It’s very challenging to get to this hotel and nobody warns you in advance. I had to walk for 20 minutes with one backpack, one carry-on and one checked luggage, not very ideal. I had an early morning excursion at 5 AM so I had to walk for 30 minutes to get to the pick up location. (4:30am) I guess it’s pretty safe.

We loved our stay at Riad Granvilier! The hosts were lovely, really friendly and helpful with whatever we needed. The riad is beautiful, clean and we felt really comfortable there. Breakfast was great and there was always someone to greet us when we returned to the Riad! Location is great really close to the main square, would highly recommend this riad to anyone visiting marrakech!

This property was rated 5 stars along with a 9+ customer rating. I honestly don’t know how that’s possible. The property was an old home in the middle of the Medina (old town) that was converted into a hotel. It was down two long narrow corridors, and was impossible to find without assistance from several locals. When we finally arrived, we were greeted by a friendly attendant. However, the property was in run down condition and wasn’t very clean. My wife didn’t want to stay because she felt unsafe. If you are looking for a 5-star experience, this is not the place.

Fantastic Riad! Wonderful staff and just a comfortable and nice vibe. The room we got was on the top floor. Loved the tea and breakfasts. On the first day walking there from the taxi drop off I thought it was far, but after walking around the markets I felt like it was a great location. There are different markets around the main square, and this one had shopping close by as well as locals. Loved a soup shop down the street. Khawla got us breakfast a few mornings and was really nice and laid back. It felt like they anticipated our needs and helped us without being over bearing or in your business which is lovely.

A friendly welcome, a pleasant breakfast and a beautiful riad with a calm rooftop and the sound of birdsong were let down by dirty towels (with pink lipstick on one), intermittent WiFi and a non-functioning television.

Peaceful retreat, a short walk just 5-10 minutes from the mayhem of the souks and square. Easy access to everywhere, we didn’t take a cab once aside from airport runs. Roof terrace was beautiful and staff went above and beyond to help us feel at home.

Great location.Very close to the main square. Upon arriving at Marrakech, it felt a bit daunting as the side streets off the main roads were very quiet. The constant locals hounding & misinformation weren’t very reassuring either, something learned to be very common in Marrakech. Luckily, we managed to ignore the locals, who we soon realised their intention was solely to make money and take us through different or longer routes to the same place, & continued walking into the unknown. Thankfully, we easily found our way to the riad by looking at the door numbers & a gps app. All the fear soon disappeared as we learned that Marrakech is, in fact, a safe place to walk around. The riad looks beautiful & the rooms are very Moroccan style decorated. We stayed at a room on the first floor. It was spacious & beautiful. The only downside to it was that we could hear the shower from the room next door, which might be annoying to some people if they intend to have a lay in. Be careful when choosing the ground floor accommodation as it opens up to the courtyard where we all have breakfast & gather for easy evenings. It may be a bit noisy for the ones that like to sleep until later or to the ones who wish to have an early night. The staff were extremely welcoming & helpful. The breakfast was also very good but very Moroccan, which for some may not be enough but we enjoyed them.Thank you very much Mohammed, Hamid, Bouchra and Khawla for the wonderful time you guys have provided to us.

Beautiful riad in a quiet area of the Medina. Everything was clean and comfortable, breakfast was great (the homemade yogurt is not to be missed), and the service was outstanding. The wi-fi connection was also nice and strong in the room as well as in the common areas. The host's motto was "this is your home" and he really went above and beyond to make that true. If I'm ever back in Marrakesh I'd definitely stay here again.

This riad is absolutely stunning. Beautiful architecture, very clean, very safe. The staff was exceptional and consistently went above and beyond to support our needs. Everyone working there was friendly and very attentive. The staff would often chat with us about how our day had been. The riad offers a number of amenities, including transfer to and from the hotel and train station, booking tours, and meal service. While breakfast and afternoon tea are complimentary, you do have to pay for dinner service. I would highly recommend doing this at least once while you stay as the meals are home cooked and simply incredible - just make sure you are very hungry. Like many places in the maze of the medina, it can be a little hard to find if you have not been to the medina before. I highly recommend pre-loading Google maps before you arrive.

This is an old Riad in the heart of the old city. Very authentic and original. Staff was very helpful and the breakfast meal was excellent. The problem was with the facility itself. It has not been remodeled/renewed properly. The bathroom fixtures need updating. The biggest problem was the smell! There was a strong sewage smell in the bathroom and the bedroom. It was intense to a point where we had to check out after the first night despite the fact that we had prepaid for two nights. The owners of this riad need to make a serious investment to update its facilities and fixtures.

