The interconnected riads were fabulous - the location, decor, breakfasts were all wonderful! But what really set the property apart was the manager Hayat and concierge Hajiba - the warmest, loveliest ladies we met in Morocco

Cons: My room was a bit dark for reading but that’s such a minor point

An oasis of calm in the heart of the city, the warm welcome and exceptional staff made the stay feel like home. The rooftop terrace was superb and was a lovely space in which to have breakfast or home cooked evening meals. Hamman & massage treatments in their private rooms were great. Location was perfect for exploring the Medina with views of the palace walls from the terrace. Most of all though, it was the warm and caring staff who delivered such a high level of service in a beautiful peaceful setting, that made the stay in Marrakech so memorable.

Cons: Nothing to dislike at all!!

The riad is absolutely beautiful a peaceful oasis in the heart of Marrakech. The rooms are elegant and well maintained, and the atmosphere feels authentically Moroccan yet very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. A special thanks to Mrs. Hayat at the reception for her warm hospitality, professionalism, and kindness — she made us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived.

Zeer goede locatie- uitvalsbasis voor de stad te bezichtigen - je kan dit niet vergelijken met een 5* hotel de Dar/ Riad is kleinschalig maar met een gepersonaliseerde service en zeer rustig

The riad has authentic Moroccan design with a beautiful courtyard and architecture. It's located away from the busy tourist streets, which makes it quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean, with good AC and water pressure.

Cons: While charming in style, the property felt darker than expected and has many stairs, which made it less comfortable for our group. It was also very quiet, almost as if we were the only guests. The restaurant service was disappointing - essentially a table set in the courtyard, with a long wait and no true restaurant atmosphere. For the price, I expected more comfort, liveliness and overall value.

Very friendly staff who couldn´t do enough for us. The food was a little disappointing but that could be because we do not know Moroccan cuisine. The restaurant is alcohol-free including no beer. The room was very comfortable with good air conditioning. Very good location and easy to get around.

We spent good amount of time until we found the hotel. Room is extremely dark and too small. Breakfast is 20 USD per person which is too expensive. They park your car to a near parking then you have deal with the guy in the parking and he is asking you to pay 5 times more than usual price. There is no tv no kettle. Stairs are too narrow. Staff is very friendly.

I traveled with friends for Easter and it was my first visit to Marrakech. I have never experienced such a kind and warm attitude of the staff. Cons: This is nowhere near the 5 star property they advertise themselves as. It’s a 2 star at most - dark and dingy and the pictures way oversell it. We did not bother checking in even though they refused to give my friend and I any refund on a combined 5 night stay for $2000. We booked on the day of arrival so it wasn’t like they held a room for us and weren’t able to offer it to anyone else. We even offered that they keep a one night cancellation fee but they refused and wanted to keep the whole amount. I guess they are desperate. Avoid this place, we found a much nicer, newer Riad with great amenities at half the price!

First of all the staff… absolutely brilliant, couldn’t do enough for us… special mention to hayat and hajiba who were outstanding. The location is very good for the palaces and a short walk from the main square. Only down side ( and it’s small beer TBH)… the rooms are very dark and there is no kettle in the room, so you have to ask for tea ( and pay for it) on a morning.

This world-wide and weary traveler landed at 6am in the morning and went directly to Dar Les Cigognes to drop off luggage with the intention of strolling around Marrakesh until check-in time. Everything you read about this Dar is true: charming, well-located, clean, VERY service oriented with its own restaurant and hammam/spa services and the terrace is magnificent. But then...I inadvertently dozed off in their serene little courtyard in a cozy cushioned corner. When I woke up there was a pot of mint tea, a tray of cookies, and the staff had covered me with a blanket while I was sleeping. Morrocans are known for their gracious hospitality and Dar Les Cigognes is an outstanding example of customer kindness and care.

Dar Les Cigognes was an amazing stay. The staff treated us like family. It really felt like we were staying with relatives and loved ones. The Riad was so beautiful and cozy. The services offered for massage and dining were better than anything we did outside of the Riad. It is close to a lot of the sights around the old medina in Marrakesh. There was a ton of markets around within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this stay.

