Easily the most beautiful, romantic, antique-filled riad or hotel we have stayed at in our 3-week journey through Morocco. We also had the pleasure of getting to know the husband and wife owners who tastefully renovated the 400+ year old building to its picturesque state and treat their guests like family.

I don't give out many 10s, but this place deserves it. Alex and Yasmin run a top notch service, gorgeous Riad. The arranged dinner on arrival is well worth it, probably one of the better meals we had in Fes and the breakfast was also quite delicious. The also arranged private your guide Aziz lasted 7 hours through the Medina and he was such a patient, knowledgeable, and helpful guide. Everyone who works there is so helpful and friendly. Do not hesitate to book here!

An exceptional stay from start to finish. The hosts are wonderful, warm, and truly go above and beyond – they even arranged a great guide to explore the city. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent, with plenty of attention to detail. The staff is attentive without ever being intrusive. Perfectly located in the Medina yet easy to reach, this riad is a true gem.

Our stay at Riad Le Calife was exceptional! The property and the staff have all carefully curated this magical dream where every sense, smell, taste, look etc are thought of. The place is gorgeous, quiet, comfortable. The rooms are clean, beautiful and quiet. I slept like a baby. You feel like royalty coming here without paying a royal price. The food is exceptional, so good we decided to only eat Fatima's dinners each night we stayed here. To Jasmine, Alex, Said and all the staff, thank you for a magical time, we will never forget it.

A very elegant and quiet riad, with gorgeous views towards the city from the restaurant / rooftop. It's very close to the entrance of the Fez Medina. We tried the dinner option and loved it. Alex and his wife were very nice welcoming us and telling us a bit if the history of the place and giving us different tips for the city.
Cons: Nothing to complain about

I really have no idea where to start. We arrived at the train station and were picked up by our driver who was arranged by the riad. Once we arrived we were welcomed by Yasmine the Riad owner and was given a thorough description of fes and what to expect from it, places to go see, eat, shop from etc. We found this something very thoughtful of her as a first time tourist to fes you really have no idea where to go and what places are worth visiting except when recommended by people living in the city. We were given a full tour of the Riad, which was really something else, it's like coming out straight from a movie scene. Our room was located on the roof which gives you a breathtaking view once you go up and its the place where you usually have your breakfast or dinner served by moniem or mohamed both the sweetest staff ever. Our room was big in comparison with all the riads we've stayed in, in morocco. The room has a colorful glass doors where when the sun hits at the morning or at the sunset makes such a beautiful reflection inside the room. The day we arrived we asked to dine in and you usually need to ask before hand if you want any special dishes as they are freshly made by their in house cook, and let me tell you it was a one unforgettable experience. The next we arranged through the riad to be picked up with a tour guide to have tour and you can pretty much customize the whole day and what you want to see, where you want to go, but if you'ld like an exceptional tour ask for Samia, she will definitely make your day. Alex the owner of Riad le Calife where also delighted to sit and speak with us about his experience in fes and the full background of how he came up with the design of Riad Le Calife and his devotion for antique collection that will be shown in every space, room of the Riad.

Beautiful riad, tucked away in a side street. Slightly steep walk but fairly short from Cinema Amal (5 minutes). Very tastefully done, great attention to detail. Friendly staff, helpful with recommendations for places to visit and where to eat. Fabulous views from rooftop, enjoyed evening sitting out. Would highly recommend, great value for money. Would love to return one day. Only feedback would be re breakfast. More choice needed eg with fruits and types of omelette and also bakery selection. A selection to self-serve would work well in the lovely rooftop restaurant.

We had such a memorable stay at Riad La Calife. It’s one of those places that instantly feels special — full of charm, history, and warmth. Every detail is beautiful, from the colorful tiles and carved cedar doors to the stained glass windows and peaceful fountain. You can really tell how much thought and care has gone into creating this place. What made it even more special was meeting Alex and Jasmine. Alex used to be a location scout in France and somehow ended up in Fes after meeting Jasmine — and together they’ve created something truly unique. Their story adds so much heart to the Riad, and it was a pleasure to hear it from them in person. The breakfast was amazing — fresh, generous, and served in the loveliest setting. Honestly some of the best we had on the whole trip. The whole team working at the Riad was fantastic too. So kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They even offered to post our postcards for us, which was just one of many thoughtful touches. We’re really grateful we found this place. It felt like more than just a stay — it was an experience. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Fes.

Alex, Jasmine, Moumain and the whole riad team are excellent hosts and we had a very enjoyable stay. Situated at the edge of the Fes Medina, Riad le Calife is conveniently located for walks, tours, restaurants, and city access. The Riad is beautifully restored and decorated with a real collectors and designer's' eye that evokes the golden age of that ancient city..

First, the place is absolutely gorgeous… Like a serene palace. Secondly, the staff and owners are beyond gracious… There to help you at almost every turn. We got great recommendations about what to do, where to shop, where to eat… You name it! It is also really lovely to have a place that has a bar emits the usual sans alcohol in the medina. There really isn’t anything not to like!

It seems all the Riad‘s in Morocco are difficult to find and you cannot get dropped off at the door. So for the first time you need someone to show you the way. After that, it’s a piece of cake. This place was no exception in that I needed help finding it But for two dollars they helped me and also carried the luggage.

