Staff were very helpful, provided information in English when needed and a great filling breakfast. The location is in a good part of Rabat, a quiet area just behind the market and within walking distance from everything. As most Riads the natural lighting is a little limited in the bedrooms but the the rooms are spacious and beautifully designed. As a solo traveller I felt comfortable and safe. For those who are driving there is an underground parking close by which has 24hr security.

The staff were delightful - friendly, caring and helpful. The property is situated close to the main shopping thoroughfare but is quiet at night.
Cons: The facilities are tired and in need of a refresh. Breakfast is carb-intense - we would have appreciated some eggs or cheese and more fruit.

Avoid this horrible place at all costs. This riad should be banned from Expedia. Pictures on Expedia do not show the realty of the place. hot tub does not exist, snacks and coffee bar does not exist even filtered water does not exist you can only buy bottled water at 2 times the price of the market, I understand that most Riads are old, but this place is falling apart, and the owner does not want to spend a penny to replace anything (see pictures below)Rooms are dirty mold in bathroom and rusted taps and broken furniture.Hot water for a shower does not exist at night unless you ask the reception to turn on the electrical heater. When asked they said we use solar system during the day but at night only by request to save energy!!!Owner is greedy and lies about additional fees. She wanted to charge city tax on children under 12 and any child over 5 years should pay this fee. in addition, she wanted to charge us more fees on our third child although itās mentioned clearly that the apartment I booked sleeps 6 people without any extra charge unless we ask for extra beds or covers (which we did not) luckily we were able to confront her with her own policy on fees that she added on Expedia not to pay this scamEven when we tried to leave after our first night (we booked 2 nights) owner not only refused to reimburse us but also wanted to charge us taxes for both nights even if we stayed for one night. The Riad El Maati is traditional and yet modern and functional inside the room. Itās an easy 20 min walk from the train station. It has electrical outlets in the right places, plenty of wardrobe shelves, and built-in wall heaters. The terrace deck is stunning too. Staff are all very friendly and accommodating, such as for extra blanket. Flexibility with breakfast schedule on departure day. A few improvements could be a bath mat as the shower has no doors on 2 sides so the surrounding floor will always get wet. Google map direction to the Riad is incorrect but luckily we were able to find it on our own

This hotel is unique in many respects!! Itās situated in the heart of the old city and surrounded by the market place. The hotel itself is beautifully created with old apartments with marble floors and modern designs, yet leaving the feel of its 60ās era. It is far from a typical hotel that brings the Moroccan culture to anyone looking to add a memorable experience to a getaway or vacation. Rooms are clean! Beds are comfortable. And the staff is soft spoken and caring. The only improvement needed is better lighting in the courtyard at night. This hotel deserves 5 Star ratings in its own respect!

I enjoyed very much my stay in Riad El Maâti, the whole place is really nice, very well located and near many things like Quai de Bouregreg. SUPER clean, the shower pressure just great, and most important of all the people that take care of the Riad. Malika and Radilla have been extremely kind and caring during my stay; very, very attentive. You can only imagine what a big heart they have and how thankful I am to have meet them! It was a GREAT surprise to have such a nice attention from all of them, it is a pleasure for me to recommend such nice places with great people here in Morocco.

This property is amazing. Tucked into old Medina it is a perfect place for those wanting to submerge themselves into the sites, sounds and smells of a large market. There is rue after rue of vendors and people are plenty full. You are a short 10 minute walk to the water where there is a wonderful restaurant on a ship. Keep in mind this riad is VERY authentic and intimate. There are only 7 guest rooms, no windows, tall walls around the entire area and tons of people the second you head out the locked front door. Very different āhotelā experience but once acclimated, very enjoyable.

You can see that this place as seen better days. It needs a bit of refresh, especially in the bathroom. Breakfast was ok, but to bad it was served in a very dark room. The place is hard to find at first, as there is no indication anywhere in the medina labyrinth. Staff is very nice, but communication was a bit difficult as english or french was not well understood by the main hostess. The big plus in that place is the peace and quiet at night. Keeping in mind Rabat is so not an interesting place to visit, just skip it.

