Amazing interior, excellent breakfast. It's few minutes walk to Jemaa el-Fna. We felt a bit uncomfortable when we arrived because of the neighbourhood, but we were assured it's a safe area. Hammam and massage was a great experience, I recommend it.

Our hosts were fantastic - the warmest welcome and a quick tour, before letting us just get on with feeling at home. Which we did almost immediately! We were spoilt for choice of spaces to relax and enjoy the gorgeous decor - so many lovely things to look at - and it mostly felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Delicious breakfasts in our choice of spot each day. Lovely, comfy room, with everything we needed and a really pretty view into the courtyard. The spa treatment was blissful and not to be missed. We had it on our first day and it set us up perfectly for a relaxed break. The location was spot-on, being an enjoyable 30-minute stroll to Jemma El Fna, mostly along Rue De La Kasbah - a bustling feast for the senses, with a friendly local high-street feeling. On booking, I enquired about a walking trip in the mountains and our hosts kindly arranged a driver and a guide for us, who were brilliant company and gave us a truly memorable day out. We really couldn’t have asked for more from our stay at Riad Alma.

The Riad is stunning and exceeded expectations. It is in a great location within the Kasbah, giving you easy access to the busy streets. Inside the Riad is incredibly tranquil, making it a perfect place to relax after exploring the city. The staff are friendly, accommodating and go above and beyond for you. The rooms are beautiful and clean, whilst the food provided is delicious. Dinner there was such a great experience against the backdrop of the beautiful decorations inside the Riad. I can’t fault our stay there. I highly recommend.

Ahmed and team at the Riad were incredibly friendly and helpful. We really appreciate their support and for going out of their way to accommodate our preferences. Breakfast was superb and super tasty with the parathas and vegetarian eggs in the tagine.
Cons: Only small thing to alter would be to make the shower step a bit higher or with a door to avoid water going out of the shower - a light in the shower would be helpful too. But overall an incredibly comfortable room with amazing staff.

The staff are exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble. The Riad itself is totally authentic, a wonderful place to relax in. So many areas. The Hamam is a must. The breakfast is superb although we felt guilty because there was no way we were going to eat it all. Dinner is worth having definitely. In short Riad Alma is the Moroccan experience.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike about the property. It is situated in the Kasbah and with that comes the challenge of finding your way about; although in all fairness the walk to the square isn’t that complicated and is fascinating in its experience. If in doubt a taxi or tuk tuk will always get you around.

Wonderfully cozy and atmospheric Riad in the middle of the medina (but perfectly located 10min walking distance from the hustle and bustle of the Jemaa el Fna). The whole staff are out of this world! Omaima, Ahmed and Soulayman made us feel welcome from the first minute, and have been helping us adjust to last-minute travel plans, taught us a few words in Darija, and had plenty of recommendations of what to see, explore, and local advice. The food at the Riad is also one of the best we had during our trip. And after the bustling streets of Marrakech, coming back to the Road always felt like arriving in an Oasis of quiet and peace. We shall be back - inshallah 🙏 Thank you so much for making our stay in Marrakech so memorable!

Absolutely outstanding stay at Riad Alma cannot thank the team including Ahmed enough for making me feel so welcome, so relaxed, so pampered. I am well travelled and can say this is one of the BEST stays I have ever had. From the minute I arrived and Ahmed assisted with bags, choosing a room and dinner I just felt so happy and chilled out. The room was just stunning, immaculately clean and decorated so beautifully. The bathroom was spacious with beautiful artwork and details- all a modern touch on the traditional. The terrace is divine and I was served my own dinner up here and Ahmed even went to the trouble of bringing up a speaker for ambient music. The wine was lovely (and well earned after summiting Mount Toubkal that morning). The spa…. Absolutely INCREDIBLE! I felt like a new woman, three hours of treatments left me feeling like I was walking on clouds. Thank you so so much I don’t know what more to say- a 1000/1000 experience, 6 stars!

The riad is situated in a quieter, more residential area and feels welcoming and safe. Great plunge pool for relaxing after a day exploring. Lovely decor and room. Staff were very helpful in arranging an airport transfer.

Breakfast was very good, basically bread pancakes croissants, fruit and condiments. Eggs were available if wanted. We liked the large soft bathroom towels. Lots of places to sit outside the room, although we also had a shared terrace. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
Cons: The dinners were below average. The blurb says they have staff who worked in the kitchen of Al Mansur, so we expected good meals. We ate dinner twice in the hotel. There was only a selection of about 6 tajines for main course. The cock was very dry.