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful riad. Alex welcomed us with great energy and gave us a wonderful introduction to the city — we ended up loving it thanks to him. Yasmin was always kind and helpful, and their recommendations were spot-on. And although Bimba wasn’t always around, whenever she was, she brought such warmth and joy that we jokingly agreed she might be the real host of the riad. The staff were all very friendly, and the location was perfect — easy to find. The riad was beautifully decorated and had a very peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. I was traveling with my mother, and she also had a great time. Highly recommended!

The place was exceptional! Great location, very comfortable bed in beautifully decorated room with a lot of attention to details in every corner. The property was quiet and serene which was such a nice change from the hustle bustle of the medina. It was easy to find as it's close to a main road, an important point as the medina is not easy to navigate. The bar takes you back to 1920's with the music and ambiance to match. The hosts, Alex and Jasmine, were very hospitable and make us felt very welcome! The staff were all very graciously helpful. Had a meal there one night and the food was excellent, make sure you eat at least once at the property as the chef made excellent home cook meals which you won't get at restaurants. Will definitely go back to stay in the future, even just to relax in the beautiful courtyard and rooftop.

The owners, Yasmine and Alex, are exceptionally friendly and helpful.. and enthusiastic!! The riad is beautiful and full of fascinating artefacts and pictures. The staff are very friendly and kind; going out of their way to look after the guests. The location is great. In the heart of the Medina but quiet, not touristy and with fabulous views from the roof terrace.
Cons: I misunderstood the booking.com description of the room we chose. It said that the floor to ceiling windows opened onto a patio. I thought it had direct outdoor space but it meant overlooking the central atrium. My mistake and there was nothing to dislike! Even apples each day in our room.. my favourite fruit. 😁

I can’t say enough about Riad Le Calife—it is, without a doubt, the best place to stay in Morocco. This Riad is a true gem, owned by unique and authentic people who are a rare find in today’s world. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into a breathtaking palace filled with charm, history, and unparalleled beauty. The Riad itself is the most stunning place you will find in Morocco. Each room is uniquely designed with exquisite attention to detail, showcasing the owners’ amazing taste in antiques and decor. You can feel the passion and love they’ve poured into every corner of this magical place. The food is another highlight—prepared from scratch, every meal was absolutely delicious and unforgettable. But what truly sets Riad Le Calife apart is the exceptional hospitality. When my daughter arrived late due to an airline issue and her luggage was lost, Yasmine went above and beyond to track it down, arrange a driver to Casablanca, and ensure my daughter was brought safely to the hotel. This level of care and dedication is unmatched. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the old city of Fez, which I found far more captivating than Marrakech. The hosts’ recommendations for restaurants, sights, and guides were all 5-star, and if you’re looking for an amazing trip, let them organize it for you—they know the best of everything. If I return to Morocco, Riad Le Calife will be my first stop, and I’ll stay for a minimum of 3-5 days. This is not just a place to stay; it’s an experience that will leave you in awe. If you’re looking for authenticity, beauty, and heartfelt hospitality, look no further

Never in my life have I stayed somewhere where the staff were so genuine, caring, welcoming, and knowledgeable. No request was too difficult, and each and every staff member went above and beyond in trying to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. There are no words to capture the exquisite and charming interiors, which represent the very best of traditional Moroccan riad architecture. The food was absolutely superb and the views from the restaurant over the Fed Medina are stunning. Staying at Riad Le Calife was truly the highlight of our trip to Morocco and we cannot thank Alex and Yasmine enough for their warm hospitality. We left Fes with fond memories that will stay with us forever, and we certainly hope to return very soon!

Decorated with exquisite refinement, this magnificent riad transports you to another era as soon as you step through its entrance. Its ideal location allows you easily to explore the Medina while enjoying a peaceful atmosphere in the evenings. Alex and Yasmine welcomed us as if we were part of their family. Although Parisian 😉, Alex is passionate about this country with its thousand colors and flavors, as well as Moroccan traditions and people, and he was able to convey this love to us; his recommendations on places to visit were more than helpful and inspiring. As for Yasmine, with her natural grace and nobility, she organized every detail of our short stay with great care and allowed us not to worry about anything. The staff, like the owners, are smiling, professional and very helpful. Our stay was exceptional, but too short. We will surely come back.

Alex and Yasmine have created an oasis of a place in the Fes Medina. Pictures don't do the place justice - the moment you turn into the entrance of the Riad you get transported to something magical! Every detail was clearly chosen with a keen eye for interior design and decor. Food cooked by Fatima was top-tier, and Mohamed was instrumental in making everything go so smoothly daily, his kindness will be remembered. Besides decor, incredible service and huge rooms I want to note just a few more from the top of my head: 1) Alex is a star (!) for organizing so many things for us, including an amazing private tour of the Medina - a must! 2) Talking with some other tourists I realized our hotel is one of the few in the Medina serving alcohol- and with a super speakeasy style bar to boot 3) There is a terrace with a gorgeous Medina view that is hard to beat anywhere else in the city Overall, this is absolutely a top pick in Fes. Book it with no qualms.

