I really loved the atmosphere of the accommodation, especially the unique and beautifully designed courtyard. It gave the entire place a very special and relaxing charm. The dinner offered at the property was excellent and truly exceeded my expectations. If possible, I would highly recommend experiencing it at least once during your stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful traditional house in Fes. The carved wooden doors, walls, and details make it feel like a small palace—full of character and history. The staff, especially Otmane, Zahra, and Rashid, were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food (both dinner and breakfast) was delicious. The location is excellent, on the edge of the Medina with easy road access, which makes it both great to arrive at and explore the city, much simpler than in many other riads. A comfortable, authentic and memorable stay.

We stayed three nights at this beautiful riad, and everything was simply excellent — the hospitality, the room, and the food. We had dinner at the riad on all three evenings, and every meal was wonderful and full of flavor. The entire team was incredibly kind and welcoming; we truly felt at home. Special thanks to Othman, Zahra, and Rachid — all of them were amazing! We also loved the calm atmosphere and the perfect location, just a short walk from the heart of the old city. We will definitely come back again when we visit Fes next time!

This property is an extremely gorgeous riad ! Zahra checked us in and was so friendly and helpful. She offered dinner service so we had three nights of the very best of Moroccan cooking. Each night and morning Otmane was there to check in to help with any planning we needed for the next days. His help was indispensable and much appreciated. We wouldn’t have enjoyed our visit without his lovely smile and follow through with or plans. We left early and insisted we take breakfast for our 7 hour train ride to Marrakech. It’s was very inexpensive for the location and beauty of the interiors.

The building (Riad) was amazing. This is probably the most beautiful hotel I have ever been in. The staff were very kind and helpful especially Zahra. I also like the location. I specifically didn't want to stay in the Medina because I was afraid of feeling claustrophobic. This was less than 5 minutes walk away.

Cons: The breakfast was very basic and leaning strongly towards carbs / sweet stuff. I need to eat a savory breakfast and this wasn't available. I ended up eating outdoors.

Beautiful property and a truly lovely family and staff that run it. They must us feel welcome and were very accommodating. The wood work and tile work in this Riad is magnificently beautiful; the room we stayed in was a great size (although the bathroom was small) and was well appointed. It was a great escape after exploring Fes all day. The area is safe and easily walkable to restaurants and shops but a guide is recommended beyond that. We enjoyed breakfast everyday and even had dinner one night at the Riad. The hosts organized a hammam at the hotel as well, which was a cool experience.

Cons: Unfortunately the rooftop wasn't opened when we were there because of a renovation project but we still enjoyed the Riad.

Awesome Riad very close to the Medina with a very warm welcome. Through the atmosphere of this special place you plunge directly into history. We had a huge beautifully decorated maisonette-like room with comfy beds and a private roof terrace. We especially liked the helpful staff. The attentive hotel manager took care of everything and recommended very good walking tours through the city and it's different neighborhoods. He also provided interesting insights into moroccan daily life for us. Thank you very much :)! Great breakfast in the splendid ground floor premises.

The Dar is a gorgeously preserved piece of period architecture and furnishings. The cedar wood doors, carved ceilings and the tile work is amazing. My room was huge, with a four poster bed and a comfortable sofa bed. Otmane and his team were incredibly helpful at making every part of my stay smooth. Great staff and beautiful property!

Cons: The staff arranged a tour for us and I think the guy wasn’t a good choice, he charged us way too much (he said it went to charity but I don’t think it did) and he kept pushing buying carpets for export. Gorgeous Riad with wonderful open space and friendly staff. We felt welcomed and were given lots of tips and recommendations for the city. We asked for a dinner recommendation and they organized someone to come pick us up to take us to the restaurant, which was very nice of them. The breakfast every morning was a highlight, as eating in the courtyard with its fountain is the perfect way to start the day. Staff were particularly good; always avaiable and ready to help. Both Zahraa and Rasheed are marvelous; they make you feel like family. Zahra was very accomodating with offering available room that is more conveniwnt whwn possoble ( ground floor). Proximity of the Riad fo the entrance to old Medina (Bab Jaloud) was a bonus We made friends at Riad AlAndalus!

Cons: Not particularly keen on food ( quality wise); good experience rhough! Mind you Zahra wa again trying to provide for preferences. Potential to be booked on upper floors whoch may be difficult for petsons with limitations Cleanliness, due to old structure and bedding, is a challwnge I guess ( at least my standards_expectations were not met... thete was daily floor cleani g etc... but can clean scatfeted rugs for example!!! Do not count on Riad to provide you with shampoo and petsonal gels and soaps!

The hotel/riad and the room we had were beautiful. That’s the good news. Now for the rest. We booked a room that clearly stated would be on the first floor. I sent two messages to the hotel prior to confirm stating we had problems with steps. These went unanswered. When we arrived we were met by the hostess(?) who said she lived there. She was very talkative and indicated all the rooms on the first floor were allocated so we would need to be upstairs. Two flights of steep, curving stairs up. And to make matters worse, the bathroom in the suite was DOWN six curving tiled stairs!!!! Ridiculous. And it gets worse. On the second day we brought two pieces of our luggage to the lobby with us while we were eating breakfast. The gentleman at the hotel who has just helped us the day before proceeded to take our luggage, with another group of guests luggage and pack it into a car when they departed. When we finished breakfast our bags were gone. The hostess contacted the tour company to get to the driver who admitted he had our bags, but would not be returning them. He wanted to put them in a taxi and send them back. Thankfully our driver and your guide got involved, stopped them and made them wait while they drove 20 minutes to retrieve them. Mysteriously though my wife had a small bag that was somehow in the possession of one of the hotel staff. This delayed our touring for two hours on the only full day we were in town. I would under no circumstances return to this property.

