Great location in the Medina, close to the square but not too close so it was quiet and down a safe feeling side alley. The inside of the Riad was beautiful and the room itself was nice and a good size. The staff was nice and the breakfast was good and they accommodated our schedule and provided our favorite baghrir pancakes :)

Cons: Unfortunately for the price / value it was a bit disappointing. First thing, we had a very awkward situation with the shuttle porter that demanded more tip - such that Samir had to give him extra!! We didn't pay a bunch of money for this Riad, plus pay for the shuttle to have attitude from the porter that was already getting paid. The bed was extremely hard and we didn't sleep well the entire time! While the breakfast was good, I disagree with booking.com calling it "excellent", we had better in Chefchauen (more items). The toilet was installed way too high in the air and your feet couldn't even touch the ground, very weird. Also it dripped constantly which was annoying at night. The bathroom mirror was installed too low and we had to crouch to use it. The heat in our room didn't work, there wasn't a night light so it was extremely dark. The rooftop was disappointing, we never enjoyed it because it was just setup a bit weird.

It is an authentic looking riad. The rooms are large and the bed was comfortable. The staff were quiet and respectful. They make the traditional Morrocan breakfast very well. However, after a few days we got tired of it and requested if we can have a bit of variety. The staff obliged and made us omelette the next day, as we suggested.

Cons: The riad is a bit of a walk from the main road of the souk. However, once we got the hang of it, the winding path to and from the place wasn't so bad. The staff helped us with our luggage on our last day so even going to the airport wasn't so bad. The jacuzzi on the roof top wasn't usable. There was a big crack on the filter and it was dirty. I'm sure the staff would have cleaned it if we said we'd like to use it, but we didn't bother. It would have been good to soak in it since we stayed for a few days, but it wasn't a deal breaker. There's a lot to do in Marrakech.

We originally booked for 3 nights but ended up extending our stay for another 2 — that’s how much we enjoyed it! The riad was very clean, safe, and located right in the heart of the old city, within walking distance to everything. The freshly made breakfast each morning was a highlight, and the hospitality was exceptional. Samer and Abdullah were incredibly welcoming, always ready to help and offer great advice whenever we needed it. They truly went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our kids had a great time too, especially enjoying the rooftop where they could relax and soak up the sun. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Marrakesh!

Cons: Honestly, we had a wonderful stay and there’s very little to improve. If anything, a small suggestion would be to add an ironing board or ironing facilities for added convenience.

The Hotel is a Riad. Ie rooms arranged around a central space with a marble fountain. A traditional Moroccan house right in the middle of the Medina, tiny street no cars. We spent our last night in Morocco at Dar Sohane after a two-week road trip, and overall, it was a fantastic stay. While it may lack the cozy, family-run feel of some smaller riads, it is still a wonderful and comfortable place to stay. Our room was the most luxurious we experienced in Morocco—straight out of *One Thousand and One Nights*, complete with a fireplace and even a (non-functional) fountain. The massive canopy bed was incredibly comfortable, making for a truly magical atmosphere. If there’s one thing that could be improved, it would be the breakfast. For the price, we expected a bit more, as we had better breakfasts in accommodations that cost a fraction of the price. That said, Dar Sohane remains a great choice for a stay in Marrakech!

Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Samir and Abdul. Accomodation and rooms were excellent and the room was cleaned and beds made up every day. It was lovely to have traditional Moroccan breakfasts each day. The Riad is in a great location to explore the Medina in Marrakesh and even though it is only five minutes walk from Jemaa Al-Fenaa square it is very quiet and peaceful. The roof terrace is a lovely spot with sun loungers, a covered seating area and a whirlpool jacuzzi to unwind after a day exploring the Medina.

Pros: - Large room - Great breakfast Cons: - A bit of a hike from transport - The room is a bit dark and you can hear pretty much everything from other rooms and the dining downstairs. If someone coughs or sneezes or blows their nose from other rooms, you will hear it. - airport transfer double what others charge - don't take their tours, that's also double the price - we got charged city tax that included our 7 yo kid even though they're only meant to charge 12yo and over.