An excellent experience, the hotel staff was amazing and were so eager to make our stay feel like "home". We were greeted with warm mint tea when we arrived and when we inquired about booking tours for us they had a tour guide to our hotel within the hour for 4.5 hour tour around the city. They also arranged a day tour the next day and a couples spa treatment a couple blocks away as well. Totally worry free tours, wonderful staff and clean spacious rooms. We have traveled extensively through Europe and I would definitely give them an A+ rating!

There are many small hotels in Marrakech called Riads. The Riads are typically old private residences that have been converted into hotels. This Riad has about 6 rooms. There is staff on site 24 hours a day, and they are very helpful in trying to accommodate even the smallest request. Breakfast is served in the central courtyard, typically coffee, tea, pastries, fruit and yogurt. Staff was willing to make changes to the menu as requested. Dinner can also be ordered in advance and served in the courtyard or rooftop terrace. There are lounge chairs on the terrace for sun bathing. The location (down a narrow alley) was very quiet, but only a three minute walk from all the action in the main square and the shops. This is not an American chain-style hotel. It is a small intimate experience. I am certain there are some things the chain hotels do better, but this is an opportunity to stay in an authentic Moroccan home. There is free WiFi.

We stayed at Orientale Suite for one night - it was THE BEST riad we had stayed in Morocco! Every single hotel staff member is so friendly and helpful, and he/she goes out the way to make our stay a memorable one: We needed to check out at 7am to catch a tour while the breakfast typically starts around 8. We were ready to skip it but were pleasantly surprised that they served breakfast at 6.30am just for two of us (Breakfast includes home-made yogurt, so yummy)!!! Thanks everyone at Riad Granvilier for making our stay such a special and memorable experience!

Marrakech is a maze of alleyways and this nice riad is minutes from the souks and main square. It is quiet, clean, nice breakfast and the staff is excellent. I strongly recommend using their taxi from the airport as you need someone who knows where this riad is located. Finding it or any other riad on your own is not a good idea. We took a full day walking tour arranged by the riad and it was fantastic.

The riad is in a great location and is very nicely renovated. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We did not realize we had dinner included in the price of our stay, and as a result I did not notify them prior to arriving that I was a vegetarian. The worker informed us that he had a chicken dish and therefore no dinner options for me. This was not a huge inconvenience as there are several restaurants close, but it could have been nice to save some money. Our room (Mamounia) was spacious, clean and comfortable. The pictures on the website were pretty accurate. However, this room was against the street and was pretty noisy with the kids playing late into the night. After many hours of traveling, and with an early departure the next morning, we were looking forward to going to sleep early-ish (10PM). Unfortunately we did not get much rest. Another issue we faced was the water temperature in the shower. We showered twice (once upon arrival and once before departing) and faced the same issue. The hot water was a trickle and the cold was full blast. There was not much hot water, and for the second person showering it was mainly a cold shower. of our issues were not major, and sort of expected being in the middle of the medina in Marrakech. Breakfast the next morning was quite good with breads, fruits, juice, coffee and tea. Overall I would recommend this riad. It was comfortable, with welcoming staff and in a great location.

Quite central. Within walking distance from Jemaa el fna. Very nice and helpful staff. Room bit dark with very little light coming in but still nice. Shower sometimes bit annoying with only hot or cold water running or no water at all as low pressure. Handy roof top terrace. Overall recommended place to stay!:)

This place is a beautiful and quiet little oasis in an EXTREMELY bustling town. This is my 4th trip to Morocco and now my number 1 place to stay. The staff is out of their way friendly and our suite (Manoumia) was gorgeous and comfortable. It blends the best of old world architecture (my wife had a photo session just with the room; the doors, ceilings and walls alone are photo worthy!) with modern comforts like nice linens, A/C, wifi, etc. After a few days in the desert the Riad Granvilier was the perfect hideout to rejuvenate and explore the city.