You have to experience this beautiful place to understand what it is all about. Such a gorgeous place in the centre, kept as beautiful as it is for over 20years now and whereever you look you see dedication, passion and respect to the origins. One of the first 3 Riyad’s in Fes, this place is really something different. We spontenaously spent the new year’s days here, and couldn’t be better to be honest. Othman, his parents, Rashid, Zahra and the crazy good live music made us feel at home❤️ they also somehow managed to find the Grapes for the tradition and it was so much fun to share those moments with them!!! Our room was in the ground floor, it was very charming, especially the ceiling. It’s always full so make sure to plan and book it in advance I’d say. The cleaning service and the staff was very good. The breakfasts were very abundant and the food served is very good. We can’t forget our randomly served teas throughout the day🥰 such a nice detail. We definitely recommend booking a guide for a tour in the city, we didn’t listen to them on this and now wishing that we would have done that! It definitely worths it! If you’re planning to visit Fes please make sure to stay here, you’ll thank for it later🥂

Riad meraviglioso! Consigliatissimo!

We loved Riad Dar Al Andalous. The riad itself is magnificent with two linked courtyards overlooked by several of the rooms, the decor is authentic without being over the top. Our suite, the Manzeh was delightful with lots of windows, a supremely comfortable king bed and bags of Moroccan style. It was also very warm, which is important, as in Winter the tall courtyards are really almost impossible to heat. The location really could not be bettered, it is just outside the medina but 5 minutes walk to the souks, tanneries etc, in the other direction are the Mellah, Royal Palace and gardens. The lane in which it is found is calm and quiet. We walked everywhere from here at all hours. But the real stars of Al Andalous are the staff; Zahra, Osmane and Rashid were incredibly welcoming and responded readily to our every request. We felt this to be a real home from home. We also booked a private day tour with Omega tours, located just opposite, to Volubilis and Meknes with "no shopping". This was unforgettable and highly recommended, our driver Salim was excellent.

The Riad was beautiful with traditional Moroccan architecture and antique furnishings. The chef is superb with both breakfast and dinner. The staff were very warm and hospitable. They helped us plan excursions and just made our stay very enjoyable. I can tell that they take pride in making sure the customer has a pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend.

Beautiful riad in a brilliant location within close walking distance to everything (yet somehow a very peaceful and quiet atmosphere). The food was a real standout - the best we had in Morocco. We had dinners and breakfasts and loved every single dish! Meals were served with wonderful care in the intimate inner courtyard

Cons: We were looking forward to enjoying the rooftop but it was not in use, which was slightly disappointing

This place was amazing. Mr. Pierre has super nice cozy characre and his welcoming was make us so relax even in a middle of city. The place is very quiet and it is absolutely high rated especially interior and the pool, also the structured layout of whole area of it is interesting. You can enjoy a walking through small path in the area and have a relaxing time wherever you want. If you have a plan to visit or pass by around there, I recommend you to stay there. The location is perfect. Easy for taxis to find. Close enough to walk. They even have a hamam! It is the oldest riad in Fes, and the rooms & courtyards reflect Arab Minimalism. It was our honeymoon, and the staff sent my wife over the moon. The dinners are du jour, and the suites are romantic! 💯 Recommend. It feels like staying at a home away from home.

Amazing ambiance! Super delicious breakfast! We ordered dinner two times, it was the best you can find in the whole town! Next time we are in Fes, we will 100% choose Riad Andalous for our stay. Dar Alandalous is a jewel in the heart of the Medina of Fez, boasting stunning architecture that showcases the rich heritage of the region. The staff, led by Otmane and Zara, are the highlight of the Riad—always going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay with a smile. Guests can look forward to a fairytale experience with beautifully adorned rooms. The breakfasts were varied, and they really took into account your own preferences (e.g. we liked scrambled eggs). The location is also incredibly convenient, situated on a quiet street near major attractions with easy walking distance to the Medina.

Cons: While the overall experience is great, some areas could use improvement. The bathrooms and electrical outlets need better maintenance to match the quality found throughout the rest of the Riad. Improved lighting in the rooms would enhance the atmosphere, especially for those who find the current setup a bit too dark. Additionally, noise can be an issue, particularly from the main patio affecting the nearby suites. Lastly, guests with a preference for savory breakfast items might find the options limited, as the menu leans heavily towards sweet dishes.

This is a beautiful riad in the traditional Fes style with two inner courtyards in a very accessible location for the old city. The staff were wonderful - very friendly, attentive, and kind. Zahra made us feel really welcome, she was always available to answer questions in English, French and Arabic with insight and good humour, and ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed; Ouliya is a remarkable cook and we enjoyed several delightful dinners Moroccan-style at the riad after long days walking about (it's important to let the staff know in advance if you want dinner in the evening, so they can discuss the menu with you and buy ingredients fresh that day); and Rashid was a solid and special presence who helped us feel comfortable and at home in so many ways. This is a family owned riad that is integrating their younger family members into the business, so visitors of all ages and backgrounds are welcomed. As an older woman, I felt very safe and my son felt very well treated.

Cons: If you like quiet, then ask for a room on one of the upper floors, provided you can manage stairs. If you like easy access, then a room on the ground floor is very convenient. When in the Medina, it took us time to gauge prices that weren't excessive even for tourists, so doing some homework on what to expect is a good idea.

I made the reservations in February and received a confirmation. My credit card was charged which surprised me - the other riads want to be paid in cash. When we arrived, we were told they over booked - and were going to find us another riad close by. They found me a place; offered us apologies and lunch the next day (we were going to be out sight seeing); we were told the second riad would have us for the full 3 nights although the first room was not entirely what we wanted- but they were doing the best they could. We found out approximately 10pm the second night that we were being moved to yet another riad….the Andalous manager apologized; over the phone said he was going to stop by the next morning and tell us where we were going- he did not.show (apparently he went to Casablanca to pick up other guests) and did not communicate with the Alcazar folks about where we were going. Our bags were sitting by the reception desk. I guess the manager of the Alcazar was able to reach the manager from the Andalous; he sent a colleague to retrieve us and walk us over to Riad Sucrier. She tried to explain that it was a problem with Expedia and mis communication with booking. The whole experience with Andalous was a mess; I didn't appreciate moving twice and the lack of communication.

