It was Abdo who welcomed us with a lovely smile the night we arrived! He was very attentive and accomodating. Our room was number 6, on the first floor. Beautifully decorated, the beds are extremely comfortable, the AC works well, everything was clean. A couple of drawbacks: No coffee and tea facilities in the bedroom, which would have been very handy as breakfast does notstart until 8:30. Basic bathroom amenities and we thought the breakfast was very simple and there was no variety. Amongst other things, each would have an egg, so I had to ask for 2 per person each morning, but they were very accomodating. Preparing breakfast took longer than it should, but we were in no rush. We ordered a green salad and a chicken club sandwish one afternoon. The salad was very tasty but had nothing green in it! and the club sandwish was not up to standard. The pool is not a pool I would swim in. It looks great and the decor all throughout is amazing, but it is more like a little pond. I wouldn't use it to swim. The highlight of our stay were the lovely staff, the service and the Hammam and spa. The terrace was also our nightly ritual before going to bed. Very professional masseuse! Ilham gave me the best massage I've had in my life! I didn't want to leave! The Riad is inside the Medina, with a few minutes walk to the hustle and bustle of this vibrant city. It is very safe, people are very friendly and welcoming. The Riad itself is very quiet and the only sound was the sound of birds in the morning coming in to say hello and the magical sound of the "Athan" being recited from several mosques simultaneously. So, A BIG thank you to Damien, Abdo, Fatima, Fatima Al Zahra, Ilham and the many others whom I don't know their names. We will DEFINITELY come back to enjoy and stay in this authentic place.

You have to stay here, its fantastic! My daughter and I stayed earlier this year and had a wonderful time. Yes its down a little alley, but totally safe. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Aircon is available as is the plunge pool on the ground floor. You can get really tasty snacks from room service throughout the day, delivered to your room or on the sun terrace. Oliver and team are always on hand to offer advice and guidance. The Spa is a must! We had treatments on the first morning and were pleased to see that it is in the Riad, by the plunge pool so no distance to walk at all. This Riad is in a fantastic location for exploring, which we did every day. I recommend you book the Riad transfer from the airport as local drivers will drop you off some distance away and roughly signal where you need to go - not helpful in the dark!

Cockroach Infestation! Within 1 minute of entering our room, we saw 3 giant cockroaches. I immediately booked a different hotel and kindly informed the manger that we were not comfortable sleeping in those conditions. Rather than being understanding and apologetic, I was reprimanded for not being willing to stay. I very kindly explained that we would be too anxious knowing they were there. I was told I need to go back to America and that I should have never gone to Morocco. I have been all over the world and have seen many bugs, animals and reptiles, HOWEVER, that does not mean I want them in my bed!! These are very basic living conditions to expect and seeing 3 within 1 minute, who knows how many more there were we didn’t see. We were denied a refund. It’s very unfortunate they were not able to understand our perspective and this is not a way any respectable business should be conducted. The 5 star hotel we booked was only $200 more. Though we had a very rough start, we absolutely loved Marrakech and hope to come back to this amazing city one day soon.

I stayed at the Al Ksar Riad for 5 nights on a recent trip to Marrakech with a group of friends. The riad is located very close to Bahia Palace and close to many restaurants and shops in the medina. Prices for rooms as well as food at the riad were very reasonable and the staff was very attentive. My room was comfortable and had great aircon as well as a nice bathroom with a walk-in shower. I actually stayed on the first floor and thought it would be noisy, but it was extremely peaceful. The riad stay includes breakfast, which we enjoyed on the rooftop each morning. We also had dinner there on our first night. Dinner needs to be pre-ordered by 3pm and is freshly prepared for your dining time. We were the regulars on the rooftop each afternoon for drinks before we set out for our evening adventures. Very peaceful place with great views of the city. Kudos to the staff for keeping the riad very tidy and making sure the guest were happy and taken care of. They also provided transport for day trips as well as to different parts of the city for dinners, etc. Convenient location.