Yasmine, Alex and the Team at Riad Le Calife could not have done any more to have made our stay in Fes any better. The Riad location is great, being a short walk from the main shopping medina and tucked away from the hustle and bustle creating a quiet oasis. The Riad is beautifully decorated and the staff friendly and attentive. From the moment of booking Yasmine responded promptly with any questions and couldn’t have helped us any more than she did during our stay, from booking airport transfers to suggesting routes and places to visit and her staff then making sure we were safely picked up by taxi or a dedicated driver. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Riad as a must stay location if visiting Fes. This is, hands down, one of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed…period. The attention to detail in both the presentation and decoration of Riad Le Calife is beyond 5 star reviews. What Yasmine & Alex have created is an incredible oasis of comfort and serenity. It oozes tons of charm and sophistication at every turn. The rooftop views are incredible. The courtyard is beautiful. The bar was so cinematic that it felt like The Continental in a John Wick movie. The dining room views overlooking the Medina are stunning. The staff is amazing: Mohammed. Saida. Fatima. Said. They went above and beyond in order to create an incredibly welcoming environment from the moment we stepped out of our taxi and walked into the courtyard. They made us feel at home immediately. I can’t say enough about how absolutely wonderful our experience was staying here. It was hard to leave. Big thanks again to Yasmine and Alex!

Years of practice makes it perfect! This is exactly how I would describe Alex&Yasmine’s beautiful Riad. The wonderful owners, the professional and super friendly staff, the care for their guests was an amazing experience. During our trip in Morocco this was the only accommodation that truly went beyond our expectations. I am happy to say that we went there as strangers and left as friends. You will feel very welcomed there! The location is ideal! The room was very clean, tastefully decorated, a lot of amenities at your disposal, very beautiful view of the courtyard, very quiet, extremely comfortable bed, the attention to small details. The food in their own Riad is definitely worth trying along with a breathtaking Rooftop view of the Medina while you enjoy a most delicious moroccan Tea. I would wholeheartedly recommend it!! Thank you Alex and Yasmine! Hope to see you soon again!

It's hard to put into words the exceptional hospitality and care that Alex (Ali) and his staff gave us on our stay at Le Calife. I came to Morocco for the first time, with my mother, who was nervous about visiting a new culture. By the end, we left with hugs and felt sad to leave such a warm and caring hospitality. The Riad itself is beautifully decorated with special touches to the history and culture of Fes. The decor of the bar and lounge is like stepping onto the set of Laurence of Arabia. I stayed in the Emerald suite and I can't wait to share the photos to friends and family, it was breathtaking. Alex couldn't do enough to ensure that my mum felt comfortable. He answered my endless questions with passion and love for the city he calls home. The staff are dressed in traditional attire which matches their gentle politeness and Morricone smiles. I can't recommend this Riad enough. If you want a truly authentic experience (Alex is French but even though I'm British we got on ;) then stop looking at other places. I've worked in luxury hotels and this would certainly feature in a Michelin guide as 'highly recommended'. You'll find a new place to call home. Thanks for your professionalism and heartfelt passion to make our stay unforgettable.
Cons: The dinner was good enough (nice homely cooking) when we wanted to stay in, but if you want to go out and have a more gastronomic experience speak to Alex and ask about their sister hotel for dinner.

I wish I could give this stay an 11/10!!!! It would be a shame for anyone to visit Fes and not stay experience the beauty and hospitality of Riad El Calife. This was beyond just accommodation - truly the most beautiful riad I have ever stayed in not just because of how stunning the property was (the design, the styling, the ambience) but for the most impeccable, warm service we received. I will absolutely stay here again when we return to Fes and refuse to go anywhere else! The location: fantastic location just outside the old Medina. Walking distance from the main attractions in the old city. Highly recommend taking a half day walking tour with one of the guides arranged by Yasmine - this was the best tour we had during our stay in Morocco! The property: beautiful interiors, gorgeous spacious open air courtyard - an absolute oasis and peaceful escape from the outside world. The roof terrace also has a fantastic view over the old Medina. The rooms: apart from being styled so wonderfully the room had everything we needed - i cannot fault anything. Perfectly clean on arrival and well serviced daily. The bed and pillow was so comfy, we slept super well. The food: breakfast was great - traditional Moroccan spread with eggs of your choosing which were delicious. I highly recommend dining here for dinner as well - Fatima’s traditional cooking was so hearty and tasty. I will be dreaming of that meal for a while! The staff: a testament to the wonderful owners of this property, the staff were so incredibly helpful and kind throughout our stay. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure we were well looked after and no ask was too big for them. The owner: Yasmine is one of the warmest and kindest people we have been lucky enough to meet during our whole time in Morocco. She immediately made us feel at home, like family.
Cons: Nothing to fault - absolutely flawless.

A romantic bolt hole 5 minutes into the Medina. Such careful throughly superb decoration and mood setting of the public rooms around the water fountain. The roof offered a perfect spot overlooking Fes to sit and enjoy watching the sun going down. Fabulous food served in the restaurant. Our hosts were lovely and provided ideas and suggestions to aid our stay. All the staff kept up with all our needs and kept the bedrooms and public spaces spotlessly clean.

Amazing! This was a truly outstanding experience. We have travelled a lot in Morocco and around the world and this boutique Riad was definitely up there with the very best! A special ‘Thank you!!’ to Yasmine for being so helpful with offering to help sort out our car hire problem, removing the stress and taking the weight off our shoulders and thus enabling us to relax and really appreciate our wonderful stay at Le Calife. Apart from being an exquisite Riad, the staff were delightful and the attention to detail was exceptional. To top it all, a beautifully presented breakfast in sumptuous surroundings was arranged for us for a very early departure at 5am on our last morning. We simply cannot fault it!

