We stayed two nights in the Khadija Room at La Maison Bleue Batha and absolutely loved it. The manager, Khalid, was so kind and welcoming, and really made our stay special. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious every morning — fresh, generous, and with plenty of options. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the Medina, making it easy to explore the city. A wonderful stay from start to finish!

The Staff Service is outstanding; the location is very convenient to the old Madina; the food, including the dinners and breakfast is very authentic Moroccan cuisine; the nightly entertainment is fun; if you know Arabic, you would appreciate the Songs and the skillful Oud instrument mastery! The Rooms were cleaned daily and the towels were replaced daily. It is a repeat hotel for our Stay in the future.

Staff very friendly. Location excellent. Nice sizeable room, with beautiful views.

Cons: Be careful when booking that you have the correct Maison Bleue, as one has a pool and the other hasn't, and they are in two different locations. The hotel directory is very out of date, so the prices quoted are not the same in reality.

Amazing old riad, very helpful staff. We were confused between this hotel and the other Riad Maison Bleue which is in a totally different class on the other side of town. We thought we'd booked the other riad and moved to it paying a supplement for two nights.

Cons: The Maison Bleue is an authentic house from the early 1900s. It maintains that style of decor which we found rather heavy and fusty. Little natural light. No bar but a drinks trolley service.

There is a lot of nice tile, the courtyard and room is very beautiful. The property is clean.

Cons: We stayed here two nights and had dinner. I never write bad reviews. As my grandma says if you don’t have anything nice to say then keep it to yourself. But Fes is so wonderful and folks come a long way to get here so they should have the opportunity to have the best experience. And this place is uniquely bad. The staff is totally checked out. No one wants to be bothered. Fantastically overpaid for a dinner. When asked about the wine waiter said it’s all Moroccan, it’s all good. When asked if he knew anything more or which one he could recommend, he flatly said no. When asked if anyone knows more because I was interested in Moroccan wine he laughed and said he knows the most. Food arrived. It’s mountains of something. A pile of couscous with a tiny bit of veal. A heap of grey/green peas and grey lamb tagine. It’s a single flavor and resembles slop. It’s $50/ person. There is no chef, no love, obviously but there are some cooks back there making sure to feed us, but nothing else. They are robbing you of the opportunity for a decent or maybe even great meal somewhere else. The room is full of tour groups with a guide. The guides get kickbacks. Im sure it looks great on the brochure, but the food is terrible and the service is worse. Mystery wine was $40. Wine was fine. Fes is really not that daunting, trust me you don’t need a guide. Your gps works. Music was great. So that’s was a bonus. When leaving we asked for a taxi. Reception told us to go outside and flag one. A bit exhausted from all the Medina haggling and begging I asked him if he could do it. He said he will just fight with them. Didn’t want to do it. I asked again he begrudgingly found a taxi but was very annoyed. Family got a weeks worth of laundry done. It was $125. Bottom line this place is terrible and you should not stay or eat here. There are much better options in fes which has delightful architecture and wonderful hospitality throughout. But just not here.

The breakfast is fairly simple containing a variety of bread, cake and pastry items alongside coffee (or tea if you ask). Fresh squeezed orange juice, meat slices (beef), yogurt, egg and cheese are also provided. Aziz patiently attended to special requests and was always very polite. I often asked for him to fill a thermos of hot water during my stay and he was always polite and accommodating.

Cons: The room we booked had a bath tub that did not work, which we absolutely required. We had to take a downgraded room without a patio in order to have a functioning bath tub. The room was supposed to have coffee /kettle facilities but none were available in room. This meant if you wanted coffee or tea in room you needed to go down to the restaurant to ask for it. Normally not a big issue but if you were on our original booked room there are seven levels of narrow winding stairs to navigate up and down. Be warned if you stay here you must be in decent shape to navigate the very narrow and steep stairs to all the rooms. And you may need to climb quite a few levels. The staff will handle your bags but it is hard on them also! The room also lacked disposable (or any) slippers which I consider absolutely mandatory for this type of establishment and price point. We luckily had some with us but they really should be provided in room as it is cool floors, and frankly the floors are old so they are perfectly clean. There is a A la carte menu in room but when we asked we can only order a set menu with very limited choices, for approx 40 euro per head. Upon looking at other guests plates we determined this was drastically overpriced especially compared to proper 5 star resort meals we had elsewhere in Morocco.

The riad is beautiful and the staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Breakfast every day was way more than we could eat and had a huge variety. We had dinner one night and the food was delicious and we had excellent service. Our room was huge and had a big bathroom. The location to the Souk was perfect, everything we did seemed to be no more than a 15 min walk.

Cons: There wasn’t anything we didn’t like but some things of note…there is not an elevator and the stairs are steep and narrow and the bathroom in our room was beautiful but you have to go down 5 tall stairs to access it.

Overall a very good stay. The place and the decor are dated a bit, but it is a historic building afterall. The whole hotel seemed pretty dead and quiet, possibly because we were there during low season? The food was delicious, both the included breakfast and the paid dinner--generous portion size. Excellent service. Staff were kind and helpful.

La Madison Bleue is a lovely place to stay in Fes--both of them. Confused? We were too when we arrived. There is a Maison Bleue Hotel and Maison Bleue Riad. They are affiliated but in different locations. It was an issue when we arrived because we were initially taken to the wrong site by our taxi. Once that was sorted, the bigger issue was learning the riad does not have a fitness room or pool, as promised on the website. The hotel has both and guests of the riad have access. The only challenge is getting from the riad to the hotel through the tangled alleys of the medina where 500 metres can get you lost for two hours. After the initial frustration, we settled in to the room. The building is beautiful, traditional Moroccan design. The rooms are large and there are tubs for soaking. The service is good and location relatively easy to access because it is near a landmark if the medina, the blue gate. The riad seems to be well known for its restaurant. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner including a chicken tajine, couscous royals and an orange cream dessert that was too large for two people but we finished every rich bit of it. Dinner service was excellent and the live musicians played beautifully. The hotel may have more amenities on site but the riad has a better location. With those factors in mind, make a choice between two good options. PS There are many stairs in narrow cases. If mobility is an issue, this may not be a good choice at all.

Late flight into Fes, but we were met by a shuttle. Given the late hour (12:30am), new city, big unknown, concierge waiting up for us, this was very welcome.

The hotel service was excellent the property is beautifully restored but the amenities in the room might need some upgrades to match other 5 stars hotels. The room is a little too dark compared to their second property outside of Medina which feels brighter and more modern.

It's on the small side which I like, a comfy boutique feel. Definitely old school interiors, all original as far as I can tell, dating from at least the turn of the century. A beautiful luxurious setting. However unlike many of the older Moroccan hotels, the bathroom, the air-conditioning and internet are all top notch. Probably my favorite of the 6-7 hotels I stayed during my tour in Morocco, some substantially more expensive than this one.