We loved our big room with a comfortable bed, high celings and a jacuzzi! The common areas are stunning. Delicious breakfast with local and fresh food. Rashid welcomed us every day with a big smile. He made our stay unique! always there to assist us. The place is close to restaurants and the medina. I trully recommend it. We went in February so we couldn't enjoy the terrace. We share the place with only another couple so practically had it Riad for us. Love it!

Cons: The first night we didn't have warm water for the jacuzzy. They explained to us it was due to the low use of the pipes and more tiem was needed. We enjoy a warm bath the next morning :)

The first sight of the property fills you with awe, and then you see the disrepair and the neglect :) The breakfast was elaborate and well prepared, and in addition to freshly pressed espresso, toast, and eggs, we'd get a new traditional food item (msemen, beghrir, l'assida etc.) along with it. There was freshly squeezed orange juice too, and when we requested for it during the day, we were given a highly diluted version of it, and also charged for it 😅 which was then removed as concession. The staff is welcoming and chatty, they have to sometimes be nudged into doing their job :)

Cons: We were forced to book 2 rooms given our family composition - 2 adults and 2 kids (aged 9 and 6). We asked them for just one room which they refused, but upgraded us to a bigger one and gave a kids' room half a floor above ours. We told them we wouldn't have use for it, and we didn't use it, and yet paid for the 3 days' booking for no reason. All other places in Morocco (Marrakesh, Casablanca) we faced no such issues to accommodate kids with us, with of course an extra charge for their breakfast. During our stay, we also took a hammam experience- it was sold as a 300 Mdh per person package for 60 min. Only once we were prepping for it we were told that 300 dh is only for the scrubbing bath, not for the massage, which is an additional 300. Such clever wording is avoidable and they should be fully transparent of what the hammam experience includes, and does not. The property has seen better days- the floor's zellige tile pieces were coming off, one of the legs of the sofa was broken, there was very less light/lamps in the room - overall the room (and the entire property in fact) looked worn out and could definitely use more repair and restoration. It is a beautiful property, and must be restored, for it is a part of Fes's rich history and culture. The place could use more involved and professional management - more often than not, any information or guidance was not attended to in time, if at all.

Cons: The room was spacious and great, but the style did require alot of fabric (drapes, carpet sofa) which tend necessarily to get dusty a bit. The bathroom had a bit of wall damage. Overall very clean though. This is the only reason I gave a 9 not a 10.

We had the pleasure of staying at Riad Al Andalous in Fes, Morocco, and I must say it was a truly wonderful experience. We were greeted by a warm and friendly team that made us feel right at home. Othman, the manager, shared with us the fascinating history of the Riad, explaining that he had recently taken over the management of the riad from his father. It was interesting to learn that Riad Al Andalous was one of the first Riads to be converted into a guesthouse about 25 years ago. The Riad itself is a masterpiece, with its magnificent combination of two Riads. Bear in mind that being a century old, some parts of the Riad show signs of wear. While the Riad may have a slightly tired appearance in some areas, it is a testament to its rich history and adds to the overall charm and authenticity of the place. The attention to detail in the courtyard is exquisite, with beautiful decorations and the sound of water from it's fountain that create a tranquil atmosphere. It truly feels like an oasis in the heart of Fes. It is ideally situated just a 5-minute walk from the Medina and a 10-minute walk from the blue gate, which is the main entrance to the Medina. This makes it incredibly convenient for exploring the bustling streets, vibrant markets, and historical sites of Fes. During our stay, we encountered a small issue with the bathroom. However, upon bringing it to Othman's attention, he swiftly found a solution that left us more than happy. It was a testament to the exceptional service provided by the Riad's staff. Rashid, in particular, was always available to assist us and ensure that our needs were met. Lastly, I must mention the delicious breakfast we enjoyed every morning. The cook at the Riad prepared the most amazing semolina bread that was an absolute delight. It was the perfect start to our days, and we looked forward to it each morning. Overall, our stay at Riad Al Andalous was a truly memorable experience.

We also spent time on the terrace during the day and evening and had dinner at the Riad, which was really really nice. The wide selection of Maroccan and European dishes served to the table meant we could taste new and familiar dishes . The staff were extremely friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The Rihad is a stunning example of high , airy architecture full of moorish decoration . Rooms are comfortable .Private guides and chauffeurs are suggested by the proprietor. Dinner, plus choice of wines , is available if you prefer to pass the evening at the property .There is a different menu each evening or you can ask for what you prefer.

This Riad, in fact two family riads that have been combined, is tucked away down a blind alley, It's authentic, spacious and comfortable (although in winter, when we visited, the single heater/cooler, perched beneath the high roof, had little effect). If you're reading in your bedroom after dark, lighting is very inadequate. Breakfasts are generous and the owner is attentive - perhaps excessively so. A mild warning: we were repeatedly cajoled to write a 5-star review on platforms such as this one, ideally before we left. Similarly, if we had criticisms, to say silent and refrain from comment. For this reason, I suspect that the overall 9+ grading is unnaturally skewed towards the positive.

We spent here 5 nights. We had a very great time here, the staff has tried its best to make us feel comfortable. The Riad is situated in a quiet street at the margin of the Medina. It is very close to the main attractions and still very quiet. Another advantage is that the taxi can get you in front of the street and then you walk 50 m to the accomodation. The Medina is car free, so otherwise you'd have to walk a bit to the taxi. The Riad has arranged a taxi for us to the airport. The Riad and the rooms are wonderfully decorated and also very clean. The beds in our standard double room were comfortable and big. There is also a big, beautiful roof terrace. The breakfast was very good, mostly sweet, they offer fresh juice, marmelade and freshly made pankaces. If you have any wish - we wanted scrambled eggs- they will try to make it for you. We dined there once, the food was very tasty. It will cost almost double as in a normal restaurant, but the food was fresh made and one of the best I tried in Morocco. They also have a Hammam, I can only recommend it! All in all, we had a wonderful time here!