This Riad is unlike any you will stay in Morocco, it was amazing in every possible way, our hosts Alex and his wife made sure we were well looked after, meals, drinks and organising tours. I made a mistake of only staying 2 nights, I would recommend at least 3 to 5 nights. Clean and comfortable well supplied with anything you will need. Our room Diamond (Diamant) was one of the most beautiful room, I’ve stayed in in all our travels. Wow ! In the end it was a real privilege to have stayed in Riad Le Calife. Many Thanks

An incredible riad - don’t hesitate in booking your stay here. Alex and jasmine are wonderful hosts who go above and beyond. It’s made my future stays in Marrakesh difficult - the standard is now so high! From the room to the rooftop terrace, everything is wonderful. Breakfast is excellent and I’d encourage anyone to have dinner there one night. Do take into consideration the riad is around 20 min walk to the main dining options. Will definitely be coming back! Thank you!

The owners, Alex and Yasmin, are wonderful hosts, and a lot of fun - I rarely write reviews but the warmth of the reception we received at Le Calife has compelled me to on this occasion. I’ve never felt so well looked after in all my years of travelling. And then there’s the Riad - exquisite in detail, beautifully conceived, a treat for the eyes everywhere you look, and oh so tranquil and relaxing. The food is excellent - we took the option of dinner one evening and only now do I realise how good prunes in a tajine can taste. The staff are superbly attentive whilst never overbearing or intrusive - you can truly unwind here. We also took the option of using a guide supplied by the Riad for our first look around Fes - Miriam, who grew up in the Medina and provided us with a first class tour and a priceless insight in to Moroccan culture.
Cons: There isn’t a single thing to dislike at Le Calife.

Riad Le a Calife is an oasis of civility in the medina of Fez. Tastefully designed with helpful management and staff. The rooftop is wonderful for relaxing or having breakfast or dinner, and the views are terrific. There is a full bar downstairs, and we enjoyed having drinks in the courtyard. Highly recommend.

This is a beautiful riad shortly to benefit from brand new spa facilities. The riad is beautifully designed and decorated, with elements of the owners' character coming through in the décor. Alex has an infectious charm and love for Fez, which he passed along in his recommendations for local spots. Yasmine (and little Bimba) were equally warm and helpful, assisting with modifying our travel arrangements. Said and the team were very welcoming. Special mention to Fatima's homecooked food and daily biscuits. My favourite tagine in Morocco! The room was a magnificent ruby-coloured escape from the chaos of the Fez medina, provided by the stained glass windows. The riad was set around a beautiful courtyard and featured a delightful roof terrace with a view over the medina; the room was cool, bed was comfortable, and the bathroom products were delightful. Also, the street bakery on the approach to the riad, just around the corner, is a must-try.

This hotel was the best on the trip, as might be expected from all the other exceptional reviews. We found ourselves craving it once we left for other cities. The food was excellent, the staff incredibly helpful. I would recommend this riad to anybody.

The overall experience was fabulous. The owner Yasmine is the reason people go back to a place, because it feels like home away home except all things are taken care of. She has intimate knowledge of the medina and allows you to have a carefree and relaxing stay. The riad is decorated impeccably and is perfect for those looking for a little something extra, a cabinet of curiosities of sort, a home museum all in one. Good for creative types and perfectly situated. We were actually staying at Karawan next door and my family but we wished we had decided to book with them instead. Thank you for a wonderful way to discover the city of my ancestors for the first time. Zohar and Sam Benjelloun (and Henia, Ada, Noam and Khadija too!)

My husband and are still raving about our time at Riad Le Calife. We don't have enough words to describe how wonderful our experience was. The guest house is beautifully decorated with little vignettes set up everywhere you look. The styling is beautiful. I kept taking pictures to show my interior designer as I knew she would love everything about it and it would just make her happy to see. The location was also perfect. We loved being in the old medina, but loved that we were tucked away from fray. Then there is the unbelievable hospitality of Alex and Yasmine. They take you in and take care of everything. Their joy of life, hosting, and sharing the love of their city is infectious. We found ourselves just wanting to be in their presence. We had them plan our various tours, and were thrilled with the results. They took care of everything. They have trained their staff to take care of every detail and anticipate your every need. The food is also amazing. We ate so well. When the end of our time in Fes came we weren't ready to leave. We will definitely be back and can't recommend it highly enough

My honey & I and another couple recently spent two lovely nights at the Riad Le Calife in Fes. I can’t say enough about this beautiful Riad, lovely hostess, Yasmine, and wonderful and attentive staff. We were warmly welcomed, sitting in the beautiful interior courtyard, with trees, birds, fountain, drinking delicious mint tea; indeed an oasis in the sprawl of the medina. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean, and very well appointed. Breakfast was delicious - coffee, tea, yogurt, breads/rolls/crepes, jams, honey, olives, and eggs. We also had a delicious dinner at the Riad. The Riad is well situated within the medina. We were directed to park outside the medina and were met by staff to assist with our luggage and directions to the Riad. Through Yasmine we set up a full day walking tour of the medina, which we would recommend to everyone. The medina is a maze, and with so much to see, it was excellent having a guide to introduce us to all the amazing architecture and artisans. Yasmine also recommended the restaurant at the Palais Faraj, delicious food in a very beautiful setting. If you are heading to Fes, we would highly recommend the Riad Le Calife.

