The location and cleanliness were good. When I asked for some kitchen support to prepare my baby’s soup, they kindly let me into the kitchen and helped me get what I needed. I’m truly grateful for that.
Cons: They did not help us carry our suitcases or the stroller upstairs. It was clear that the hotel was understaffed. Our room was very cold, and they gave us a tiny heater to warm up a suite-sized room, which of course was not sufficient. The area reserved for breakfast is on the terrace, and if you’re traveling with a baby or small children like us, the strong wind and cooler weather make it quite challenging. The lack of an elevator was also a major downside

Fantastiskt rum, rymligt, välutrustat med direkt tillgång till den fantastiska takterrassen, där det också serverades underbar frukost. Visserligen tre trappor upp, men det var det värt. Läget inne i Medinan är perfekt och Essaouira är en underbar stad med fantastiska soluppgångar och solnedgångar. Fiskehamnen och Medinan är fylld av liv och rörelse med möjlighet till många goda matupplevelser. Stranden är milsvid och tempot är behagligt.

Loved the convenient location. The Riad itself had a bohemian vibe with a great selection of art and artifacts, beautifully put together by our lovely host, Pierre and hostess, Marie! They and the entire staff were wonderful! Enjoyed the rooftop deck for a delicious breakfast. Just pleasant to sit up there in the afternoon, so restful. Highly recommend the experience of staying in this beautiful Riad.

Cons: Noisy- as our room was on a lane, albeit a side lane, there was alot of noise late evening and in morning, plus with the need for guests to rap on the door to be let it, guests coming back late could wake others up ! Avoid room on that side of Riad. Breakfast was nice to have on roof but was quite repetative and set format.

Superbe établissement, la maison a beaucoup de charme. L’emplacement est juste parfait, tout est à proximité. Pierre est plein de bons conseils. C’est vraiment un plaisir d’y séjourner ! La terrasse sur le toit est superbe, il y a une très belle vu. Point en plus pour la salle de bain qui est vraiment belle. Je recommande fortement.

The rooms were beautiful, tall ceilings and lots of natural light and they had a huge bed that was super comfy! The temperature when we visited in September was perfect so we were able to leave the windows open all day, the only downside is you can hear everything from the street. They have a beautiful rooftop where you can have breakfast or lounge during the day, and you can hear the waves from the ocean in the distance. We were in a great spot of exploring the Medina area and spent our days walking around and could easily make it back to the hotel whenever we got tired.
Cons: You do have to walk quite far from the nearest road where you can get dropped off, we had to walk about 10-15 minutes through the market to reach the property.

Abbiamo chiesto di anticipare il check in; richiesta accolta senza alcun genere di patema. Camera spaziosa e pulita, letto estremamente confortevole. Nota di merito per lo shampoo e il bagnoschiuma, provenienti direttamente da profumi di Marrakech. Colazione in terrazza abbondante. A differenza di altri Riad, ti chiedono cosa gradisci e te lo preparano al momento. Noi abbiamo gustato una generosa omelette. Bella anche la compagnia dei cinguettanti gabbiani, che rendono l'ambiente marittimo e, al contempo, un po' pittoresco. Consigliatissimo

Absolute gem. Everything about this place is fantastic. Staff is super helpful and friendly, rooms are well equipped and comfortable, breakfast was great, even for vegetarians. The location is of this riad made exploring around the city so easy. They offer cooking classes (among other activities) and it was the best time. We were taken around the medinas where we shopped for ingredients, then taken back to cook. It was a great way to explore the city and learn more about the culture. Everything was so wonderful here.

Cons: Très bruyant le soir et la nuit que ce soit par les résidents qui se croient seuls au monde et la ruelle qui malgré l'étroitesse est très bruyante. Le peu de place entre le lit et l'accès à la la salle d'eau.

