This is a conveniently located traditional Riad on the edge of the Fes Medina and has a high rating from guests - which is what led us to book. It appears primarily to be used by tour Groups who are on a package and presumably a lower room rate. Whilst the Riad is beautiful inside, big and clean and the staff super helpful the rooms are basic and not that comfortable.

Cons: The biggest disappoint was the food which has led to our low rating. We had dinner in the Riad on our first night after, and it was very expensive at over GBP50 per person inc drinks. The Menus are traditional and limited with not everything on offer. The quantity of Moroccan salad starters was way too much for 2 people and a waste, the main courses were no more than adequate in terms of quality. Breakfast was poor quality and you can get freshly baked bread and pastries, fruit and coffee less than a 5 mins walk away. The egg was inedible. As independent travellers this was a disappointing and expensive stay, GBP 250 per night (USD 340), at a hotel/riad that doesn’t show Fes at its best. Luckily we found some fabulous places to eat, drink and visit. We booked our guide and a Hamman independently of the hotel, both of which were brilliant, giving us the confidence to truly explore Fes which is an amazing place to experience and has much to offer its visitors.

Cons: L'accueil manque de chaleur, heureusement j'ai déjà effectué un précédent séjour et dès que le personnel habituel est arrivé... Petit déjeuner n'est pas assez copieux et varié. Literie trop dure. On est loin des 40m2

Lovely staff and location. Najuaa, Marcos and Hicham made us feel so welcome even during the Eid period. The building itself is lovely with a beautiful courtyard. It is very well located with museums nearby and the medina only a few minutes walk. Can’t recommend it enough!

Thr facilities are excellent, very well maintained, although there were very few guests, the staff went beyond their way to accommodate preferences and upgraded my room.

Cons: The staff has forgotten I had booked a transfer on departure, and although tried to organise a new one, it didn't arrive and I ended up flagging a standard taxi at the nearby square.

Staff were very friendly and helpful

Cons: The room, and particularly the bathroom, were shockingly poor. Very bad shower that had no means of adjustment, so the water shot out horizontally above head height to the far side of the shower. Unpleasant toilet/chemical odour. No waste bin anywhere. Tiling that looks like it was done by a blind DIY person. Badly mounted mirror with old rawl plugs exposed. Extremely dilapidated furniture (coffee table falling apart). One very unpleasant looking dark maroon velour blanket on the bed (sheets were clean). Cigarette butts in ashtray (we are non-smokers) on balcony.

One of the best Riads that we experienced while travelling in Morocco with Collette vacations. The level of service was exceptional! Marcos and staff provided prompt efficient , friendly service and ensured our satisfaction at all times. The breakfasts and dinner we had there were wonderful. The location was excellent to get to the blue arch and old market. We had suite #20 and it was very luxurious. Without hesitation, we will be sure to recommend the Riyad Yacout in Fes Medina to friends and family.

Absolutely stunning !.Tucked down a long alley. So well positioned for the medina and restaurants. The staff here seem to consist of about 4 people!!! The two gents who run the restaurant and just about everything else!! work so hard and never seem to have time off. Polite and attentive despite being crazy busy when the large parties all arrive at once..Really beautiful place-the best we stayed in throughout our tour.We absolutely LOVED Fes.Bedroom was huge, on split levels and easily accomodated 3 of us.Traditional decor- really super. Very cool everywhere.Huge underutilised rooftop space that they could do so much more with!. Only grumble was the plumbing in the bathroom which was poor. But lovely bathroom!

Excellent service, friendly, great location. Everyone, especially Marcos, helpful and entertaining. The hamman and massage from the twin sisters really aligned my chokras. Food was very good and plentiful. Try to get the Bono or Queen room. You'll have to ask. Bring cash! They take cards by REALLY prefer Moroccan cash.

The history and architecture of the hotel was interesting, with authentic Moroccan art/craftsmanship. The location is pretty decent, close to the old medina.

