As I have said in previous reviews, when it comes to accommodation it is not only about well painted/decorated walls etc. Our stay was amazing, the staff extremely friendly and helpful, and the riad is an experience everyone should have when visiting Morocco. It is a 250 years old Riad with spacious rooms, very clean, tha restaurant is really nice with a traditional menu which really loved it. If we ever come back to Fes it will be our first choice. Thank you for having us and for everything you did for us.

Right inside the center of the old city near the tannery and inside gate. Parking outside gate on street attendant helped with bags arriving and leaving long walk.

Beautiful getaway in a 19th century mansion...eating meals on the terrace overlooking the city is ideal. Staff is very friendly, the common areas are stunning & the breakfasts are delicious.

The Riad Arabesque is an old institution in Fez. Celebrities such as Usher, Brad Pitt and George Clooney have all stayed here and it is clear why. The staff are making sure that you feel like you are staying at the house of someone you know rather than at a hotel. It is a personal and genuine experience in all aspects that I can highly recommend.

Be very careful with this place. The owner works in conjunction with unofficial “guides” who take you to the medina and make hefty commissions on overpriced artisan items. The Riad itself, while aesthetically pleasing on first glance, is severely run down. It smells of mold, is full of huge roaches and has a lot of cosmetic damage and disrepair. Their website advertises a 60 euro massage and hamman as well as childcare. Upon my appointment I learned that there is no childcare and was charged 70 euro (mind you my children were in the room throughout treatment, not exactly the relaxing hour I had planned). The “massage therapist” is not trained and lacks understanding of human anatomy or basic massage technique. The icing on the cake happened after checkout. I prepaid for my 3 night stay over $319. I paid my overcharged 70 euro roach infested spa experience, I requested and paid my final bill after breakfast of over $75 (and conveniently their credit card machine was not working, welcome to Fes). I used her driver to depart. She had the driver pull over on the side of the road with 2 other men and hold my children and I hostage for 40 minutes until she arrived demanding money she claimed I owed her. They would not let us go until I paid her a lousy $30. Her driver then demanded our U.S. passports at which point things took a bigger turn for the worse. I have a case filed against all the people involved including the Riad owner who orchestrated the event. Dangerous people.

Incredible design but some areas need to be updated. Staff were very helpful. Stayed in December so it was quiet but it was very cold in the dining area inside. The staff tried to heat it with gas heaters and they helped us despite our late arrival. It was good and I would stay again but if they updated the bathrooms etc it could be incredible

We booked 3 rooms with a very high price tag and this was by far the worst hotel experience in Morocco, This is not even a 2 stars rather than 5 stars. Ac was broken, the toilets dirty and leaking, towels with rips, and to top it off the management is very aggressive and don't care to even listen. we are frequented travelers and we will NOT be able to recommend this place even to our enemies and tight how bad this is.

They were very accomediating in every way and collaborative. Highly recommend it.

Leider!

Riad Arabesque was overall a nice Riad. We really enjoyed the food and service during our stay. We had dinner there our first night which was delicious and huge portions, as well as the complimentary breakfast each day which was superb. The cleanliness left a little to be desired, I think a combination of laundry by hand and age of the hotel make it seem less clean than it really is. We also had a cockroach in our tub, but the house is more than a 100 years old and you’re in the middle of the Medina, so that could probably happen anywhere. We booked a double room, not realizing that it didn’t mean just a double size bed, but two rooms. Only the room with the two twin beds had an ac where as the room with a king did not and we were very hot. They were kind and brought us a second fan which definitely helped. The service and owners were lovely.

The Hotel has bedbugs. The sheets had a trace of bloods which I did not pay much of an attention to until I went to sleep - killed myself 3 bedbugs and had to wake up the administrator in the middle of the night as my sleep was ruined. When complained about the bedbugs the reply was " you did not close the window". Although the property is beautiful, I would recommend to stay away from the hotel. In addition, the staff does not speak English much which complicates the communication.

Very lovely hotel with nice finishing touches on the public areas and rooms. Booked two rooms for our family and loved that they gave us adjoining rooms without any prodding besides one email (which wasn't responded to). Google maps got us real close to the hotel, then a random guy in the Medina rode with us on the dirt road that gets us to the hotel at the side of the Medina. Great free private parking. There is a separate door that connects the hotel to to interior of the Medina and lots of nice kids nearby to direct you where to go. The 2 hotel staff manager ppl looked really tired when we arrived late afternoon. They were not outwardly friendly. They served us tea and took care of our tour request but not smiley... There wasn't any hot water at night, but it came in strong the next morning. I would recommend this place

Riad Arabesque was the absolute perfect Riad for our stay in Fez. It has access directly into the Medina from the ground floor, but also sits upon a hill so that you actually have an incredible view of the mountains and the medina itself from the terrace. It was a wonderful spot to be able to step away from the madness of the medina (since it is on the very edge) but also have access to all the activity. The Riad was beautiful, almost like a mosque inside. Incredible tiles, colors, fountains and interior detailing. The terrace for meals is charming and romantic (one of my favorite spots at the riad), and the inside area for dinner is decorated beautifully with Moroccan decor. All the staff were incredibly accommodating and so lovely. The dinner we had at the Riad one night was one of our favorite meals out of all the meals we had in Morocco. Everything about this place was wonderful. We will definitely be returning to Riad Arabesque for our next visit to Fez!

