Charming riad in the old city. Gorgeous courtyard and rooftop patio, breakfasts are excellent, and we had a delicious tajine dinner one night (order ahead). The staff are friendly and helpful. Close walk to Cité portugaise and souk. Area is not touristy so you will have a local experience. Highly recommended.

This African inspired hotel provided a nice stay. The suite we got was big and designed as a clay clad African hut. Very charming. The water in the shower had to be pre-heated which stole a couple of minutes before the shower but otherwise the room was great. They have spa treatments which we tried and they were equally good. Dinner was good and the dining room is nice. You can get rather close with a car here (50-100m) but it is still a bit tricky to find the entrance. The area around is not a tourist area and we got quite looked at when we walked around. But I think I'd like to stay here again if passing by El Jadida.

Pleasant riad with helpful staff. About a 10 minute walk to the historical ramparts. Portugese Cistern is closed for repairs. About 1/2 hour walk to area with choices of restaurants. Area around the riad was not a touristed area at all. We stopped in El Jadida en route to Casablanca instead of returning to Marrakech from Essaouira, and travelling to Casablanca from Marrakech. However, in hindsight that might have been a better option.

The riad is a peaceful space, with welcoming staff and beautiful rooms. My outstanding critique is that the water pressure in the bathroom was relatively weak and inconsistent; there was also a part of one day that the bath faucet seemed to run out, and the toilet would not flush. Otherwise, things seemed in order, and we appreciated the kindness of the service. Thank you for a memorable stay.

This Riad is a delightful place to stay. It is not in the old part of the town and, from the outside, looks quite ordinary. It is approached down a narrow alley, through a small traditional doorway, and suddenly you are inside an oasis of tranquilly and charm. There are trees in the large, cool, central courtyard which is beautifully decorated. The rooms are on the first and second floors and are also delightfully decorated. Because there were no suitable restaurants nearby we decided to eat in the Riad. It was a good choice. The food was excellent and they easily coped with the fact that half our party were vegetarian and one gluten intolerant. It is a delightful place to stay.

The hotel itself was clean and well kept with a few areas requiring maintenance shower controls were problematic with not being able to get a constant temperature staff were friendly and food was average with not much in the way of vegetables with each meal, if given the choice next time I would not stay at this hotel.

The riad itself beautiful, with a gorgeous garden and terrace, it looks dated and in dire need of a touch up. The room was spacious but wasn’t as clean as we would have expected. Unfortunately, upon arrival the hotel manager / front desk lady didn’t greet us with much enthusiasm or warm hospitality. No information was provided for our stay, and when asked about recommendations, she responded with indifference. The same cannot be said about the other hotel staff however, both the porter (Rashid) and the breakfast lady were both hospitable and friendly.

Beautiful riad. Outstanding service. Delicious food. Great massage services. What more can one want? The riad has a large and beautifully manicured courtyard. The room and bathroom were nice and had all the amenities one might need. Nicely decorated. But nothing out of the ordinary. I had dinner at the riad. Their lamb tajine was one of the most delicious tajines I had while in Morocco. Their breakfast was a typical Moroccan spread. The location was walking distance to all the sites to see in El Jadida. There was no parking on the rather narrow street. They had parking available at a site nearby. Although, with the winding alleys to get there, even though the distance from the riad was short, I kept getting lost. That is not common for me.

This review is only the impression of the place, since we chose not to stay there, even though we prepaid, and requested a refund which was totally ignored. The neighborhood is awful, we felt when we arrived that it was nor safe. The "suite" which we booked was really just a room with a bed with a mattress which sagged as we sat on it to test it. The bathroom was not clean. the reception was not welcoming. We arrived with a guide, and even though we speak French, we were ignored while the woman chose to speak Arabic to our guide. In all our travels , we had never been treated as non existed.

The place is beautiful in terms of architecture and decoration. It is centrally located and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. It is just a bit noisy at night due to a nearby mosque making religious calls.

This property was so calm and quiet that it felt like a sanctuary. We were truly able to relax and just enjoy our very short time in El jadida but the riad made the trip excellent. Breakfast is very delicious here and they make an omlette! As an aside, most of the staff we encountered spoke primarily in french.