The location is perfect in a central but not crazy buss area of the Medina. Samir was super helpful and organized a car for us to pick us up at the airport and also bring us back to the airport. And also you don’t have to find the way to the Riad someone is picking you up at the car and brings you right to the Riad. It was our first time in Marrakech and Samir assisted us with all questions we had before arrival and while we were there. Big thanks to him! The rooms are very big, lovely decorated and very clean. And the location perfect. Breakfast as good and a lot. We stayed for 4 nights and breakfast selection was a little different every day.

Always positive and smiling, also hired a taxi for us and ensured we find it and leave safely Location is in the heat of the city, very convenient

Cons: The only thing I might mention is a very very hard bed, but you get used to it ☺️

Location was amazing, just a short walk to the markets. The room was lovely and big and the bathroom was also very spacious. The host was very welcoming with turkish tea and some small snacks after our long day of travel. The breakfasts were possibly the best we had in our whole turkish holiday. We even left some of our luggage there when we went to the Sahara and they made sure to keep it safe until we returned.

Cons: There was nothing not to like about this spot, and I would definitely visit it again if I went back to Turkey. If you are looking for a quiet spot right in all the hussle and bussle then this is for you.

Great (very filling!) breakfast and yummy mint tea. Samir was a great host who helped to book things for us. The room was exactly as described and looked just like the photos. Dar Sohane is perfectly located in a quite backstreet of the main tourist area and the hotel is very quiet and peaceful. Staff did a great job of cleaning our room each day. The toiletries and robes in the rooms were a nice touch.

Cons: The door frame/step is very easy to trip over in the dark! We also got told about the tourist tax on our last evening, after making an effort to spend our cash, which meant a bit of a scramble to club together the money, so we would have appreciated being asked for this at check-in or just earlier on instead.

The location of the Riad is amazing, its only a 7-8 min walk to the main square. Breakfast was really good, we had an assortment of pancakes each day with coffee, orange juice and yoghurt. It was really tasty and and filling. The Riad was really nice and authentic, there is a water fountain in the middle, which is great for taking pics. The room was really spacious and the shower was great, we were able to access hot water at all times. We were given clean towels every day which was an added bonus. Samir was great in making sure we reached the Riad safely, organising a airport pick up free of charge (as it was our honyemoon). He also served us mint tea + biscuits on arrival which was a nice gesture.

Cons: The bed was extremely hard and not something me and my wife are used to so sleeping on it was a bit of a challenge. The walk to the Riad isn't the nicest route, especially late at night so be careful. It would've been nice if we could have had a more varied breakfast rather than eat the same thing every day. Finally, me and my wife went on the 3 valley tour. We couldn't even make it to the final valley because I had told the driver I had a hammam experience at 5.30pm and we had to leave early. Also, for lunch, they stop at a restaurant where there is a river flowing. It looks aesthetic but the food itself isnt great at all and expensive (120 DHMs for 3 course lunch - our crepes were awful). We were told by Samir that this excursion would cost 120 and assumed it would be in DHMs as that's the currency we've been using throughout our time here but on check out, he told us it was 120EUR so it was a bit disappointing to be asked to pay for that when the currency was never clarified to us. This led to a stressful checkout as I also had to pay local taxes worth 20 EUR (be mindful of this when staying at any Riad!).

Beautiful and quiet Riad just 5 min walk from the main square Jemaa el Fna. The closest accessible point by taxi is 5-10 min walk from the riad (Most part of the medina is car free area). This location is perfect to explore the main points in the city, to reach the pick up point for day tours and to grab a taxi to explore other areas in the city. Samir was really friendly and helpful. Our bedrrom in the first flor was espacious, clean and comfortable. Equipped with safe, hanging area for clothes, sofa, fridge, AC, etc. Breakfast was really good with diffrenet moroccan sweets, breads, omelette, spreads, handmade juice, coffee, vanilla yogurt.... It has a nice rooftop, although we did not use it. They kept our suitcase as we had an afternoon flight and arranged the taxi to the airport for us (Here my recommendation is to leave "at least" 3h before departure. Taxi can be late, security queue to access the airport, check in queue, security queue, passport queue, sandwich queue....)