Sehr schönes, liebevoll eingerichtetes Riad in perfekter Lage, um die Stadt zu erkunden. Alles was wir sehen wollten war in ca. 5-15 fußläufig zu erreichen. Sehr üppiges und leckeres Frühstück mit selbstgekochter Marmelade auf der Terrasse über den Dächern Essaouiras. Sehr netter Personal, das uns sogar den bei der Abreise im Zimmer vergessenen Personalausweis hinterhergebracht hat. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall gerne wieder.

Cons: De badkamer was klein, rechtstreeks verbonden aan de slaapkamer en de vochtigheid kon hierdoor niet echt weg. De man dat we het vaakst zagen deed zijn best maar kon moeilijk Frans/Engels waardoor de communicatie wat moeilijker verliep, google translate hielp ook niet.

Cons: La discussion animé de certains touristes ne se rendant pas compte qu un riad reste une maison d'hôtes où d autres dorment. Heureusement que le personnel est reactif. Les marches d escaliers, pas toutes de la même hauteur. Ça surprend. Un peu rude lorsqu il faut monter ou descendre 3 étages. C est le charme d un Riad mais il faut le savoir quand même. Sinon c était une belle expérience.

Riyad de charme qui porte bien son nom :) et qui présente un cachet authentique ou tout est bien agencé. Harmonieux calme reposant et très bien entretenu. Un vrai lieu de villégiature ou l'on se sent comme chez soi. Même si la rue perpendiculaire à une artère principale de la Médina "souk" la villa Garance n'en demeure pas moins très tranquille. La villa Garence ou l'enchantement baigne tous vos sens. Un bien-être exaltant avec l'accompagnement des sourires du personnel qui et toujours présent au quotidien et bienveillant à votre égard. Merci à vous toutes et tous pour cet agréable séjour. Vos petits gâteaux maison du petit-déjeuner me manque déjà. A notre prochaine venue à Essaouira, sans équivoques nous rechoisirons ce bel établissement qu'est la Villa Garance,

Esperienza certamente positiva! La camera luminosa e arredata molto bene, in uno stile che abbiamo molto apprezzato. La colazione in terrazza davvero piacevole anche se non ricchissima. Si potrebbe aggiungere qualcosa di salato. Da migliorare: la scale per arrivare al secondo piano e poi alla terrazza sono veramente ripide: non mi sorprederei se qualcuno inciampasse, a maggior ragione con l valigie. Consiglierei quindi un restyling delle scale mentre tutti il resto del Riad è PERFETTO!

Un séjour parfait dans un riad magnifique, idéalement situé pour partir à la découverte de la ville. Le petit-déjeuner, copieux et savoureux, est servi sur une terrasse agréable. Le personnel est d’une grande gentillesse, toujours souriant, attentionné et disponible. La literie est très confortable et la propreté irréprochable. Nous avons également eu le plaisir de déguster un délicieux couscous le premier soir, et de participer à des cours de pâtisseries marocaines, de pain et de crêpes — une expérience authentique et enrichissante. En cherchant notre logement, nous avions hésité à réserver une chambre sur la mer ou une chambre dans la médina. Sans hésitation, il nous semble bien plus préférable de séjourner dans la médina. La villa Garance est idéalement située et vous permet une expérience immersive. Personnel au top. Dej sur terrasse extra. Nous avons poursuivi vers Marrakech et nous regrettons déjà cet endroit. N’hésitez pas.

Außergewöhnliches Riad direkt in der Altstadt, Gepflegtes Zimmer mit privatem Loungebereich im Atrium, sehr bequem und sauber. Die Dachterasse, auf der das Frühstück serviert wird ist toll und gemütlich, auch der in Essaouria extreme Wind ist hier kein Problem. Katzen waren ein kleiner Bonus. Waren zwei Nächte hier und haben uns super wohl gefühlt!