The property was beautiful, it was quiet and had an authentic feel. The food was delicious, so I recommend you eat dinner here at least once. They don’t sell wine per glass btw, which is understandable. The staff were super nice and helpful. Massage was nice!
Cons: The room description for our Junior Suite wasn’t as described. There were 3 of us staying for a couple of nights and we wanted a bit of space. It said it had its own pool, private terrace and entry as well living room and separate bedroom. Everything was in one room, we didn’t have our own terrace, the bathroom was upstairs. We did query this but was told it was the only room that can accommodate all of us. The room was nice nevertheless and we worked with the lack of space but it was a little frustrating.

Cons: As a tip to other guests planning to stay here please get a transfer from the airport. We were dropped outside the walls and it's like a rabbit warren trying to find the property. We loved our stay at the Alma. Fabulous rooms (bright, comfortable and beautifully individually designed in modern Moroccan style), really good service, wonderful breakfasts (enjoy on the roof terrace or in the courtyard, depending on weather) and it’s very quiet at night. It’s located in the bottom corner of the kasbah, so slightly out of the busiest area although just a 5 min walk from the central mosque, 10 mins from the main square and 15 mins walk from the medina. But it actually works as it’s a quieter, more residential part of the kasbah. However once you walk outside the Derb (the little neighbourhood where it’s situated) you’re in the busy kasbah, with all the noise, bikes and chaos. Which is fun. So you get the best of both worlds - the noise and the oasis feeling of the riad. Service was very attentive, no issues at all. The hamam downstairs was a lovely experience - worth a try if you’ve never done it. The ambience is very chilled, very relaxed and felt homely. If you want a real riad experience, heartily recommended. You can pay more and get more luxury, but honestly not worth it.

We liked the location, the decor of the riad, the nice staff and the comfort of the room. The massage with Souad was amazing! The food we ordered (tajines) was also excellent.
Cons: Area of improvement: - hammam: I was expecting a better hammam experience, she quickly put the black soap on our body and rinsed right away without leaving it with the steam. (usually you leave the soap for 15/20 min) - also no ghassoul

Cannot say enough good things about this place: Mohammed and Ahmed were polite, kind and very helpful. The other staff were incredibly amazing too, as the whole Riad is spotless and we enjoyed wonderful breakfasts. It’s bigger than we thought, and the attention to detail is amazing. Location was great for us as it’s quiet and only takes about 25mins to walk to the main square, although you’ll easily find a cheap taxi if you prefer. We loved having a drink by the pool or on the roof garden, or walking round the corner to Cafe Clock. We stayed in a hotel on our last visit, but the comfort of the Riad made it a much more special experience. We will definitely be back before the end of the year.

Beautiful Riad with lovely art and decor. We stayed in the apartment and absolutely loved the gorgeous, sprawling terrace right outside. Staff was super friendly, very helpful and flexible to accommodate special requests (e.g. early check-in, early breakfast, organizing transportation, etc.). The room was lovely decorated and had a nice (shared) balcony, with a large comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom. Special mentioning deserves the excellent food (especially dinner) and the very relaxing Hammam ritual and massage.
Cons: The room was right above the kitchen, which naturally led to some noise at times (especially noticable in the morning, if you want to sleep in). Location: walking to the large square in the city centre (Jemaa el-Fna by the Medina) takes about 20min

One of the best experiences I've had! The riad itself it's just BEAUTIFUL! I stayed there with my mum and aunty for 3 nights in a massive room with a double bed and a sofa bed. The bathroom was unreal made in marble. Would love that for my own house! The room has acess to a small private terrace but also to the main terrace of the riad. Breakfast was included and it was a nice spread including yogurt, their local pancakes, pain au chocolat, fruit salad, bread, jams. I've never finshed all of it as it was a lot! We also had dinner there every night and those were quite good too. I recommend the lamb tagine. I also want to mention the staff who went above and beyond for us from booking us taxis and a guide to helping me buying a tea pot and glasses. Super nice people and always available and helpful! We also met the owners who were super lovely. Honestly recommend this place!
Cons: If I have to find something it will be the location. It's very central in the Kasbah. However, it's not on the main stree so the taxi can't get there and we found it challenging to find and we made the decision to go back to the riad before the sunset every day. The Riad it's 3mins walking from where the taxi will stop and it's a bit of a labyrinth to get there. Having said that, Ahmed came to meet and help us with the luggage when we arrived (they sent a shuttles to pick us up from the airport)and also helped us when we left.

