The location simply could not be bettered, with the sea literally a stone's throw away and breathtaking views from the rooftop balcony where (a very good) breakfast is served. The staff were great, the room a delight and the reception first class.
Cons: Bit of a cliche but I really can't think of anything. We'd booked our room only the night before and the Palais des Remparts more than met our expectations.

Volveremos :)

Very large room with large comfortable bed. Ample breakfast but not nothing especially tasty. Very nice and helpful staff. Beautiful spacious bathroom but has a shower in the very deep tub with controls which can not be reached unless you are in the tub. Totally unusable for older, less limber guests. However, when presented with this problem, the receptionist arranged for use of the sauna for showering.
Cons: Shower facilities as above and very low chairs

Location is great for strolls within the city and access to great restaurants and art galleries. Very nice Riad with great views from the rooftop. The staff was beyond pleasant and helpful. We even went back to know the name of the night front desk clerk - Nourdine - so we could show our appreciation. Regretfully we could not thank him personally! Breakfast was varied and plenty, with a good choice.
Cons: Nothing worth mentioning except the breakfast location, which could improve on the inside settings (furniture and amenities) to match the outside, which was superb, with a fantastic ocean view.

The lady on reception is simply wonderful: very friendly, kind, attentive and so helpful and welcoming. The location is pretty unbeatable with amazing 360 views on the roof terrace of both the sea and the medina. The complementary pot of mint tea to take on the roof terrace on arrival is good, while the building itself is a very large riad, but with a lift installed for ease of reaching all the floors, very useful indeed. The interior is beautiful and in the traditional riad style, the room itself was decorated to a high standard and very aesthetically pleasing, with a huge bath, very comfortable bed and toiletries. The room was cleaned to a high standard daily and we were allowed to check in early which was a godsend as we had taken an overnight flight so were absolutely exhausted on arrival. The hotel is situated in an excellent location, within the medina walls (make sure you have some dirham on you to pay one of the men with the trolleys to take you and luggage there if a first time visitor as cabs are not allowed within the medina walls), close to everything. They are not serving food aside from breakfast this time of year, but there is a restaurant also with a roof terrace, directly next door and they serve excellent food and drinks along with live music from 6pm each evening.
Cons: Iâm afraid the breakfast really lets this lovely place down. Itâs so bad itâs inedible and we didnât even bother with it on day 3. Where do I startâŠfirstly, for me at least, one of the things I look forward to when visiting Morocco is the tasty breakfast: hot msemen, rich butter to melt upon it, homemade jams and pastries, hot rich baghir, mint teaâŠunfortunately the buffet breakfast here was a complete disappointment. It did offer msemen and baghir, but these were hard and cold, the butter rock hard, the jam industrialâŠthere was some porridge but it was watery (made with water), and inedible, small pots of flavourless natural yoghurt and industrial tasting stale slices of cake. The âjuiceâ was frozen. The only good thing about the breakfast was the coffee, that was good. We decided to try again on our final day as we had a morning flight to catch, we arrived at the breakfast room for 8am (the breakfast start time) to find it closed. Other guests also arrived and were waiting, but the breakfast staff seemed oblivious to this and just carried on cleaning, etc, at a relaxed place, ignoring the waiting guests. The breakfast was finally more or less ready at 8:30am. That half hour delay meant a big rush on our side as we had a plane to catch. Iâm afraid the breakfast side of this lovely establishment needs a complete overhaul as it really lets it down, I donât know whether itâs a franchise but they donât seem at all in keeping with the rest of the hotel and, at nearly ÂŁ100 a night for a room, I feel that guests deserve a much better experience than the one currently offered. Judging from the other reviews here, I can see I am not the only guest to feel this. Also in the rooms themselves: for ours, there was a missing hairdryer and also as it tends to get cold at night, I would have really welcomed a working radiator (the plug in one didnât work), although they did provide nice heavy extra blankets.

Amazing location. Incredible rooftop view. Very friendly staff especially the cleaners and the lovely woman at reception. We were kindly upgraded to a room with a view of the sea. Very spacious with a lovely bathroom. The wifi was difficult to connect to - like everywhere in Morocco but this shouldnât be a priority for anyone as there is much more to look at in this country than your phone! There is so much potential for the rooftop terrace, a little TLC would make such a difference as it has stunning views. Great location so close to the sea and souks.

Shabby chic hotel with amazing views! Somewhere between a riad and a hotel. We requested the roof terrace room which was huge and had a bath and a view of the waves so we were lulled to sleep and woken up by the waves. Awesome! Also has a lift and so is wheelchair accessible.
Cons: Breakfast was super basic. Courtyard area was strangely dark and not used. Seems like it could do with a bit of TLC.