Cons: The room given to us lacked much light, and was poorly ventilated and bad smelling. The bathroom was not well cleaned, with open used soap bottles lying around and old, degraded appliances and fixtures. The toilet did not properly flush; water continuously poured throughout the night. Breakfast was seemingly large but lacking, with cheap bread and dry pancakes and yoghurts brought to the table, without vegetable or meat servings. The coffee mugs and plates were also not clean. Overall, not a good value for money

This large riad with 45 rooms are aiming high towards a full luxury hotel which may be a bit too high. The staff is however very active and attentive and you will feel seen when being in the public areas. It was a warm welcome. Breakfast is served with speed, but of the breakfasts we had on our trip, this was the least good of all in comparison. The room was good but not excellent even with the extra sitting area. A slushing sound of the water pipes (?) kept going all day and night around, wifi was spotty and the bed rather hard for my taste (slept good anyway after doing a lot of walking). They have an elevator but you still have to brave a few stair steps up and down. But the main feeling was that the hotel wanted so much for you to feel at home and welcome that it sort of became the opposite. I would probably try another hotel in Fez the next time.

He assisted with moving our bags into our room when we arrived & left. All of the staff was extremely responsive & we were happy to show off the beautiful facilities to our tour mates that we met in the Medina. We would highly recommend & would definitely stay again on our next trip 💜

We stayed at Riad El Yacout for 3 nights. I don't think anything could have prepared us for the experience we had. It was completely magnificent; a once-in-a-lifetime. Elegance, class, and charm, all mixed into one classic Moroccan experience. The riad itself was stunning and very well kept. Every corner in perfect shape, with each room unique. There are so many details that you must go to see for yourself. We decided to use the hamam as a husband-wife couple. The ladies did a fabulous job of massage and bathing.  Top of my list of amazing things to say about Riad El Yacout, however, is Marco. From the moment we arrived and throughout, he made us feel incredibly welcomed and cared for. He went the extra mile, for sure. His infectious sense of humor is sprinkled on every interaction.  Because of Marco and the rest of the staff and so many awe-inspiring aspects of the riad itself, I can not recommend Riad El Yacout more.

We stayed here for two days as part of an organized tour of Morocco. The place is fabulous and a true experience of Morocco. The room decor and building are fabulous. The one person that made the experience outstanding was Marco. He was professional ensuring you had a great stay and went out of his way to make sure you were happy. He offered coffee to the room in the morning if you wished. He was funny yet very accommodating. He made our stay at this Riad. Thanks a million Marco and we wish you and your family all the very best.

First and foremost, the finest service and staff around! We are grateful to Marcos, Obama, Elias, Hassania, and all the staff behind the scenes who made our stay exceptional and memorable. The riad itself is beautiful and full of charm, the room was nicely sized, the bathroom and shower was very nice, and the riad is in a very convenient location. The Riad was a beautiful traditional home close to the Fez Medina. Marcos and Hischim were so accommodating and helpful. They were attentive to all our needs and we felt like family. On the first evening of our arrival, they served us a Moroccan meal that was exceptional - traditional Moroccan soup, at least 12 small plates of various appetizers, salad, chicken pastilla and 3 different tangines. We finished our many course dinner with a delicious dessert. What an introduction to the wonderful cuisine of Morocco. We will always treasure Marcos and Hischim’s genuine hospitality and personal attention. Dianne and Dave Hunt , Calgary, Alberta

Hospitality, location, hotel lobby decor. We booked the standard double room for 2 nights. First night we stayed in standard double room. Second night they upgraded us to Suit when we complained about the room and bathroom smell.

Cons: There was a weird smell in the bathrooms in both the rooms (may be because the property is very old). No mirror in the room (it is a small thing, but saves a lot of time when 2 or more people are sharing the room, don't have to block the bathroom to get ready). Normal Breakfast. Served the burnt omlette. We booked the standard double room and the room was not at all up to the standards of a 4 star property (for the price we paid). It was like 1 or 2 star hotel. I think the whole focus of the management is on hotel lobby and other things, not on the rooms. The pictures on the site for a standard double room does not match the actual. No parking. Parked the car on road, near the Riad and we paid extra for the parking. Not value for money.