My wife and I booked for our 35th Wedding Anniversary Trip to Morocco and chose the Riad Alma in Marrakesh as the place to stay for its charm and location close to the palace and it being in the Medina. Our booking was for 11 days and we were lucky to have Ahmed as the Ried Alma Manager and Concierge. The Riad is run as a hotel but you receive personal service of the highest quality. The amenities of the dining areas to choose from, the pool, the lounges from the first floor to the roof and its great views were well worth after a hot long day of excursions to the Atlas Mountains and to the seaport of Essaouira. The staff is wonderful from the meals served and the services offered such as the Hamman massage. But the Concierge services offered by Ahmed were invaluable for we had 6 excursions from Riad Alma and all claimed by email and text that they would be picking us up at our Riad and at the last minute they would change the pick up to a distant location! Ahmed, saved the situation by talking to each of the excursion company’s owners/managers/drivers to have them uphold their agreement to time and place of pickup and return. He is outstanding person and one of the best manager/concierge I have come across in all my years of travel. We loved our room and the staff was perfect in the meals and cleaning. We also appreciated the laundry services. So complete your stay and give Ahmed and his staff a try at the Riad Alma.

The team was really helpful and tried their best to accommodate us, they explained about the city tours and provided us with a detailed map of the best areas and locations. Also the surrounding is fully serviced and you can walk to restaurants and historical places.
Cons: The location is at the corner of the city and the building is not reached by taxi and you will face difficulties if you are like us traveling with several bags. Try not to enter some areas of the city at night as we faced some kids/teenagers fighting and acting weird.

Riad Alma is a lovely place to stay. We had 4 rooms and stayed 4 days. We the rooms were combination of rooms and suites. All are very spacious, designed with a stylish Moroccan touch, lovely toiletries in the bathroom, very clean and well equipped with beautiful local jewels. Each room opens to a balcony where you can sit outside and enjoy the quite atmosphere of the riad. The Riad itself is an oasis of calm and tranquility. Two courtyards, one with a nice small pool. Plenty of common space where we were able to gather together. All the public spaces are decorated with beautiful authentic style. Everything made the feeling of a lovely living home. There is a beautiful rooftop where rich breakfast is served. It's also a great place for sunrise and sunset. Our experience was made more delightful by the kindness and patience of the staff. Ahmed is always around to help with a smile. The food prepared by Khadija was the best food we had in Morocco. We had dinner twice in the Riad, as going out to eat after our first dinner at Riad Alma was not an option 😊

We had an absolutely superb 7 nights at Riad Alma. The staff are just so kind and helpful, nothing is too much bother. The riad is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and has lovely facilities. It is in an interesting area of the city but calm and tranquil. You can eat in,we had a tasty traditional meal which we asked for at short notice, or there are many lovely restaurants within a 10minute walk. You can then return to share a bottle of wine either in the courtyard beside the pool or on the starry roof terrace.

Home a way from home. Wonderful decor, comfortable and large rooms. Rooftop for both sunrise and sunsets. Pleasant and helpful staff. Excellent food- probably the best couscous we had in Morocco - 20 min. Walk or 10 min drive from Jamaa El Fna.

Down a dusty, winding passageway in a working part of the medina, past motorbike repair shops, men’s and women’s clothes shops, butchers, bakers, woodworkers, children playing in the street, potted plants, building sites, ever winding until you come to a number on a terracotta wall, through a studded wooden door into an beautifully cool oasis, quiet where outside was a clamour of clashing sounds and colours, inside all is tasteful and calm, a mint tea is brought and soon you are shown to a room which is perfect. Later you can have wine before a dinner prepared and served by women who know exactly how a tagine is the best way of making the best of local ingredients. Or you can venture out into the wild, beautiful night of Marrakesh and sample the delights of a thousand different eating places. Next day is another adventure!

