Location.

Cons: We booked a beautiful room via booking.com, but when we arrived we were shown to a very dirty room, split over two floor; there was a very tight spiral staircase that led down to a dark, poorly ventilated and therefore extremely damp room that has a strong smell of urine. The bed was jammed right next to the openable window, which we had to ask hotel staff to pull away since there was no air whatsoever. The room was advertised as air conditioned, but it was only in the upstairs mezzanine level and didn’t reach downstairs. The bathroom had an openable and thin door to the corridor outside, so lots of foot traffic whilst on the loo. On top of that, the whole room was filthy with stains across the floor, dust literally everywhere and dirt and grime in the corners. There were also bugs all around the room and bathroom. Not clean at all. It was disgusting and we barely slept. I have asthma and suffered a great deal from the conditions of the room. We spoke to staff both upon arrival and the next morning. Both times they said nothing could be done and it that it was an issue with booking.com and that they have had it several times.(ie, they are totally aware of the problem and are still advertising the room at full market price despite several complaints). Even if that is the case, the room was not in a good state to market at any price

C’est un très bel établissement idéalement situé à la limite de la médina. Ce riad est très joliment décoré et parfaitement entretenue. Des chambres confortables. Une parenthèse enchantée.

The style was nice and traditional, it has a good rooftop pool. The staff were very nice and spoke good English helping us get late night 9pm food.

Cons: The air conditioner outlet was next to the bed and couldn’t turn off at night - dry nose and eyes. The shower only had hand held shower- if I known would have been a deal breaker. The breakfast was good but the usual Moroccan nothing special. The pool had bird poop around the edges and nothing to use to clean off. Quite hidden from the road and definitely no parking - I wouldn’t recommend arriving at night by road.

The moment I arrived I was greeted with impeccable hospitality and my every need was taken care of, including tips of nearby restaurants and places to visit. I literally didnt want to leave, honestly gorgeous accomodation. I will be back to this beautiful Riaad for sure, literally felt like a fairytale.

Cons: I wasnt comfortable with the shutters to my bedroom not closing at night with the fact anyone could access that terrace. The sfaff resolved it for me, but consider locking access to that space at night, especially for solo female travellers.

The very first impression, as that big blue door opens and you are greeted, is one of welcome, friendliness, and peacefulness. You may meet either George or Oumaima - both are very professional, kind, joyful, thoughtful and completely knowledgeable about the area. They made us feel so welcome and answered all of our questions. Riad l'Alcazar is lovely and George and Oumaima are superb hosts and they made all the difference to our trip to Rabat. Mustafa is also a very kind and thoughtful gentleman who was always willing to help and the woman who cleans the Riad does excellent work and always has a smile.

Cons: I liked everything about the Riad and have no complaints whatsoever. In fact, I have already booked another visit to L'Alcazar because we loved it there so much!

The services are world-class excellent, and staffs are patient, polite, and mindful. I really like the breakfast they provided. The rooftop is also beautifully decorated, and the yard is as beautiful as it looks in the photos, and the location is perfect: right at the entrance to the Medina, close to the castle and the sea, which is super convenient for a walking tour! Also it is very convenient to call a taxi from the hotel.

Cons: -Wifi and signal are not stable in my room considering the price. I visited Rabat for a conference and it was frustrating to lose the Wi-Fi connection every few minutes the night before the conference. -The layout of my room is a bit strange: the window is too high to reach and, as the staff were very friendly, I didn't want to bother them too frequently, so I just left the curtains closed for the whole stay. -There is a loud sound (I guess it's from a mosque?) from somewhere close to the hotel at around 4 am and 10 pm every day. This is not the hotel's problem and I guess this sound affects all residences around the medina. It's not very important if you sleep well.