Cons: I wished that the breakfast had more 'salty' products, like cheese or olives, but this is of course a matter of choice, many prefer the 'sweet' version. 🙂

We felt like being at home. The hospitality and service were beyond our expectations. The best dinner we had in our stay in Fes was even better than a 5-star hotel. The location was perfect, in a quiet part of the medina but really near all the attractions. walkable distance. We felt safe in the streets and walking at night as well. noting that we were two young women. It was easy to come and go. The transfer to the airport was really good as well. We decided to have a guide on the first day, and it was a suggestion from the riad; it was really great. Also, the riad is an architectural gem; it's beautiful. It was mesmerizing when we arrived to just sit there, listen to the water fountain, and drink our mint tea. We loved being there and missed it when we got home.

Cons: the bathroom and the cleanliness in general were not amazing. however it is an old mansion, with ancient materials, very well maintained. the light, the walls, the woods were of a dazzling wealth. it was really worth it.

Best Riad in Fes-Medina, great location (3 min. from Old Medina), best customer service, the place is beautifully restored and the stuff is kind, helpful and friendly. The owners are a beautiful family, ready to help and reach the customers’ requests with kindness and care.

Overall we had an excellent stay. Everyone we interacted with (the owner, his son, Zahra, and Rashid) were incredibly helpful and kind. There were extremely accommodating and truly made our stay special. The dinner we had at the Riad was delicious, and the hammam they arranged was rejuvenating after a long week.

Cons: The water in the shower never really got "hot" and our room did not got cleaned while we were out for the day. The breakfast, while good, was on the more basic side in comparison to other Moroccan breakfasts.

Lovely Raid in Medina. The owner went out of his way to make our stay lovely. Highly recommend their restaurant. Homemade Moroccan food. Better than restaurant. Ate there twice. Also, a great location.

Dar Al Andalous is lovely. Everything about it is beautiful. The views are stunning. The entire riad is a beaut. It is very accessible, the medina is walkable, around 5-10 mins. All of them are very hospitable. I arrived late for check-in and they were able to prepare a late dinner for me. I appreciate the kindness of Otname and Zahra. I even met the owner, Mr. Mohammed, himself.

We arrived at the Riad Dar Al Andalous in the middle of a festival and the streets leading to the Riad were all closed. A kind Samaritan helped us navigate to our hotel and find off street parking. Any inconvenience was immediately erased when we entered the Riad! It was like entering another age, with hand made tiles, wooden cornices, vaulted ceilings, gardened courtyard, and fountains. The only thing missing was the Pasha and dancing girls. The owners live on site and manage the Riad, making sure that all guests are welcomed and comfortable at all times. The owners have done an excellent job of maintaining the unique old-world beauty and mystery but combining with air conditioning and modern bathrooms. Everything was very clean, and the service was exceptional. The Riad is in the old city, but off the beaten path and pleasantly calm and quiet. We were only in Fes for two nights and had all of our meals at the Riad. The Moroccan dishes were excellently prepared and beautifully presented. If you stay at this Riad, make sure to request the Moroccan Chicken Pastilla. There is no better comfort food in the world! The entire staff, housekeeper, cooks, porter, front desk, etc., are part of the Riad Dar Al Andalous family, which made our stay even more enjoyable. For those travelers like us who want something different than typical Mariott stay, we highly recommend the Riad Dar Al Andalous and will certainly stay there when we return to Fes! We stayed in several Riads while in Morocco and loved them all. The only issue is that none had elevators, and most rooms were upstairs. If you have old knees like we do, you will want to request ground floor rooms.

The house was amazing and the service wonderful. Breakfast was superb and its a true local experience. We also had dinner there the first night and that was a great way to start off our Moroccan adventure. Rooms were grand and it's a repeat as long as everyone can walk without help.

Cons: We couldn't drive upto the front of the hotel but had to walk with a porter. Lots of stairs because it is an old house (riad). We had two people in our party that needed either a cane or crutches so this was difficult for them.

If you're from North America, chances are you'll be questioning whether your taxi driver dropped you off in the right spot. Although the neighborhood has a cultural charm to it, you'll feel as though Indiana Jones will be racing by in a cart, knocking down the food carts and kiosks in a scene set in the 1930s. You'll need to find your way down an alley to the hotel - during which you'll promptly be targeted by a "government" tourist greeter (don't believe 'em!) who says they're paid by the Moroccan government to assist tourists - then tries to sell you on tours and assistance. When you decline, he suddenly asks for donations. We did not feel threatened, just harassed (this does not pertain directly to the riad, just to the neighborhood it's located in - LOTS of "touts", all trying to sell guided tours of the Medina...so be forewarned.) Once you reach the hotel and get beyond it's outer doors (after ringing a doorbell for entrance), you'll find a charmingly refurbished building, decorated in Andalusian style, with a nice, bright courtyard area. It feels like Morocco, so its enjoyable from a cultural perspective. However, this is far from a 4-star hotel by North American standards. It would most likely get a 1.5 or 2 star rating there. While the design is captivating, the amenities are not. The furniture in the room is stained, scratched, crooked, torn (see some of the photos I'll post), and the lighting is VERY poor (not good if you're planning to do any remote work on a computer). Doors to our room did not lock - and we were simply told "not to worry" about it. There is no heating, other than a small space heater (which was akin to holding your hands toward a stove burner). My wife froze (our stay was in November), and couldn't wait to leave. Although the host was very kind and helpful, he will push to sell you meals. Please insist on seeing the menu and prices first, and don't make our mistake - thinking it would be local prices with a kind and gracious host. It is, in my opinion, an effort to shake the money from your pockets before you can spend it elsewhere. My wife and I had supper there, with a cheap bottle of red wine, and were charged almost $100 for it. Great meals at white-linen restaurants can be enjoyed for $7 each within a 5-minute walk. So be very aware of "stupid tourist" games. Also be aware that extra "local" taxes will be charged to you upon departure that are not discussed in advance. It'll amount to about an extra 10% of your bill, whether you've prepaid or not. The host, Mohammed, will also persistently try to sell you tours, including day trips to nearby Meknes - which you can visit yourself, it's a cheap, 20-minute train ride away. In short, if you're not willing to pay 4-star prices for 2-star amenities, you're best to look elsewhere. It's worth spending an extra $20 night for a true 4- or 5-star experience, where the hotel keepers don't try to game you. I just hate the feeling of being exploited as a tourist, and I hope my comments can save other travelers from the same experience. It's unfortunate to have to be skeptical of the friendliness of strangers when traveling...it really, really is. But experience teaches.