I stayed at three different riads during my time in Marrakech to experience a variety of architecture and locations, and this one was my favorite. Host Samir was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and I absolutely loved my room. My room was on the ground floor near the kitchen, but the guests having breakfast in the morning didn’t disturb me at all. I also appreciated the thoughtful design: the windows had a mirrored exterior, allowing me to see out during the day without anyone seeing inside. Every detail, both inside and outside the rooms, was gorgeous. It was a truly lovely stay all around.

Stunning riad in the old Medina within walking distance to all the markets and restaurants and general vibe of the square. The room was large and really beautiful. Lovely big bathroom. Breakfast was amazing but the very best part was the staff who were just really brilliant.

Cons: It comes with being in the old Medina so it understandable but the water pressure was sometimes an issue. Also just note there is no fridge in the room so that’s not an issue just something we didn’t realize till we got there.

Samir was a very welcoming host, attentive & helpful; WiFi was down when we arrived , he had already prepared a temporary solution whilst it was fixed (which took less than 1 day). Food at the riad was delicious, we had dinner on the day we arrived & decided to have our final meal in Marrakech there too. Location is excellent, - 5 minutes walk to the main square, restaurants & bars. The riad was a calm & quiet retreat from the bustle of the city. The shaded jacuzzi on the roof terrace was appreciated in the heat.

Dar Sohane was the perfect place to stay in Marrakech. I really could not have asked for more! What made the stay so great was how wonderful the staff were. They were there to help with absolutely everything! I was travelling with my mother and the neighbourhood was extremely safe for two women travelling and 3 minute walk to the main square too. The breakfast was served Moroccan style every morning just outside our room which was lovely. The accommodation is also spotlessly clean too! Nothing much. An old house sitting in a maze hard to reach

Cons: The location is not touristic. A very old house located in the middle of a historic city hard to reach. You have to walk around 20 min from the parking space or taxi point to reach this house. There is no signs on the wooden ancient door of the that house. Would not recommend.

Everything was perfect. We were in late due to a strong queue at the passport control and the driver gently waited for us (2+ hours). We met Abdel close to the medina and we to together to the Riad as Samir was waiting for us with home made dinner. Moroccan salad, lamb tajin and desserts and fruit (10/10) We arrived into the room and finally slept.

Cons: Nothing everything was perfect.

-The location is perfect, about 3 minutes from the bustle of the bazaar, but still quiet. The road to the riad is safe. - the hospitality and the communication with guests 10 points - beautiful, traditional building - very comfortable bed -nicely furnished rooms - they waited for us with mint tea,( I think it was the most delicious mint tea we tasted) and they fixed room much earlier - traditional Moroccan breakfast, plentiful - I definitely recommend using the Riad's airport transfer service. I appreciated that they arranged the transfer for us even early in the morning and escorted us to the taxi (the riad cannot be reached by car) -they printed our boarding pass,

Cons: We liked everything. if someone likes more privacy I recommend to book a room upper on the 1st/2nd floor (Our room was on the ground floor.) No view from the roof terrace. They could make it more attractive. Eat Breakfast there maybe?

We really enjoyed this riad. The location is excellent, the riad itself is very polished, and the staff are excellent. We arrived quite late and the staff kindly made us dinner. Our flight out was early and again, the staff went the extra mile to make us a to-go breakfast. The only minor criticisms are that it is a quite small riad and can be a little loud but we personally had no issues sleeping. The room was also quite dark even with all the lights on. These are minor complaints and I would happily stay there again!

I had a 10 day trip in Marrakesh, so I booked 4 riads to experience the different architecture. All of them are 4 stars riads and Riad Sohane is the most average out of the 4. It felt like a 3 star riad in terms of decor, amenities and services. I liked my stays at the other 3 riads much more: Riad Kaiss, Riad Anika, Riad Jona.

From the moment we got there, Samir was truly a standout, with his big smile and helpful manner. In fact, the entire experience at Dar Sohane was exceptional. From the moment we stepped in the door we were whisked away to a different, storybook world. The breakfast was as tasteful as it was tasty. The room was large and very well appointed. The bath and shower experience was the best we’ve had in over a month of travel. All in all, this was the nicest hotel we stayed in over six weeks. We would definitely recommend Dar Sohane to anyone interested in a beautiful, unforgettable experience!