We had 3 wonderful nights in Marrakesh. We were able to enjoy the hustle and bustle whilst escaping to the peace and quiet of Riad Alma. It’s tucked away on some quiet back streets so recommend the airport transfer as they walk you up to the door, although it’s well signposted. The team welcomed us with mint tea and we didn’t have to wait long for the room to be ready. The whole place is beautifully decorated and our room was lovely. Only a few small things - the shower didn’t attach to the wall and there was no hand soap and a few things in the room were broken. The breakfast was really nice, you could have it when you liked, you were given a generous spread although there was no choice but it was all very tasty. The pool is nice for a dip and a cool off after a hot day sightseeing but it’s not really big enough to swim in. The proximity to the sights is not too bad but in July when it was in mid 30s we struggled a bit with the walk and had to take cabs a few times. They will help you find one if you need help. I think the thing that impressed us the most was the hospitality. No request was too big or too small, the team were super friendly and we really felt at home during our stay. I would definitely recommend Riad Alma.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Riad Alma for a week and we had an amazing time. Great service, delicious food and very clean. Unfortunately I can't give it a 5 star as the hotel was very echoey and a little bit far away from everywhere - we'd had to get a taxi most places. If you're looking for somewhere that is quiet but not too far away from the madness of Marrakech, this is the place for you.

My friend and I came to Morocco and stayed at Riad Alma before driving to the Sahara. We were met by Ahmed who was so friendly and welcoming we immediately felt at home. The Riad is intimate and yet has plenty of room for you to have privacy. It feels like you are staying with good friends. The owners, Samira and her Jacques, were there as well with their friends and they invited us to dinner and immediately we fell in love with the place. I almost don’t want to tell people about it because i want to keep it my own little secret.... it’s really special. We arrived late upon our first night and they had prepared a DELICIOUS lamb tagine dinner on the rooftop Terrance for us that we still talk about to this day. It was perfect and we have since asked for the recipe because it was the best food we had in Morocco. They kindly shared this with us. We had booked a different Riad after our trip to Sahara and were so sad not to have been at Riad Alma that we ate there again for the lamb tagine, walking at night through the windy streets ...risking getting lost at night just to be back with Samira and everyone at Riad Alma. Ahmed walked us all the way back to our other Riad and we have been talking about how great they were to us ever since. We adore Riad Alma and highly recommend it. Thank you for a wonderful stay!! I look forward to coming back.

Loved the local scene, kids playing in the alleys, locals going about their daily busy routine... Riad Alma was very clean, well organized with an authentic moroccan feeling. Ahmed was extremely professional and helpful, could not praise him enough. Breakfast was fresh and the ambiance in the interior garden was surreal with the birds chirping. Can't wait to go back :)

My husband and I had a lovely time staying at Riad Alma for 5 nights. The staff are very attentive to your needs ,one day I was sick with a cold and they had breakfast delivered to me in bed since I could not go down to the dining room. If you requested a taxi at night for a restaurant then Ahmed at reception would wait with you until the taxi arrived and would walk with you down the Medina alleyways late at night.. we had a lovely 3 course dinner on our last night very tasty. Riad Alma is a nice hidden Oasis form the crazy hustle and bustle of the main square Jemna-el Fna... lovely rooftop unfortunately the weather was not as nice as we had hoped to enjoy the rooftop...maybe next time. Rooms are clean and quite spacious...only things I would complain about is that our shower would leak outside quite a bit but the water was powerful and warm..also waking up to the birds at 7am seemed nice but there were so many it seemed living in the trees so could get very noisy..such is nature ! WiFi can be spotty but you are on vacation so who cares..would recommend to family and friends to stay here Thank you for the hospitality Riad Alma Kavitha and Nathan

This Raid (Guest house) in tucked into a corner of the old Kasbah, it is a hidden gem and one you'll be so happy to have discovered. From the outside it cannot be judged but the moment you walk through the door - WOW!! Owned by Pierre (French) and his wife this guesthouse is stunning. The public lounges are beautiful, the bedrooms are just super and I think we had the lowest priced one (I did see a suite and it was georgous). There seem to be no rules ... If you want breakfast at 6 then you get it ... or much later if you wish. We had three course evening meals on at least three occasions and they were excellent. There is Wine and Beer on request as well as snacks too ... my wife had a massage and truely enjoyed that. The staff simply CANNOT be faulted, nothing is too much trouble - I hope you are getting the picture, Raid Alma is TOP CLASS in every way possible. Could I ask for more ... If I was super picky then a kettle and tea/coffee in the room but this is an English thing! All I can now say publically ... A BIG THANK YOU Pierre and your wonderful staff, you made us so welcome and we will certainly be back next year!!