Dar al Andalous Riad is the perfect stay, if you visit Morocco! The location is perfect, because you can visit the medina by walk. Then, the food is local and really good. Special mention to Olaya! ;) The rooms are also well designed in an authentic frame. I highly recommend this place, if you’re looking for a peaceful and traditional place!

We were pleased with this Riad, although we would have appreciated if it was non-smoking. The water had a funny smell to it, but this is apparently endemic to the Fes Medina region. The hosts were spectacular and extremely attentive to our needs at all times.

Husband & wife owners do NOT care about keeping this property nice - VERY rundown. Air con was broken in our room & had to be fixed (moved to a different room for the 1st night & bathroom wasn't properly stocked), rooftop deck dirty & broken furniture, tiles on step to dining room broken. Ladders laying around in hallway & on stairs. Whole place felt neglected - BEWARE photos on Expedia are VERY OLD. We would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone. Only good thing was the location within the Media but there are PLENTY of other Riads to choose from. Staying at this one was VERY disappointing (we were in Morocco a month & stayed at lovely places everywhere else).

This was a great place to stay for exploring Fez. Everyone at the riad was helpful, friendly and accommodating. The first room we were given was not ideal for us, but we were able to change to a room which suited us better, thanks to the helpful and understanding staff. The food was excellent, particularly the wonderful dinners. Most visitors were only staying for a couple of nights, but we were there for a week and could therefore appreciate just how good this riad was. We felt completely at home.

The courtyard riad has a beautiful charm with a comfortable and nice dining area. The staff was helpful in arranging a full day tour for us in and about Fes and making airport transportation arrangements back to Casablanca for us. Few suggestions which I shared with the owner, smoking in the lobby and in rooms is not a pleasant smell for guests that don’t smoke.

Very easy to find (10 minute petit taxi 30 dirham to batha sq & walk for 2 minutes). A little tired, but spectacular Riad with beautiful, original tiles and windows throughout. Stayed in the batha room, a good size with a great semi private terrace. In room safe was not working, turning on the heating made the room smell sweaty, private bathroom is down one flight of stairs and had sporadic warm/hot water. Not in the heart of the Medina which we liked, easier to find, less intimidating. Construction across the street starts at 8.30am and ends when the sun goes down. Just pouring foundations in Feb 2019, so likely to be going on for awhile

The entrance hall and dining room were a beautiful space, which imcreased our excitement for our room. It was the end of ou trip, so we decided to book a better Hotel. The first room we got was a lot smaller than we expected. It was small, hair in the bathroom and no shower curtain. On the website it stated that we would have a safe and fridge in the room, whdoch we really wanted. Hence why we asked zhr next day shere fridge and safe were. Staff eas really polite and said we cpuld have another room, if we don't mind a double bed. We agreed and were happy with the service. Arriving at the second room later that day we had fridge and safe and a bigger room with a terrace. Horwever it was even dustier. Hair on the sheets. Bathroom looked grose and the matress was old. Air con did not work and the teracce looked like it has been a building site with pieces of wood in the corner. We were not able to stand up in the bathroom. I am 173cm so it isn't too much to ask for to stand straight while brushing your teeth and not showering kneeling. We don't want to critise everything. The staff was expectional. Cleaning staff and Rachid were most wonderful and very helpful throughout. The Riad haad a great breakfast. We felt very angry throughout our stay. The owner lied to us and said the guests before took the key with them and will post it, so we receive it the next day. It never srrivedand we found out, that the room was never used and we were lied to. This made us were uncomfortable.

This place has the potential to be the best riad in Fes. The setting, the location, the building and the atmosphere is just amazing. Here are the problems: We asked for two separate beds but we were given one double bed (they called it a king but it was a double (137 cm x 187 cm size) and not a king size. The plumbing in our shower was broken. They tried to temporarily fix it but it was never fixed, so we were not able to take a decent shower for our four nights of stay. Don't be fooled by the images of the rooftop amenities. A layer of dust all over the furniture and no service on the rooftop. The owner is a nice guys but very cheap. Anything you want, even a box of tissues, you have to ask for it. TV (we didn't care much for watching it but it is advertised as an amenity) was broken in the room. We asked for the key to the safe several times (again advertised on the website included in a room), was never given to us. Breakfast is very very basic comparing to other places, no eggs or protein. The staff is really nice and accommodating but I received a very awkward hug from the gentleman helping with our bags on our way out right after I tipped him. I felt very uncomfortable. NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL.

The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, they really did treat us like family. One time we were looking into going to a show and we couldn't find information online, so the manager called around and found us a place, and he even told one of the staff members to walk us there because it is easy to get lost in Fes. However, I have to say that the website and the main page of the riad are somewhat misleading. It says on their website that they have transportation to the airport and they did not. We had to pay $13 euro to get there and another 13 to go back. They also said they had a terrace, and there is a picture with a nice view on the website, but in fact they never offered us to go there and when we found it it was dirty and not prepared for guests. Also, at the end of the stay, they charged us 10 extra Euro and they said it was a "tax" per person and per night, but we never saw that on the hotels.com site or their own website. So at the end we spent more money because of the misleading claims and the surprise tax. Other than that, the place is beautiful, and the staff are incredibly helpful and polite.