When you enter Riad Le Calife in Fes, Morocco, you enter the tales of 'One Thousand and One Nights'. The beauty, and mystery of the place are overwhelming. We recommend it whole heartedly and cannot wait to return!!

The Riad was charming, clean, well-located, and Yasmine, Alex and the staff met our every need cheerfully and efficiently. Our family of four had a wonderful time in Fes, but being able to relax and let our guards down in the peace and comfort of Riad Le Calife after time in the medina was invaluable. The medina is exhilarating and we never experienced any moments of real concern there, but one will experience there the moderate stresses of haggling, sometimes getting lost in the "maze", and shooing off would be "guides", etc. Having a first-class and professional establishment like Riad Le Calife to return home to is very refreshing. Also, to the extent we wanted to venture beyond the medina for tours, and to get help with train station transfers, Yasmine and Alex were able to make prompt and economical arrangements. As to the rooms, we had two rooms and both were decorated with impressive furnishings and amazing tilework, and designed to allow in natural light when desired, but also to close off the outside light if needed. As to breakfast, it was filling and well-done every morning - juice, coffee/tea, pastries, bread, meat, cheese, and choice of egg -- and served in an upper room with a view over the medina. We had been a little concerned that some of the reviews of this riad (and all others) were dated given the Covid tourism downturn, but we were happy to find that Riad Le Calife is thriving and still as wonderful as described in may previous reviews we had read.
Cons: Our rooms both required climbing several winding flights of stairs. That was good in the sense that the rooms were high enough to have great views of the courtyard and, to some extent, over the nearby portions of the medina. But there are no elevators, so if we were limited in mobility, I think it would been problematic. I do not recall seeing any ground level guest rooms, but I am just not sure.

What a little gem in the middle of Fes! It's my first time traveling to North Africa and to a Muslim predominant country, it was definitely an eye opening experience. location - right in the heart of media and easily accessible by taxi from taxi aiport. The riad arranged airport transport at a very reasonable price, and the staff was waiting for us to help with the luggage when we arrive. room - the room is very spacious and well appointed. It was better than the pictures on line, beautifully decorated with all the intricate Moroccan details. The bathroom is large, with separate shower and toilet, and a large bathtub. Super clean and comfortable, and well stock with all the amenities (slippers, bathrobe) that one need during vacation. The riad itself is beautiful and tastefully decorated with all the antiquities the owner collected over the years. Service - the service is impeccable. The riad owners Yasmin and Alex take such excellent care of the guests and make sure you have the best time in Fes. They help you with the itinerary and restaurant recommendations, walk through the map, and paid great attention to every detail of the stay. There are only 7 rooms in the riad, so you really feel that the service is very personal. From the welcome mint tea on arrival, to the cookies in the room baked by the riad's chef, I felt very pampered by all the staff. Value - great value, breakfast included, and much more comfortable than hotels.

The warmth, welcome, assistance and service of the owners — indeed ALL staff — is over-the-top. The location — a two minute walk inside the Médina — yet utterly removed from the chaos and bustle of the crowds, offers a perfect location for both experiencing the Medina or exiting to sightsee outside. The quality of the guides the owners procured were top-rate. Breakfast was wonderful. The room was clean and spacious. My wife and I have travelled for 40 years and this is one of our all-time favorites. Look no further if you’ll be staying in Fes.

From the minute we checked in, Andalla Riad and Spa welcomed us with open arms. This Riad is absolutely beautiful, well taken care of and immaculate. The rooms are done so tastefully in a Moroccan motif and the air conditioner kept our room very comfortable, even when the temps were in the high 90’s outside. Their staff couldn’t have done more, even if we asked. They were so helpful and kind, and always had time to help with anything we needed. They gave us wonderful recommendations for restaurants and places to visit and shop. Breakfast on the rooftop patio was a treat every morning, and their dinners served in the evening on the rooftop are not to be missed. A special thank you to Christophe, Andre, Youniss, Abdul, Ahmet, Aziz, Abdullah and the rest of the staff. You made our stay in Marrakech so memorable and an unforgettable experience!

(Disclaimer - anyone using Maps app be warned Riad shows up in two locations which are right next to each other so you run the risk of making infinite circles looking for it. Best to call Yasmine and wait for someone to come get you) The Riad really is lovely. Yasmine is very polite & helpful; the cookies on arrival are what pastry dreams are made of and I would not even know where to begin to rave about the service. We had quite an unpleasant stay in Fez (sadly ... through NO fault of this Riad) but Yasmine was very thoughtful to follow up via email to make sure we got to the next destination along our route safely and were back to loving Morocco and having the time of our lives. Our luggage was not just brought to our room - it was organized and carefully put away - the bag of cherries we picked up on the drive along the highway were waiting for us washed in a beautiful bowl on a table by the time we made it to the room - hats and scarves hanging in the closet ... every time we left the room we came back to it perfectly arranged back to an almost OCD level of neatness - something of which I could sing praises for days. The rooftop is stunning. The restaurant was most charming. Though not without it's faults - I could not get past the odd smell in the bathroom which I quickly figured out was mold growing in the shower. Being sensitive to smells it was quite bothersome for me personally. My advice - stay away from the blue room but definitely stay @ Riad Le Calife.