Small but perfectly formed, the Riad Alma is - like most traditional North African buildings - accessed by a rather inconspicuous door in the wall of a street. Inside, there is again the traditional layout of rooms around a central courtyard - or 2 courtyards in this case. What can be more lovely than to sit in a courtyard which is largely shaded by the walls of the riad rising around, listening to the tinkling of a fountain, with traditional and ornate decor all around, with exotic beautiful plants growing up the walls - bougainvillea being my favourite. And all 15 minutes' walk from the majority of the attractions a foreigner is likely to want to visit (though a taxi would be indicated to the Jardin Majorelle). Though it should be noticed that the night we arrived there were some local staying also - not just a venue for tourists. Of note: - high quality traditional decor with modern comforts in all of the guest rooms (of which there are maybe 10?) - easy going approach - breakfast is whenever you get up! The attentive staff note you have risen and bring you breakfast, which in the case of our family went on for quite some time as various people surfaced out of their beds - very caring approach to their guests - a daughter of ours had a medical emergency late at night and the owner took us to hospital and insisted on waiting until it was all finished - rooms with extra blankets etc.available - wifi throughout, though best reception in the common areas A great place to stay.

I've recently stayed at Riad Alma . Though difficult arriving there ( in the middle of the Medina of Marraquech where you will certainly get lost without a guide) it worthes every obstacle in the way. When arriving you are received by Khadija, one of the most agreable, efficent, nice and calm woman I met in Marraquech . We were exausthed after carrying our heavy bags through the Medina's labyrinth, guided by a boy who knew the place as much as we did ( which means he didn´t) under a torrid sun, but we were so calmly received with a mint tea and a smile that in few minutes we forgot our ordeal. The Riad is super clean, beautiful, it smells as heaven , the rooms are very , very nice , and you absolutely have to eat there. We had the best food in Marraquech, there. The breakfast was also very good and abundant. We've experienced the Hamam and the massages and it was a very pleasant moment. The Riad also has a little swimming pool which is ideal for a relaxing bath . To sum up: it might be a little priced considering other Riads, but it worths every single penny. The food is super, the rooms very good and the atmosphere great. The only advice I give you is to find a proper transport and guide till there. Besides that, 5 stars!! Thank you to Khadija and the rest of the staff that made our 2 days a must.

We wanted the Riad experience since it was the first time in Marrakesh. Among the reasons we selected Riad Alma was that is have very spacious rooms if you book one of the suits. The price for the suit was also attractive compared to many other rooms with similar size. The riad is located in the southern part of the Medina with walking distance to Saadien tombs, Bahia palace and Jeema el Fna square. Tricky to find but we took an airport shuttle to the hotel the first day and learned the location. Mourad and the team was outstanding and provided very good service throuout our 7-night stay. We got upgraded to the apartement on the roof but it's not superconveinient. Quite some noise reached the apartment and we also start smelling a bad odour so we swithed to a suite with windows to the inner yard which was much better. Pros: - Great service - Good lunch food (Tagine, what else?) - Walking distance to most attractions in the Medina - Tasty breakfast - Good room size for a riad Cons: - Although the breakfast was tasty, it became a little bit boring to have the same for 7 mornings. Greater variation would be nice. - The beds are hard. Of course, for some people, this is an advantage.

My wife and I recently returned from a long weekend in Marrakech. We pondered on several Riads but decided to go with Riad Alma based on its excellence reviews. On arrival we were not disappointed, we were welcomed into the opulent Riad by owner Maurad, whom really couldn’t do enough for us throughout our stay. Location was ideal for us, nestled in the less busier south Médina but only a 15minute stroll to the Jamaa el fna square. A truly wonderful eye opening trip enhanced by the beautiful Riad Alma.

This is a lovely Riad to the south of the Kasbah. Our room was of a generous size with a large, if somewhat firm, bed. The room had a shared verandah, that overlooked the courtyard containing the small plunge pool, a sizeable en suite with shower and plenty of wardrobe space. The hotel, which is really a large house, is located at the end of a series of narrow lanes and thus away from the noise and chaos of the old city centre. This does have the drawback that it is a fair walk to the main square and souks (20 mins) and to the Ville Nouvelle (3.3 miles or 1hr walk) but taxis are available for most of the way at reasonable rates if you haggle. The staff were absolutely brilliant and always eager to help. Food in the Riad was very good albeit limited in choice. Nevertheless, they always were attentive and on two occasions insisted we have lunch on the roof terrace so we could enjoy the sunshine.