★★★★★ Our stay at Riad El Yacout in Fez was unforgettable! Upon arrival, an employee kindly helped us locate the parking garage, setting the tone for the amazing hospitality we experienced. The staff here were the kindest and most helpful of our entire Morocco trip. The riad's stunning architecture and rich sense of tradition and history left us in awe—it's no surprise that the band U2 stayed here! Our room was spacious and comfortable. The riad is conveniently located near all the attractions we wanted to visit, and we easily walked to the tannery using Google Maps. Highly recommended for an authentic and welcoming experience in Fez!

Extraordinary riad! The core building is stunningly beautiful with many comfortable common areas and private ones, too (e.g., my room and a small sitting area on the balcony outside my doors). The staff were extraordinary -- my sincere thanks to (alphabetically, insofar as I can spell their names -- my apologies if I fail!) Abdul, Eliash, Hadim, Marcos, Nashua, Yeshem, and Zuhir -- not to mention the staff behind the scenes. Breakfasts were generous and tasty; dinner was wonderful; wine was available. Great location, too, for both foot and taxi exploration of Fez. Superb! Highly recommended!

Riad El Yacout was fantastic. Upon arrival we were greeted with Moroccan mint tea and made very comfortable. It is a family business and we were greeted by the son of the owner, whose care for Riad El Yacout and passion for customer service was evident. He helped us arrange an English-speaking tour guide (which I highly recommend in Fez) and scheduled a hammam in the in-house spa (also highly recommend). We felt like family and were treated with so much care. Riad El Yacout is a beautiful, comfortable establishment and I hope to be able to return one day!

This is a beautiful riad well worth seeking out. It dates from the 14th century and has been lovingly restored with all modern conveniences. The staff were warm and welcoming and very helpful with advice and tips. Marcos was especially so. The riad is very handy for the Medina and near a taxi rank for the station and new town. We spent a week in Fes and this Riad is one of the most atmospheric and historic (14th century) we saw. It is a serene and aurhentic experience with truly warm.and welcoming staff. Bed rooms are spaciously opulent and their Hamman is well worth a visit after a day wandering the Medina. Nice one!

Cons: Morroco is still a cash based society so don't plan to get by using bank cards.

Our stay at Riad Al Yacout in Fes, Morocco, was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in the warmth and hospitality that this beautiful riad is known for. The architecture and decor are breathtaking, capturing the essence of Moroccan charm and luxury. Each room is uniquely designed, offering comfort and elegance that made our stay exceptionally memorable. What truly sets Riad Al Yacout apart is its incredible staff. They went above and beyond to ensure that our visit was perfect. From offering insightful local recommendations to preparing delicious, authentic Moroccan cuisine, their attention to detail and kindness were unparalleled. The serene courtyard and the rooftop terrace provided the perfect oasis for relaxation after a day of exploring the vibrant city of Fes. I cannot recommend Riad Al Yacout enough. It's not just a place to stay; it's an experience that embodies the best of Moroccan hospitality. Five stars are not enough to rate this extraordinary gem in the heart of Fes. The place has been beautifully renovated and has gorgeous common areas. Compared to the average Moroccan hotel, the rooms are large and clean. The guys serving breakfast, helping with the luggage, etc. are very nice.

Cons: When you pay almost the equivalent of the average Moroccan monthly salary to spend two nights here you would assume this is a fine establishment that knows how to please guests - however even if most of the staff was lovely to us, the management was unwilling to take any extra steps, the things that would have made the stay memorable. For example, the booking said I would pay at the property and could pay by card, but the manager said I had to pay cash, which forced me to go get a bunch of dirhams from the atm and walk back with way more money than I feel comfortable carrying around the Medina. Then they told us they had made a mistake with the conversion rate and I actually had to give them more money. Another inconvenience. I asked if we could try the steam room in the spa facility without the whole hammam ritual (I don’t like the scrub) since it was raining out and that was a great chance for them to make up for all these inconveniences and be nice allowing that. But no, I could only do their full hammam ritual (450MAD for 30 minutes - very expensive for Fes), which I declined. Any hotel in the US would have thought of offering us something as an apology, they took their money (twice) and forgot about us.