L’endroit, au milieu de la médina, était vraiment calme et très bien, la literie très confortable avec sa piètre et ses oreillers en micro-fibres et non en mousse, pour une fois. Gerenoveerd oud gebouw dat hierdoor gered is. Nogal ruime kamer met zijgang waardoor we 1 buitenvenster hadden. Daar stonden nog 2 bedden, niet opgemaakt, alleen om op te zitten. Badkamer antieke Marokkaanse stijl met moderne kranen en douche en WC waardoor toch comfortabel.
Cons: Gelegen in een enge straat rechtover een school waardoor veel lawaai op enkele tijdstippen en afval achtergelaten na schooltijd. Het rook er ook niet fris. Ver te voet vanaf de zeldzame P plaatsen voor de poort in de omwalling Je moet kloppen om binnen te komen en de sleutel telkens afhalen. Er is geen lift, de kamerdeur geeft tocht. De kamer krijgt geen zonlicht, s morgens kunnen de ramen bedampt zijn aan de binnenkant. Er is alleen ontbijt op het dak, waar er koude wind is en waar een koppel bedient, de tafelbladen zijn in glas maar niet proper, als je vraagt naar poetsen met detergent gebeurt dit niet, ook al lag er eerst vogelpoep. Ontbijt is eieren, brood, confituur, honing, cake, yoghurt en witte geitenkaas, de 2e dag moesten we dit extra vragen. Veel te duur voor constant gebrek aan luxe. Overal tapijten op de verdiepingen en geweven zittingen op de stoelen, wel mooi uitzicht maar onmogelijk te onderhouden.

We loved our stay at Villa Garance. It was in a great location, quiet but central. Breakfast, which was enormous and delicious, was included and the staff were amazing. Our room was beautiful with traditional fittings and an enormous bed.. the ensuite had lovely argan oil products which were a real treat. We would definitely go back.

The Riad was located in a quiet side street but in the center of the old town, a great location. It was beautifully decorated and furnished and our host was very knowledgable and helpful, he made some excellent restaurant recommendations and booked our taxi and porter, which was helpful. Our bed was super comfy and the room quiet . The breakfast was served on a wonderful sunny terrace, beautifully furnished with low balcony walls to protect you from the wind. It was overlooking the old town and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with the chef cooking from fresh in the terrace kitchen. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend this Riad. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Very friendly welcome. Always felt safe. Wonderful breakfast, the fresh orange juice was delicious. My only reason for a slightly lower score was the accessibility in our room. It was a stunning room but the tiled stairs coming out of the bathroom were a big hazard. My husband (fit, active 30 year old) slipped and has fractured his elbow. Might be worth more than one bath mat being provided in this room to avoid this happening to anyone else.

One night a loud cat fight, another night by a loud human fight - as mentioned, I'm sure it was just unlucky that two very loud very angry men were fighting at 3am outside downstairs below our room.

Location is great in the medina I travel alone and it was my birthday which I did email before telling them. I asked to have a massage something special but in the end I went else where as didn’t feel like they made any effort. The mattress and pillows were amazing so I slept very well. It was very clean and tidy. The roof terrace looked lovely but couldn’t eat breakfast there due to weather which was a real shame.
Cons: Communication wasn’t great leading up to my stay. No window in my room. Other guests could sit in a seating area right outside my room at night talking. This was annoying and the light on didn’t help. Breakfast was very basic

The location was perfect for the medina and a short walk from everything in the old part of the city. The staff were helpful and communicated well. Our room was comfortable however, during the day and evening there could be quite a lot of noise from people and children down the alley -This is to be expected in a city and it was quiet at night. Breakfast on the rooftop was fresh and delicious, and it kept us going for most of the day - be warned, the gulls enjoy it too! So let staff know when you are leaving your table, otherwise they will raid the plates! The rooftop was relaxing and you could hear the crashing waves of the sea.
Cons: It would be improved if the riad was able to manage the smell of cats - they are all over the city and it is obviously tricky keeping them out, but the smell could be very strong in places, especially on the rooftop, where you eat breakfast and relax.