This was our first Riad in Morocco and it was our favorite! The Riad is beautiful, the staff were very friendly, and our room was a relaxing escape after our tours during the hot July days. The room had its own router, so WiFi service was excellent and the room also had A/C which was needed in July. Being in the medina, it was surprisingly quiet, but yet still close to shopping and restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are wanting to stay in a Riad in Rabat. It is near the edge of the medina, so you have easy access inside and outside the medina.

Just a regular Riad in Morocco. I was just disappointed when I finally walked into my bedroom, 2:00 p.m. and almost 90 degrees, and no AC. There was a small fan and even though it gets cool at night, but to walk to an oven like that, was a bad experience. Also, there is a Jacuzzi but they fail to tell you ahead of time that there is a fee to use it. I was also not impressed with breakfast. A no repeat for me.

Riad was the best weāve stayed in in all of Morocco. While we were worried that it would be warm as there was no air conditioning, nights were cool and it was very comfortable. Breakfast every morning at the rooftop was delicious and of a wide variety (we had orange juice, coffee/tea, pastries, cakes, yogurt...). The riad was always somewhat easy to find and it was very accessible to the main streets. Staff was also soooo friendly and hospitable. Oussama always smiled and gave us great recommendations on what to eat and do. He also sang for us HAHA. Price of the riad is more expensive than usual but itās definitely worth it.

Riad Maatiās space is lovely, from the ground floor garden to the rooftop terrace. Our room was delightful, comfortable bed, relaxing bathtub with jacuzzi (heads up, itās a bit loud to run late at night), nice tiny balcony overlooking the courtyard. We were looking for somewhere between a hostel and a luxury hotel, and this exactly fit the bill, with a laidback vibe but plenty of amenities and good service. We didnāt eat dinner here, but when we grabbed groceries to make our own lunch, the staff helped us find dishes and everything we needed from the kitchen. What really made it a wonderful stay was the attentiveness of the staff. They not only explained the touristic attractions but also advised us on where to find local hidden treasures outside the main medina. They were so thoughtful and excited to help arrange a birthday surprise for my girlfriend. Thereās a genuine sense of fun accompanied by amazing professionalism that made us wish weād booked this riad for our entire week in Morocco. Only two minor negative points: The WiFi is spotty at best inside the room, although in common spaces itās more reliable. Itās a little hard to find on your first go. An extra sign would help!

We walked out of our van and a man greeted us with a pull cart. He pulled our luggage through the Medina. We followed him through the narrow and winding streets until we made it to the Riad. When you get inside, itās beautiful! They leave water bottles and Moroccan cookies by your bed. We were also greeted with tea and more Moroccan cookies. The staff were all really friendly and sweet. The only thing is that the rooms get pretty dark in the rooms at night with no sun. There are a couple lamps and only one main ceiling light. Other than that, we had a great stay.

A clean and compact riad in the median, which was easy to find. A comfortable stay that was marred slightly by not being able to have a massage. When we enquired about booking one on our last day the young lady on reception told us that she would need to call the masseuse, that wasn't an issue. We were due to check out at 12 and wanted massages at 11.... we were told that there would not be enough time to do this due to having to check out. There was no consideration of late check out or accommodating our request, which was a shame as the hotel was empty and we were willing to spend money on treatments. Their loss I guess!

Excellent medina for a family of 5 with small children. Exactly the right personalized service you would expect from a well run Riad to make you feel at home. Tucked away in the medina not far from Bab Chellah, the Riad is an oasis of tranquility that gives you a chance to catch your breath and relax in its desert zen-like setting. Food was excellent with just the right touch for the kids to make it a very enjoyable experience for all.

We arrived late at night, due to a very lengthy train delay, but the staff arranged to order us a pizza and have it delivered to our room. The riad was very lovely with a lush, green courtyard. The rooms seemed spread out enough that it felt like we were staying there alone (In fact, we thought we were, until we met other guests in the breakfast room the next day). My only issue is the riad was a little difficult to find. This was the only time we actually welcomed an unofficial "guide" to show us where to go. (Mind you, it was dark - it may not have been so difficult in the daytime). Rabat was a surprise to me - I guess my expectations were set a little low, based on what other travellers told me, but I LOVED it. I would definitely stay at Riad El Maati again.