We stayed at this beautiful Dar for two nights. The staff were friendly and helpful, the grounds were immaculate and the location was perfect. We were only in Fez for one full day, so the owner - Mohammed -recommended a tour guide. Which he set up for us on the spot. We had dinner at the hotel one night which is our best meal in Morocco. Though the rooftop was being renovated, they still allowed us to sit and enjoy the beautiful view. We appreciated how friendly, helpful and genuinely kind the entire staff was. The daily breakfast was traditional and lovely, even our 3 and 6-year old enjoyed. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

We were greeted w mint tea and Zarah immediately helped us get our activities started. I had a Hammam done right in the Riad. Essentially the service is someone gives u a bath. This one was good and it did leave my skin soft. I've had better still. Owners of the Riad were friendly. Location was very good. I booked this hotel from the picture shown. The picture shown is at the top of the building but no service offered there such as drinks or food. Just a look out after going up 4 floors of steep spiral steps. A pretty picture but not a great surroundings. Empty buildings and burnt lot next to it. Your room is nice but getting to any room involves climbing very narrow spiral stone staircase steps. ( steep). Our room required ;more stone spiral staircase steps to go up to your bed. The bathroom was on the floor below. When arriving, the taxis stopped on the outer area. A ten minute walk from the taxis to the hotel. The hotel is located in the part of the city that does not allow vehicles. No mention of that "important" information in the advertisement. Tried to pay for a dinner via credit card. Their machine wasn't working so i had to pay in USA dollars.. The area is primitive which i like, but for the cost of the hotel, it was overpriced.

The hotel is fabulous of course with convenient location to Medina, train or the new town. But for me most important of all, It was the most amazing experience in hotel stays ever. I have stayed in Morocco for over two weeks and in Fes this place made me feel like I am home. The owner was the most generous man who has helped me throughout the trip and took me to the most amazing places in Fes and now has become the most precious friend I could ever ask for. And the wife is the most amazing cook possibly in Morocco who has been nothing but sweet and kind! I love the place absolutely and this is the only place to stay if you ever go to Fes and want to have not just an authentic beautiful hotel experience but also a welcoming local experience with the most generous and tasteful and friendly couple in the entire Fes.

The riad is beautiful. The owners were nice and very hospitable. We wanted more food for breakfast and they cooked more for us. We fell sick from food poisoning and they went out to get ingredients to cook for us and brought it up to our room. Hassan the Butler is amazing, humble, polite, thoughtful, kind-hearted and just a great person. The owners were husband and wife and both of them are amazing cooks. Their food is more expensive than the restraunts in the Medina but it is clean, healthy and delicious. Unlike most people we met in the medina in fes, you can trust them. The money I paid is definitely worth it because of their hospitality. But compared to other riads, you can get the same beauty for a cheaper price.

Beautiful place, but that's pretty much it. Dark and gloomy, spend some money on lighting and quit turning off all the lights constantly because part of what guests are paying for goes towards electric bill too. Management not very helpful or informative about anything, felt like money was the main interest vs providing good hospitality, didn't like being told to make sure and turn lights off, WAY overpriced meals for 250 MAD/person. Please invest in a new shower head. It is ridiculous to be in one of the nicest suites at the riad and not able to shower appropriately because water only comes out of a few of the 100 holes in the shower head that shoots out all over the bathroom except on the person trying to shower and there's no shower curtain so ended up having to strategically point the shower head towards the wall and showering from about 5 holes on one side of the shower head. I can't believe how this place has the ratings that are published, but I could see how a major change in how it is managed could bring it back to 4 stars in my opinion.

Very nice place to stay in. The place is beautiful but it could be a bit expensive. Probably a place more for people of ages 55 and up that carry lots of $$ with them. I did not try the food, I was afraid it would leave me broke. Since the place is gorgeous and the owner lives there, I felt like we were walking on eggshells. My own opinion which could defer from other opinions. The owner could get me a taxi to ChefChaouen for $1500 DH but I got mine for $700. There is where one can see what commission some places get..

In the Fez medina this is very difficult to find, telephone instructions did not really help. Street parking near hotel with 24 hour supervision was convenient. Laid back friendly atmosphere - not a business chain hotel! Arrived, left for a while in lounge courtyard, mint tea arrived, then owner, nice chat, eventually shown beautiful, indeed stunning room up tiny twisting stair, spacious, large decorative bed, arm chairs, table, bathroom with vast bath, refrigerator. Looked out on central courtyard of house, over dining area (there is a retracting roof high above). Dinner was elegantly served, food pleasant, healthy, and nicely presented, cost about £45.00 for 2 persons with 1/2 bottle of wine. (salad dishes, lemon chicken, orange slices)Everywhere was clean. Waiter got up early (5am) to let us out for out flight, escorted us to car which we much appreciated.

The same experience was at an eateries near Bab Bou Jeloud where a punter sat me down for an agreed 50 dirham meal. This however was not the case and I was charged a lot more. Bed sheets should be changed daily too!

the superior rooms on the first floor are slightly more pricey than the second floor rooms but it is worth the price. The super high ceiling, Moroccan decoration on ceiling, huge doors, and smaller doors in the big doors, guest receiving area inside the room, were all very charming. Morning breakfast was ok, there was some freshly made pancakes (Moroccan style), but one has to get used to seeing flies and ants around the food. Bathroom is very tiny, stand-in shower but not a problem. Neighborhood outside is not that pleasant but that's ok given that we did not roam around there instead we took off in our van. Courtyard area is also very pretty and traditional. The superior rooms open to the courtyard. I personally liked to take a moment and imagine what it would have been like a century ago when original people lived there.

5 minutes from the old Medina, near to drop off / pick up point for small red taxis and busses which are really cheap and efficient. Tranquil Dar / Riad / Hotel. Welcoming, helpful and friendly English speaking owner. All the staff were really friendly, understanding and attentive. Food was very good with menu everyday but we didn't try anywhere else, so can't compare. We enjoyed our stay at this very traditional Dar / Riad.

"Are you sure that's the correct street?", you'll almost certainly say to yourself as you pull up towards the hotel. Don't let the narrow, slightly desolate alley fool you though. The hotel is a masterpiece of a building and in easy walking distance of much of what Fes has to offer. Highly recommended.