Cons: I rented a car and because the stay is in the old medina I opted for storing the car and taking taxis when needed. The traffic is overwhelming for those not accustomed to it.

We had a lovely stay!the room was spacious and spotless and staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and all of them went out of their way to make us feel at home . To name few Hayat( manager),Haseeba, Azeez and Abdu. First time we were staying in a riyad house and it was one of the greatest experience for us. We had a very warm welcome and staff managed to cook an amazing dinner even though we ordered it a bit late. Staff helped with stay and were available whenever we needed them for eg collecting food deliveries and speaking to delivery drivers when we were struggling with the language. They were happy to give instructions on daily trips and were very polite and was happy to repeat them if we didn’t understand anything. We also got fireplace done daily as place was cold at night at that time . It just felt like home as staff never made you feel like you are in a hotel. Roof top restaurant was nice with good seating and indoor plants and it was nice to sip some tea and relax in the evening . Hammam was available at request and it was a nice experience We really felt bad after 6 days of stay as staff has become so friendly and we had a great farewell with everyone coming and greeting us out of the way and it felt great ! I would love to write much more but rest be assured you will never regret if you are staying here in your Moroccan trip. Also very near to airport and it was in the middle of medina and many tourist sites

Cons: The only downside was there was no kettle in the room . But we always got hot drinks whenever we needed from the kitchen . Owner , a lovely lady from UK spoke to us and she mentioned that she will sort that issue with the kettle for future visits and they had it already available if needed .

Manager and staff were very friendly. Book a better room than the standard if you can , as these have seating areas. Our room was smaller, .which meant sitting on the bed when in during the day. Mind you the terrace was brilliant , colourful with birds and bees flying around made it a wuiet haven in the city. Loved our stay . Internet didn't work inside our room, but did outside the door and all common areas.

Cons: The very busy street outside at certain times of day was manic on occasions.

I had an amazing stay at this riad in Marrakech! The rooms and bathrooms were incredibly comfortable, with beautiful decor that created a serene and luxurious atmosphere. The water pressure in the shower was excellent—a small detail, but it made a big difference. Breakfast each morning was delicious, featuring a variety of fresh and flavorful options to start the day right. The rooftop terrace was a true highlight, offering breathtaking views of the royal palace and a peaceful spot to relax. The standout feature of this riad, though, was the staff. Every team member was outstanding, but Hayat deserves special recognition for making me feel completely at home. Her kindness, respect, and warm hospitality made my experience unforgettable. I will definitely return to this beautiful place and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Marrakech!

The staff were all amazing, friendly and attentive. Went out of their way to make you feel welcome and made sure all needs were met.

Cons: The riad was very dark, with no atmosphere and lack of lighting and the bedroom we were in was very disappointing. No natural light felt like we were in a cave. The breakfast should have been included in the rate, which we felt was overpriced and not good value for money, we could get a much better breakfast for a fraction of the cost at one of the restaurants on the square close by, which all had fabulous breakfasts. There are many other riads that are a lot nicer for a lot less money. It looks nothing like the pictures, and we were very disappointed in the aesthetics for the price we paid, which is a shame as the staff are glorious!

We recently stayed at Dar Les Cigognes in Marrakech for four nights and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, Hayat, Hajiba, and the other employees made us feel incredibly welcome and at home. After a day of exploring the bustling streets of Marrakech, returning to the riad felt like stepping into a haven of peace and serenity. The staff’s hospitality was exceptional. They greeted us with mint tea and biscuits every time we entered the riad, a gesture that made us feel truly special. On my wife's birthday, they even provided a beautiful henna design on her hand free of charge, a thoughtful and touching gesture that we will always remember. The riad’s location is perfect – just a 10-minute walk to the main square and very close to the main attractions and souks. This convenience made our stay even more enjoyable as we could easily explore the vibrant city. Overall, Dar Les Cigognes provided an unforgettable experience with its warm hospitality, excellent location, and tranquil ambiance. We couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommended!