We asked for 2 separate beds and sea view room, to which receptionist were able to accommodate us and really we were blown away by it all. Even the size of the bath tub, must have been about 6ft. To put it into perspective, we were only meant to stay 2 nights then move on to another city. But we loved Essaouria and this hotel so much we cancelled the rest of our plans and stayed 4 nights in total! The roof terrace was exceptional, just a bit higher up than all the rest with fantastic views over the sea at your right on the edge of the land. Couldnât believe our luck with the terrace next door being a restaurant with live music most nights, so got to hear beautiful music every evening on the terrace. Staff were all genuinely lovely, rooms always clean and we had everything we needed. 10/10 and definitely plan to come again, especially to this hotel!

I loved the view and ambience of the room. I felt like I was in a movie and should be there writing a novel or creating a painting masterpiece. There was a wind, rain and lightening storm to watch from my room and it felt cosy and spectacular! The staff were helpful. It felt like authentic Morocco. Loved it!
Cons: It rained and the water came in under the door, covering the floor. I needed to use my towels to stop it.

Despite being booked in for 3 nights I had to check out after 1 night. The entire place had a very strong odour of what is described as humid wood but actually smelt of vomit and a baby nappy! I spent most of my night sniffing a perfumes scarf to get through it. In addition, as their restaurant was in the courtyard with the rooms over looking it, it remained open and noisy till about 01.30. The windows and doors might as well be non existent as they didnât provide any respite from the noise. Fortunately the staff at the reception were very understanding and did refund my money back and were apologetic however I would be very very cautious about booking in here unless you have a weak sense of smell and sleep deeply in any circumstances.

He de destacar puntos positivos y negativos.

We stayed at five "5 star" hotels and riads throughout our stay, Hotel Palais de Ramparts did not deserve this lofty rating. The room was spectacular only for its view. I believe we stayed in only one of three rooms in the hotel with an ocean view, Once you got over the view, the "senior suite," the second largest "suite," was a smaller than average room that barely fit the queen bed, single bed, two chairs, and table. The closet, desk, and refrigerator were rendered unusable because they were blocked closed by the furniture. The bathroom had a 6 foot long and deep bath tub, but the water pressure and temperature were too low to fill it up. The water pressure and temperature also varied, so my daughter missed her daily hot shower. The center court was dark and dank with the only light coming from the opening 5 stories up. 2 of the 4 trees surrounding the fountain were dead. The fountain was empty and not turned on. The Hamman was the bright spot. It was better than the one at the fancy spa in Marrakesh.

Merci d'ĂȘtre attentif sinon cela fera fuir vos clients !!

Beautiful Riad in old Medina. Very friendly staff and comfortable Classic Moroccan room. Wasn't dirty but floors and shower needed a scrub. Would stay here again. Breakfast good with great views of the ocean from the top terrace.

We arrived at the Hotel Palais des Remparts to a warm welcome from the reception staff which included complimentary tea on the terrace. This might not be particularly novel but the view from the terrace is mind-boggling so it was a very memorable introduction to the hotel. The hotel is very centrally located for most of what Essaouira has to offer, but it's also part of the sea wall and stands proud of everything around it. The room was large and airy with a mammoth bed and comprehensively outfitted en-suite, all finished in an updated Moroccan style. The breakfast was simple tasty, varied and filling but Essaouira has so many other eating opportunities I didn't try the hotel's restaurant. I would certainly recommend this hotel and suspect it would be even better i the summer.

Room was adequate but a tired looking. Furnishings were old and bathroom tub lighting was poor. Overall cleanliness was adequate and staff was ok but Riad is not 4 star quality.

Dypt fint badekar og bra beliggenhet. God stÞrrelse parolene. Selve bygget m Äpent tak indre kjerne var fint. Mat kjedelig, bÄde frokost og i restauranten. Fin frokostterasse pÄ taket. Fikk fÞrst rom uten vindu/utsikt; nedtur. Fikk sÄ byttet rom 2.dag og fikk bedre opplevelse. SvÊrt harde, ukomfortable senger. Vennlige i Resepsjonen.

In general we were disappointed as the hotel did not meet the expected previous rating reviews. We looked into changing hotels but others were much more expensive. Maybe as this is a smaller town expectations if you have come from Fes or Marrakech should be lower. Furniture was shabby, hotel towels did not look clean and there was no bath mat which made the floor very slippery when getting out of the shower.. The breakfast was nothing like shown in the pictures. On the positive side the staff were friendly and helpful and the view from the terrace was magnificent. Our comments may be colored somewhat by our previous riad in Fes which was much nicer and better value..

We enjoyed our 2 day stay at this hotel a lot. The location is great right beside the medina for all shopping and near the old port for restaurants serving fish. Fantastic restaurant right beside hotel with great food and live music including traditional gnawe music and dancer. Breakfast on the hotel terrace was very enjoyable with ocean view. Beautiful beach nearby with waves. A lovely Riad that is well maintained.

Room and bathrooms were large. Bathroom was a bit dark. There were only two electrical outlets in the main room and they were nowhere near the desk. Bathroom fixtures were a bit aged, but place was quite clean. Service was lackluster. I asked three times to have a bulb replaced in my room and it never got done. Breakfast up on the roof offers wonderful views but beware the seagulls!