We were three women friends on our first visit to Marrakech. Choosing Al Ksar was the best decision we made. Not only is the property beautiful, but the management and staff are simply outstanding. Everyone from the skilled spa therapists to the housekeeping staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. The managers [owners?] Olivier and Damien couldn't do enough for us--preparing special meals, booking excursions, following up later to make sure everything was satisfactory. Their warmth and attention to detail made us feel truly at home. Now that we're back, we can only dream of those breakfasts and dinners on the rooftop terrace, punctuated by birdsong and the haunting calls to prayer.

Very warm welcome that was informative and settled us in well. The Riad is well located to visit the souks and local restaurants on foot. We stayed 4 nights and relaxed on the terrace, enjoyed the breakfast and food on offer. The staff were very helpful and booked taxis for us etc. Our room was beautifully equipped with comfy beds, ample sized bathroom, balcony and seating area in the cool. Ideal stay, thank you Al Ksar Riad & Spa.

A super location in the heart of the medina. Walking distance to many of the attractions. Damian was always on hand for advice and guidance. We were lucky enough to have the ground floor room overlooking the pool with our own terrace. The room was comfortable and clean, unfortunately there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and as an earlier riser I enjoy a drink when I wake. However, having said that the morning staff were always accommodating and made me a pot as soon as they arrived in. Breakfast on the roof terrace was plentiful and tasty. My husband and I treated ourselves to a double Hamman, a great experience and again the staff were lovely. Overall a super time spent at the Riad Al Ksar

Fabulous riad, all rooms are beautiful, clean and well maintained. Loved the traditional decor and accommodation. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. The riad has an amazing courtyard with pool and a stunning terrace for breakfast, drinks and sunbathing. The location was excellent, next to Bahai Palace and walking distance to the Medina and most places. Around the corner is a lively square with nice restaurants. We visited as a family and would recommend.

We were warmly greeted when we arrived. We arrived a couple of hours before checkin and shown to the roof, and shown how to order food/drinks. We booked to stay at the hotels b&b. We didn't use the spar. We found the rooms clean and tidy. Air conditioning didnt work but there was a heater/fan in our room. No tv or fridge in room. Beds were too singles pushed together and were very high to climb on to. Beds were comfy. Shower was slow and cold. Breakfast was a glass of chopped up fruit, glass of yogurt then a plate with slice of cake bead and barmcake. And other breads then u were given a pouch egg. Tea or coffee. The English tea was the best. The gentleman who owns the hotel was always round and friendly. Wifi was good on all floors just need to sign in to them all. Would we stay again yes!!

What a lovely place to stay. The welcome we received from Oliver was the warmest welcome we have ever had at anywhere we have stayed. He was always at reception if we had a question. The Riad was easy to find and in a good location. Walking to/from the Riad to the Souks and main square was easy and safe. Oliver had gone through a local map with us and marked out any places of interest. Rooftop was a nice place to have breakfast, and on the last morning there was a very rare rain shower so we ate indoors. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend. We never got to make use of the spa or pool as we were out and about all the time. The room was comfortable and spacious.

Riad al Ksar was a fabulous base for our trip to Marrakech. Perfectly clean and tidy with great rooms and all built around a beautiful central courtyard. Wholeheartedly recommended by everyone in my family.

Riad Al Ksar is an amazing hidden gem within the Medina. The almost colonial quadrangle set premises is discreet and a haven amongst the alleyways of ancient Marrakech. As a Riad and a Haman spa it offers dining and accommodation over 4 floors. The rooms are comfortable and homely, clean and well appointed with A/C. The bed is comfy and generous (we had a suite). Be clear this is a traditional property, not a modern box apartment, so full of character and charm. The provision is headed by Oliver the proprietor, who makes the experience so welcoming and reassuring. Oliver welcomes all guests, briefs them on the best way to have a great stay in Marakesh and genuinely cares that you are set up for success. Oliver is a true star in the script that leads you through the diverse destination that is ancient Marrakech. I'd recommend personally this location and host without question.