The hotel is nestled away through a narrow alley leading from the main square, pretty handy. It was very traditional and basic. The freeview only seemed to show only Moroccan channels and the wifi was temperamental. The ensuite facilities were dated and in need of repair. The shower head was full of limescale, had to be held in hand when using as the wall fixture was broken. This was highly inconvenient as we burnt our hands with the heat when using the hot water. The drain needed to be unblocked as after a shower the water completely drained from the cubicle after an hour. The ensuite seemed to have a massive hole in the wall, which meant whilst using the toilet or shower, you were exposed to whoever was in the bedroom. This meant everytime I needed to use the toilet I had to trek down the 41 steps to use the ground floor toilet. The roof terrace needed a clean as the loungers and chairs had a burnt and stained cover. The chaps at the desk were pleasant and helpful but the hotel lacked the basics. The credit machine wasn't working so the chap expected me to write down my credit card details for them to process at a later date.I objected to this unsafe method. The chap then rang through to the owner, but she was adamant for this process or cash payment (over 2000 dirhams), not sure why she assumed I had that amount lying around.I convinced the chap at the desk that I would need to withdraw the money and will pass to the member of staff who was helping us. At last they agreed to logic.

We booked this Riad with a last minute deal and probably the room on the top floor was the most modest one... it didn't have the high ceiling as some other rooms and while being cozy, it didn't create a sense of luxury for our stay. The bed was very comfortable with clean white Egyptian cotton sheets and different types of pillows. The place was also rather quiet so it was good for sleeping. However, the rugs in the room felt dirty under bare foot and there was an unpleasant odor from the pipes in the room at all times. An interesting detail was an open hole/window in the bathroom wall next to the toilet. It may not bother all but I would've appreciated full privacy while using the bathroom. The service was good and for example arriving in the middle of the night was no problem at all for the staff. This was great! The roof top terrace with some sun beds, tables and sofa was very nice! All in all a good stay but "outstanding" reviews must be for other rooms (and prices?).

Lovely layout and beauitful rooms but other than that not 2 minutes from the medina as stated, far down run down alley ways with stray cats, rooms are very dark and breakfast poor. No lift there and its a very small place so we were the only guests for a lot of the stay

We very much enjoyed our four night stay at the Riad Granvilier. We enjoyed the location which was quiet but very close to the main square and souks. The Riad and our suite were beautiful but a little chilly as we stayed over New Year and the Riad by design was built for the Marrakech summer. However we were able to make use of the rooftop terrace which was a sun trap even in winter. The staff were very helpful and informative. Breakfast was good as was the mint tea after the hectic streets. This isn't a large modern hotel on the outskirts of Marrakech but it is a fantastic Riad, close to the action and just what we were looking for.

Amazing little riad! The caretaker/host was flexible, courteous, friendly, and prepared us a delectable breakfast before my flight (best yogurt I ever tasted!)The room was well appointed and very comfortable. Hosts of this Riad are young men trying to comfort guests too much, and this often comes across as artificial and overbearing. There is a discomforting silence as a result of less than 10 total rooms and at least 15 minutes of walk to a taxi or any road. Their 5 star claim is a misnomer, either sneaky dishonesty or a hyperbole, and this hyperbole is quiet routine here. Realistically this is a good 3 star motel, give it 3.5 at best. How can an 8 bed room Riad claims to be 5 star is beyond me. If you like the anonymity and privacy that comes with large hotels, just getting lost in the crowd, this is not for you. But if you travel light and are not intimidated by narrow streets with no access to taxi, especially when dark, then this place is not for you.

The Riad was a few minutes walk to the main square yet still remarkably peaceful and quiet. Staff were absolutely wonderful. The Riad, which means, large house has 3 rooms and 2 suites. It has a beautiful courtyard which is exactly as it is on the website. We booked both suites for 3 nights and they were decorated differently yet very similar in layout, size and luxury. Marrakech is a fantastic place. We felt very safe and most places are well lit. Locals are friendly and haggling seems to start at 25% initial prices. This seems to work quite well and many things that started around the 200 Dirham mark were purchased for under 50 which is quite remarkable but that's what the guidebooks suggested. A little tip -Try to walk with purpose when lost in the souks. A local joke seems to be sending tourists the wrong way so don't ask for directions! Just stick to a route and when you come out the other end get a yellow cab. You can travel anywhere in the city centre for under 50 dirhams, usually around 20.

We arrived in Marrakech 21/2 hours late, we were VERY pleased to see our driver waited for us at the airport. He took us to the city where we met the Manager, Jalil. He was very friendly, professional and informative. He walked our bags through the main square at night and with the help of his staff we arrived safely. The hotel is beautiful. Very clean. Very comfortable. Good bathrooms. No complaints. The dinner we had the evening we arrived was delicious. Our table was prepared for us when we arrived. Jalil sat down with us in the morning during breakfast and went over directions on a map so we could find our way to the attractions. The homemade yogurt was fantastic. We had the opportunity to sit and talk to the staff at night exchanging stories and learning about each others cultures. By the end of our stay we would consider Jalil and his staff our friends. We stayed at a lot of hotels and riads around Marrakech and we found Riad Granvilier to be the best of the best. We enjoyed it so much that we actually returned to say good bye at the end of the trip even though we were staying at a different riad across town. We forgot a few things in the room and the manager kept them for us till we came back. When we arrived again he provided free drinks to us and listened to our travel stories around Morocco. It was an amazing experience. We actually got the feeling of being at home with Jalil and his staff and I can honestly say I've never felt that way about a hotel stay.