The location is perfect. Five minutes walk from Kasbah des Oudayas, the beach, the river, Rabat Lighthouse and right in the Medina. But not too far into the Medina so you don’t get lost before you find your bearings and a taxi can stop right outside to bring you to the airport. The Riad is beautifully converted to comfortable rooms and suites without damaging the beautifully carved giant doors, arches, windows and tiles. My room had excellent air conditioning, a lovely bathroom, a cosy sitting room with minibar and a comfy bed on a mezzanine floor with tv. They have respected the history of the building and it is such a serene oasis despite being in the middle of the bustling Medina. The carved stone, the beautiful tiling, the green and pink embroidered curtains and a great view of Rabat from the roof with a pool. Excellent service and management from kind, caring, and very professional staff. I was welcomed with the most gorgeous mint tea and cake, and they served a delicious breakfast of eggs, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, cheese, fresh juice and bread every morning.

Cons: There were two canaries in a tiny cage downstairs and I would have loved them to have a bigger enclosure where they could stretch their wings.

Lovely building. Our morning host George was excellent. Location was good, although it was difficult for our taxi driver to find. Very comfortable bed with nice linens. Nice hot shower with great water pressure. Loved the super-sized towels. Was nice to sit by wood fire in evening. The proprietor Rashid was very gracious and served us excellent mint tea twice. The housekeeper did a great job keeping our room tidy. Wonderful breakfast…especially loved the fruit salad, orange juice, and fried egg. The AC worked well.

Cons: Our standard room was very tiny and had no windows. I would have expected something nicer for the money we paid. If you stay here (and you should), spring for an upgraded room. The lock on our door was not working, so we had to leave it unlocked whenever we went out (we could lock it from the inside when we were in the room). The outside door was kept locked all the time, which in this case was a good thing, but I personally prefer the freedom to let myself in and out of a property.

L'Alcazar was opulent with Moroccan decor. The Moroccan staff was kind and professional. Kindness was top priority. The rooms are large. There is an amazing roof top terrace with a pool. You can walk out the front door into the Medina for shopping and traditional food. I highly recommend hiring a Rickshaw to tour Rabat's King's Palace and Chellah. Be sure to enjoy the mint tea. arrival very nice, tea was served, then we got an upgrade .... which was surprising .....

Cons: We got an unexpected upgrade around 10 pm when we arrived followed by knocking on my door at 10 pm when I was asleep to tell me that the breakfast was not included in the price - I was pretty sure it had been included - a high price per person for breakfast, I had hoped to be able to have breakfast on the terrace the next morning.. we had to sit inside .... a bit disappointing.....my assistant was also woken up the next morning to tell him that we had to pay extra for the breakfast. Clearer communication when we checked would have helped a lot.

I very much enjoyed my stay. The location was perfect and allowed me to walk to all of the various locations on my itinerary. They were nice enough to give me an upgraded room on a higher floor. It allowed me easy access to rooftop patio area. The room was furnished with a bathtub. However, my only issue with my stay was that the stopper in the tub did not work and I could not fill the tub. Location in Rabat was good and was where we wanted to be.

Cons: This is an overvalued property. I think we paid around $135 for a very small room. I would say it has a $95 value. There is about 8 inches between the end of the bed and the wall. There is really no pleasing view from the outside terrace and no chair to sit on if you decided to be outside. The sofa or chair or whatever it was in the room to sit on was bizarre and uncomfortable. The room was close and damp. There was an odor. It simply was not worth $135. There was no dedicated parking place and though a spot was made available when the pleasant manager moved his car, it cost 30 dirhams. The breakfast was adequate.

Great location in the old city Architecture of old buildings is cultural

Cons: Difficult to find this place Manager Mohammed is dishonest and only wants money Rooms smelled like dog/cat urine including the grey carpet and bedroom Room is right next to the elevator on 2nd floor so you will hear everything Rooms do not match the description Manager will not let you change dates, do not book with them at all or use booking.com, both did not help the situation at all. Overpriced for no reason at 150.00 USD per night, nothing provided at all but breakfast and light toiletries. You can book the Mariott close by for 200.00 USD night as a full service Western hotel brand with much better service, flexible stay and honest staff NO AC in the hot summer Rooms are haunted Room did not have refrigerator which was stated in original booking Google reviews are fake, dont accept them at face value.

What a memorable stay thanks to the dedicated and kind staff. I loved the 8-course breakfasts in a charming quiet area. the rooftop has a pool and is a great oasis on top of all the other shorter buildings. although there are many other hotels to choose from, I’ll be staying at this same place when I come back to Morocco!