Cons: Compte tenu de la temperature très froide et le vent le matin en Février, le manteau et les couvertures ne sont pas suffisantes pour apprécier le petit déjeuner sur la terrasse. Il serait bien de proposer le petit-déjeuner en bas au chaud.

Petit riad décoré avec beaucoup de goût. Chaque chambre est aménagée avec un décor différent, tapis, coussins, ferronnerie d'art, tableaux, proviennent certainement d'artisans locaux. Le petit déjeuner copieux est servi sur les terrasses qui donnent vue sur la medina. Nous avons commandé un repas, cuisiné avec beaucoup de saveurs, et délicieuses pâtisseries

Отличные завтраки, вкусные и сытные: яичница или омлет на выбор, йогурт, фруктовый салат, марроканские блинчики или слоенные лепешки, пирог, натуральный кофе - нам хватало на весь день. Удобное расположение. Приятный персонал.
Cons: Отсутствие окна на улицу, но это особенность большинства риадов, насколько я понимаю. Хотелось бы больше света в номере, темновато.

We only spent one night in the superior suite room 7, but it was one of the best places and rooms we have ever stayed whilst travelling abroad. The staff are all extremely friendly, welcoming and warm, the room was very clean and smelt amazing, the bed and bedding is the most comfortable I've ever slept in, the soaps and lotions are devine, the location is excellent right in the centre of the Medina, the breakfast was delicious and the jams homemade. Everything was just fabulous.

Köstliches Frühstück auf der Dachterrasse mit sehr nettem Service. Cons: Photos trompeuses sur Booking, qui n’ont rien à voir avec la réalité, j’ai l’impression que s’était des fausses notes. Chambres humides, vieillottes, pas propres avec moisissures dans la salle de bain, mauvaise insonorisation, et mouches partout!! Le riad est mal entretenu et aurait besoin d’une rénovation, sans parler de la terrasse qui est négligée. Le petit déjeuner est vraiment pas bon, et se prend sur la terrasse alors qu’il fait froid.

Cons: Unser Zimmer ging zur Straße und hatte zum Glück 2 Fenster (die Wohnungen auf der Dachterrasse auch), einige andere Wohnungen sind aber sehr dunkel. Dort hätten wir nur sehr ungern gewohnt. Das Bett und die Kopfkissen könnten besser sein. Das Mobiliar ist im Vergleich zu anderen Riads eher einfach (aber zweckmäßig).

Beautiful riad in the center of the old town. Loved the breakfast in the morning (the omelet was fantastic) and the design of the entire place was perfect.
Cons: The only issue that I think others have wrote about is that the local boys play football in the streets every day, which can be a bit loud if you have front room and the windows open. They typically go home for dinner, which means that the evenings were still quiet so we didn't really mind.

Cons: L' unico problema che abbiamo incontrato è relativo al fatto che il centro di Essaouira è impedito al traffico e sarebbe stato utile ricevere una email con la quale si consigliava un parcheggio affidabile visto che peraltro ce ne sono due proprio fuori delle Mura. Noi abbiamo lasciato a macchina su un parcheggio di strada e l' abbiamo trovata semidistrutta, se sapevamo che a 100 metri c'era un parcheggio custodito ci saremmo andati e il problema non sarebbe successo. Il personale dell' hotel è stato gentilissimo ad aiutarci nei confronti della Polizia. Mouad è stato di grosso aiuto. Invece di inviare una email 3 giorni prima chiedendo conferma di arrivo anche se la stanza era già stata pagata sarebbe stato meglio se avessero trasmesso una comunicazione per come parcheggiare la macchina.

Chambre spacieuse & très comfortable. Très bon petit déjeuner sur le toit-terrasse (mais attention aux attaques de mouettes chapardeuses !) Très bon emplacement dans la médina.
Cons: Les marches des escaliers ne sont pas trop faciles... (mais bon, c'est un riad & j'étais blessée à la cheville...) Le Spa ferme tôt (par comparaison à d'autres Riads dans d'autres villes du Maroc) & ne m'a pas permis de bénéficier d'un massage après une journée de visite de la ville.