Because of review was expecting the wow factor. We chose this because it said they speak English and help you with tourist guides etc. In fact nobody spoke any English therefore we couldn't answer any questions. There was 1 guy there who was very helpful. He was the one we saw doing all the maintenance and cleaning communal areas. Helped us with luggage and parking. This is NOT an easy place to find. But the locals know where you are looking for and point you in the right direction. NO TOWELS!!!! NONE!!! And NO HOT WATER. Well to be honest there was hardly any cold either. It was a mere trickle!!! Maybe that's why no towels as they don't expect you to shower! ! Booked a massage for 30 minutes. She was 20 minutes late and ot was a very rushed 25 minute massage. Not at all relaxing. No pr8vacy. Made me strip off in front of her and the curtains were open. Could hear guests outside in courtyard. Also her phone kept beeping messages. Further out from souks than expected. Unfortunately wouldn't stay again. No bottled water in room even though stays will be VERY NOISY. No key to front door so ring bell to get in. At all hours!!! 11pm. Midnight. 1am. Then the prayer siren 5am and 7am. Needless to say very little sleep either.

Unfortunately I had only one night here. It is beautiful, quiet, and relaxing. It is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the larger, more popular imperial cities. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. Great attention to detail. Even the bathroom towels are divine. One of the best places I encountered during my 15-day Moroccan tour. You are within walking distance of the old Portuguese town and souks. I chose to eat dinner in the town, and I left before sunrise the next morning. So I did not experience dining inside the riad. I had an adventurous, fast-paced vacation itinerary. I purposefully planned the last 2-3 days to be slower paced with time for rest and recovery. Knowing what I know now, I would have spent an extra day at Soliel for R&R.

The Riad is a true oasis in the middle of the El Jadida medina. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and comfortable, with air conditioning and fast and reliable wi-fi access. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious, with freshly baked m'smen, a typical Moroccan bread. I had dinner twice, and the food was delicious. One of the times, they served me a lamb tagine which was divine. All the staff is friendly and helpful. The owners, a very affable couple, are always attentive to guests' needs without being a nuisance. The interior courtyard, with a fig tree, two palm trees, and a small fountain in the middle, has several tables and is a great place, sheltered from the heat and wind, to sit and work. It is also where breakfast and dinner are served. A terrace equipped with sun loungers makes it possible to sunbathe in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. I loved it.

Stayed for a couple nights after a three week non stop travel through Morocco. Was exactly what I needed to relax. Riad was beautiful, room was excellent and service and meals were top notch. The beach, Portugeuse city and cistern are a ten minute walk. The owner happened to be there and arranged a private vehicle to pick me up to take me to Casablanca on my last day. Can’t say enough. Would definitely recommend. Will definitely come back. Merci beaucoup!

If this Riad were in France, people would be coming to it just for the evening meal. Other guests had already said to us “Just wait until you taste the cooking”. Our anticipation increased when we read (roughly translated) “Dinner available by reservation only: menu made with fresh ingredients bought from the market on the day”. This is normally a very good sign; we were not disappointed. There must be a chef of genius in the kitchen; no choice, just (just!) starter, main course and dessert representing the fusion of the best of French cuisine with the best & freshest of Moroccan ingredients. Lonely Planet guidebooks are rather dismissive of El Jadida suggesting doing the sights in an hour or two and the moving on. We combined the sights with an overnight stay at Riad Soleil d’Orient and benefitted not just from delicious French cuisine but also from the care and thoughtfulness with which Mme Laurence has carried out her vision for the riad: the bright courtyard with a fountain & a fig tree, the upstairs dining room with an open log fire, the 1st floor sitting room with books, chess set, dominos, playing cards, CDs & player. Our (marble floored) room showed the same care: heaters in case the Atlantic winds blew at the town, a large shower with plentiful (solar powered) hot water and the generous provision of not merely shower gel and shampoo but also conditioner, cleanser & cotton wool pads and body lotion. Special mention must be made of the friendly and helpful staff; in particular Abdou who kindly walked us to the Portuguese fort & port (but, yes, the Riad provides a handy map) and later, in a smart uniform, served the delicious dinner, and finally helped us with our bags the next morning. Incidentally Riad Soleil d’Orient is the first riad we have found where you can actually drive up to the entrance. El Jadida was not - at least when we visited it - a prepossessing town, but it has the potential to develop into a resort. Riad Soleil d’Orient is ahead of the curve.