Absolutely amazing stay at Riad Granvilier, the Manager and ALL staff were fantastic. Couldn't do enough for us. Went with my mum and made us feel very special. We had a gorgeous room, with much needed air con and it was very clean. Massive surprise when you walk into riad, beautiful orange tree in the court yard, everything was tidy and attention to detail was spot on. Only downfall was the walk through the small lane to get back and fore to main square, ideal for being right in the middle of everything, but a little scary walking down there in the evening. We had no problems tho, everyone we passed in the lane were friendly and so were the cats :-) just not used to being somewhere so different. Really can't fault it, and would not hesitate to recommend to EVERYONE! And I'd definitely go back.

I recently stayed in this riad during my holiday in marrakech. couldn't be more pleased that we booked this hotel. The riad is a 5 minute walk from the old square and right next to the souks. you couldn't be more central. The staff are unbelievably nice, out of this world. Jalil the hotel manager helped us with absolutely everything from arranging airport travel back and forth (free if you stay more than 4 nights) to which places to go for eating, best shopping districts etc. it was my first time in marrakech so i was super grateful for all his help. having breakfast on their beautiful roof top was just incredible. Also, if you are going to stay here, make sure you eat there at least once! the food they serve is to die for!!! I stayed in the room called "ayadine", it was absolutely beautiful, and considering it's on the ground floor, surprisingly quiet! i'm already planning my next trip to marrakech later in the year and will stay at this hotel again for sure! thanks so much!

After a bit of a walk off the main square we discovered the oasis. The staff was very helpful from guiding us to the hotel upon our arrival including tea, to serving us breakfast up on the 3rd floor terrace and assisting us with our rental car. The room was appointed very nicely, was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this Riad !!

Located in the labyrinth of streets just south east of the jemaa el fna square (where all the stalls and things happening). This Riad is not easy to find, but it is central so I can not score the location other than super. I would recommend calling them to get directions if needed. The Riad it self is lovely, the service is very good, breakfast on the terrace is great, and all in all it is a very relaxing place in a busy city. Staff is very helpful if you need help with bookings etc.

We booked this hotel due to the numerous good reviews here and on other websites. The location is within a 5 mins walk of the main big Jemaa El Fanaa sq. And although the last 2 or 3 mins walk is down a typical small street (more like an alleyway), we felt totally safe. Overall, the small team at the Riad were fantastic and could not do enough to make us comfortable. It is a Riad (which is basically a very nice B&B) and as such there are no price lists of the additional services etc which is all I would say is missing. I was surprised to be asked to pay an extra 4% for the ENTIRE initial booking plus the extras as I wanted to settle by card. I had to find cash to cover my initial booking cost plus the extras which was a touch inconvenient! But that's my only issue & yes, I would go and stay there again so it can't be bad right?

The locate of this Riad is great, only 5 minutes walk from the main square. The room is absolutely beautiful, the staff are the best. Breakfast is fantastic, the only negative is the shower, the hot water comes and goes, but everything else is prefect!

Beautiful Riad, recently renovated Riad was very well decorated. Service was exceptional - Hicham and Bader are friendly and extremely helpful. The Orange tree in the middle is remarkable. Room was clean, comfortable and extremely well decorated. There were pressure and temperature problems with the shower during our stay which was frustrating - I advised the staff. Breakfast was outstanding and served to us on the rooftop terrasse which is nice. Location is really close to the Djemaa el Fnaa square making it very walkable. It's however a 15-minute walk to the nearest taxi dropoff but they will escort you and help with luggage. You may want to tip a local with a cart to carry your stuff. Also, take note that they didn't take automatic payment from Hotels.com therefore I needed to bring my cash payment with me (plus additional for taxes and/or shuttle). Check your room confirmation.