Cons: I did not like our room. It had a mothball smell, the heater/AC did not work, the room was extremely humid, and it felt wet and cold inside. The food was also expensive compared to the cost off the property.

I never award a perfect score, but this place earns it. Upon arrival, I received a warm welcome from Ziad, setting a delightful tone from the outset. The Riad's stunning entrance hall immediately captivates, hinting at the excellence within. Frequented by notable personalities, it takes mere minutes to understand why—the tranquility and impeccable architectural design speak volumes. I took the deluxe suite on the first floor. The room's aesthetics, from the elegant glass accents to the carefully selected furniture, exude charm. The bathroom, featuring a classical bath, adds a touch of luxury. Throughout my stay, the sound of the garden fountain provided a soothing backdrop, enhancing the overall ambiance. Conveniently situated within walking distance of the entire medina, navigating its labyrinthine streets was made easier with the assistance of a guide. The Riad arranged for Mohammed, an knowledgeable guide, who enriched my experience with historical insights. Importantly, he avoided tourist traps and ensured any purchases were genuine. A few additional details for future guests: - Parking is available nearby, albeit in the public domain. A 24-hour guard provides security. Given the Medina's narrow streets, navigating to the Riad may require some finesse. - The Wi-Fi is both fast and dependable, catering to the needs of modern traveler's. - The Hammam and Massage experience was well worth it.

Location - great as close to the Medina but not in it so easy to navigate from Staff - friendly and quick to assist Massage - lovely

Cons: No plugs in the room - only one so you couldn't charge anything and have a bedside light on Very small rooms and very cold at this time of year The rooms need serious renovation to match the price and standard of the communal area

We spend 2 nights in this splendid and beautifully maintained Riad. The staff are helpful and friendly; they arranged a guide to show us around Fes. We also had a Hammam and massage in their spa, which was lovely. Food is good and they have a bar, so you can get a beer or glass of wine. I would stay here again

The staff was super efficient, helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to keep breakfast for us earlier than their usual time and we are very appreciative of that.

Cons: The bathrooms should be kept cleaner and there should be duvet covers on the duvet, otherwise it is not hygienic. Room looks and feels very busy and cluttered.

Do not be seduced by this hotel’s claims to fame - that Bono stayed here once. He did but that was almost 15 years ago. This place today isn’t what it was then. We have been traveling across Morocco for ten days now and our stay at Riad Yacout left us deeply disappointed. Nowhere did we stay in all of Morocco that required such immediate attention as this Riad. Our room was in dire need of attention - not to mention the noise from the tour group diners that kept us awake. Our toilet didn’t work and the bathtub was corroded and the tiling were moldy ( pictures attached) The staff was hovering and nosy and constantly in our face with questions like “where do you go?” “What did you buy?” “How much did you pay?”we were so disappointed and saddened at the service, which was nothing in line with the reviews that we couldn’t wait to leave the Riad.

It was tastefully restored and had a feeling about it reflecting its history along with appropriate modern conveniences. It’s proximity to the Medina was ideal and accurately advertised, unlike some. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They were helpful with suggestions where these were sought and they knew what they were talking about. The food in the restaurant for dinner was excellent. The pool was great and the hammam and massage was a highlight of the stay. The staff were really excellent.

Cons: Wifi in the rooms was pretty much non existent although it was fine in the dining area and by the pool.

Riad El Yacout is just beautiful. Built to an exceptionally high standard the house has been lovingly cared for and is full of wonderful detailed tiling. It’s is beautifully furnished. The house is a work of art and has an illustrious history. It’s is extremely comfortable and in a great location close to the heart of the Medina. All of the staff were highly professional; kind, courteous helpful and very welcoming. We couldn’t fault the service. The food from the restaurant was outstanding and the in house Hammam was excellent. Mehdi and Oussama were especially kind and generous to us during our stay but everyone was just lovely

We spent three nights in this Riad and it's really a beautiful structure. The staff very gentle and always present, maybe a little bit too much sometimes when you just want to relax or are tired after a long journey. The Road is beautiful. The Riad’s beauty had me pausing to appreciate the detail of the workmanship and to contemplate how and who created such beauty so many years ago. The staff was helpful, wanting to please and responsive. The room was very nice, on the 3rd floor with colorful windows that added warmth to the space. Something beyond the Riad’s control was the 3-4 minutes of wasting water necessary for the hot water to reach the top floor to bathe. Breakfast was the traditional Moroccan bread, fruits, juice.