We stayed at Riad Alma for a week and it was one of the highlights of our holiday. Our room was beautifully decorated with outstanding attention to detail. We had a large terrace overlooking one of the central courtyards which had a pool. Mourad, the Riad manager was extremely helpful. He gave us a map on the first day and explained to us where all the attractions are. He was always available and very helpful whenever we had questions. The three ladies working at the Riad were also very friendly and they served us a delicious breakfast on the terrace and in the courtyard. They also cooked dinner for us as we got there late and served us breakfast early when we had excursions. We were fortunate to meet the owners, Pierre and Samira and like the rest of the Riad Alma team were very hospitable, friendly and helpful. They also invited us to join them and some of their friends for champagne on the terrace. The hotel is an oasis of peace in a residential area compared to the hustle and bustle of . It is situated just a 10 minute walk to Jamma Al Fina. And yet as soon as you step in the alley that leads to the Riad you are in a totally different world. We also loved the fact that because it's in a residential area we were mixing with the local people rather than being cut off from the true Marrakech. We would like to thank Mourad, Samira, Pierre and the rest of the Riad Alma team for making our stay in Marrakech one to remember.

Beautifully decorated, perfect lounging areas on the roof and around the pool and a very friendly and accommodating staff. During our 4 night stay, we were treated extremely well - even had dinner there one night which was exceptional. Our room was very clean, modern lay outfitted and perfectly sized for two. Mourad was able to secure us transportation for a day trip. The one downside would be the distance to the Medina/heart of the city. But it was very safe to walk and definitely tucked away from the business of the Kasbah streets. I will stay again on my next trip!

I can't recommend Riad Alma highly enough. Hidden away through a maze of back streets, Riad Alma is a welcoming and tranquil place to stay. Moirad, the owner, greeted us with big smiles and lots of helpful advice on our first night and throughout our stay, he could not have been a better host. He made us feel so welcome and happily helped us with everything we asked for, including arranging taxis to restaurants to save the bother of having to negotiate fares and a trip to ride some camels. There were always staff on hand to help with any requests too. We stayed in one of the rooms with a private balcony and enjoyed our morning tea and coffee overlooking the courtyard watching the little birds hop about. I would definitely go back.

The staff was fantastic, very accommodating, friendly and always smiling. They went out of their way for us at all times to the points to even show me around the city one of the nights on their own vehicle and take me to a local Shisha Bar, cook me any food I want and recommend us a restaurant (which was sincerely, very upscale and fun). The day before me and my friends arrived we asked to have beers bought for us and "voila!" when we arrived they had bought a 48 pack. The atmosphere was fantastic as we literally had the whole place for ourselves (the terrace is amazing) and in the morning you wake up with the birds singing just outside your window. The decoration is impeccable and really gives you the feel that you are in Morocco. Of course it was not perfect, but nothing is. My room had not "hot" water, it was just body temperature, which was fine by me. The neighborhood looked a bit rough, but then again, we decided to stay at the "real" side of town (Medina) where we could see a bit of the real Marrakech. If you want to go to a really nice restaurant go to "Le Comptoir Darna" I swear you wont regret! If I ever go back to Marrakech I would not think twice, I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Situated perfectly a short 10-15 mins from Jenna el fna square. Nearby to amazing street food vendors in Kasbah area, healthy, fresh and most importantly cheap food (compared to tourist sections). Staff at Riad Alma are so welcoming and friendly and so easygoing. Breakfast is fresh and personally prepared by the staff. We were fortunate to have the Riad to ourselves and felt so homely watching some late night TV in the lounge surrounded by rustic morroccan furniture.

Don't be put off by its location and the route you have to take to find Riad Alma, it's all part of the experiance. The Riad it's self is full of tradition and individuality. We booked the airport transfers well in advance and independently as no one answered the hotel phone in the weeks before our arrival. We were greeted by 'George' who tried to tell us about the Riad and how to get about in marrakech, unfortunately we didn't speak much french and he didn't speak much English. That said we asked for a snack due to long journey and were amazed how quickly the staff rustled something up. We never saw George again throughout our 5 day stay! We found that we were left to sort things out, which wasn't a problem to us but may be if you're used to being pampered. This is the sort of place that if you want something, you have to go and find the staff and ask. Don't wait to be asked as it will never come. The staff were the best thing about this experience. They 'jazzed' up the continental breakfast, they kept the place immaculate and were always willing to help. Be sure to ask for the roof terrace, if it wasn't for the guest photos we would never have known that it was there (another George forgot to mention ). Enjoy the Souks and NEVER listen to people willing to help you. They will send you to there shop telling you 'its this way to the big square ) we found that you used the map and the compass on the iPhone we could head in a rough direction until we found a landmark