The Riad is a little inside and not easy to find at first but once you find it you will realize how central it is is to most of the attraction. It is only 5 minutes walk from the Jemaa-elfna and upto 15 minutues walk to most other attractions and still is very queit. The best part of the Riad is its people. Samir, Abdail and the team are extremely warm and helpful. The Riad is beautifully decorated and makes you feel the culture and history of Marrakech. The breakfast was traditional and delicious. They also packed us breakfast on request at 6:30 in the morning for our day trip. Samir also helped a lot for our pick-up points and recommended good restaurants. Definitely recommended.

Samir was such a gracious and kind host, showing us true Moroccan hospitality from the moment we arrived to the day we departed. He recommended activities, places to see and eat, and always had a smile for us. The staff even baked my partner a birthday cake because we mentioned in passing that it was his birthday! As for the riad, it is just as beautiful as depicted in the pictures. It's a quiet and calm oasis from the hustle of Marrakech streets, and we enjoyed some warm sunny days reading on the rooftop terrace. Minor tip to first time visitors, if you're not confident navigating busy narrow alleys, it's worth asking Samir to arrange private transport from the airport, as taxis can't drop you on the doorstep of the riad. In all, syukran to the staff of Dar Sohane for a wonderful stay!

A classic riad close to the heart of Marrakech Medina. Host Samir was very friendly and welcoming. Interiors are exactly as they are on photos, room had a sitting area and all bedded set provisions, unless you’d want to spend time on roof terrace - which was also nice, even in winter.

We had 5 nights in this beautiful and comfortable Riad - the best Riad we stayed at in Morocco! Everything was perfect: bedroom suites; bed comfort; size of room; cleanliness; wi-fi worked well; delicious breakfasts; inner courtyard; roof deck;

Cons: This Riad is NOT well signposted. You will definitely need help finding it, however it's in a perfectly safe area. Suggestion: Riads in Morocco should provide a bottle of drinking water for each guest, each day.

The staff was very helpful .Alrhough located very much in the centre of Medina, it’s very very safe . You could move around alone even late in night .

Cons: it is located too much away from the main road and you have to walk for 10 min through the Medina to reach . also the room we got was very dark and the lighting was so poor that we had to use our telephone torch to find stuff in the room . the interior was too dark. Bit the ladies in the kitchen were very helpful, smiling, pleasant . Overall, if you need to have experience of riad right in the very heart of Medina, it’s good.

We chose a Riad to have a traditional experience and that's exactly what we got. From the layout of the inner courtyard, to the interior of Riad itself and lastly, the design of the rooms - it certainly made us feel like we were in Marrakech. Breakfast was delicious and presented beautifully. You could drink their mint tea for ever. The location was perfect. The riad is located right in the heart of a souk - only 5 minutes away from Jamaa El Feena- what really felt like a minute because of all the exciting things to see in the souk there and back to the Riad. The Riad is also located very close to all the historical sites. We really appreciated being given a tourist map by the Riad and this inspired us to do a walking tour of the old city. On the first day walking to the Riad was scary because of the many in roads/lanes but you pass by many other riads, a mosque and a restaurant - we actually felt so safe and loved walking back at nights. When we would come back we would always find our beds made, bins taken and toilet paper/towels replenished. Beds are super comfortable. Rooms have AC. Our hosts Samer and Abdul Raheem were amazing! Were such a joy to speak to and were very helpful. Samer arranged a last minute trip for us to Casablanca - our driver was super helpful, such great company to keep so much so that we asked him to accompany us instead of waiting in the car. The rooftop was exquisite with a jacuzzi and patio style dinner layout - I wish we had time to make use of this!

Cons: Nothing not to like and nothing the hosts can do to improve this as it would compromise the traditional feel - but just a tip for the women, you may need to bring your own ring light. The rooms can be quite dark when the window shutters and doors are closed - I had the best sleep because it was complete black out but struggled to wear make up in the mornings because of no natural light.

what an amazing place! Everything was just perfect from the first moment to the last. as we arrived in the early evening we had out airport transfer arranged through the riad, which meant that we were met by the manager (Samir) where the taxi couldn’t get any further through the very narrow alleyways. He walked us to the Riad, where we later enjoyed a fantastic meal. Absolutely outstanding. We ate at hight end restaurants during our stay and the food at Dar Sohane was just as nice. The Host was very helpful, friendly and kind. He gave us a lot of helpful suggestions and tips and was always up for a good chat. The riad is clean, the room lovingly furnished and the jacuzzi is a nice touch for your well-beeing after a day in the vivid medina of marrakech.

