salads of fez” at the terrace restaurant. Avoid at all costs!!! The food was mediocre at best, but the service was just awful every time in the bar and restaurants. Also—the breakfast was disgusting. The breads were all stale and hard as rocks. They put unrated food from all week out and it is clearly spoiled. Definitely not a 5-star property.

The service at the beginning was exceptional. Good location and historic old building but several issues.......internet did not work during the entire stay in the rooms, toilet the first night kept making noises and we could not sleep the entire night which made our first day in Fez tiring, they charged me 48,000 MAD instead of 4800 on my credit card but they fixed it but the woman helping me was very curt. In addition, they have yet to respond to my email.

This hotel is in a restored mini palace, with a lovely courtyard and traditional carving and zellij tiling everywhere. It's a stunning building! You can have Moroccan tea and cakes in the gorgeous courtyard. The small pool is very peaceful. Breakfast was superb, the best we'd had in Morocco. And the staff were incredibly kind. The best part was our room, which was different than anywhere else I have stayed. Cosy but not crowded, it's a lovely space decorated with traditional painted wooden ceilings, zellij marble mosaics and stunning carving and scattered with Moroccan rugs. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable with good quality soft cotton linens. Finally the location is brilliant. There are amazing views over the medina from the bar and restaurant, but the hotel itself is nestled in the medina walls, not actually inside the medina. This means it's accessible by car (unlike hotels inside the medina) but also only a very short walk to most sights on the city. And it's open to the sky so it gets plenty of sun.

However upon arrival this female receptionist in a pony tail demanded us to pay 450DHS extra each night for an “upgrade”- a room between the toilets wih background lobby music played till 11pm. Would not come again thanks to that female staff member.

What an amazing stay in the desert! We stayed at the smaller 5 tent camp, which is truly surrounded by sand dunes. The service and food was amazing, and the location is unbeatable. We got to ride camels at sunset and sunrise for as long as we wanted. Note that there is no air conditioning or fans in the tents, and it was very hot for most of the night, but you are in the middle of the desert. It was totally worth it. We also hired a driver to bring us from Marrakech to the camp, then on to Fes after a 2 night stay. The driver was key because we never would have found the camp, and he brought us around to other places during the day when it was too hot to stay in the camp.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in my whole life. From interior design to room service, I couldn't find any flaw. Our experience in Palais Feraj was our highlight in Fez, and it conveniently locates near the medina. Try their restaurant at night in the third floor! They have beautiful view of Fez on the terrace!

Amazing experience at a beautiful hotel. The hotel was built like the riads and houses in the medina: not impressive from outside but absolutely gorgeous from the inside. The rooms are large, stylishly decorated in moroccan fashion and confortable. The bedding was not great, but otherwise the rooms put to shame any international hotel chain. The pool and spa were beautiful. Service was OK, but superior to anywhere else in Fes. The terrace and its views were simply breathtaking. The restaurant has a moroccan menu and a french/international menu.

THE HOTEL IS IDEALLY LOCATED, ESPECIALLY, WHEN YOU LEARN THE BACK AND EASIER WAY TO ENTER THE MEDINA - ONLY 5 MAD (5 CENTS) BY TAXI AND THEN A SHORT WALK TO ALL THE MAIN MEDRASSAS, HISTORIC SITES AND SHOPPING. THE STAFF WAS VERY ACCOMODATING. THE MEALS AND SERVICE STAFF WERE EXCELLANT. AFTER WALKING AND SEEING, I WOULD SWIM IN THE POOL, AND EVEN HAD A SPA TREAMENT, WHICH WAS ALSO EXCELLANT. THE ONLY DETRACTIONS ARE MINOR IN COMPARISON - FAILURE TO OCCASIONALLY REPLACE BATHROOM SUPPLIES WHEN USED, AND FOR ME, THE "HAMMAN SUITE," WAS REALLY NOT A SUITE, AND THUS, NOT WORTH THE ADDED EXPENSE. THOUGH, HERE, WHILE I DID NOT COMPLAIN OF THE LATTER TO THE HOTEL, IT OFFERED ME A COURTESY LIFT TO THE NEARBY POTTERY VILLAGE AND BACK - WHICH WAS GREAT.

It may be that our visit was uncharacteristic or atypical. We were greeted very nicely and offered tea and shown around the small but beautiful hotel. Our suite was on the back side of the hotel and hence the problems. We were in a second floor suite which looked directly on to untidy adjoining rooftops and at a minaret about 50 yards away. The call to morning prayers occurs an hour before sunrise. The amplified sound of the call was extremely loud and woke up all of us including kids. If we might have otherwise gotten back to sleep the rooster kept by a neighbor which crowed until well after sunrise put aside any hopes of that. After two days we asked if our room could be changed to the front of the hotel but were told that that was not possible. Breakfasts were excellent and well served. Dinner for the kids, pasta with butter, was quite expensive for what it was. The pool is small and cold. This hotel would be best without kids and on the front side of the hotel.

Superb staff, beautiful building, excellent location. We were upgraded gratis too: very kind. Ticks all of the boxes except for one: There is no heating in the communal areas. This makes for a cold hotel in winter. It's understandable because the hotel is large and would be expensive to heat during the low season when there are fewer paying guests. I understand too that this is normal in Fes, so perhaps this comment is unfairly applied to the Faraj, when the practice is widespread. Nevertheless, a hotel should not be listed as five star if it is not heated in winter. Everything else about he hotel is excellent and if you are visiting March-October ignore my comment. If you're visiting Fes in winter, check the heating situation with all hotels. To be clear, the rooms in the Faraj are very well heated, just not the communal areas. Message for the hotel itself: reception, dining rooms and bar should be heated in winter for a five star experience. Also a space heater or two could be placed in the atrium when its not too wet for sitting out at night. Thanks for your excellent service.