This Riad is in an awful area, the police station at the entrance told us to be careful with personal stuff and suggested they call the Riad to have someone walk us in, yes there is another entrance but it’s all so close. The owner was very cross we got to see and experience the area. The Riad itself is totally overrated I realise the other reviews read well but be warned! suitable for young bag packers only. Booked in for 4 nights left after one.

Beautiful Riad and fantastic staff, led by Damien who is very helpful and knowledgable. All services offered if you want them, with no pressure at all. Lovely roof terrace where a great breakfast is served and where you can relax and have a beer or a G&T and watch the sunset whilst listening to the evening call to prayer from the mosques! Good location close to Bahia palace. Highly recommend Riad Al Ksar.

This Riad was our saving grace! The riad that had been booked 6 months before our trip cancelled the day before we were due to fly to Marrakech. Finding Riad Al kasr was a relief- Damien the owner agreed to fit us in even though it meant changing rooms in the middle of our stay. Taxis were arranged via the hotel. As soon as we arrived, Damien was super welcoming- he took the time to serve us tea and went through the map of the city with little handy hints and recommendations. The riad itself is very comfortable with spacious rooms, a plunge pool and an amazing roof terrace for the Marrakech sunsets Breakfast is ample. The riad is placed in a great location 10 min walk from the souks and round the corner from the Bahia Palace. There are many good restaurants within walking distance. The spa is also well priced and provides the added bonus of this facility within the riad. All in all, an amazing stay with special credit to Damien for the hospitality

This is a beautiful atmospheric old house. The personnel are almost all delightful to deal with. The rooms are quiet. The only downsides are how dark the rooms and common parts are and the bedrooms lack adequate ventilation. This may be inevitable in a building of this style. Otherwise we had a very good time here.

Beautiful building, nicely furnished. low number of guests made it feel very intimate, like somebody's house, felt very at home and relaxed by the end of the trip. Owner quite charismatic and helpful if a little overbearing at times. He did make me feel foolish and uncomfortable after I was talked into having a henna tattoo on the first night when rather tired and overwhelmed by the new experience of Marrakesh. Hot water wasn't always forthcoming. Other staff very friendly and helpful. Well place for travelling on foot to most areas.

Stayed at this Hotel & Spa located in old city of Medina for 9 days. I found the entire hotel staff to be very helpful and accommodating. The hotel provided many excursion options of which we used a few and enjoyed it. The Riad Al Ksar has foot access via a narrow alleyway is a pleasant and relaxing environment once inside. Hotel is a 10 room boutique hotel that offers a quite retreat for anyone wishing a calming getaway. Hotel staff is very helpful in providing information about the Median and surrounding area and has very reasonable rate for spa service. If you have any questions prior to or during your travel, just contact Riad Al Ksar for honest and reliable information. Fantastic staff the go beyond to make sure your holiday is enjoyable.

Staying in the City Centre was a bit of a SURPRISE and took some getting used to. Building all appear run down and at first glance the location and Exterior of the hotel were not great - NO signs and difficult to find. The Hotel was much better inside and the Staff are very helpful and friendly. Little surprised to find the staff all have multiple functions - BUT do them all well. If you have done your research on city and area then you will be pleased with the hotel. However if you are expecting 4* you will be disappointed

Had a 4 night stay at this exceptional Riad. The location is tucked away off the main road and is a 10 -15 minute walk to the main square. The Riad has everything you need for a comfortable stay, beautifully furnished rooms which are spotlessly clean and a nice plunge pool to cool off in. The roof terrace is a great spot to have an early evening glass of wine. The owners and staff are really friendly and do all they can to ensure a great stay. The breakfast is good and sets you up for the day. I have no hesitation in recommending the Riad Al Ksar and would stay here again when in Marrakesh.