Horrible. The worst was the condition of the hotel; it is in very very bad condition. It is situated in a good location but it is very outdated. Also don't expect any concierge services or even ask a question because you would be denied!

Special place! M/nite pick-up at airpt for small fee. Recvd. by owners downstairs over back o/ramparts driveway, up tiled stairs to main level, another world. Over wine made acquaintance, settled prelims. Up to room through the 3 story atrium with pool & steep tiled stairs. Colorfully tiled bedrm & bathrm, each suite individual, w/all common hotel amenities. Here breakfast does not have to be between certain hours, you can be barefoot or wear pajamas. Like in a lge family home w/exotic spaces, artifacts. Brkfst on lovely lge terrace overlooking parts of Fez, vegetation, birds in all tongues, neighborhood cats watching your every bite, breads, eggs your style, plenty of coffee, yoghurt, fruit, juices, etc., incld.. With a known guide through the medina, not for the fainthearted. Entr. medina side, car entrance outside ramparts. A simple couscous. A nap in my clean, freshly made-up room. Mid eve into the lovely courtyard & salons with some visitors & hotel clients. Drinks, spontaneous interaction, conversations. Wonderful nighttime atmosphere. Waiter & room staff gentle, discrete, yet open to conversation, French, some English, the hands, smiles. Don't look for tidiness in public areas, yet exotic opulence of collected treasures, lounges, terrace, much open air, fragrant trees. Subdued music, birds, cats, low voices. Food excellent/honest, served w/care, simplicity. Comfort, slowness of pace, time stands still in exotic, yet simple style.

The Riad Arabesque was lovely. The staff was super attentive and helpful; they recommended restaurants, a tour guide, and helped us with transportation. The food was good, the view was great. There's really nothing negative to say about our experience here. It's a little bit of a walk from the parts of the Medina that you'll want to visit as a tourist, but if a half-mile walk is a problem for you, you might want to consider not visiting Fez in the first place...

This riad is an alternative to a hotel that I strongly recommend to experience something different in Morocco, but the facilities and services need to be improved. They overbooked so we had to spend the first night somewhere else in a hotel. The food is excellent but room service is deficient. Also, there is no gym and pool like they advertise.

A very pretty riad with a 'warm welcome' to match...and a lovely mint tea! Attentive staff. Friendly owners; and they have provided me with everything I need (a guide, airport shuttle, train info etc.) without a hassle. The Riad itself is within the Medina, the old town, which was perfect for me as it is the area I wanted to explore the most. It is a quiet part of the Medina. However, you do need a (cheap) taxi 🚕 ride to get to the centre. I came during Ramadan, and it was therefore quiet, so I was lucky to have been given a Junior Suite. Room was great. Breakfast on the terrace was plentiful; not fry up but rather a healthier, traditional option. Love the freshly squeezed orange juice; and you are rewarded with a beautiful view of the Medina. They're in the process of adding a spa service to the property. So no guessing where I'll be staying the next time I'm in Fès! 😊

The Riad is absolutely beautiful with lovely patios and courtyards to enjoy. Staff was very hospitable, picking us up late from our train and making our stay very welcoming. This Riad was supposed to be a 5 star establishment..... Upon arriving at the Riad with the complimentary driver, we had to wait several minutes in the alley outside the door before someone showed up to let us in. I was then invited to come into the lounge area of the Riad and was struck by the musty smell which permeated the entire space. The owners of the Riad then appeared and took me to my room which was in a second courtyeard area. I was struck by the shabbiness of the slipcovers, cushions and window treatments in the room. They were soiled and had seen better days. As well, the air-conditioner in the room made an awful noise preventing me from a good night's sleep for two nights. If only the owners would spend $ to refurbish this Riad, it would be striking and fully deserve a 5 star rating, as the furniture and artwork are outstanding and they had obviously put a lot of effort initially to make this a highly desirous Riad to stay at.

A wonderful stay in a fabulous traditional Moroccan riad. Extremely friendly and helpful owners and staff, especially Younis who looked after us so well. Great breakfasts with selection of breads, fresh orange juice, coffee and omelettes. Fairly limited menu for dinner but beautifully cooked tagines. Owners arranged a guide for the Medina, a trip to a hammam and a trip to Meknes and Volubilis - all were excellent, worthwhile experiences. If you want to escape the impersonal hotel and enjoy some real Moroccan hospitality this is the perfect place to stay.