It is a beautiful building interior and the rooms are very comfortable, we particularly liked our unique tiled shower. Breakfast is served on the terrace which is such a lovely way to start the day. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Also a great location in the medina, walkable to everything to see.

We ervaarden veel gastvrijheid doorheen ons ganse verblijf. Op de vroege ochtend van ons vertrek werd speciaal nog een uitgebreid ontbijt geserveerd. Villa Garance is mooi ingericht en straalt veel rust uit. De rooftop is uitstekend gelegen en was de perfecte lokatie voor het uitgebreide ontbijt met persoonlijke service.
Cons: Ondanks het feit dat onze kamer in orde was, hadden we toch liever nog kunnen kiezen voor een upgrade met meer licht en een venster naar buiten.

Buena relación calidad/precio.

Lovely cozy room, with big window into the quiet street. Very clean, we had everything we needed. There is a great rooftop with views over the town where they serve an amazing breakfast. We had a very early check out and they prepare a breakfast to go for us! We also used them for the Hammam which was absolutely amazing wide very good price.

Very good breakfasts. Extremely polite and attentive staff. The room is adequate in size with modern bathroom hardware and reliable water. The Villa is well placed in the town: close to everything yet very quiet. The staff took care of all our needs and provided useful information. If you have balance issues request a room on a lower floor. Though the terrace is charming it is a long way up.
Cons: Absolutely not their fault but it was very windy. Apparently Essaouira is a windy little town. The presence of Portuguese architecture makes the town quite unique.

Stayed 3 nights in the deluxe room #10 on the rooftop - comfortable room with a separate small living area and an outdoor sitting area, great for relaxing in the afternoon sunshine. Breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Good location down a quiet alleyway.

Hier kann man sich wunderbar nach einem Trubel Tag in der Medina zurückziehen und entspannen. Es fehlte uns wirklich an nichts. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls fantastisch und das Haus (Riad) ist wunderschön. Wenn wir wieder nach Essaouira fahren würden, liebend gerne ein weiteres Mal.

Unser Zimmer war sehr schön, sauber und ruhig; das Personal sehr freundlich, der Check-in sehr einfach obwohl wir nur zwei Stunden vorher gebucht hatten. Besonders fand ich, dass es im Riad Leseecken und einen geräumigen Empfangsbereich gab. So gibt es viele Orte, die man auch außerhalb seines Zimmers nutzen kann! Alles in allem sehr zu empfehlen!

Alles was fantastisch . De inrichting, het pand, de kamers zijn prachtig. Het ontbijt op de rooftop was heerlijk en verzorgd. Alles was schoon en het personeel was zo vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De lokatie was geweldig. Een straatje van de souk en midden in de medina. Essaouiara is prachtig en authentiek. Ik ga zeker terug.

The staff were super friendly and helpful day and night. The riad was charming and in a great location in the middel of the medina, walking distance to souks, restaurants and beach. Very spacious room in the rooftop, very comfortable bed, nice shower and toiletries. Wifi just a bit slow in the rooftop.
Cons: Be ready to climb some steps to enjoy the breakfast on the rooftop. For us it wasn’t a problem, our room was also on the rooftop and we totally enjoyed it. The breakfast could have a little bit more of variety.

La habitación era amplia, limpia, con dos balcones a la calle y el baño era cómodo. El riad es muy acogedor, bien reformado pero manteniendo la esencia. El desayuno en la terraza superior es variado y completo. El anfitrión fue muy amable y accesible y nos explicó todo lo que se podía visitar en la ciudad y nos dio consejos sobre restaurantes y dónde ver las mejores puestas de sol. Volveríamos sin dudarlo.
Cons: La calle de acceso es un callejón de una de las calles principales que no está muy bien iluminando, como la mayoría de las calles secundarias. Sin embargo, no nos dio sensación de inseguridad en ningún momento porque está en una zona céntrica y muy transitada.