Just got back from five days staying at Riad Al Ksar. It was a beautiful hotel in an excellent location for exploring the very heart of city life. This quiet and relaxing hotel provided a safe haven when at first the experience of Marrakech was overwhelming. We soon grew accustomed to the city, and this place provided an excellent base for exploring all around. It was very much in walking distance from a lot of the main sights and tourist attractions. The room itself was lovely, clean and with a very Moroccan feel. Breakfast was lovely, and the spa experience was very relaxing and enjoyable. Very friendly and helpful staff who can organise excursions and activities if required. The only downside would be if you were looking for a large swimming pool to swim in - the plunge pool is excellent for a refreshing dip but not big enough for swimming. However, this was not a problem for us as we wanted to spend more time outside the hotel. We both loved Marrakech and staying at this lovely hotel.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week in march 2015. We found the Riad to be lovely and relaxing. The Riad was very traditional and well set out, we especially liked the roof terrace. The room was quiet, clean and decorated in a traditional style. The Riad is in a very convenient location with in the medina, only a ten minute gentle stroll to the main square. The staff at the Riad were very friendly and professional offering plenty of knowledge about marrakesh. Whilst staying at the Riad we booked some day trips and made use of the spa facilities which were both well organised.

We had a very good time. After a guided tour of the city we were able to manage quite well. The raid was helpful with map and advice necessary for exploring & meals. The staff was friendly and courteous. We enjoyed the spa and would recommend that sirvice.

Very friendly and very helpful staff giving a warm welcome each day and ensuring all our needs were catered for. Taxi service to/from airport was arranged and ran smoothly with a friendly english-speaking driver. Food from a restricted menu was served promptly with good service. Marrakech itself was an experience. An assault on the senses but one not to be missed.

a calm oasis amidst the mayhem of the medina. I read many reviews before I went and they mostly mentioned the location (easy and safe walking distance to the square and the souks and just about everything else), and the very helpful, friendly staff. These reviews are spot on. With only a handful of rooms the staff are always on hand to give you their full attention. the rooms are cleaned and made daily. advice and recommendations on sights, food, trips, and anything else you may need are unbiased and independent. I am confused by the few negative reviews I have read but these generally seem to be about the cleanliness. It is worth mentioning that this is a Riad in the medina of Marrakech and not a 5* hotel in a European city. it is not sparkling clean (that would be impossible) however it is not unclean either. it is perhaps a bit dusty in places but then it is effectively in a desert. over all you get what you pay for - a lovely place to stay in the medina. if this isn't your cup of tea you can stay in some big complex outside the walls in the new town and get bused in to take some photos while on a guided tour or something. I for one wouldn't hesitate to stay at Al Ksar again.

I wouldn't describe the hotel or service as bad, but my friend and I had an unfortunate experience. We stayed for 3 nights and found that the service was great however the first time our room was cleaned I made the mistake of leaving money in there, some went missing. I had a headache the night before so knew the exact amount I had/ and 200 Dirhams had gone, We also found along the way prices changes and things were rounded up. As 2 girls staying there, we didn't feel safe this wasn't the hotels fault but stepping out to what was a dark alley and back streets until you saw a main road wasn't ideal. The inside of the accommodation was lovely, and its very unfortunate for the owner that money went missing, I didn't mention it to him as felt vulnerable, I wouldn't be rushing back to Marrakesh old town to stay!

I recently stayed at Riad Al Ksar & Spa for 5 days with 12 of my family members. The Riad looked exactly like the photos's online so that was the first box ticked. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times, and more than happy to arrange excursions for us. All the rooms were spacious enough with a good standard of cleanliness, one of my cousins had a few problems with air conditioning but the manager resolved this promptly. The location, is about 15 minutes walk from the main square and there is a palace (one of the tourist attractions) on route. The roof terrace was pleasant, very large, good views and comfy seating. Breakfast could have been more varied. Each morning consisted of pancakes, bread rolls, fresh jam and madeira cake. Fruit juice and water was strangely not complimentary as part of breakfast. Overall a happy experience.