This Riad was our favorite of the many we stayed at in our trip through Morocco. It is located a few steps from the gate into the Medina and minutes from the Jamma el-Fnaa. The Dar Les Cigognes is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed with a beautiful view at every turn and with an exquisite balcony to enjoy a meal or to see all Marrakech. However. the height of our experience starts with the most wonderful woman we met on our whole trip--Hayat. Earlier in our trip, I had taken a fall which was causing a lot of pain. Hayat checked on me all the time for the 3 days we stayed there—offering help, food, tea, assistance of all kinds. Her kindness was not unique to us because she greeted everyone like they were family. She provided big hugs and unbelievable hospitality. We ate breakfast and dinner there and both were extremely enjoyable. Our experience there was extraordinary—one of those places we will never forget.

The pro’s of this property is the room is comfortable and has everything needed, and the hotel is close to attractions and dining options. Unfortunately the wifi is weak on the second floor where my room was and on the last night while I was eating in the restaurant, I was given an envelope by the manager to put my tip in when I checked out the next day, I was then asked 2 more times about the tip by the manager. This is very poor manners, pushy and made me feel very uncomfortable. A tip should be at the guests discretion, not forced! I hope they take this feedback onboard and change this behaviour.

Bursting with flowers, the rooftop terrace must be one of the prettiest in all of Marrakech and was a magical setting for our dinner beneath the stars. From here, you can also glimpse the storks nesting on the palace ramparts. Hayat and her team offer exceptional service and go the extra mile for their guests. A place to return to!

Cons: It’s time the owners brightened up the ground floor lobby with better lighting and decor.

I can’t imagine being at a better locale than Dar Les Cigonws. Hayat and the rest of the team were more than first rate — they made you feel like cherished family. The property is immaculate and well appointed. The location is tremendous - close enough to easily and quickly walk to any place in the Medina, but not right in the middle where it would be loud for all hours. This was, literally, one of the best experiences of my life, and I have been to over 60 countries.

staff were amazingly friendly and very helpful to fix and sort anything . we had a lovely lunch served on the rooftop on the first day.

Cons: In winter Marrakech is cold in the morning and evening. The Riad was not warm and inviting with loads of candles or look like the pictures in the night. it was dark and gloomy when you arrived back. Our bedroom lighting was poor. could barely see to do make up or hair. also our shower was shocking we couldn't get the right temperature and there was no pressure. for the price per night this wasn't right. also the breakfast was not included in the price and it should be. the individual cost of breakfast items were expensive for the standard served.

1/ rooms are very clean. 2/ room size was pretty good. 3/ Staff is the best. Initially one misses the facilities of a traditional hotel but over time, you begin to appreciate a home like atmosphere and attitude rather than business like attitude in hotels. 4/ personal touch- turn down service was something we began to look forward to as they keep Rumi’s poetry every day to read, and cookies, and sometimes rose petals. 5/ Amazing staff. Welcoming , observant, always smiling. Nowhere else have we received hugs so abundantly as here- Hayat was absolutely amazing, so positive, and always made us feel like family. One day when my wife didn’t go for breakfast and didn’t come out until 11 (we had gone hiking the previous day and she was very tired), Hayat sent tea and cookies for her. It was a very sweet gesture, and one can’t expect that in traditional hotels.

Cons: 1/ Food was overpriced. So we didn’t eat at the property. 2/ Rooms are very clean but receive little natural light. So seem very dark in spite of lights. 3/ noise is an issue. Until late into the night you continue hearing all sorts of noises- from water running to things being arranged, and people coming and going, talking, coughing etc etc etc. Noise from the road outside are additional! 4/ Room is pretty decent in size but one misses a chair or something to sit on. You can’t get into bed as soon as you come to the hotel! 5/ no tea coffee making facility in the room that we take for granted in hotels now. 6/ Bottled water is charged extra while it should be provided free (even if a limited quantity per room) since while travelling, most people don’t want to take risk with water even if it is filtered. 7/ no toilet shower! 8/ the bath tub is slightly high to get into and gets slippery when showering.