Cons: Wasting water. Breakfast was mediocre.

The Riad El Yacout is a larger scale Riad very centrally located to the Medina and Blue Gate. The property is well appointed. The rooms are nice and mostly modern but lack small touches such as coffee service, kettle, safe and adequate shelving. The breakfast was decent. The highlight of the Riad El Yacout is the personnel. All staff were gracious and very helpful whether arranging transport, arranging knowledgeable guides for touring around the Medina or hauling heavy bags up 3 flights of stairs. Particular kudos to Marcos and Khadijah who went above and beyond to help us. Overall, our stay at Riad El Yacout was very pleasant and we would return.

I’m so happy I chose to stay in this magnificent place. I have traveled around the world and this place is breathtaking. It’s so unique! The staff is very friendly and they make you feel very welcome since the moment you walk in the door. They greet you with a delicious hot tea. The food was delicious and breakfast setting was perfect. I was feeling a little sick from a day before and the hotel made me some magical tea and I felt better within minutes they even offered to send somebody to get me medications if needed. The location was walking distance to blue gate Medina. Also very close to train station as well go the tombs. Hotel was clean and smelled amazing. I will go back to visit soon! By far and away the biggest and best Riad in Fes. Excellent central location with fantastic, professional and attentive staff who catered to our every wish. The riad has beautiful architecture (dating back to the 14th century) and every facility you could ask for; swimming pool, luxury restaurant, sauna rooms etc. Our rooms were enormous and exquisitely furnished - they made you feel like a king! A huge shout out to Abdou and his team, especially Marcos, for making us feel so welcome in their country and for treating us like his honoured guests whilst we were there. If I ever come back to Morocco this is where I'll be staying. We were also surprised to learn that Bono himself filmed a music video here with U2! The song is called 'Magnificent' if you want to check it out. If this riad was good enough for Bono then it's good enough for me!

Cons: Nothing. It was perfect.

Marcos and his colleague behind the desk were excellent. Marcos was kind enough to come to work early on a Sunday morning so that we could get breakfast before opening time. Also, the lobby is lovely and full of charm.

Cons: lovely hotel and helpful staff, but the stay was not worth the price. Two inches of standing water in the shower stall due to shoddy construction and maintenance, no hot water one morning, and the breakfast offering was a sad joke considering the steep price. Ownership needs to up its game to deliver a hotel experience that the lovely building merits

it’s a palace of beauty, food is excellent, they have beer 🍻 and the pool is perfect after exploring the city and going on excursions. honestly the Riad is more impressive that some of the palaces/sites in the city. we had a slight hiccup in a room which was nothing and were upgraded the following day to a suite without asking. We came back from Chefchauen and we were suddenly in a magnificent suite, also the issue we had was minimal, but the hospitality here is just amazing and the staff were just outstanding. thank you for making our last few days in Morocco that much more special, we will definitely be returning. all the best, Hamish & Nikki

While the Riad, it's breakfasts and the location were fantastic the staff was very sketchy, we asked them to book a car service to Chefchouan for us on our last day, and the man who was supposed to be the concierge took $250 in cash and disappeared. No ride showed up and they claimed something had happened to the driver but it was clear from the drama that that wasn't at all the case. Later we demanded our money from the hotel, not sure if they were robbed by their own employee and were able to get another hotel to get us a ride for half the price. It really put a damper on our entire experience because we expected the staff to be honest and they weren't we are pretty sure they cheated a lot of people by overcharging etc.

The whole place is stunning & the rooms very spacious. Staff were happy to facilitate our late night swims.