We've just returned from a week at the Riad Al Ksar and Spa and would fully recommend it to anyone visiting Marrakech. The Riad has excellent staff and is light, cool, clean and in a good location. Abdul greeted us and talked to us about the area, giving us a map on which he highlighted places we might want to visit and the route to Jemaa El Fnar (the main square) which we used constantly throughout our holiday. The breakfast was fantastic and really set us up for the day. Every day we had watermelon, fresh yoghurt, jam and honey, a selection of pastries and good coffee - absolutely delicious! It is served from 8.30am until 10am, but on the day we went home we had to leave the hotel at 5am. Damien happily agreed to serve our breakfast at 4.30am - very much appreciated!

Very basic hotel. In middle of a tiny alley very difficult to find. Dodgy looking area. Staff helpful only on first night. Then didn't care as they started construction work. Not peaceful or relaxing. No pool. No water bottles in room as it did say on website. Same breakfast everyday and no choice. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

We had booked this hotel via this site because it had good reviews (4.3 out of 5) and as soon as we arrived we saw that the rooms had no air-conditioning which is a basic must at a city like Marrakech where temperatures rise up to 37 - 38 C The room had one single very very small window through which no air came and it smelled of humidity the towels were grey and smelled of humidity. Because we had arrived at midnight we stayed the first night but changed our hotel the next day...They didn’t even offer us a refund...Also we had asked the prices of daily tours and they had told us that it would cost 140-Euros for a private daily tour to Essaura but our second hotel informed us that it costs 80-Euros !!! Also we had arranged for airport transfer for our arrival through this hotel and paid 17-Euros but for our return when we arranged it through our second hotel they told us that it costs 10-Euros !!! So I would never ever stay in this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone !!!

We had a 2 night stay and compared to the stays we had had other other places around the country this was by far the worst. To be fair some of the problems were related to the fact that the hotel was undergoing repairs that were very noisy and intrusive. There was constant hammering during the day, for a period of tie the electricity was off and there as a constant bad smell of sewage in the stairwell. However the staff were extremely helpful and kind and that went a long way.

I enjoyed staying at the riad since I love a peaceful place right at the center of a busy medina. It gives you the break you really need after a busy day exploring the streets of Marrakesh :)

We went to the hotel ahead of scheduled stay only to learn that according to their records we had no reservation even though we had confirmation. They had no rooms available. Hard to judge the hotel because we didn't get to stay there but it appeared to be nice.

A wonderful riad experience which certainly lived up to expectations. We stayed for 7 nights in a superior double room, which benefited from a very comfortable four-poster bed. The room was a good size and very clean. However you will probably find most of your time being spent outside on their amazing roof terrace with views out across the city and Atlas Mountains beyond. We would recommend using the excusions offered at the riad to places outside of Marrakech as we received very good service on our trips to Essaouira and Ouarzazate (although be prepared for a long and winding drive out to the latter). The main square is around a 10 minute walk from the riad and we felt very safe walking to and from the square at night. We had most of our meals on the square, although when we returned from our day trips late in the evening the staff were more than happy to rustle up a simple dinner for us. As a tip, we would recommend trying Kosybar around 3-4 minutes from the riad which offers high quality international food (a welcome break from couscous and tagine!). Finally, the level of service offered by the two owners and their team was exceptional. They were polite, friendly and spoke excellent English. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and we would definitely visit again.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a superb stay at the Riad Al Ksar & Spa. We arrived having booked the airport transfer via the Riad which was brilliant as our friendly driver who was waiting for us on arrival helped us to the car with our bags and provided an informative drive to the Riad telling us with passion about the sigts of teh city that we passed. On arrival at our Riad, we were greeted by our friendly hosts at the Riad who provided an excellent introduction to the Riad and told us the Do'd and Dont's of Marrakech which proved very useful. We were then shown to our stunning room. We booked the Junior Suite, which was massive and beautiful. Such a peaceful stay. On our last night we ate at the Riad and the food was superb. Couldn't rate this place highly enough.

