the Riad is very beautiful and the host is lovely and is positioned close to the beach (5-10 min to the beach)
Cons: the wifi was down due to a network problem and the location is a bit far from Rabat city. You can use only taxis to get there or you can go by foot in a 40 min walk on a very busy bridge (where you can’t breathe properly)

The host Rita was exceptionally friendly and could not have been more helpful sorting out personal matters. The riad is ideally situated within minutes of local restaurants and shops and it takes 10-12 minutes to walk to the pier where you can cross the river to Rabat on a small rowing boat or to the tram stop. A freshly prepared Morrocan breakfast is served on the terrace, with a fantastic 360 degrees view of the Oudayas across the Bou Regreg river, of the sea and of Salé town and Rabat. The Fès room was very clean, quiet and spacious, with a large and comfortable bed and a beautiful bathroom.

On a adoré...

In the heart of the ancient walled city of Salé, this historic riad has great views of Rabat and Kasbah Oudayas. Enjoy the sunset from the rooftop garden and lounge area. The rooms are beautiful, and the owner is very hospitable. I strongly recommend eating in at night at least once; the food is stellar! You won't regret it. And make time for a good Moroccan breakfast, too. A La Belle Étoile is centrally located, and easy to get to by taxi from Rabat Airport (use the small yellow taxis) or from Salé Train Station. The little shopping streets of Salé and the market, the beach with its fish market, and the Bouregreg Marina are all in easy walking distance, as is the tram into the central Rabat. You will find plenty to enjoy. I' prefervthis location to Rabat across the water. I'm definitely coming back.
Cons: Take something warm if you're watching the sunset from the roof garden in the autumn or winter..Expect fog. It's beautiful to watch it roll in from the Atlantic, but have your supper under canvas in the atmospheric longe on the roof to keep warm in winter or cool in summer. I had to work online while staying here, and the lounge was a very comfortable workspace with good Internet. You can't do this from your room. The rooms are excellent for resting and sleep, not work. If you can, choose a room without exterior windows for the best night's sleep, especially if you are a light sleeper. Exterior windows let in light, but also some noise. I slept wonderfully. Perfect.

The view on the Kasbah of the Oudayas.
Cons: The rusty and hard-to-close windows and doors, the lights which were not working outside our entrance door, the very strong smell of drainage in the toilet, the moldy curtain in the shower, being charged 7€ / person for breakfast in Morocco, which is way overpriced! Overall, it felt like being in a hostel and we felt that what we paid was too much for what we’ve got.

This Riad feels stopped in time. I gorgeous, it makes you wonder continuously about it’s past… Is one of the most beautiful riad I had the pleasure to stay. Nothing
Cons: The place, very basic room, a surelevated mattress on the floor, you had to climb to the matress, it was on the ground floor, very noisy, nothing inside the room, no tables, no TV, no wifi and now AC, not even a fan, the air was sticky lack of ventilation, very humid, 1 or 2 silverfishes, mold inside the bathroom. The owner, a French is disagreable. There is no restaurant in this place, and no hamman or massage place, no AC's in the rooms, you have to climb 3 flights of steep stairs from the groundfloor to the rooftop in order to have wifi. All in all a bad experience. Sale is rundown under construction.

The riad is average , with a nice breakfast and cool terrace. However the problem was with the staff at check out. It was the last day of our stay and they did not remember ya the taxes you have to pay at check out. They did not accept credit card, nor euro, they have no change, and when promptly asked to find the closest money change they insulted as and attacked us screaming loud. I will send the amount via paypal but is not recommended.

Never again! Overpriced! Rooms need renovations. Arrogant owner, was even not able to prepare us a simple cup of coffee for breakfast the first day. We were planning not have breakfast at the riad but plans have got changed. When I asked him if we could get some breakfast, he reacted angry and walked away. Well we had a nice breakfast outdoors, way better then in the riad. Lady who served breakfast the other days was friendly.

Very nice and friendly, great breakfast with a view of the breakers on the ocean line. The breakfast on the terrace was the highlight but the room was also very comfortable and beautifully restored in the traditional riad way. Parking was not a problem, just round the corner. Owner very welcoming despite our rather late and unavoidable arrival, did his best to rustle up some food to keep us going until the fantastic Moroccan breakfast!

Lovely Riad, actually a Dar..but very pretty. Loved our room. A bit dark as these places always are, good idea to have a little flashlight or your cell to see in your suitcases. We are two couples traveling together and all enjoyed our stay there. This place is not in Rabat however, it is just across the bridge in Sale, so you need to use your car or the petit taxis to get places. The ladies who run this were very kind and service oriented. We have stayed at three Riads this trip..this our favorite, so far.