Our stay at the Riad Le Calife was a lovely, special experience. Alexandre and Yasmine are wonderful hosts. They have really put their hearts into this place and it shows. It is beautifully decorated throughout, making a peaceful retreat from the craziness of the medina. They are also very good ambassadors and have a lot of knowledge and pride for their city and had endless recommendations for walks, sightseeing, eating, shopping. The entire staff was endlessly helpful and courteous. We had wanted to experience different restaurants in the 3 nights we were in Fes, and Alex had many great recommendations, but we had a hard time going outside of the Riad since meals at the Riad were so excellent. Kudos to everyone, especially Mohamed and Fatima. The room itself (we stayed in the Emerald Room) was fantastic. Large and comfortable. Lots of other places to hang out around the Riad as well, including terrace, bar, courtyard. The Riad is a little hard to find, so be sure to contact Alex prior to arrival and they will make sure everything is taken care of. In summary, I'm sure there are many nice Riad's to stay at in Fes, but it's hard to believe that you'll find one as peaceful and comfortable as Le Calife. My advice is to stay here and I promise you will feel lucky, as we do, that you have had such a wonderful experience during your travels.

Where to start. This is an exceptional place. It is so beautifully designed with every last detail in mind - from the little bar off the delightful courtyard to unwind after the day and play board games to the terrific music playlist to the rooftop breakfast room to the thoughtfully curated art pieces everywhere. Our room was lovely, charming, clean with very comfortable bed and pillows. But as beautiful as our surroundings were, the wondering hosts Alex and Yasmine and Riad team made our stay exceptional. They met us at the taxi, gave us a local phone to stay in contact, set us up with a terrific Medina tour guide, arranged a car to Casablanca for us. They called a restaurant and asked them to meet us so we wouldn't get lost and sent someone to walk us back from the square when we got back quite late. Alex greeted us with tea and cookies in the lobby when we first arrived and spent time orienting us to the layout of Fez and provided guidance on how to make the most of our stay. His love of his adopted city was infectious. We only wished we could have stayed longer. Truly best Riad in Morocco. And best couscous meal we had on our entire trip.

We had a great vacation in Fes, a big part due to our experience at Riad Le Calife. Not only is the facility impeccably restored and decorated, but the same level of attention was also paid to the quality of the experience by the staff. The rooftop lounge and restaurant have a amazing view of the Médina and hills surrounding the city and the dinner and breakfast up there are great. Last but not least, Alex and Yasmine went out of the way to make sure all of our excursions in the Médina and the neighboring towns were the best quality, including a great hammam and spa visit. They also provided an escort from the Riad to the nearby taxi stand even though it is not far or hard to find like many of the other Riads or Dars.

We stayed here for three days while touring Fez and the surrounding area. It was a wonderful stay, it greatly added to our enjoyment of our visit to Morocco and Fez. First, Yasmine and Alex were great hosts, they were very friendly and helpful, very attentive to our needs. The staff was also great. Second, the riad is beautifully decorated, breakfast and dinners on the roof were great, an awesome view of old Fez. Because each day was a long day of touring, it was very nice to end the day with dinner in the riad, the food was excellent, it was a nice calm and relaxing separation from the hectic old city.

The decor in this Riad is beautiful. It is in a very convenient location just inside the Riad. We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class with the lovely Fatima - thanks for the recipes to bring back home! Really can’t fault anything but a special mention to Yasmine and Alex who go out of their way to ensure your stay is a happy one. Outstanding hospitality!

Wonderful old property lovingly restored and maintained. We loved the service and attention of Yasmine and her team. No request was too difficult for them. We recommend the Riad to anyone who wants an authentic experience in the old Medina but with all the modern conveniences.

The Riad Le Calife is not a five star hotel but rather, if possible, I would classify it as a six star accommodation. From the very start of your arrival, the riad, provides customer service which is beyond expectations. The difference between checking into our riad in Marrakech and Le Calife were like day and night. First, our driver contacted the riad as we approached Fes. When we arrived, the riad sent someone to meet us outside the medina wall to help us with our luggage and direct us to the riad. Upon entering the riad, you are immediately met with a level of detail that surpasses anything I have ever experienced. The riad is decorated with well appointed antiques arranged meticulously. The court yard is spotless with a beautiful fountain surrounded by shady trees and multiple tables and chairs for the riad’s clients. The rooms, like the common areas are well decorated. A fresh fruit basket ( apple, orange and bananas ) as well as bottled water are provided daily. The bathroom is well equipped with hair dryer, toiletries, big fluffy towels, Q-tips, makeup-mirror,etc. There is a flat panel TV attached to the wall to allow for background music or a quick update on news. A mini bar and refrigerator are available. The bed is very comfortable ( which was such a treat having come from the desert ). Beautiful stained glass windows open up into the courtyard. The attention to detail is what makes this a riad beyond 5 stars.

