This was not a 4 star hotel. No minibar in room, as advertised. There was an empty bar frig, not even water. There was no bar as advertised. Beer and wine in restaurant. Buffet dinner was horrible, because of that I didn’t eat breakfast or any other meal there. Many good restaurant choices within easy walking distance, which I strongly suggest. Service in dining room mediocre. Excellent proximity to 2 good museums. Walkable area. Front desk staff was very good. Mould in shower, the whole bathroom could have been cleaner. Water was hot and a/c good. Beds clean and comfortable. Would rate this 3 stars tops.

The proximity to two museums and cafe area was so convenient. There were several small shops so close where I could buy water and snacks. Great view of a minerat from the rooftop. Some adorable cats hanging around. I enjoyed my stay.

The front desk staff where very helpfull. But house keeping and kitchen staff need a lot of training to bing it to a suitable level. Seems that there is only on set of towels per room, they were taken at 10:00 each morning and returned at 4:00 in the afternoon.

The best thing about this hotel is the location - in the heart of Rabat. The rooms are very small, there is no luggage space. The drinks prices at the restaurant are cosmic - one 300 ml beer costs 7 euros. The atmosphere in the lobby is very pleasant with authentic Moroccan elements. Overall, I think a room in a much better hotel can be rented for this price.

Easy walking distance from Rabat Ville train station (approximately 15mins). Safe neighbourhood near official/government buildings with military presence over the road. Lovely roof terrace on the top floor overlooking the city. Air conditioned pleasant room with a fridge and TV. Wifi worked well. Early check in was permitted without being pre-requested. Breakfast buffet was great, lots of variety. Great value. Definitely recommend.

A nice hotel in general...friendly staff...the hotel is located in a very safe and calm area in the center of Rebat. A train station is 10 min walk from the hotel. Ideal for business stay or just for transit stay as well. I had breakfast there which was ok. The restaurant is nice and beautifully decorated. It has an authentic mood. The room is pleasant and clean

One elevator did not work so it was hard for a group to arrive with luggage at the rooms. The hotel apparently look ok but if you look for detail you will discover a lot of space for improvement (see the pictures). We found some garbage under our bed so the cleaning was just acceptable... At dinner, I found something good to eat and the servant was kind but at breakfast I was disappointed...

There are two different types of rooms in this hotel on every floor, the pictures posted here are only of the good kind. The bad ones are extremely bad with very old and broken A/C and spiders in the bathroom which has rusty fixtures. I couldn't believe I was at Helnan Chellah at first. I was given a bad room and I had to wait over 1.5 hours after a 20 hour flight to be moved in to one of the good rooms. They didn't believe me when I told them the A/C was not working and sent three people to check one after the other. No one speaks or understands any kind of English and plenty gets lost in translation. The rates are extremely high for the quality of service they provide - the food is extremely bad that you can't eat anything but fruit, yoghurt and croissants for breakfast. The orange juice they serve is sometimes stale. Lunch and dinner are terrible as well. Some of the dishes are good but some are worse and can get you sick. Check your cutlery before using them, they can be crusty sometimes. The only good things about this hotel are the public areas are clean and well decorated and the good rooms are clean. Some of the staff were polite and helpful but others were outright rude. TL:DR - Avoid this hotel. There are plenty of good hotels with comparable rates very close by.

This place is terrible in every way and absolutely not worth its outrageous rates. Upon our arrival after 20 hours of travel, it took the staff 1.5 hours to bring us towels. Our (Indian) travel companion had to relocate four times because every room they gave him had some defect, such as a broken air conditioning. Only when my (Caucasian!) husband accompanied him to Reception did they finally assign him a decent room. We received three different sets of written and verbal instructions for using our room safe which were all wrong; the staff spent half an hour trying literally dozens of emergency keys to open the locked safe to recover our belongings. On the day of our departure, before we had checked out, the cleaning staff entered our room early in the morning without knocking just as we were in the process of getting dressed. The dinner buffet is very expensive, with luke-warm food of poor quality, and the beer we ordered was warm. The breakfast buffet is constantly depleted due to the large number of bus tour guests, and the staff is incapable of keeping up with replenishing it. The hotel screwed up one of my reservations -- I had booked two nights and they had me logged for only one -- and it was fully booked for the second night. They never offered even so much as an apology, let alone any kind of compensation. Don't stay there! Rabat has other hotels nearby that are of far better quality and have comparable rates.