The jasmine was blooming when we got to this riad. It is fantastic. The rooms were very nice. And the little touches like tea and cookies and argan oil at the bath were big bonuses. The owner had been diligent contacting us prior to our stay and offering a taxi. We took her up on this offer and this saved us. This Riad was SO difficult to find. The taxi driver parked on a street and then we walked about 1/2 mile into the medina, where cars were not allowed. This Riad was off a dark alley that was off an alley etc. We would have never found it. The manager Abdal was wonderful, greeting us and making us feel welcome. The breakfast was delicious and the 2 women who served us polite and friendly. The one problem we had that the room was dark and we could not read or see things well. We froze the first night as the heater was broken, but when we told the staff they provided us with a radiator for the next night.

As others said this is great for an experience/short stay. The staff are kind and caring. If you need to stay longer then consider something with good WiFi, richer breakfast selection, without the sound of morning prayer. I rated it very high as I consider it as an experience rather than just accommodation.

Me and two friends showed up in the dark of night needing a place to stay after travel plans were messed up a bit. They welcomed us in, quickly prepared a room and served us welcoming tea. We stayed in a really cool loft space and woke up to fresh traditional breakfast. Not all the staff speak perfect English but it wasn't a problem for us to communicate basic things we needed. Great location in the Madina but Google maps doesn't correctly show the side street so it may be hard to find, especially at night.

The location is excellent with some great restaurants within walking distance. The room was somewhat smaller than expected and did not really have a proper seating area. The roof terrace was very nice as were the staff.

This is a good place to stay if you want a level of comfort and service in a riad style setting. The riad is nicely furnished and well situated in the medina once you figure out how to find it! The raid arranged a taxi to pick us up from the airport and bring us to the door which involves a drive into Rabat and a short but confusing walk through the alleys of the medina not sure that I'd have found it on my own, even with Google maps! The main benefit of this riad is the manager Abdel, a friendly and extraordinarily helpful young man who is always polite and patient no matter what the request. He was our main point of contact and went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay in Rabat a pleasent one. The other staff including the chef who prepared a delicious meal for us on our first night were exemplary in their attention and friendliness all are to be commended for making the Riad el Maati more than just a nice boutique hotel. Some small annoyances include very poor WiFi, basically unusable and a jacussi bath that takes almost half an hour to fill. The absence of any support (headboard or wall) behind one side of the bed is a serious design flaw that could easily be rectified. While price is on the higher end it is worth it for the service alone. We visited in January so the place was quiet ie lacking in atmosphere but we could see that in better weather/temperatures it would be more lively.

We stayed in the Family Suite on the first floor. All the staffs were kind and considerate. Homemade breakfast was best of all that I experienced during this trip (even better than much more expensive hotels and Riads that I stayed this time). Very much satisfied overall. The only problem was that more than half of the power outlets in the Family Suite were broken and didn't work which was a bit inconvenient.

Would 100% return! The most wonderful staff. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast each morning was lovely and delicious. They treat you like family. The location in the Medina was perfect and not complicated at all. I urge anyone traveling to Rabat to stay here. By far better than any other mainstream hotel. It was honestly one of the best experiences of hospitality in any country!

It's overall good riad with clean rooms. But one thing is that it doesn't really feel like a riad. It's more modern which is nice but not traditional like a riad should be. But it's overall good riad with clean good sized rooms. It didn't have a air conditioner Thoe.

We stayed at El Maati for 3 nights, and it was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. The staff is fantastic: super attentive, kind, and generous (big thanks to Abdel, who made our stay truly magical). The food is amazing; probably the best meals we had during the entire trip. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and beautiful (unlike many other riads, they're simple in decor, but still stunning; a mix of shades of white, natural wood, and glass). We will come back.