My favorite phrase from Fes "The best things are hidden" Riad Le Calife exemplifies this. The high, plain stone Medina walls hide a true gem that exceeded all expectations. A blend of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with Old Europe chic, every space invites you to linger and appreciate. But the heart and life is Yasmine, Alex and the wonderful staff that make you feel like valued family. Upon booking they reached out with information and offers of assistance. They arranged for our initial pickup, a driver for Meknes, Volubilis, & Moulay Idriss. and a guide through Fes, all at great value. Then you arrive and receive a genuine greeting, a phone if needed, excellent recommendations. offers of assistance, with cookies and tea. Want to return ASAP A highlight was the cooking lass with Fatima. Our only regret was not enjoying more of her meals.

This riad is made very special by the outstanding commitment to guest service and sheer enthusiasm of Alex, along with charming Yasmine and the excellent staff. Being on the edge of the old medina, just a short walk down a passage leads to a square and main street, from which access to the top end of the medina is possible, and also to the other end at Bab Boujeloud if you have a decent map plus GPS.

My daughter and I stayed at Riad Le Calife in March. This is without a doubt the best place to be in Fez. The location is perfect...right in the Medina but tucked away just enough from the hustle and bustle so that you can enjoy some quiet time. Our room was beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff was polite and friendly. The food, which is prepared by their wonderful cook Fatima was delicious. We took advantage of the cooking class that they offer...so worth it! The owners (Alexandre and Yasmine) bent over backwards to make our stay perfect. I definitely recommend the Riad Le Calife, it was the best place in all of Morocco!

The riad is truly stunning. Beautifully decorated and maintained. We used the riad's kitchen for each breakfast and one dinner and it was excellent. The riad arranged for us to be picked up at the airport, made reservations for dinner and arranged a half day tour of the medina. Couldn't have been happier with the experience.

We loved our stay at Riad Le Calife!!! Really wonderful owners, Yasmine and Alex were super helpful and kind, the chef Fatima's food at dining room is one of a kind! All the staff there go above and beyond and they are all friendly and helpful. We totally recommend to eat dinner at their dining room rather than restaurant outside of the riad- Fatima's food is the most memorable and delicious during our trip of Morocco (We traveled from Marrakech to Fez so we had enough food to compare, trust me!) We ended up eating at this Riad the entire stay while we were in Fes. The location is great and easy to navigate. Only regret is we did not take Fatima's cooking class and spa! But always next time!!! We will definitely recommend Riad Le Calife for everyone and we will come back to stay again!

The food is delicious as well, shout out to the chef Fatima! As a design afficionado, every detail is simply perfect. I could not stop taking photos of the carefully curated antiques and moroccan pieces creating an excellent eclectic balance. Plus, they upgraded us upon arrival, which was very thoughtful! Will come again and would recommend whole heartedly.

Location - In the Medina in Fes. About a 5min walk from where you get dropped off by a cab. Food - Unreal. The breakfast that is included is fantastic, but the dinner you purchase is worth every penny, euro, dinar. Probably the best meal I had in Morocco (which is saying a lot). The only issue was it was so much food and so good we ate entirely too much. Room - We stayed in the Amber room on the first floor. It was beautiful. I caught my wife taking photos of the bed and decorations while organizing my bag. Grounds - Really, really cool. Lots of great colors and decorations. The bar is beautiful. My wife and I spent some time enjoying it before moving to the roof to enjoy the amazing views of Fes. Staff - Alex and Yasmine were great. Extremely nice, accommodating, knowledgeable. The helped us book our dinner reservations our second night as well as set up cabs and guides to help us navigate at night. As we were leaving for Casablanca Alex was still giving us recommendations on where to eat at Fes. Overall - An amazing stay in an amazing city. There are so many places in the world that I rarely ever go back. Fes and Riad Calife are on the list of "would go back".

Staying at Alex' and Yasmine's beautifully decorated Riad is like being in an art gallery. Their passion for the Fes culture and knowledge adds a bonus to the wonderful relaxing visit. Of the many countries I've seen, I can honestly say this was the most beautiful and unique place to stay!

We recently returned from 15 days in Morocco where we spent three glorious days and nights in Fes at the Riad Le Calife. One of the best experiences I've had anywhere in the world. Alex and his wife Yasmine run this as a labor of love and it shows. There is nothing they wouldn't do, within reason, to make a you happy. Five minutes after arriving we felt like we were home. The warmth, caring and concern extended by Alex upon our arrival was beyond anything I've experienced in a lifetime of travel. Whatever you need, Alex and Yasmine are there to make it happen. The riad is beautiful. Location in the Medina is perfect. The food is first class. The first class accommodations are over the top clean and comfortable. Alex set us up with a wonderful guide should you want one for exploring the Medina. I would not hesitate to recommend Le Calife as a first choice for your stay in Fes. My wife is already talking about going back and we've only been home for two weeks! Thank you Alex and Yasmine for the experience of a lifetime. I'm sure you'll see us again. We were delivered to the Cinema Amal and someone from the hotel was there waiting for us. He brought our bags to the hotel where we were greeted and told all about the hotel as well as the city of Fes including places to eat, etc. There are not enough wonderful things to say - the people were thoughtful, friendly, and helpful - and the amenities were spectacular. The food was delicious, the cooking class with Fatima was a great intro for us. They coordinated trips for us through the Fes medina and to Meknes and Volubilis.