My stay at this hotel with my business colleagues from Canada was very disappointing. We had two reservations - first reservation was for 5 nights and the second for two nights with a gap of 4 days in between the two. During the first stay, I was given a room that was extremely disappointing. Each floor, I think, has two types of rooms, good and really bad. You are lucky if you get to stay at the good section of the floor. When I say the room was bad, I mean it was really really old with a really old A/C that was not working and horribly old bathroom fixtures with spiders and cobwebs. After complaining and posting a sad face on hotels.com, they moved me to the good section of the hotel. They didn't believe me when I said the A/C wasn't working or there were no towels and sent three people over a period of hour and a half to check what I just told them several times. The food is extremely bad. Don't even get me started on this. The toughest chicken I ever had in my life and the most disgusting noodles ever. The food has no taste and I am not even a foodie. You will find excellent options very close by. They charge a lot of money (25 MAD for a bottle of water while you can get the same bottle for 5 MAD right outside the hotel and 180 MAD for a buffet lunch with awful choices. They charged me 300 MAD for a taxi to the airport while by law, it is 250 MAD. No one speaks or understands English and a lot gets lost in translation. They are in the money grabbing business.

The Hotel was overall in great conditions, clean, room was perfectly clean, no smells, bathroom was very clean, staff was welcoming and smiling(no Fluent English speaking staff/ only French and Moroccan Arabic dialect(Darija). Disappointed with the directions and/or visibility of the property, we spent almost a hour to find the Hotel, and we are very familiar with Rabat area, The most disappointed point at our stay was the "Continental Breakfast" really, were not... breakfast was salad(lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber..etc, boil eggs, very wet running scramble eggs, coffee, liptpn tea(come on in Morocco where is well know for tea drinking country), coffee, bread, no cheesse, juices or other options.

Having stayed at this hotel for 2 nights i would never stay here again the rooms are not that clean for a 4 star hotel and the views you have are looking into someone else's house. The Staff were very very unfriendly especially the waiting staff in the restaurant and breakfast area where they were not dressed properly and spend more time on their phones than helping people and the manageress of the restaurant ( don't know how she got that job) i asked her for orange juice for breakfast said there was none and walked away laughing and talking to other staff and left me standing there very unprofessional. The front staff were really nice but its not that often you deal with them. The hotel is very dated and old and you notice this when you enter the hotel reception area all the way to your room they have a bar but its closed down (nothing new there) This hotel was over £50 per night it is not worth the money this hotel should be re classed as a 2 star hotel not a 4 star.

This hotel has obviously its glorious days behind it; but it's relatively cheaper than competition and has apprently found its marketting strategy for bringing new customers (lots of asian, african tourists!); they are also working on refurbishing rooms (I explicitely asked for one!)This is all Great. This is all great, as long as they manage to keep up the quality of service. I noticed for instance that staff were completely challenged serving breakfast during a rush time - a few dozens chinese tourists + others..- Well, my advise to hotel management: if you go that way, bring in some professional help to strengthen service quality... Overall good value for €!