Our stay at Dar Les Cignognes was wonderful. The staff there are among the best I've seen, anywhere. They really make you feel like family. The rooftop patio is a great, quiet oasis from the craziness of the city. It's a lovely, traditional Road. Very intimate. In terms of location, it's great. About 10 minutes walk from the Jemaa el Fna. Very close to the palaces. They offer all kinds of options - cooking classes, massages, fine dining. My wife had a massage and loved it. I highly recommend Dar Les Cignognes!

I had plans to stay at this property but unfortunately I was in an accident, sprained my foot, and had to be on crutches for 2 weeks. This hotel was not understanding at all and would not refund my hotel (not even partially). Hotels that don’t have any compassion or care for their guests’ health or well-being don’t deserve anyone’s business.

Pretty riad, centrally located but far enough from the hustle and bustle of the souk for some peace. Lovely roof terrace. Staff can’t do enough for you and make you feel very special and at home. Only downside, while the food was tasty, the quality was not as good as restaurants in town but priced the same. Also the hotel driver is quite expensive for transfers/trips compared to local taxis but staff are happy to arrange the latter for you instead.

Avoid this Riad/hotel 100%...much better ones all over town. We had an awful time here and would never return. The food is ok-ish, service is terrible. You feel like you are just being watched all the time and that they just want your money. They even told us this, "spend all your money here". Not professional at all. The spa is a joke, lazy lazy staff. Go to a professional spa....with better service and prices. Book here at your own risk...you've been warned.

This is a charming riad located next to the Badi Palace, and within 15 minutes' walk to the Jemaa el Fna and the souks. The staff at Dar Les Cigognes are wonderfully hospitable and did everything to accommodate our needs. Our suite was spacious and well-decorated and the lovely argan oil toiletries were replenished every day of our 6-night stay. Breakfast on the terrace was fulsome --- the petit dejeuner complet has everything you could possibly want (fruit, selection of breads, Moroccan crepes, pancakes, cake, omelette, yoghurt, coffee, tea and orange juice) --- and the Salt Restaurant offers an excellent 5-course set menu every night that provides a Moroccan gourmet experience without requiring you to set foot outside of the riad. Perfect for those evenings when the bustle of the souks become too much. We would recommend this riad to Marrakech visitors wanting a boutique hotel experience at reasonable prices.

based on reviews, other luxury riads we stayed in and Expedia prize award from 2015, we were disappointed : first there was construction and we got lost and we called for 20min on their landline, no pick up... Second: Some rooms need a face lift.. Third, , Staff watched us leave carrying bags and didn't offer help.. the front desk lady did not know where the toilets were! breakfast's Staff blouses were not spotless... and finally, every riad I stayed in, had breakfast included, here we had to pay about $40 extra for bfast.. we recommend including it in the listed price like the vast majority of riads...so prospective clients have full disclosure

Not so easy to find at night but once there it was an oasis in amongst wonderful chaos outside. Wi-fi not so good in the rooms and our room had some mould on the ceiling but otherwise comfortable. Not the cheapest Riad in town but well run. Menu excellent but pricey and breakfast not so cheap but nice on the rooftop overlooking the city and the nearby stork nests

Had an amazing Easter stay at Dar les Cigognes. It is a 5 minute walk from the main street that leads to Jemaa el Fna. The Riad is gorgeous and very well taken care of. Service is truly impeccable. Lovely roof terrace where you can relax during breakfast or a mid-day or sunset rest after a day out exploring. One piece of advice is to make sure that your room has a window if you are not a fan of dark rooms. Some of the rooms (including the suites) only face the courtyard so they are quite dark, although still gorgeous.

Truly a great experience, it's in the medina, just a short distance from all the hustle and bustle. It's in front of the kings castle, badi castle and near other sightseeing museums, palaces and gardens. The service was incredible, we complained that we had been cold in the room and every night after that they would heat our bed so it would be nice and cozy and leave delectable cookies for a night cap. Booked the culinary class which comes with a tour of market, truly sensational, informative and unique experience and the culinary class, exquisite!!! Spectacular vacation!!!