I cannot say enough good things about this lovely place in El Jadida. If you ever visit this lovely city YOU MUST STAY THERE as it is perfect. The staff is extraordinarily sweet and friendly, the rooms are very nicely decorated and very clean, the style of this lovely Riad is out-of-this-world-beautiful, the food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious, the breakfast is a dream come true, I have no words for our stay there. We parked our car in front of the historical medina and walked the short way (no problem at all), the team welcomed us with fresh minth tea and chocolate cake. We highly recommend this place.

Beautiful riad with friendly, hospitable staff. The patio is a serene oasis where you can sit and sip mint tea and just soak in the atmosphere. The rooms are all styled uniquely and are sophisticated and tasteful. Amenities are fully provided. You could really just spend the entire day within the riad, would totally recommend it.

this is a lovely property. We enjoyed everything about it. The staff was very pleasant, the service was great. Our room was lovely. It could have done with some more light. It was hard to see to read. The breakfast was very good--but most Moroccan breakfasts are quite similar. the staff kindly showed us how to get to where we wanted to go.

The hospitality and service from everyone was exceptional. Food was delicious. Had a relaxing end to our 2-week holiday throughout Morocco. If arriving by car, a tip is to just pull up to the Riad and then they will assist in showing you the best parking location. The only thing to be aware of...the dinner prices were a bit higher than we experienced during our previous 2-weeks throughout Morocco; but still a lovely splurge and we really enjoyed our dinner. We especially enjoyed the games area with comfortable seating.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Riad Soleil d’Orient. Although we could not drive to the door, the staff were very helpful in ferrying our luggage and directing us to a safe parking area that had an informal attendant. This incurred a modest charge Our room was magnificent; it was spacious, bathroom was great with a rain shower. We had dinner at the Riad and it was top notch. Dining area was most pleasant. Breakfast was excellent Parking was difficult but to be expected in a Riad in the heart of the Médina. The highlight of our stay was the friendly and helpful staff. Although there was a language barrier, their patience and willingness to help overcame this obstacle Top marks

The riad was very nice and the staff amazing. There were not many other people staying there when we were, so not sure how the experience would change when occupancy is higher. However, the staff bent over backwards to make sure we were taken care of throughout the stay. Our only issue was the loud speaker next door for the mosque, which was exceptionally loud at all hours. I realize the riad can't change this, but future guests should be aware (early and late hour calls to prayer, that are very loud).

The Riad is well managed. The room is very comfortable. The breakfast on the roof was great and it was the best of the three Riads we stayed in during our six days visit to Casablanca, Marrakesh and El Jadida. The manager and staff are very helpful and friendly. Overall it was a positive experience.

When we booked our stay at Riad Soleil d'orient in El Jadida, we THOUGHT it was in Casablanca, but soon found out that it was a little over an hour away! Being adventurous, we decided to keep our reservation, and boy, were we GLAD that we did, as opposed to staying in Casablanca! Riad Soleil was just what we needed to begin our wonderful experience in Morocco. The owner, Olivier, was very welcoming and friendly, and although we didn't speak much French, and he didn't speak much English, we made it work, and had a great time there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The riad itself is stunning with its garden and individually themed guest rooms. Also loved the roof terrace. Breakfast was sumptuous and delicious, as was dinner. The calls to prayer from the nearby mosque were spiritual, calming, and interesting, even though they woke me up early in the morning, but that is a part of being in an Islamic country. I'm Christian, but was uplifted and inspired by the importance that prayer has in the daily lives of Moroccans.

The entry to this beautiful retreat is like a doorway to tranquility. Some of the trees in the courtyard are fruit bearing - a fig dropped after breakfast one morning and was presented to us washed on a plate and ready to enjoy. The meals are beautifully presented, full of flavor, aromas and imagination. Relaxing on the roof with Georges, the house dog, reading, thinking and listening to the calls to prayer waft across the city helped settle my mind and prepare me for the rest of my visit to Morocco. I left with nothing but moments to smile about.

zeer aangenaam klein hotel.