The location near the old city is great. Taxi had difficulty finding the location but it's just past the old city gate to the East of the Casbah. The breakfast was very tasty and well served, in the inner court that is really well restored. The rooms are interesting with a bed after a staircase in some of the rooms. They organised a good taxi for 03:30 to go to the airport - and coffee was ready!

The staff here were so friendly! Our suite was spacious and had a terrace attached which was nice, because I am pretty sure the rooms on the lower levels didn't have any external windows (which I think is normal for a Riad). Our room was clean and the breakfast was great.

Cons: This place has so much potential, but when we stayed it felt like it was still in development/construction mode. The room was nice but felt empty, could easily be fixed by adding some traditional rugs, pieces of art, and mirrors to the walls. There was nowhere in the bathroom to hang towels, no shelf in the shower, the door to the bathroom had spaces in it so you can hear everything that is happening in there, there are no electric outlets in the bathroom, and no hairdryer was provided. If they set up a mirror/vanity in the main area near a plug, and provided a hairdryer it would make it much easier for female guests. Getting better wifi would also increase the value of this place, in this day and age you need good wifi for your guests, even on the ground floor it wasn't good. The patio had no seating, and the terrace on the roof which had the pool is still under construction. It felt like we were paying the price it should have been when all of those amenities were complete, without the benefit of getting those amenities. Once all of the construction/upgrades are complete, I think this will be a great place to stay, for now it just felt like we weren't getting the full experience.

location is excellent, on top of the Medina, very quiet night/ day. staff is truly dedicated to make your stay as good as it may by providing you a personalized service : they will park your car, make any arrangements you may required etc… breakfirst is very good, and affluent : omelette , rug aux plats etc and will bring you the best «  crepes » u like such as les «  mill trous »! roof top terrace has a gorgeous view on Rabat, nice place for Apero Time😉 Room are large , mattress is very good and cleaning every day is perfect.

Cons: we were there in March 2023 for 4 nights, property was not @ its best as some refurbishment / improvements were still under way, if those would have takenplace I would give an excellent rating to Alcazar ( spa was not operational, some facilities were not working etc…). in order to compensate , management upgrade our room to a nice roof top suite 😉

We loved everything about this recently renovated Riad, especially the staff. They were so kind to us, during a period of food poisoning which we had picked up the day before in Casablanca. They went the extra mile, especially Rashid, Muhammad and George, shopping for us and cooking for us to help us get better. We very much appreciate their kindness and compassion. Thank you!

A truly marvelous, recently renovated place combining traditional Moroccan decor with subtle minimalism. The staff were great and welcoming (special mention goes to Rashid). The room was a true gem - spacious, stylish and super comfortable. The bathroom was clean, modern and as big as the room itself. The breakfast was a treat. The riad is located right on the edge of the medina, a short walk from the Kasbah des Oudayas, the lighthouse and within a walking distance from Tour Hassan and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Easily accessible by car and parking space on the street nearby was easy enough to find. An absolutely magical place.

The good— great location on edge of Medina, easy walk to Kasba, Medina and tourist shopping. Very nice rooftop deck with 360 views of Medina and even ocean. Lovely central patio where breakfast is served. Nice elevator. Nice 2; hour staff who speak fair English. Negative—next to a mosque so you’ll get loud 5:30 wake ups. Breakfast is same every day. Better like honeyed pancakes and scrambled eggs. There are only 8 rooms. We paid for midrange. The room was across three levels. Lots of stairs and no handrails to lowest bathroom level. No night light either. Scary! Be careful of echorbitant extra cost to have ‘free cancellation ‘. Highest fee I’ve seen. Not worth it. Finally make sure you take a card from hotel and map. It’s so small taxis can’t find it. I got dumped by a taxi miles from the hotel and had to walk. Perfectly safe but I needed the map and card to find my way.

This was advertised on Expedia as a hotel but is actually a Riad. Although the staff is very pleasant, the facility is most definitely short staffed and the one poor employee was the doorman, reception and server. The facility is a bit run down and not very clean. We had black mold on the shower ceiling. Although not the worst place I’ve stayed, it is far too overpriced for what you get. Definitely not the luxury, highly rated accommodations I was expecting. More like a 3 star Riad which should cost half of what it does.