Great hotel in a very nice, clean and perfect location with very nice rooms and big garden where you can rest. I do think that compare to other hotels in the city center Hotel Al Ksar is the best in a very nice area where at the end of a busy day you can find some rest and feel like at home. The owner Olivier is very helpful and you can always ask questions re restaurants and places to see. I do recommend the Al Ksar for your holiday stay. Kate and Michel

I was very happy to stay at Riad Al Ksar. Marrakech is full of sounds and colors, but when you enter the Riad, it feels very peaceful and homely. Everybody from the staff was great, starting with Damien (one of the owners), who is always there for his guests. The food was delicious, like a real homemade food. I loved the view from the rooftop, overlooking the city and the Atlas mountains. The location was great, right next by the medina. It's really hard to find something, which I didn't like... If you choose Riad Al Ksar, you will experience that 'perfection' for yourself and you will feel happy - like me right now - that you made this choice.

A haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Riad is simply decorated and has plenty of space to relax. We loved having tea on the terrace and soaking up the sun. The food was delicious and always served with a smile. We loved it!

We had a very pleasant stay; room was tidy with a comfortable bed and a good pressure hot shower. Included breakfast was good and the owner was very helpful giving local tips to sights and restaurants. As with many riads this was a bit tricky to find at first so we would recommend asking the hotel to book a taxi when arriving unless you don't mind wandering around in the narrow streets a little.

We stayed at this riad for three nights and were very happy with the service. Olivier is a great host and did everything possible to accommodate our requests (no language barrier as he speaks english). The Riad is fairly easy to find (considering everything is difficult in Marrakech) and the location is great for sightseeing. We are very experienced travellers and for that reason usually have high expectations and this Riad had everything we needed, comfy beds, air-con, location, good shower, and cleaniness. I usually rely a lot on reviews when choosing my hotels and highly recommend this place.

This hotel was very clean and new. Staff were very friendly. It is very comfortable and modern. The location is also good, just a few minutes walk to the old city. It is, however, a bit difficult to find at first because it is located in the neighborhood of very tiny streets. Also, breakfast can be a bit better. Other than that it was a nice stay.

I originally booked this hotel for a 2-night stay, and ended up extending my stay for a full week. The owner and staff were extremely nice to work with, the rooms were large and comfortable, and the interior of the hotel was very well decorated, breezy, and relaxing. I would also highly recommend using their airport-to-hotel taxi transfer service instead of trying to find the hotel yourself using a normal taxi. One important thing to be aware of for any travellers new to Morocco and/or Marrakech: the riad/hotel is in an "interesting" location, and can be a bit worrying the first time you get there from the airport. The driver takes you down roads that most westerners would consider side roads or even alleys, and eventually you get stop and get out about 50 meters from the hotel. You then have to walk down a small dirt alley to get the riad itself, which can be a bit uncomfortable for newcomers (but only the first time). Don't let this stop you from booking a stay here, though. The alleys & roads are very typical for the old parts of Marrakech, and it is part of the charm of visiting. Just be aware of this before you arrive so you don't get too freaked out when you land. :) Finally, as of this review, they have an excellent cook and masseuse, so be sure to tell them in the morning if you want to get dinner and/or a spa treatment/massage in the evening.

If your looking for a place to stay in Marrakech - THIS IS IT! Hospitality, convenience, everything is perfect. 5 mins walk (and it really is 5 mins) from main sq. Raid had only been open for 3 months and we visited in Dec where the weather in Marrakech was ok. Breakfast was simple and nice. Had two evening dinners during our 5 night stay and my wife loved it. Damien and all are incredibly helpful. The pictures of the Raid dont do it justice. It is really nice. Look forward to my 2nd visit to Marrakech.