Cons: The wonderfully carved wooden doors between the atrium of the riad and the rooms themselves have a distance of about 3cm to the walls so one can hear other people talking while they are eating breakfast or just talking inside the atrium. It doesn't work in the other direction, so people won't hear you talking while you're in your room. Still it took us some time to getting used to it and it would be nice, if the riad would close the gabs between doors and walls.

Let me get the worst part out of the experience out of the way: The Riyad people tried to pull out typical scam on me when leaving. Even though whole stay was pre-paid and even though I saw receipt, the guy charged my credit card (which he somehow had access through Expedia). When I argued and made sure he understands I would take action, he finally backed off saying "his manager would pay out of his pocket for me". If you have read reviews of Marrakech riads you would have seen this exact tactic used over and over on naive tourist to scoff extra cash out of them. They tried to did this to me even after I tipped the guy $10/day. Apart from this, the riad is good place to stay but expect to leave with bad taste in your mouth. The building is traditional courtyard based Riyad however nothing too fancy. It's clean, its functional and everything including AC works. Terrace has great view of surrounding medina however breakfast is served in courtyard. Breakfast is bread, jelly, butter, orange juice and coffee. Again basic stuff and I have had better in similarly priced other riads. One big issue is with shower which is 1/3rd open in center so expect to splash water going out and make mess. The location is OK - inside medina where cars cannot go. The car would stop about 10-15 minutes walking so if you had big bags you can either expect to sweat or take service of portor who will approach you anyway. Absolutely make sure to agree on price. Locals pay about $2.5 and tourists $5.

This was the first place that we stayed in Morocco and it set the bar very high for service and quality for the remainder of our trip. Breakfast was great, the room and public space was very clean. The location was great as it put us close to everything we wanted to see, but still far enough away so that we never heard any of the noise and celebrations from the square at night. on a slightly odd note, this riad also should boast about their great pillows - which after traveling around Morocco, seems to be a bit of a rarity. The rooms are large and spacious. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel arranged a transfer from the airport which was very good. We were greeted with mint tea and pastries and shown to our room, The Blue Moon Suite on the first floor. It was a good size and comfortable, although a little chilly at this time of the year but a heater was supplied. We had dinner there the first evening of Morrocan salad, tagine and fruit for dessert. It was good and convenient although there are plenty of places to eat outside. Breakfast was lovely fresh bread and jams, freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs, pancakes and yoghurt. The waiters were lovely and Ahmed was very helpful, giving information about restaurants etc. A lovely stay and very good value for money.

Have been traveling a lot but this was definitely one of my best hotel stays ever! We had to change our reservation just a couple of days before our arrive and it was no problem for the hotel to fix that. Quick mail response and everything was in order as we arrived. Just as our transfer. The hotel is very near located to all the touristic places as Jemaa al fnaa, the jewish quarters, Bahai palace and so on with a just a few minutes walk. If you as us are a just staying for a couple of days this spares you a whole lot of time. Maybe a little bit too near these places which sometimes can be disturbing as a tourist.. The riyad itself is very beautiful and cozy. Clean, big rooms, and has a great staff. Especially Ahmed that helped us along our stay with a whole lot of recommendations. Really helpful! Even though many recommends you to not book tours and other activities via the hotels we did so and realised after our one day tour at the lower Atlas mountains (which was great!) that the hotel only cooperates with people and agencies that helds as high standards as them selfs. Leading us to book everything else we wanted and needed via the hotel. If I ever return to Marrakech, this would definitely be my next stay as well!

The Riad is an island of tranquility in the bustle of Marrakech. The room was spacious and had multiple "zones". The roof terrace was private and had a jacuzzi. So, hit the Souks or sight see in the morning and return to the Riad early afternoon to relax, sun bathe and cool down. Hot mint tea on the roof terrace......