They tried to charge me twice for my ride to and from the train! The rooms smelled like Mold! And the Mosque was right out the bedroom window and wood wake us up at 4:30 every morning. There were mean guides right outside the door that yelled at us each day. And to op it off, one of the staff was stalking my daughter, which made it scary to leave our room!

We were thrilled with our decision to stay here and even ended up spending an extra night. It's a quick and easy walk to the Medina - by Bab (door) Ziat. The dinner restaurant is spectacular in regard to the food and views. The bar also has a wonderful view and a great place to go for a drink. The rooms were spacious and decadent in our opinion. The SPA was a true treat and I'd highly recommend doing a tleast one hamam if not two!

I have rated myriad hotels in the past, however, this is the first time I have written a review. Palais Faraj is an absolutely stunning hotel. There are seemingly endless, quiet and private areas to sit and relax; salons, a library, the beautiful outdoor patio, part of which overlooks the pool. It is the breathtaking views over the medina from the lounge and restaurants that won't be found elsewhere in Fes. The exceptional hospitality of the staff is the reason I needed to write this review. We are used to the concierge services of 5 star hotels, but this was incredible! My sister broke her leg a week before our trip to Morocco. Staff from Palais Faraj arranged a wheelchair for her use from the time our driver picked us up in Casablanca, during our 4 night stay at the hotel, and it went with us in our private car with driver through the Middle Atlas to our riad in Marrakesh, where we switched wheelchairs. Although we were prepared to pay for the rental of the wheelchair, the hotel wouldn't hear of it, they paid for the wheelchair. Here is the stunner: the morning after we arrived at Palais Faraj, there was a newly built ramp for my sister's wheelchair going down into the outdoor patio area. The owner had it built for her that morning. Wow! Lastly, our room was perfect. We had the triple. It has 2 1/2 bathrooms.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. It is superbly appointed, luxurious in every detail. The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. It is located at the entrance to the Medina so that a car is not necessary. Dinner is served on the rooftop terrace with magnificent views of the city and the mountains. I highly recommend this hotel.

This is an absolutely georgeous hotel near the Medina. The rooms are beautiful, the lobby, everything is frist rate as far as accomadations. Restuarant upstairs was very good, although a bit stuffy for my tastes. Breakfast is included and is a very good buffet. Excellent food, bread, etc. All in all, a wonderful stay.

The hotel is quite new and very beautiful. Has a luxurious feel. Service was outstanding, people are very willing to help and friendly. They assisted to arrange a guided tour of the medina. Food was also top quality. I would definitely recommend the hotel. My only minor vices would be that because the hotel is new it didn't appear in our GPS and therefore was a little hard to find. So just be prepared if you are driving. The location is however good as it isn't in the medina but just on the outside of it. Spa was nice but massage wasn't hard enough for my liking. Hammam suite only has a bath with the shower you hold, would have preferred proper shower. Minor vices, overall great experience and would choose this place again over anywhere else.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed. They upgraded me upon arrival to the ambassador suit which is very spacious and amazingly decorated. The style of the whole hotel is definitely "boutique", very moroccan, yet quite modern. Breakfast is huge, variety is better than other hotels that I stayed in this trip. Last but not least, the restaurant is so good, carefully prepared food with delicious local wine, chic atmosphere and warm staff. I high recommend this hotel. By the way, location is not bad too, I walked to medina by foot.

Palais Faraj was superb in a "rustic luxury" kind of way. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained/manicured, and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. We loved our suite, which had plenty of bathrooms and places to relax, and the hotel itself has tons of spots to lose yourself. We wish we had more time to just enjoy the pool and spa, but our stay in Fes was short. We did regret taking a tour recommended by the hotel because it turned out to be the tourist trap kind, where you're mostly shuttled from one carpet dealer to another until you're too worn out to see any actual sights.

a fabulous hotel in a gorgeous building, service impeccable, outstanding restaurant for dinner, very nice bar with live music, comfortable breakfast room with outdoor patio overlooking the Medina.Only downside I can thnk of is if u are without a car u would need a taxi to the main entry points to the Medina.Other than that we paid 205 Euro for a suite for 3 people and found it well worth the spend.well done Palais Faraj!

The staff were welcoming and keen to please, if rather obsequious at times. All spoke French and some English. We often used room service, because of the price of lunch and dinner in the restaurant, and generally it was good. The weather was unusually cold and wet, so we spent more time than expected in our suite, which was very comfortable. The comfort of the hotel was an antidote to the squalor and clamour of the Medina, which we thought had been unnecessarily preserved in its Dark Age condition.

I had such a wonderful time, restful time at the Palais Faraj. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and attentive whenever I asked. I also loved the view from the incredible view from the bar and the restaurant, especially at sunrise and sunset, and the live music late at night. The spa was absolutely beautiful and the hammam experience was one of the nicest that I have experienced in Morocco. Palais Faraj is a peaceful hotel looking out onto the Fez countryside. I hope to have the opportunity to stay at the hotel again!

The Hotel looks very nice and right beside Fes old city. The room was nicely decorated and spacious. Room service was great. Fes doesn't really have a night life and the hotel was a good place to hang out. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced. (Loved the spaghetti from room service menu). The only bad experience we had was with one of the guys in the reception who was kind of rude but the rest of the staff were really nice, polite and helpful.

We stayed at this hotel based on the reviews we read. I'm happy to say that we were not disappointed! This is a fabulous boutique hotel, located in between the old medina (historic district) and the new medinas. The location is perfect! The staff are professional and very helpful. The food was excellent. We really enjoyed the architectural design of this hotel, that showcased historic Moroccan artisan work with modern elements. Just know that rooms are Moroccan style with narrowish walkways. It was great and we highly recommend this hotel!!