A wonderful boutique hotel in a beautifully renovated Riad in the historic Medina in Fez. Alex and Yasmine are the most gracious of hosts, and their entire staff is exceedingly friendly, helpful and service-oriented. The rooms and public spaces are exquisitely decorated with beautiful, traditional Moroccan art, artifacts and furnishings. Our room was absolutely beautiful. We loved the cooking of their in-house cook so much that we had dinner there every night of our stay. The traditional Moroccan dishes were served on an amazing roof terrace restaurant with beautiful views over the city. It couldn't have been more perfect. We walked each day from the Riad to explore all of historic Fez. I could not recommend this hotel more!

There is a reason Riad Le Calife is rated no.1. First, from the look, it is a traditional riad. But when you start to look at the details, it is a modern hotel, from the comfort bed, sheets clean and high quality, towels, clean and soft, to the shower room (water pressure is high, and get you a hot shower), air conditioner is quiet. The owner Alex is very helpful, and all the staff are very friendly. Breakfast is great, and the view from the rooftop is amazing. In short words, it is a modern hotel experience (VIP treatment) in a traditional riad. You don't get to see many of these type Riad in Morocco. If you visit Fes, you should stay at this Riad.

Beautiful Riad in a great location in Fes! We stayed in the Rubis room (oct 11,12) and it was stunning. The roof top terrace offers great views of the city. The dinner, which we had prepared by the riad, was one of the best meals we had in Morocco. The owners and staff were very helpful, and were always around if you had a question. It was a great place to relax at the end of our trip, we will definitely return!

I LOVED this place! The staff were AMAZING! I was traveling solo and I am oh so thankful that I chose this place to stay because they were so helpful to me. I'm notorious for getting lost and they arranged for people to guide me anywhere I wanted to go - even to another restaurant! Truly, I don't know how I would have done it without them and their helpfulness. They even provide cell phones in case we get lost and they have travel converters for those that didn't have them. Truly amazing. The rooms were AWESOME! CLEAN, QUIET, and COMFORTABLE. The food was EXCELLENT. I would definitely stay again and definitely recommend this place.

Riad le Calife is near one of the entrances in the medina of Fez. It's a conveniently located and nicely decorated Riad. The owners were very nice and helpful and even lent us a local phone in case we got lost in the medina. We also had a dinner in the Riad which was delicious.

We spent 4 nights at Yasmine and Alex's guesthouse in Fez and we are already planning a return. They restored it 8 years ago and have impeccable taste. We ate dinner there on our last night and wish we would have had more meals at the Riad. Fatima is the chef and can give you a free cooking class if you would like. Yasmine and Alex are always around to give you recommendations and couldn't be more helpful. They can arrange tours, hammams and Alex will even give you tips on haggling. She is from Fez and he is from France. Both fluent in English. We will definitely be back!

Stayed here 4 nights and what a terrific experience. The riad is right in the Medina but easy to get to as just off a main street. Very quiet at all times. Rooms are beautiful and spotless, and the personal advice and service from Alex and Yasmine is really great. Nothing is too much trouble. We also had a cooking class with the hotel chef Fatima. A great afternoon... learnt lots about Moroccan cuisine. We ate dinner twice in the hotel and these were the best meals we had on our trip. Worthwhile getting a guide for the first day to take you through the medina (which can be difficult to navigate) and we also went out on a walk in the middle atlas and had an afternoon at a small hotel in the hills (which was a great contrast the the hustle and bustle of Fes). Overall a wonderful trip, a great hotel and would definitely go back!

Stayed here for two nights but wish we could have stayed there longer! Most beautiful Riad with so much open space everywhere and stunning carvings and the BEST view in Fez with their rooftop terrace!! Yasmine and Alex are wonderful and so helpful with everything and Fatima (the chef) is phenomenal!! Her chicken pastilla is to die for along with the lovely welcome gift and departing treats they gave us. The room is also beautiful with a lush bed and the softest towels. Cannot recommend this Riad enough when visiting Fez and the location is perfect as well since you can easily walk to the heart of the Medina (once you get a hang of the location).

When I began planning our trip to Morocco, I started by reading reviews of hotels and riads in Fes. When I read the reviews of Riad Le Calife, I actually didn't believe any place could be a good as the reviews reported. I was wrong. The Riad, Alex and Yasmine. and their entire staff were better than we could have dreamed. The Riad itself is beautiful, welcoming, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our suite (Rubis) was thoroughly delightful, and the service was over the top wonderful. Yasmine was a fantastic communicator during the planning stages of the trip, promptly and efficiently answering every question I had, and arranging for our every need. From setting up airport transportation, to helping us with our train tickets to Marrakech, to arranging our guide in the Medina (Aziz, who was fantastic), to welcoming us for dinner (cooked to perfection by Fatima-wow!), she and Alexandre and their entire staff were nothing short of the perfect hosts. They were patient, kind and caring, and even our flaky last-minute changes and requests were met with graciousness and generous assistance. I can't imagine that our stay in Fes could have been any better than they made it for us. Thank you!

Very beautiful room. Wifi and heat/AC is good. The restaurant in the Riad has great food and an amazing view of the city, probably one of the best views you can get. It is easy to get to considering it is right next to the medina and you can't drive most places in the medina. Walkable to all the sites and the staff is super helpful and friendly.