This riad is a gem. When we arrived they served us mint tea, and helped us to book a tour to Volubilis. In our impeccably clean room there were dates and cookies waiting to welcome us. The room was beautiful and sunlit with an adorable balcony looking out to the courtyard. It is so tranquille and quite. It is only a few 'blocks' into the Medina, so not so difficult to find. But ask your cab driver to drop you at the Bab Chellah tramway stop. Our cab driver said he knew where the riad was, but dropped us off on the other side of the Medina -- also negotiate your cab fare before you start driving. From the train station -- don't pay more than 10 DH. The absolute BEST thing about this riad is their helpful and kind staff. The ladies who do breakfast are charming, and the young man who runs the riad in the afternoon and evening is capable, professional and very kind. I was telling him about our tour to Volubilis, and we had some trouble with the driver taking us places we didn't want to go and overcharging us, and the young man (after talking to the owner) insisted on paying us back what we were overcharged. The room can be a little cold, but heats up quickly when you turn the heaters on. The only less than perfect thing in this riad is that the hot water is a little inconsistent. It may not always be possible for 2 people to take a hot shower/bath one right after the other. I felt very welcome, safe and well-taken care of at this riad. I recommend it without hesitation!!!

We needed an affordable place to stay for our one night in Rabat. A lot of the traditional hotels did not seem up to par and this riad seemed to have fabulous reviews. We took a risk and I think it was worth it. The old world charm and lovely welcome treats made for a great first impression. Breakfast was ample and varied and the service was lovely. A little tucked away in the medina so you may need help if large/multiple bags are involved. All in all, a short but lovely stay

Our family spent a total of five nights over the past two weeks at the Riad El Maâti. Our group took up three of the rooms and the Riad has only a total of six. So, this was as close as you can get to "having a place to ourselves" while traveling. What made us feel really at home, however, was the owners and staff of the Riad. Laurence and Farhid, the owners, live in the Riad and helped us with every question and (sometimes crazy) requests. The staff helped us make the most of our trip and stay comfortable and well fed. I do feel that I need to mention Abdolrahman and Maryam for all their help but feel bad about not mentioning by name every single staff member for their warmth and kindness.

We stayed 2 nights at this Riad and we had a very pleasant stay. Decor was subtle and authentic, it creates a relaxing environment. Having breakfast in the roof terrace was great. Staff was friendly, we received good tips for places to visit and to have dinner. Abdel was particularly helpful. We accidental bump into him at the Kasbah des Oudayas and he showed us around the area, talking us through the history of the place. For non-moroccan drivers parking inside the medina can be challenging, especially if you arrive after 5 pm. Entrance to the street parking is through Bab Chellah, expect having to dodge lots of people, bicycles, some donkeys, etc.

The staff at the riad was incredible. They went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable, suggesting restaurants and shopping areas where we could find authentic food and souvenirs. They helped us arrange a car to the airport in Casablanca at an excellent rate. The only downside was that we arrived in June and there was not an A/C. We highly recommend this hotel!

I generally need A/C and was not aware that this place did not have it. If you like to be cool when you sleep, don't stay here. You have to keep your windows and door wide open to not stifle, so you hear everything going on in the place.... Otherwise, the location is good.

This was the second time I stayed at the Riad. It's just in the medina so you experience the feeling of really being in a Moroccan environment but quite safe too. The rooms are spacious and there is a lovely roof terrace where you can relax with a mint tea or Moroccan beer or glass of wine. The breakfast is generous and the staff are very helpful. If you want a mini bar and flat screen TV don't bother but if you want a taste of Moroccan medina life in beautiful setting I would recommend Riad El Maati.

The riad was beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was treated to complimentary coffee and pastries when I arrived. My first night, I ate elsewhere, and my second night I ate at the medina. I was the only person eating but the food was very good and the service was attentive (not the case everywhere in Morocco). Room was comfortable with a nice modern bathroom and a view of the interior courtyard. The roof terrace has good views of the medina. The only downside is that there aren't many restaurants nearby and if you have luggage it is a bit of a pain to make your way from the taxi stand through the crowded alleys to get to the riad (but it's just a short walk so no big deal)

Of all the riads we visited, the owner gave us the most clear directions. We easily walked from the train station. It is a distance so if heavy luggage, consider asking for a taxi. The souks are close and you can walk to the waterfront and mausoleum. Nice breakfast, wonderful staff. We had many nice talks with them.

Place is beautiful. Cleanest hotel we have stayed in in Morocco in the last 3 weeks, with excellent decor and best plumbing. Since this is located in the medina, this is quite a coup. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I can recommend this one without reservation (not the case with my other reviews). Food was also excellent and reasonably priced. A rare two thumbs up (that is a compliment for non-English speakers).