Concerned about the Riads location before we arrived, imagining a warren of narrow, unlit streets & being difficult to find. Not so! Simple as anything, believe me, using the map of Marrakech which Mourad kindly supplies. He even writes directions to & from the Riad on it. Located in the most amazing working area of Marrakech. The tiny 3m x 3m "shop units" had everything going on in them... hairdressers, motorcycle repairs, woodworking, a mechanical rabbit skinner (or chicken plucker - I didn't get too close a look!), 2nd hand tap seller, patisserie, fresh eggs - from chickens at the rear! A real treasure trove if you want to see the true Marrakech. Oh! Brochette stalls aplenty too! Try them, we did they were lovely... The people in the streets around the Riad were as friendly as can be. As they were in the whole of the Medina. Breakfast, ok it's not a full English, get over it! It is lovely though (in our opinion), yoghurt, fruit, marmalade, sweet cake, small toasts, pancakes or filo pastry with jam and gorgeous mint tea (to die for!). The Riad is beautifully kept and decorated and truly welcoming. I really can not praise the staff enough. Elodie manages it along with Mourad superbly catering for your every need. We came home to a blazing log fire each night (February). Staff are discreet but attentive, and so welcoming, we didn't eat there but everyone said the food was unbelievable. Oh there's a lovely roof terrace & 'small' pool too! A truly fantastic experience!

This Riad is very nice and comfortable. When you enter there are a few common areas with seating that you can hang out in. There is a very small dipping pool outside in a private terrace-we didn't go in it as it was winter time and we didn't know there was a dipping pool. We were given a room with our own small terrace. The room was comfortable with a double bed that was 2 singles pushed together but you didn't feel the gap between the beds. The bathroom was roomy and the water from the shower had a good pressure. The drain was a little slow to drain but it never over flowed from the shower. There was no door to the shower so the floor could get a bit wet. There was a window to the bathroom so you could let the steam out. The aircon acted as a heater (which we needed as January isn't that warm during the night). I would highly suggest organizing a taxi to collect you from the airport and bring you to the Riad (you can do this through the hotel via email) as you will probably never find the Riad amongst the winding streets of Marrakech. Getting to the Riad at night can be a little spooky since the alleys are dimly lit and very empty. We had brought a flash light and always went out together so neither one of us felt unsafe. The locals are all very friendly but I think if I was alone I would be a little spooked going down the alley by myself. Overall the hotel was very nice and I would recommend it to my friends.

Really made our stay in Marrakech a great one. Definitely recommend.

Very modern riad which is tucked in the maze of streets that is the Kasbah. Initial thoughts was that we would never find our way around and the amount of people and traffic about was very daunting. Don't worry about this as everyone we came across was very pleasant and helpful and eventually you do get used to were everything is. The riad supplied us with a map and a card which was invaluable especially when we had to be guided back by a 13 year old lad on a bike!! There is an open top bus which goes around the main visitors site so this is a good way of getting your bearings.

At the south end of the Kasbah, Riad Alma is a little further from the centre of Marrakesh than many other Riads, but we enjoyed the bustle and friendliness of Rue de la Kasbah when we went in to, and came back out of town; it made us feel a little more immersed in this wonderful, exotic location. The Riad itself was a clean, friendly place of calm after the madness of the souks and Djeema el Fna. It has a great staff and a lovely feel to it, a little like being in a Graham Greene novel almost. Thoroughly recommend it. The only thing that might catch you out is the walk from the Rue de la K to the Riad itself, we arrived by taxi quite late and felt a little uncomfortable wnadering through the dimly lit back streets for a couple of hundred metres to find the Riad. Once we'd been there a day or two we realised how friendly the locals are, and didn't feel vulnerable after that; but on the first night when it was all a bit strange and new, it was a little unsettling.

Very nice and cozy riad in downtown Medina. My room was simple but beautifully decorated, super clean and very spacious. I was also welcomed to make use of other spaces of the hotel such as common TV room, living room, and sofa space beside a swimming pool, etc. And they served mint tea which tasted great from time to time. Basically they made me feel at home, and staff were very polite and helpful even though some of them did not speak English at all (Never mind because the first foreign language in Morocco is French, anyway). Location-wise it's great if you want to discover Marrakech downtown as most of the major historic landmarks are in proximity and you can also see real life of local people, which is quite unlikely to happen if you stick to New Town Gueliz. Having said that, though, it would be better note that the streets around this riad are so narrow that taxi cannot drop you in front of the door of the hotel, and it's not a short walk in the dark from where you get off your taxi to the riad, if you take a taxi after visiting Marrakech's famous night market.