Dar Al Andalous is truly wonderful - a beautiful oasis in the madness that is Fez. I've traveled extensively and can easily say that my stay at Dar Al Andalous was one of the best lodging experiences I've ever had. Mohammed and his wife go above and beyond to ensure guests have everything they need. Sightseeing was great and then coming home to such friendly people who took a real interest in us made for a wonderful Fez experience. Lastly, while I rarely eat meals in my hotel as they're typically overpriced and / or mediocre quality, the dinner we had at Dar Al Andalous was our best in 9 days in Morocco. Incredible pastilla and soup. Everything is 100% fresh - they make it to order. I could go on and on about this Riad but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Generally speaking, the riad is well maintained. Nice owners and foods. Except: Dogs were barking the whole night. But, owner allowed me changed to a quite room. Also, I was supposed to have a breakfast at 6 o'clock in the morning for a 7AM train. But, nobody was there. Front door was also locked and I was forced to find a key from the outside wall of kitchen to open it.

We stayed only one night. It is in the Medina and our mini van was not allowed down there so we needed a wagon to get our luggage to hotel as we were four persons with four big suitcases. The room was clean with a typical Moroccan breakfast. Location is close to major tourist attractions and most of them could be reached by walking. Being in the medina the surroundings are gloomy but this is expected for location and price of hotel. Not bad if you are on a budget.

My husband and I were extremely impressed with this riad. The level of quality service and care we received from the owner and his staff was incomparable. If you have the chance you should definitely stay here. The riad itself was beautiful and well maintained. The medina is very close by which makes it a good launching spot for the sights in Fes.

We wanted to stay in a Riad in the Fes old Medina and Dar Al Andolous met our needs fully. After spening time in Marrakech we were a bit concerend that the Riad would be located in the inner streets of the Medina (a challenge to find and haul luggage), but luckily the Andalous Riad was located in the Batha area of the Medina where car access was convineint and ingress/egress were a breeze. The Riad is also close to just about everything ones needs to visit in the Old Medina section plus food outlets. Recommended.

My boyfriend and I traveled to Morocco and had not really planned much of our trip past our first night in Marrakech. When we decided to head up to Fez, we looked on hotels.com and found this gem! We did not realize how long the train ride to Fes would be and when we finally got there, we took a taxi (which got lost--so just tell them to take you to the Blue Gate and it's very close from there) and Hasan (one of the Riad staff) was there waiting at the end of the street for us. He really was an amazing staff member--always helpful, always willing to go out of his way for us. Zara was amazing too. She really helped us out by giving us tips for the city and also for day excursions. She set up a car rental for us when we decided to head to Merzouga and when we returned, she set up the return of the car for us. The owners are also amazing people and we loved the ambiance of this Riad. We felt like we were staying in a palace! Our last night there, we had dinner and by far it was the best meal we had our entire trip. The pastillas were so good that we ordered them to go before we caught a train back to Marrakech. The location is perfect for going into the medina, but the real beauty in this place are the people who work there. We felt safe and we felt we could trust them. If we ever come back to Fes, this is the only place we would stay.

Couldn't of asked for a better experience than the one received at this Riad. The owners were so welcoming and offered all kinds of advice, both for visiting the city as well as the rest of our trip. The accommodations were 5 star, room included a balcony and bed was extremely comfortable. Food and drinks served in the lobby/living room on the first level were great. Would most definitely return.

Our stay was terrific. The riad was traditional Moroccan style and very beautiful. The staff and owner were very hospitable. The meals were excellent! No need to go out to eat when you could get the best meals in Fez right at the riad. It was a true dining experience. If we return to Fez we will certainly book at the Al Andalous.

We very much enjoyed this hotel. It's a beautiful building and the rooms were great. The location, just inside the Medina is perfect, close enough to the core of the Medina for easy exploring but near enough the periphery that getting there by cab was simple too. The owner was helpful as we tried to work around some scheduling problems.

Gorgeous Riad...really stunning. Staff very helpful and generous. They offered us a drink each night when we returned and gave us an upgrade our last night to a suite. Only complaint is that the first day there was not any hot water (barely warm actually) but that was corrected. Highly recommended. Also, I would suggest arranging a pick up from the train station or airport because, as with many Riads, it is not easy to find, even when taking a taxi. Our taxi driver had to call the Riad and even then we were dropped off a block or so from the Riad.

The stay was pleasant and the staff polite and helpful. The owner spoke very good english and was very helpful. The hotel has 11 room, but there was only one other guest during our time so it was very quiet. If you are looking for a peaceful and private place recommend this hotel; if you are looking for a pool, bar, etc, look elsewhere. Breakfast was served every morning at the time you requested and appeared to be traditional. The staff asked us each day if we wanted dinner, but we passed as we were out and about until late in the evening shopping in the medina. The hotel is approximately a 30 minute taxi ride from the airport and the hotel was hard for the taxi driver to find. Would recommend that you contatc the hotel for the hotel to arrange for a taxi. Speaking of taxi's, most taxi drivers were challenging in the aspect of wanting to charge outrageous prices; they did not want to use the taxi meter. Definately recommend bargaining with the drivers and would recommend countering for half the quoted fare. Hotel is approximately a seven minute walk from the Blue Gate and shopping medina. Would recommend hiring a guide for a half day tour of Fes and the medina cost is between 150 to 250 moroccian or Euro 12,00 to 25,00. Lastly, be prepared to pay approximately Euro 5,00 per day upon check out in addition to the quoted hotel rate. Again, over-all the Riad was nice and quiet.

This is a beautiful traditional hotel with charming and helpful staff, who cannot do enough to try to make your stay enjoyable. However, like may riads it is cold in the winter, particularly in the dining area. The rooms vary in their attractiveness, some being quite breathtakingly lovely and recently redecorated, while others are in need of refurbishment. Although the hotel is near the major points of interest, the immediate area is very run down. I would recommend it very strongly to travellers for whom a beautiful and historic setting, together with helpful and welcoming staff are of the most importance.