Cons: The pricings for extras were both inconsistent & extortionate. One night, a small pot of tea for two cost 25 dh, the next, a smaller pot cost 50. Such practices are not uncommon in Morocco but should be beneath an establishment of this calibre. The average price in Fez for tea is about 10. The most frustrating is the inconsistency and the feeling that prices are made up on the spot depending on who is being served. The small issue of the tea is the difference between an 8 & 10, but it’s the little details that make perfection. A laundry service is offered, €1.50 for underwear & €3 for bigger pieces. We felt it was a bit much.

Rad El Yacout is one of the best Riads in the area! Omar, Marcos, and the rest of their staff will treat you like family. We were welcomed with tea and biscuits upon arrival making the check in process much less stressful. I had some great talks and exchanges with Omar and Marcos and learned a lot about the culture, customs, and sights of Fez. This historic residence was our first introduction to Morocco and when the heavy wooden door swung open to reveal the serene courtyard and what might possibly be one of the country's most humble and capable managers we knew at once that we had made a good choice. The strength of this property is evenly divided between the ornate and spacious riad and their professional yet personable staff. It is the kind of place where instead of shaking hands on departure you just wish you could hug them. We are extremely pleased to have experienced this mystical riad.

Unequivocally outstanding service at this hidden Gem in Fez. I have traveled in over 20 countries. I have to say that this place had the best service of any hotel I have been to. It is hidden at the junction of the old city and the Médina in an unassuming alley. The staff made our entire family feel at home and at ease. The manager came to greet us at the door. Our luggage was whisked away. We were offered refreshments while we completed the requsite paperwork to check in. The first night we were there, my wife needed an adaptor for her cell phone to charge it overnight. So, I called down to the desk to ask for an adaptor. Perhaps the language barriers or phone interference altered the language phenomes to some extent. Long pause. You need an adaptor? Yes. What kind of adaptor do you need? “ I just need an adaptor. “. Long pause. Ok. We will call you back. Three minutes later I get a call back. “. OK. We will have an adaptor in your room in 30 min. Thirty min later a Doctor shows up with three assistants, the hotel manager and two hotel staff. I explain that we only needed a voltage adaptor for a cell phone. Many apologies and explanations later we understand the situation. What was most reassuring in this entire humorous experience was the level and degree of concern for their guests which they evidenced by their actions. No charge. Terrific service. Would recommend to anyone.

This was a beautiful Riad that was easy to find, as it's only steps from one of the entrances to the Medina. I checked in and was elated to get a room upgrade. It is indeed a beautiful Riad. The photos show it. If you have mobility problems and cannot use stairs make sure they know it and reserve a room on the ground floor. The pool and the court yard are fantastic. It is hard to find it, it is on a small street not accessible by car, so make sure you ask them how to find it. We had them pick us up at a parking garage where we left our car for the 3 nights. The location is pretty fantastic cause it is in the Medina and you can walk anywhere. In the end we had a good experience there but from the 3 nights one was not good because our room smelled like sewer (we had reserved a simple suit - not the Bono Vox one - but come on...). After we contacted Expedia, the staff gave us a fantastic room but we were pretty much ignored for 20 hours. Elevator did not work. The wifi also did not work in the first 20 hours in the part of the hotel where we were - and we had complained 3 times. So, yes, I guess it was good but if you have a problem you need to escalate it pretty fast. Besides this strange start, everybody was friendly but the women in the hotel staff were extremely efficient and willing to accommodate our needs.

You really cannot choose more wisely if you decide to stay here. This is a wonderful Riad and the staff is absolutely amazing. I can't say enough good things about them. They were constantly willing to go above and beyond for us, answer questions, make us mint tea, or something special for breakfast. It is truly a 4 if not 5 star experience. We had booked a standard room but were upgraded upon arrival to a huge suite. The room was clean and spacious and had the most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in away from home. We slept like babies and awoke very rested each morning. Breakfast was huge and wonderful. Another good thing about this Riad is that it is located in a very easy to find area of the medina. The Fes medina might be the most confusing place on earth, so I am extremely thankful that we booked this place which was easy to get to. Trust me on this one.