We were part of a tour. We had a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the entrance. The hotel is a bit dated. Our room had 2 single beds, a very small table and chair and a table along the wall. The telephone in the room was not working, luckily the one in the toilet worked. TV was mounted on the wall and only offered 2 English channels. Wi-Fi was virtually non existent in the room and only available in the lobby sitting area and even then was not really reliable. It had a mini fridge that was empty. There was a safe and air conditioning available. There was no coffee machine. The toilet area was small. Toilet amenities were available as was a hairdryer. Supper was a buffet that consisted of a choice of pasta (could have been a little warmer), chicken in a sauce, fish in a tomato sauce, roasted potatoes, and rice. There was a salad bar, sardines and boiled eggs. Dessert was watermelon, bread pudding cake, chocolate type cake. Local beer (Casablanca) was good and cost 60 dirhams. For Breakfast, they had boiled and scrambled eggs (were quite runny), 2 green & red pepper dishes, French bread and croissants (plain and with chocolate), coffee & tea and juices and some cold cuts. No fruit or yogurt. Not too impressive!!

If I'd describe it in 3 words: noisy, cold and old. Looks good once you get into the lobby/reception area, once you go into the room it's like you go in the '50s, not in a good way though, everything is old and squeaky, any door you touch makes a terrible noise. All rooms doors make a very loud noise, that loud that you can't sleep, you hear everyone coming in and out late at night or early morning, if you want to sleep a little longer past 7 am, forget about it, to top it all off, past 2 days of my stay, they were drilling at 8 am into the walls of some rooms around mine. Cold at night too this time of the year, no heating. This hotel would've been great at some point in its history, but is in need of desperate renovations asap, at least start by oiling those doors first and have a little respect with maintenance work until past 10 am.

I had made the reservation online, specifying we needed 1 room for 3 people. Upon arrival, we were told there wasn't a room available for 3 people at that time. When I showed them the reservation confirmation, they did accommodate us in a nice room that was spacious enough. The view was of an apartment complex (in the back), which naturally had laundry hanging out. This isn't something we see in the states, but it is common in some European and African countries. We were flying out the following morning, early, so asked for a wake-up call and a taxi. The wake-up call didn't happen, but they did call when the taxi arrived. Thankfully the taxi arrived 10 minutes early and my sister had awakened about 5 minutes prior to that, so we were OK. A young woman at the front desk wasn't that friendly, and I don't think it was a difference in continents as we hadn't experienced that impatient attitude anywhere else in Morocco. The hotel seemed to be in a business district so we were limited to finding a place to eat nearby and the hotel's buffet in the dining room was outrageously priced given what we had paid for meals everywhere else. It did look good though! If we had been staying more than one night in Rabat, we would have checked out and gone elsewhere. The hotel itself was nice though, but again, it seemed to be more of a business hotel than family.

The hotel is over priced for what it has to offer, its dated and in need for refurb. Hotel facilities shown in photos are just not there and breakfast is limited, choice same every day...service not that good either although there was an attempt to be helpful. price range is around 50 euro but should be not more than 30 at the present offering. Location is very good though as central.

It was a bad experience in many ways. No air conditioning in a hot city like Rabat made life miserable. The internet never worked in the room and was not great in the lobby. To be fair, we spent 1 night here, arriving late and leaving early. My son spent an extra day but was ill so he didn't really leave the room. The service at the front desk is exceptional. They were efficient, kind, pleasant and very helpful. The rooms and hallways are run down with worn carpets, old drapes and dingy furniture. The beds and pillows were okay for sleeping, nothing special. The rooms were clean and there was plenty of hot water (woot woot!). The front lobby was a bit fancy looking so maybe they've started renovations but haven't made it to the rest of the hotel yet. I'm not sure I'd stay again or not. The price was on the high side ($150) but I booked on expedia the day we were arriving so maybe we could have gotten a better price ($no more than $75) if we had booked in advance. The service at the front desk made the stay worthwhile, but I was a bit put off by the dingy interior.

Clean and friendly hotel in the heart of the administrative district of Rabat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only negatives are slight. Helnan Chellah is a decent option--on a quiet street not far from the train station. Showing its age a bit, but the buffet dinner is a great price and excellent food.

Clean and well maintained, though showing it's age a bit. The dinner buffet is an excellent value and quality, and front desk and waitstaff are extremely helpful. Good internet, pretty good location.