A delightful Riad, on arrival we were met by reception and then did not see a sole person for rest of stay except for waitress at breakfast. Our room was OK but the shower and toilet left much to be desired. Toilet in same space as shower. Location wise great for Rabat which I highly recommend. Quite a noisy location, broken sleep due to traffic and women shouting outside but that is expected in Morocco. Some other rooms were vacant when we were there, think we were in a low cost room, although we payed full price. Other rooms were superior to our room.

This riad is a 10-min walk + 5 min tram ride to Rabat center. But getting there from airport or train station (there's a "Sale" station, one stop from Rabat-ville), you will have to get a taxi. No direct taxi between Sale and Rabat center. Staff is friendly but not always knowledgeable. Breakfast is good and dinner is excellent if you ask for it. Rooftop terrasse is beautiful. Essaouira room is spacious and luminous but since it's at the top, you may have some partyers above you on the rooftop on certain nights. Other rooms on 1st floor seemed comfy as well. One staff asked to be paid for the room in advance (he was leaving but his colleague was going to be there upon our departure) so I was a little annoyed.

First thing they asked was the money for both nights before even we set down. We have been in Morocco for over three weeks and this was the first time we paid money before we were ready to check out. We filled up forms, gave our Passports and finished our check in. Place was very noisy, it was in Sale not in Rabat, no transportation near by so taxi was the only way, nothing was available at walking distance, prices for food was double than the previous five star Riad we stayed. We were tired since we were traveling since early morning, Riad was very noisy every night till midnight, but we finally fel asleep at about 11:30, few minutes and the receiving guy knock on our room door, because he had forgotten to write down some number from our passport. We both had to wake up, get dressed to talk to him. Bathroom had leak so the floor and wall had water damage, wall had cracks , dusts every where. It is not the place but it is the people who runs the place can make you like your stay or not. Morocco is beautiful and people are very warm and helpful, does not include this Riad.

We arrived quite late but had no trouble finding a taxi driver to take us all the way to the door. Saida, the owner, was most helpful in explaining things to see and also upgraded our room as a larger room was available. She also took care of things such as helping us break some change etc nearby. The riad itself was very beautiful and most comfortable. It is about 15mins from the airport and near many attractions in Sale which probably doesn't get all that many tourists.

The only thing that topped that was the service. The staff there were always very helpful and extremely patient with my broken French (although most of the staff spoke at least some English). In addition, the staff helped me to arrange for transportation to and from the airport, although my flight was delayed by over 7 hours. Very helpful and I would definitely stay there again if I am ever in Morocco. The price of the room was fantastic and the food was also very good.

Riad was very comfortable and service was good. On arrival into Rabat it was not easy to find and our driver drove around until finally contacting the Riad. Great views from the rooftop terrace and really nice breakfast. Staff did not speak good English but we were able to communicate. Easy walk to the new marina which is a great place to eat, very new with only a couple of places open but nice cheap good. Being in the Medina area no alcohol is served in restaurants however owner on request did provide for consumption in Riad.

relatively cheap holiday (except alcohol) and taxis, if you don't have your wits about you. Sale is safe to walk around, but it is fairly dirty down on the beach (plastic bags etc.) A better beach is across the river in Rabat, where it's a lot cleaner and has cafes on the seafront, but was v. busy on the Sunday we swam there.

The hotel is in medina of Sale, a city next to Rabat. Since we drive so we enjoy to stay in a relatively quieter place. The hotel is a traditional riad and the hotel staff is nice and helpful, show us a map with everything essential marked. The room is clean, spacious and the shower is the best out of all my morocco hotel experience (I've also stayed in Marrakech, Casablanca, Fes, Chefchaouen, Tangier). I was given a list of food to choose from for breakfast including different types of bread, fruits, yogurt, cake, omelet, tea/coffee. Though it is a bit expensive but I think it worths.

The designer of this Riad probably made the best he could with the space, but the end result is still choking, smelly and dark. The roof terrace is very nice and that's where you will be whisked to accept your welcome tea and where you will be served breakfast. The rooms however are narrow and dark and laced with odor covering incense. The breakfast was pretty good with choices not offered in other Riads in Fes or Marrakech, so that's a plus. The Riad is in the Sale area of Rabat, outside the Sale media, across from the river and the medina of Rabat. Is not the best location, but it is workable for most destinations in Rabat and Sale.