Nice little Riad in the corner of the Medina, not too far away from the Souks and other touristy attractions; in amongst the with the 'locals' and how they live; if this is not your thing then stay away and stay at the 5* hotels they do have around, which are very nice but lacking in a bit of soul. The Riad itself is very nicely presented, the owner had decorated it sympathetically and pleasant on the eye...with bags of character. Clean and quiet once inside and lovely hideaway from the hub-bub and noise outside. Service is excellent...there was never a 'no'; always 'yes!' and 'of course' at every request (reasonable request). I cannot fault the staff on their level of service with a smile; making our stay all that more pleasurable. The dinner cooked at the Riad are homely and delicious, wished we had stayed in more for dinner...it would have saved us some money too. Highly recommend Riad Alma, based on our stay.

Ok, Riad Alma is not easy to find and the surrounding neighborhood is not the best, but when the door to Riad Alma is opened you are greeted warmly by Martine & Pierre and your difficulty in finding the Riad is forgotten. We spent 4 nights there and enjoyed every minute. Breakfasts were amazing and we ate dinner in on our return from camel trekking (really dromedary) which was very enjoyable. Transport around Marakesh can be organised by Martine which helps to orientate yourself in and out of the Riad. Ville nouvelle is only about 4 kilometers away and is easily walked. Petite taxi to the train/ bus station should be about 20 dirhams.

You must eat in the Riad, their Chicken & Lemon Tagine was exquisite! Clean, comfortable & beautifully decorated. A home from home.

The exterior of this hotel gave me flashbacks to my tour in Afghanistan. To get there, you must travel through the winding streets of a crowded neighborhood and then navigate some really sketchy back alleys. I'm talking trash all over the place, piles of rubble, feral animals roaming the ruins, the smell of raw sewage wafting through the air, the whole nine yards. Although, to be fair, those features seem to apply to pretty much seemed the entire inner city. If you can't handle it I suggest visiting somewhere else. While the outside may be intimidating, the interior is very well kept and beautiful. The staff are very friendly, most speak English except for the maids, and they will hook you up with a great tour guide and trans to and from the airport for a very reasonable rate. As a bonus, after a day or so you start to relax a little bit walking the streets. Breakfast is amazing, fresh squeezed OJ and outstanding crepes.

Our superior room was spacious and sweetly decorated, and the entire riad is well taken care of. The owners clearly take pride in their hotel. Please note that this riad isn't in what locals would refer to as the medina - it's in the Kasbah area. If you're okay to walk a few blocks, then don't let this deter you. If you are up for a longer walk, you can even do what my partner and I did and walk all the way to Jardin Majorelle via Nouveau Ville. It's quite the walk, but the location of this riad makes it a bit easier than it could be as it's close to a door in the wall which you can use to exit the old town and into the new town (not all that much to see there though other than the Jardin Majorelle). Please note that like all riads, this experience is more of a bed-and-breakfast type as opposed to a hotel - some of the amenities you may be used to if you travel a lot must be arranged in advance. This isn't a negative - just something to keep in mind. The WiFi worked well enough although didn't work so well in our room - we had to sit in one of the shared areas for the best connection. All the same, we were happy we had that available as we're both entrepreneurs and have to keep up with business back at home. All in all, I would absolutely recommend Riad Alma to couples and to friends who are visiting Marrakech. It's a charming little oasis, and we really enjoyed our stay.

Riad Alma is a lovely home into which we were welcomed by owner Pierre. The Riad itself is beautiful, with a quiet roof terrace, and several courtyards for relaxing in the sun / shade, and lots of indoor lounge areas for chilling out in the evening with a glass of wine in the company of the other guests. Our room was small, but clean and functional, and decorated in a Moroccan style. The only negative was the location - a good 25 minute walk through dusty streets dodging cars and motorbikes to Jemaa el Fna (the main square). We were really pleased that we visited while Pierre was in town (he splits his time between Marrakech and France) as he was very friendly, ensured we had everything that we needed, and generally made us feel like old friends.

The staff were all very helpful especially Michelin who was running the Riad she was always on hand to give us advice on the best places to go, she organised drivers booked restaurants and went out of her way to make our stay very enjoyable. We ate an evening meal in the Riad twice whilst we were there and both times the food was excellent, breakfast was served at a time to suit us and was always good. Hot afternoons were spent lazing around the plunge pool or on the terrace, there was always someone to bring us drinks and make sure there was a sun lounger. The rooms were very comfortable with air conditioning and we all enjoyed peaceful sleeps. We all had a wonderful stay and Michelin made it go so smoothly.