L'Alcazar is a small riad-type hotel just a block inside the Rabat medina. The hotel interior is physically beautiful and well-kept but the hotel itself is very difficult to find, even for an experienced Rabat cab driver. There appears to be only one full time staff person who handles everything (concierge, checkin, even cooking) but whose lack of English resulted in a very difficult and unhelpful stay (for an English speaking solo traveler such.as myself). The staff person was unable to connect me to cabs, tours or English speaking resources, and some basics (such as batteries for a working alarm clock in the room) were misunderstood or left undone. Other oddities (such as loud playing of American Motown soul music during a mediocre dinner) can speak for themselves. I cannot recommend the hotel for any solo travelers reliant on English or access to local resources. For folks in a tour group with a fixed itinerary and guides, the hotel is probably fine. The website for the hotel bespeaks a level of comfort and convenience which, alas, is inconsistent with reality.

L’Alcazar is an excellent riad located just a short walk from the Medina and the Kasbah. The decor in both the common areas and the rooms is exquisite, as is the rooftop patio with a view of the city. L’Alcazar is situated on an easy access street; we had no difficulty getting taxis when we wanted to explore the more modern parts of the city, yet inside the riad it is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is included with the room; it was delicious. L’Alcazar also serves other meals on request. Our stays at L’Alcazar at the beginning and end of our trip to Morocco were totally delightful. We would absolutely stay there again!

Best thing about Alcazar is the location. It is located next to the main Medina street, has parking spaces nearby, 5-10 minutes walking distance to the cliffs overlooking the ocean waves, beach side strroll, the kasbah, etc. The downside was being next door to a religious school which will have a calls to prayer every morning at sunrise. The challenge was on our 2nd night that they had chanting going on from the evening until 5 am the next morning ( apparently this is a once a month event). The Riad itself has had better days, it does not look fresh, the carpet had many stains as did most of the furniture in our room. Our bed was upstairs with a not so easy staircase to climb up and down, bathroom is functional and clean but no shower ( just a tub ). The staff service and quality was quite good; they were friendly, attentive, with maid service two times a day which was different than other Riads we stayed at , we appreciated this.

Very nice Ryad close to the Médina and Kasbah, excremental staff ( Mohammed ) who went above and beyond in making our stay pleasant and the Hotel manager was very nice as well. Our room though was a bit awkward to navigate because of the winding stair and there’s a gap in the bannisters that make it a bit of a hazard, carpet had stains as well but the terraza and the courtyard was very beautiful and clean.

We were expecting L'Alcazar to be a hotel. It was a very difficult to find riad. We were shown to our room to find it like a dungeon. Three meters wide, six long and four high, the two small windows were three meters up the wall. I expressed my dismay and was told, "This is your room." At midnight the door was opened and a man looked in, we heard later it was the security man, thinking the room was empty and a light left on. The next day we were transferred to a better room, but this room looked tired and grubby. There was only one TV channel in English, Chinese World News.. The price of beer was twice as much as at two previous riads. It was a very disappointing experience.

The hotel was hard to find then the entrance hall was very badly signposted. The hotel was pitiful and looked cozy but the bad thing was the common noise outside, partly from a lot of traffic but also from a party held outside from 6 in the evening to 6 in the morning. The most annoying sound came from the prayer pops that were so close to the hotel that it woke one for a long time. The breakfast was no elevation but in general an ok hotel if you want such a middle of the old town.

We got to the hotel just before midnight and as we had been told, warmly greeted except that there was no room. It seemed anticipating we would never get they they had sold our room away. They put us in a Riad about 10 minute walk away. They graciously offered us a free dinner. Yes, a free dinner after midnight. We were only looking for a good night's sleep. I loved my stay here and plan to return with my children and mother! The staff were extremely helpful in directing me how to get around Rabat. The breakfast was filling and very nice. I loved that the location was right next to the shopping area and that it was easy to get taxis. The interior of the riad is stunning- I felt like I was on a movie set. I felt safe and relaxed and comfortable. I had read that hotel could be difficult to find as not well known by taxi drivers so I was prepared for this; however if you let the staff know approximately what time you will arrive, they do look out for you. One night I told the reception I would be returning from a conference dinner at 11pm and they were standing outside so it made it easier to find! They were very receptive.