Nice room and breakfast... But not all the taxes were included in the reservation, so we had to pay 10% extra! in the end is a bit too expensive for a place far from Rabat.

This Raid is spotlessly clean and has been restored to a very high standard, in a quite corner of the Medina of Sale. 5 Min walk to tram lines 1&2 makes it easy to get around, and taxis at entrance to Medina 2 Min walk. Also only 10 mins by taxi to Rabat Sale Airport. There is no hassle whatsoever in Sale and very little in Rabat in General (except for lots of people begging for spare change) All the staff are super friendly (genuine) and helpful, A good Breakfast is served on the rooftop, with great views of Rabat Kasbah des Oudaias and ocean. We didn't eat here as there are plenty of local eateries in Medina and much keener prices that most Riad's offer.

It was really fantastic to sty in this Riad. It is very nice and clean. It is warm in winter, the food is excellent and very suitable for families. However, it is not easy to find it.

Riad à la Belle Etoile is a beautifully architected home with large rooms and tasteful decorations. The courtyard is a traditional Moroccan style veranda with beautiful tiles, plaster work, and wooden accents. The hotel staff is genuinely friendly and makes every effort so that the guests feel right at home. The bathrooms are well-equipped and have all the modern upgrades. Riad à la Belle Etoile is conveniently close to the medina of Sale and the tram station. Our stay was very enjoyable and in particular, hearty breakfasts on the roof were a memorable highlight.

The riad was delightful; however Salle was a letdown. The tram station is however close enough making the trip to Rabat quite convenient. Also be cognizant of the fact that the riad only accepts cash; the hotels.com website mentioned that they accept payment in cards as well - led to some inconvenience for me at a later stage of my trip.

Stephane is a great host, knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. We stayed three nights and took up Stephane's suggestions of sites to see including a trip to the beach (plage de nations). It all worked out fine. The Ryad is beautiful and restored to a high standard. Sale makes a nice retreat from Rabat and the tramway makes travelling between the two centres quick and effective. Thoroughly recommended.

Riad à la Belle Etoile is a gem near the edge of the medina in Salé, which I only stumbled on by accident, as I needed a place to stay convenient to catching an early morning flight from the nearby Rabat-Salé airport. I did not require much and was not expecting much in the accommodations, I just needed a clean, safe place to catch a few hours' sleep. Nevertheless, I was overwhelmed by the comfort of the room, the beauty of the interior décor of the riad, and especially the service of the staff. I was especially touched by the accommodation of my need to catch a taxi at 5:00am: not only did they arrange for the cab pickup and give me a polite wake-up knock on the door, they went out of their way to provide an earlybird coffee and breakfast that I had just barely enough time to enjoy before dashing off to the airport. My only regret is that I could not stay longer, to have seen more of the Riad and of the port of Salé. I hope to remedy this omission on my next visit to Morocco. I highly recommend Riad à la Belle Etoile, so glad I could stay there on my final night in Morocco!

After spending a week with a large group in Rabat at a conference hotel I needed a quiet place to relax. I also had a very early flight to catch a couple days later and I wasn't sure I wanted to pay the exorbitant fee the place I was staying at charged for the service. And then I found Stephane and Fatimzahra's place. For the price of a room at a two star hotel in Rabat, I got my own suite in this elegantly decorated, magnificently preserved riad. It took me a few minutes to find it once I got off the light rail and walked around the medina's wall, but a beautiful little girl saw me and figured I was looking for the place, and walked me through the streets of Sale and waited by my side until Fatimzahra came to open the gate. I was speechless. The riad was beautiful. The food was superb, the service outstanding - the young man working the dining room is angelic- I did not even feel like leaving the place. The riad is conveniently located for those who want to explore Rabat, and a welcome relief from its traffic and noise. They also provide taxi service to the airport for a very convenient price. I will go back.

A great place to start a Moroccan holiday. Every comfort but within a small authentic hideaway. Stefane and the girls were helpful without being fussy and served up beautiful food at dinner and breakfast. We took Stefane's advice on how to get about and found the ultra-modern tram a great way to get around quickly. The highlight was a visit to the Roman remains at Chellah. Highly recommended.

Nice riad in Sale, Rabat. Friendly staff and worth a stay if you have a day or so in the area. Prices in the Rabat area were much more than anywhere else in Morocco but this riad was reasonably priced compared to others.

Very beautiful, quaint place. Very Moroccan decor. Friendly staff and owner. Rooms were a little cold, for winter travel. Wonderful dinner and breakfasts! Location was a little remote, needed taxi service.