Our room was quite small for large suitcases but otherwise beautifully designed. The staff was wonderfully attentive, multilingual and helpful. Tea and fondants after a harrowing arrival through the footbol fan-choked Medina where cabs were not allowed. Morning departure smooth with a waiting taxi at the end of our alley. Breakfast was elegant, diverse and limitless; fine coffee. Excellent tagine. Must again compliment the exceptional hospitality and caring by the manager, chef and colleagues (one of whom ran back through the Medina at 23:00 to try to locate my lost phone)!

If you don't want to stay in a traditional hotel and get more of a local flavour, this is definitely the right choice. The hotel is down some narrow back streets, not for the faint hearted, but the locals are friendly as are the street cats! Take up the offer of the free hotel transfer from the airport, especially if travelling at night. The staff are friendly and the accommodation is clean and quiet. It's right in the town centre so good for being in on the action. The hotel is a courtyard though, so the common areas are open to the elements and can be cold at night and early morning.

From the second you book with the Riad Granville they are looking after you, a few hours after I made my booking I received a telephone call from Hicham introducing himself and arranging a complementary airport pickup for me. When I arrived at the airport a combination delays meant I got out of arrivals over an hour later than expected, but the driver was still patiently waiting for me. Then because of the layout of the medina you can only be dropped off at the edge of town, but a member of staff was waiting for me and they took my bags and escorted me through the rabbit warren of streets to the Riad, with a ad hoc tour thrown in on the way. Once you are at the Riad you are taken care of so well, no request is too much, the staff will cater for your every need and want, you want to go on a tour? they sort it, dinner reservations-done, back needs scratching at 4am? then I'm pretty sure they would do that too (I didn't try that by the way!!). The riad itself is very clean, the courtyard is a great place to have breakfast, although you can have this on the roof terrace or in your room as your preference dictates. My suite was very nice, It does lack a few of the luxury facilities you get in 5 star hotels (like a pool, spa, Jacuzzi, gym) but it is perfectly located 2 minutes from main square but is very quiet because of its location down an alley. But it is the staff that really make this place special, and are a credit to the management and I thank them for making my stay perfect

My girlfriend and I were very pleased with the service provided by Isham, the host. He was tremendously hospitable and helpful in providing or sourcing relevant info as we made our trip plans for Marrakech and elsewhere. The room was fantastic as well.

When planning my trip to Marrakech, I decided to stay in a riad (a traditional Moroccan bed and breakfast) rather than my typical habit of luxury hotels. It's a decision I'm beyond happy I made! Not only is the Riad Granvilier beautiful - with its lovely interior courtyard, private rooftop and breathtaking rooms - but their hospitality is unmatched. Mohamed, Mustafa, and the rest of the staff were amazing and, by the end of the week, became more like friends. They had a genuine concern to make sure our stay was perfect: indulging in our many questions, helping with itineraries, and even helping me beat a terrible cold (tea + honey worked miracles!). The Riad is also perfectly located in the Jemaa el-Fna medina, which was exciting and very convenient. I highly recommend the Riad Granvilier and hope to return again soon.

We absolutely wanted to stay in a Riad in the Medina for the true experience of Marrakesh and we chose Granvilier due to their excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. Knowing that most Riads are quite impossible to find on your own as there are so many hidden in the narrow and lively streets of the Medina, I called the Riad from Casablanca before arriving. Hecham, responsible during the day was so lovely and gave me an appointment at an easy to find spot near the Medina, saying he would wait for me for 2 hours if we were late on the road. 2 hours! no one ever waited two hours for me with a smile. We fortunately arrived on time :) Hecham and his team did everything to make us feel home and special in this beautiful Riad. Very quiet, no noise at night, wonderful breakfasts served in the courtyard with birds, the greenery and the sky above us. We stayed in the suite "La Mamounia" which is beautifully decorated and remains cool, although it was hot during our stay in Marrakesh. Great customer service, decor, TV, air conditioning, and Moroccan tea and pastries served all day. We strongle recommend this Riad over all others. Price very correct. Thank you to all the team Granvilier for giving us such a great experience in Marrakesh is an unforgettable city.

Extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location in quiet "derb" a few minutes walk from the main square. Can't be many better places to stay in the centre of Mararakech. My wife and I had 4 very enjoyable nights here.

Stayed at Riad Granvilier for one night during our trip around Morocco. Fantastic quality of restoration! Would recommend to anyone looking for small boutique hotel type stay. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, top terrace sunny and comfortable Bed and bathroom linen top quality. Make sure you are picked up on arrival as a bit tricky to find for the first time, but once you are there you are ok. The host was super friendly and helpful! Other places we stayed at on this trip do not compare! Beautiful riad, and high quality service. A family from London with a 4 year old.