Disappointing - room was small, and not furnished in keeping with what one would expect from a Riad in the Medina. An inferior room to the one booked was provided, with two single beds instead of a single king size bed. Breakfast and service were ok. There are better, more traditionally decorated Riad's in the Medina for the same money.

This brand new Ryad located in the middle of the Rabat Medina was a bit hard to find and didn't seem much, from de outside. But once in, the impeccable service of Mohammed and his staff made us feel like we were the only guests in the building. Even if we arrived late, they reopened their kitchen, served us a delicious dinner and then provided us a great tea presentation on their rooftop balcony. Even when I mentioned that we ran out of toothpaste, the manager personally went out of his way and went to purchase some for us (at no charge to us). Next morning he had a driver pick us up at 5;30 am to drive us to the airport. It's hard to find people this caring these days. Kudos to you Mohammed and team. You are our next home in Rabat!

This is a wonderful hotel with great attention to detail. It is beautifully renovated and extremely comfortable. The hotel feels very small and intimate, definitely a boutique hotel experience. The decor is charming but feels more Parisian chic than traditional Moroccan (which is great, depending on what you are looking for). The staff was very kind. The breakfast was very good with a choice of eggs along with traditional Moroccan pancakes and also fruit and yogurt. The bed was very comfortable, however we stayed in a suite with stairs up to a lofted bed and the stairs are extremely steep. It is not easy to go down them because there is only a railing on one side. That being said, it did not take away from our lovely stay at this hotel. We wished there were chairs or furniture on the rooftop because there are great views of Rabat but nowhere to sit. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel, it felt safe and well cared for and was in a great location right on the edge of the Medina.

We stayed at quite a few different riads during our travels in Morocco, while this did not feel the most authentic, it was beautifully renovated and one of the most comfortable that we stayed at. The hotel feels very small and intimate, definitely a boutique hotel experience. The decor was charming but felt more Parisian chic than traditional Moroccan (which is great, depending on what you are looking for). The staff was very kind. The breakfast was one of the best we had with a choice of eggs along with the traditional Moroccan pancakes and also fruit and yogurt. The bed was very comfortable, however we stayed in a suite with stairs up to a lofted bed and we are active people but the stairs were extremely steep for us.

We stayed in the Grand Premium Terrace Suite (only Lui) and loved it. It had a lot of character and was our first experience with a Riad. Corrine was awesome as was all the staff. Very interesting to talk to and they offered lots of valuable tips. We ate supper at the riad and the food was very traditional Moroccan and it was so delicious! The views from the terraces were beautiful especially at sunset and sunrise. The only thing negative is that the water got very cold in the middle of my shower at night. It was fine in the morning. This is the only reason we didn't give it all 5 ratings.

The hotel rooms are absolutely gorgeous. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat. I have travel and stayed in many hotels in Morocco from 4 - 5 stars. This hotel by far surpasses them all in sheer aesthetic and friendliness.

Stayed at L'Alcazar for 4 nights for business reasons. The hotel is tucked away in typical Ryad-Style, but nicely renovated, very quiet and benefits from a lovely service personnel (very forthcoming to any requirements like organising taxis, getting a bit of home-made food etc...). The location is also great as you are in the old part of town with a myriad of street shops and tiny streets to get lost in.

The riad is beautiful and very safe. The staff is nice, helpful, and always available. Also, what sets it apart from other riads in the medina is that it has direct access to the main street -- handy if you are there on business or if you need easy access to car/taxis for any reasons. However, the room we were in was quite damp --smelt like it and had infiltrations. Also, the food is not bad, but I would not recommend eating there: there are better traditional restaurants in the medina, which are not as expensive.

Second stay at this magical place! A wonderful alternative to a big western style hotel. ABSOULTELY BEAUTIFUL place! Every detail was taken care of...trust me...if you're staying in Rabat...this is the place to stay! Great staff, great location, great food, fastest wireless internet in Morocco! I would give 6 stars if I could!