I booked 7 double rooms and they only had 5 ready for us the other 2 rooms were in other ryad but that was not the worst part . At check-out the lady in charge of the ryad accused us that we had stolen a jylabah (dress) from a room and before we came out from the door she open every luggage from the group to check for it . This is an insult to all of us !!!!

We arrived late at night. The car met us at the airport on time. The owners were awake to greet us upon our arrival. So sweet. I reserved the regular room but was happily surprise that they put us in the Royal Suite. This Riad is really a Dar and has tons of true Moroccan character. The next morning we had another surprise for breakfast. The waiter brought out two plates of bread...and then...two more...and then two more... I think we ended up with a total of 9 types of breads and crepes, fresh juice, a tanjine of eggs, coffee, tea. We ate dinner in the riad one night and had the same experience with the salads. We ordered salad for two and they brought out 8 or 9 different types of deliciously spiced salad combos. Everything was delightful along with the Fleur D'Orange water to refresh our hands after dinner. The room was nice and had a large private bathroom up a small staircase.

Real character Breakfast and dinner on the terrace was very nice Nice pool Efficient airport pick up Pleasant staff Good food Negatives At far end of the Medina - a fair way from other restaurants and a devil to find on foot No front door key so you had to ring a bell to be let in No tea making facilities in rooms (contra to what Expedia says)

The Riad has great character; ornate open areas, terrace and plunge pool. The Junior Suit was impressive albeit the bathroom was like too hot and with no ventilation. Some minor improvements could be made including repairing the Television (only noticed as Olympics week and wanted to catch up in the evening). Location is both an advantage and disadvantage as on the edge of the Medina making it an ideal launching pad yet means that you are ‘helped’ almost a soon as you enter the street! Would recommend though! French is the second language and for many English is not spoken at all. It is possible to get by with a little spoken French yet not so sure that NO French would be much fun. Visiting during Ramadan isn’t easy unless you are similarly happy to fast during the day and August is very hot.

We appreciated the hotel took us in at 2am we arrived from Casablanca after 3hours ride but they claimed us how long they waited at airport etc...although they were the one didn't picked up the phone calls I made more than 7times when I tried to heads-up about airplane issue. The architecture was great and terrace was nice to have breakfast but sadly, the facility smelled cat's urine...Overall, only the odor is the reason I have to take some points off. The building was really nice that's no doubt.

The hotel was richly decorated with moroccan artifacts. One got absorbed in the elaborate and beautiful design of islamic architecture. Excellent staffs and service. Very good food. Safety was a real concern walking through the dark alleys leading to the hotel, especially at night. Beware of faux guides and hustlers hiding in the corners. Once you got through the unpleasant passages into the hotel, it was a different world.

This is beautifully decorated Riad located in the Medina not far away from Sofitel. But from room comfort and service quality point of view, it is quite far away from the adjacent 5 star Sofitel. Its room comfort level is maximum 3 star. (For example even the TV did not work in our room.) There was some construction work going on in parts of the hotel. I don't know if they were trying to control the heating cost or it was just the Riad did not have a good heating system, you felt cold in the hotel. The lady managing the hotel was in overcoat with a heavy scarf around her neck all the time. Her cold attitude did not help either. The hotel is accessible by car and has a parking lot in the back. But you need to ask the hotel to guide you in.

This hotel was amazing. The rooms are great and very comfortable, with a cultural appeal. I can't say enough about the quality of the staff...they truly made the stay for us. They were incredibly hospitable and accommodating. They also arranged tours and guides for us at reasonable ratea. And the food at the hotel, while expensive, was delicious. And from talking to other tourists, the food has the reputation of being the best in town. Breakfast was included with the room, which was a nice addition as well.

When we checked-in, they kindly upgrade us to Royal Suite which was very nice. Hotel staff were extremely kind and helpful and we can't say thank you enough to them. I was sick last day of my holiday but they came to bring some herb tea, checked if I was ok. I would recommend eating in sometimes. We had the best Harira so far in Morocco. Also the breakfast is traditional and will last you the whole day. We left with very memorable experience. Well done, Amina, Bouchra, Hocine, Fatima.....

This was my first experience with a reservation made through Expedia. The lack of an on-line reception desk, and the resultant delay to confirm my reservation, left me feeling a bit uneasy. (Would I and my wife have to confront the maze of streets and multitude of "guides" in the Medina again?) The room we had was very spacious, but the bathroom was only accessible through a narrow stairwell going up to another level. The bathroom was also very spacious. The hand rail in the stair well was not firmly fixed to the wall. As such, it was a worry for two senior citizens. There are no elevators in the hotel. To get to your room, one must climb stairs reminescent of those in Europe´s castle towers. The food served by the hotel is very well prepared and the dining area is comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

We had the best food in our entire trip in this hotel. The hotel staff were WONDERFUL! They were like family. "This is your home!" they would tell us. A beautiful, beautiful hotel. If you've never been to a riad, this is where you should go!