Placed just outside the medina this Riad is well situated for visiting the medina and getting taxis. This is a family run hotel and called a Riad. Do not expect hotel chain standards. You will need to ask for a specific requirements and not assume you can just automatically get what you want. Eg.milk, juice, loo rolls have to be planned for. They will arrive but not as quickly as you might think as the staff may have to go and purchase items requested. The entrance is up an alleyway and has an uninspirational frontage. Once inside you discover mosaic walls and carved woodwork. It has beautiful architecture and the appearance is impressive. The staff were eager to please. The waiters nodded positively even if they couldn't understand us. This gave rise to some interesting interpretations. Unfortunately if things went a little askew angry shouting would take place in Arabic. We found the atmosphere this created slightly uncomfortable. We found it difficult to get hot water without wasting a great deal of cold. I had cold showers to try and limit the waste of water, but it rendered the jacuzzi, we paid extra for, useless. As we were not prepared to waste the tub of cold to refill a tub of hot. There is no lift and the staircase is steep and winding. A member of staff carried our cases up and down the stairs. The manager and proprietor are both keen to promote their Islamic faith and will keep you talking on the subject.

The hotel is very difficult to find - cab drivers and people in the neighborhood did not know it, the map on their website is inadequate and there are no signs that point to the hotel until you come to their front door! It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the outer edge of the medina; you can find many better hotels that are closer. Our room was small and VERY DARK, with little natural light. The lights in the room were very dim and one of them did not even work. The whole atmosphere was very gloomy and depressing. The bathroom was small and cramped; the shower was on top of the bathtub with no shower curtain, which means that the water splashed all over the bathroom when anybody had a shower. I slipped and nearly fell when having a shower standing on a narrow, slippery bathtub. Staff were never around, phones were not answered and there is only one woman who spoke English on their staff; she was not there during much of our stay! Breakfast was PATHETIC - both in terms of quality and quantity. Only ONE glass of orange juice is served and a request for a second cup of coffee is met with a long face! Although our room was prepaid, we had to pay for tax and some drinks - we were told that unless the charge was more than US$125 it had to be paid in cash and no credit cards could be used. We did not have so much money in local currency, so this was a huge hassle just when we were checking out. Overall a very disappointing experience for a hotel that cost more than $130!

If you're looking for a authentic Riad, this is the place to stay. It is located ony a few minutes walk from the Medina and close to Batha Museum which has a wonderful courtyard to sit in. We arrived just before 1am and were greeted by Rachid the hotel porter. He was kind enough to make us some hot milk and a light snack as we were hungry after the stopover. We stayed in the wonderful Mezzanine suite which was ideal as it separated the first floor bedroom area from my son sleeping downstairs. The bathroom was spacious and original in style. The hotel is situated in the Old Town and you can easily access the rest of Fez from here. Breakfast is served freshly cooked when you come down and is enough to keep you full well after lunch time. We ate in the hotel on the first evening and the food was excellent, in fact the best we have had, considering we are well travelled in morrocco The hotel manager and assistant manager ( Zahra) are very helpful in making your stay as comfortable as possible and speak good English. Zahra was always close to hand for any advice we needed which was a great comfort as not many people spoke English in the town. Zahra was also kind enough to liase with the airport as we had lost our luggage on the transit flight. Our flight on the way back home was at 6am and the chef's prepared breakfast for us at 2.30am!! Wonderful service! We have no hesitation in recommending the Dar Al Andalous - Riad to anyone staying in Fes as we had a lovely time!

I would highly recommend Dar Al Andalous if you are planning a trip to Fez. It's location is perfect for exploring the old city and I doubt if you will find a more beautiful riad in Fez.. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful even arranging a trip to the Meknes area. The stay at Dar Al Andalous was 1st class. However, the experience of the souks in Fez was ruined by the leech like behaviour of the stall and shop owners whose tactics included following you, grabbing your elbow and pleading to come look inside. The slightest gaze at anything on display produced a sales attack the would make a double glazing salesman blush. The intrusive intensity meant that the only way to avoid this was to hurry past and not even bother to look, avoiding eye contact at all times. The outcome was of course that I bought absolutely nothing. They need to regulate this behaviour and should look towards Marrakech for how to do this successfully. WARNING : Another extremely disconcerting phenomenon are the young men that immediately accost you as soon as you show the slightest hesitancy in direction. They offer to show you the way saying they want to practice their english / german / italian. Even saying no, they will follow you regardless. If you give in, you will end up where you do not want to be (their uncles shop for example) where you will be put upon to pay them for their "guide services" and to buy something. Be very firm at the outset and do not proceed or let them tag along.

It is a somewhat difficult to explain this hotel. Imagine camping in a luxury hotel. The services are there - just not always comfortable and convenient. There is little sense of privacy as all the rooms face an inner courtyard (one morning I asked why my wake up "knock" did not come - there are no phones in the rooms - and I was told that the staff already knew I was awake) - and when there are few guests in the hotel (as our first night there) the place can be downright creepy. Still it is an interesting, beautifully restored Moroccan home, complete with charming narrow hallways and passages, a few lovely terraces, and exquisite detailed woodwork. The meals were traditional and exceptional (we had all dinners here during out stay in Fes) and the staff are remarkably attentive - though it is best to know some French or Arabic in order to see to it that your requests are understood and honored. The toiletries are of mediocre quality, and the towels and bathrobes grayed and thin - still the beds are comfortable, the sheets good, and the rooms are interestingly furnished. Note: this hotel is not recommended for people who have trouble with stairs - it is a long climb up narrow and rail-less stairways to many of the rooms and bathrooms. Also, be wary of the tour guides recommended by the hotel - ours was troublesome, as was the recommended guide used by our friends. Make sure you express clearly what you want to see and visit and what you don't - ask where it is appropriate to take photographs or not - and if you are not interested in shopping - make that clear (though your request will likely be ignored). This hotel is recommended for the adventure but be prepared to do a bit of roughing it.

The hotel was SO beautiful and calm, like an Oasis in a desert sort of speaking. Well located, on a quiet and clean street but close to the medina interesting streets and markets (not so clean and definetly not so quiet...). Good service, nice breakfast and dinner, very helpful staff and excellent hamman in house!

Please don't go to Fez and not stay in a Riad, it is the highlight of the trip and the Riad Dar Al Andalous is a great choice. It is located in the medina, near the museum and blue gate with an easy walk to other sites, restaurants etc. When you are in the Riad, the staff and owners will make you feel like you are family, and the meals at night are fantastic, 5 star quality, you should eat in at least once. The building is wonderfully restored and a trip to the roof is worth the climb.