The staff at Dar Les Cigognes were exceptional and delivered a high standard of service, very attentive to your needs and always with a smile. A wonderful riad with a friendly staff. The location could have been a little better, as it is quite a walk from the Jama el Fna square. Our suite was absolutely beautiful, silent, and impeccably clean. It was somewhat annoying that some of the staff insisted on addressing us in very broken English instead of French. We had dinner at the riad the day of our arrival as well; it was wonderful and we definitely recommend their food! Breakfast was a little odd; they brought me eight slices of brie (who can eat that much?!) but no bread to eat it with. But delicious otherwise.

We had initially arrived in Marakech 4 days before having to check in here. Our original Riad (Riad Bamileke) near Derb Debacci was a nightmare. We had scoured expedia for a deal and stumbled across the wonderful Dar Les Cigones. We booked early on the same day we checked in around 10am and headed over at 2pm to check in. The staff here are so great, we had a warm welcome at the hotel - tea and pastries and were then taken to our room. The hotel supplies a book of recommended locations and restaurants, even excursions and helped whenever we needed a taxi. The room was great and most importantly quiet. No noise from the staff in the early hours and they honestly couldn't do enough for us. My girlfriend had an upset stomach on our second night and the guy on the door downstairs called one of the off duty members of staff to try and source some prunes and figs to help from the souks. 20 minutes later the guy showed up at the door, fruit in hand. Regarding the hotel itself, it's located near the old Jewish quarter, directly opposite Palais Badii. Short walk to the souks and also has a lovely roof top terrace for a warm sunny breakfast. If you've not been to Marakech before, it can be an exhausting experience and having the right hotel/riad to come back to and chill is very important. I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone!

This riad is an oasis to the busy streets and buzz of lively Marrakech. With fountain courtyards and a rooftop terrace of some city views, it is indeed a place of its own. The staff is incredibly attentive and responsive to your needs. The cooking class in the Dar les Cigognes kitchen is a must as well as an empty stomach. Although, I didn't have time to go on the market tour with the cooking class. Each room in the riad is a fantasy of its own and worth exploring. Don't forget to schedule a hamman! Be prepared to budget western hotel prices for your stay at this riad. There is a reason why it's been given so many stars, but it is worth it.

Stayed at Dar Les Cigognes for two nights in early August and really wished we could have stayed more. On our arrival at the stunningly beautiful road, we were greeted by Pierre and his lovely staff who couldn't have been friendlier or more enthusiastic. Our early flight had got us to the hotel at breakfast-time but our room was ready for us which was wonderful and meant we could get on with our day. Pierre took the time over tea and homemade sweet treats (delicious) to tell us all about Marrakech and helped us design the perfect plan for a couple of days in the city based around what we wanted to do and what he knew would work best - so incredibly helpful and helped us make the most of the time we had. He's also just such a fun character to chat to! The riad and the rooms themselves are beautiful, filled with nice touches such as beautifully presented hommade potions and lotions in the bathroom and fresh fruit to snack on. Breakfast was delicious - go hungry as it's a feast that will last you the day - and served on the flowery and peaceful roof terrace. Can't recommend it enough and will be back no doubt! Than you Pierre! Hywel and Lani.

We stayed 8 nights in Dar Les Cigognes for a relaxed honeymoon. Everything about the place was fantastic from the mint tea and biscuits and rose petals on the bed on arrival to the little box of biscuits as a parting gift. All the staff were warm and welcoming which made our trip very special. They went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We used their sister Riad's pool quite frequently when we were there and were equally well received. It is an excellent spot to explore the wonders of Marrakech.

Dar Les Cigognes was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The place is gorgeous and the staff was extremely friendly and dedicated to making our stay as great as possible. This is the kind of place where there is attention to detail to any and all aspects of your stay - from the delicious food and personalized service to suggesting sights and great places to eat and shop. The hotel provides a list of recommended addresses that we used to guide our visit and all their recommendations were spot on. I really cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