A work colleague recommended this hotel and we are so glad that we decided to book a four night break here. The Riad is beautiful and very quiet despite being only a short walk from all the bustle of the old city. However, what really made our stay was the kindness, courtesy and professionalism shown to us by the staff of the Riad. Cristina and her staff made our stay special and I would like to thank them for this. Would I recommend this hotel to others? - ABSOLUTELY! Would I stay anywhere else in Marrakech? -ABSOLUTELY NOT!

This Riad is a fantastic place to stay in Marrakech; the staff are wonderful and can't do enough to make sure you have the perfect stay. We stayed in the Blue Moon suite which was lovely and very clean, the bed was also very comfortable. Breakfast was great too.

I could not recommend Dar Sohane more highly to my fellow travellers. In fact, since returning from a short business trip to Marrakech last week, I have recommended this riad to several friends. Cristina and her team provided truly exceptional service throughout my stay, and went above and beyond the service expectations of all reasonable travellers. Nothing was too much trouble and any request I had was fulfilled.

This was a very clean and small hotel that is owned by a nice Belgian woman. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the service is what sets it apart. The owner and her staff welcomed us with tea and homemade snacks and showed us what we should do in Marrakech and where to buy tickets to get to Essouira. She also was willing to go with us to the mobile store to set up our prepaid mobile SIM card. However the place was at first hard to find. It's off the main road Riad Zitoun el-Kadim close to the Djemaa. As you go down the road, watch out for a sign hanging from above to tell you where to turn.

This was an exceptional place to stay - lovely riad, good food (and great dinner!) and outstanding service from staff. And so quiet - even just a short distance from the market. And it all started before I even arrived as Ahmed sent a confirmation e-mail and offered transport and dinner options. I had a little trouble finding it, being new to Marrakech and not understanding how the streets were named - once I knew that they were on a small street off of riad zitoune lakdim south of the Djemma el Fna, I had no trouble - and saw their signs readily pointing the way. Once there, Christina offered tips for when to see what I was interested in and travel suggestions which made for well-organized days, and when I had dinner there, Olaya (sorry I'm not sure of the spelling) made a beef and prune tagine that I continue to think about - an outstanding meal (and her breakfasts were good too!). The setting is so calming and pleasant - it really set the tone for a terrific visit to Marrakech. I would stay here again - and hope to!

Had a great stay - Dar Sohane feels like home, not like a hotel. You get a lot of personal attention and a beautiful Riad for a price that is a little higher than some local options.

We spent a few days here on our honeymoon trip and LOVED Dar Sohane! If we ever get back to Marrakesh, this is where we will come! The people that run/work in the riad are so incredibly kind and willing to help you in any way possible. Our room was beautiful and spacious, very clean and tidy and private. We had AC in our room so it was nice to have a cool place waiting for you after the heat. We arranged a cooking lesson at our riad and it was so much, not to mention delicious. The location couldn't have been better but right off a side street that was quiet and had very low traffic. We felt safe, taken care of, and very comfortable. I do recommend calling/emailing them before you arrive in the city to set up travel from the airport/train station to the riad. We never would have found it on our own! They arranged for a taxi to meet us in the airport and once we were dropped off as close as we could get, someone from the riad met us to walk with us the rest of the way. Choosing a riad was so hard because there are so many, but we are very, very happy with our choice!

Service and comfort were very good at Dar Sohane. The noise and chaos from the streets vanished inside this riad. Christina was particularly helpful recommending sites to visit and arranging transportation. The beds and pillows could be replaced since not comfy. Ok for 1 night but not 3. Recommend arranging prescheduled transportation from airport. It's a bit more expensive but worth it.

We stayed at Dar Sohane the night before departing Marrakech (after arriving back to the city from the countryside). We received a nice welcome with mint tea and were shown to our room, the Balinaise suite. The room was wonderful, large and clean with a little sitting area and a nice bathroom with a great shower. We had stayed in two other comparable riads in Marrakech and this was the nicest, newest room. However, when we returned back to the room from dinner that night, there was a massive cockroach that we had to kill, which definitely spoiled the stay. It's a shame because otherwise the hotel was quite nice.

Lovely peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the main square, despite being right in the heart of the action, just a 5 minute walk away from many shops, restaurants etc.
