In notoriously expensive Milan, this excellent small hotel mere steps away from Milano Centrale provides real value for money. The rooms are simply furnished but spotless and very comfortable, and there are thoughtful extras like a mini-refrigerator with free nonalcoholic drinks and water. Service is very responsive and quick. My room deal did not include breakfast, but a generous and very tasty breakfast buffet could be had at a very reasonable price. The hotel is located on a well-lit street and I felt safe coming and going. Highly recommended.

**Zimmer:** Sauber und zweckmässig, für einen Städtetrip absolut ausreichend. Für mich klar einer der positiven Punkte des Hotels. **Lage:** Sehr gute Lage in unmittelbarer Nähe des Hauptbahnhofs Milano Centrale. Viele Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants sind gut erreichbar, und auch die Anbindung an den öffentlichen Verkehr ist ausgezeichnet.
Cons: Wir haben das Hotel Berna aufgrund der vielen positiven Bewertungen ausgewählt. Positiv hervorheben möchte ich das sehr gute und vielfältige Frühstücksbuffet, die kostenlosen Getränke in der Minibar sowie das Upgrade, über das ich mich sehr gefreut habe. Auch mehrere Mitarbeitende habe ich als freundlich, hilfsbereit und kundenorientiert erlebt. Leider wurde dieser positive Eindruck durch mehrere Vorfälle während meines Aufenthalts stark beeinträchtigt. Anlass war eine kurze Auseinandersetzung im Zusammenhang mit meiner Kollegin, die selbst als Gast im Hotel registriert war. Im weiteren Verlauf kam es zu einer aus meiner Sicht völlig unverhältnismässigen Reaktion eines Mitarbeiters, einer Drohung mit der Polizei sowie zur bewussten Unterbrechung der Stromversorgung meines Zimmers. Zudem wurde mir eine Sicherheitsregel bezüglich des Zimmerschlüssels fälschlicherweise als verbindliches Verbot dargestellt. Ich habe mich daraufhin ausführlich an die Direktion gewandt. Positiv bewerte ich, dass das Hotel die Vorfälle intern untersucht und in seiner Antwort mehrere Fehler seiner Mitarbeitenden ausdrücklich eingeräumt hat. Das Hotel bestätigte insbesondere, dass die Stromabschaltung bewusst veranlasst wurde, dass die Schlüsselregel falsch kommuniziert wurde und dass das Verhalten der beteiligten Mitarbeitenden nicht den eigenen Standards von Professionalität und Gastfreundschaft entsprach. Trotz dieser letztlich konstruktiven Reaktion bleibt bei mir ein sehr negativer Eindruck zurück. Ich bin international reiseerfahren und komme je nach Jahr auf etwa 10 bis 15 Hotelaufenthalte. Eine auch nur annähernd vergleichbare Erfahrung habe ich bisher noch nie gemacht. Meine Bewertung fällt deshalb trotz der vielen positiven Aspekte insgesamt negativ aus. Nicht die Existenz von Hotelregeln war für mich das Problem, sondern die Art und Weise, wie diese kommuniziert und durchgesetzt wurden.

Exceptional location near the central train station. The Little Italian restaurant next door was quite the surprise. Definitely an added bonus to staying at this facility. The happy hour with free food was delightful and quite reasonably priced. The drinks were not ridiculously expensive in the food was free.

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The location was excellent, making it easy to get around and visit the main attractions. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Hab netterweise ein Zimmer-Upgrade bekommen, danke nochmal! Klimaanlage und Ventilator waren bei den heißen Temperaturen ein Traum. Extrem ruhig, man hat nichts gehört, obwohl die Lage sehr zentral ist. Alles was man braucht ist in der näheren Umgebung. Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und die kostenlose Minibar im Zimmer ist toll! Wunderbar für einen Städtetrip ins schöne Mailand!

A very nice 4 star hotel, located next to the central location, very convenient and makes it easy to travel in the city and outside the city. Nice and clean rooms and bathrooms, the a/c worked great, and the complimentary mini bar is a lovely addition. The staff were very very nice, lovely and welcoming and helped us with everything we needed.
Cons: The hotel seems to be a bit old and it's quite noticeable, but it didn't affect our stay in any way.

Cons: Somente na hora do check in é que eu entendi que ocuparia um prédio separado do hotel, do outro lado da rua. Por estar sozinha, eu me senti um pouco insegura à noite. Além disso, para fazer o check out, tive que retornar com as malas ao prédio principal e isso não foi cômodo.

朝食が充実している。お部屋の冷蔵庫の飲み物が無料。ロケーションがいいが静か。バスタブがあったので、筋肉痛を癒す事ができた。リクエストに臨機応変に対応してくれた。特にチェックアウト後荷物を預けて外出したが、猛暑で熱中症気味になり、早めにホテルに戻り、荷物を受け取る前に休憩したいと申し出てバーでエスプレッソを注文したら、氷たっぷりの水を一緒に出してくれた心遣いがとても嬉しかった。また泊まります。
Cons: ミラノ全体の宿泊料金が爆上がりしてるので、ある程度覚悟してたけど、前回より値上がりが大きくて宿泊期間を短縮した。

Location, decent size room with good AC, and all the staff(different) consistently shows genuine hospitality and willingness to help with question or assistance. In our case, we have to leave our backpacks since our room is not ready and they leave messages for the next shift until we got our luggages late at night(airline lost our luggage).

Cons: We had to check in and walk across the street to a different location for our rooms. For cocktails or breakfast we had to go back to main hotel for those services. This was not disclosed when we booked months in advance. The price did not correspond to the quality of the hotel especially in a city like Milan.

Die Unterkunft ist für Reisende mit dem Zug sehr ideal, der Empfang war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Zu unserer grossen Freude, bekamen wir die beiden Zimmer im Haupthaus und dazu erst noch ein upgrade! Die Zimmer habe unsere Erwartungen übertroffen.

My wife & I stayed here with another couple (all of us early 70s) for five nights in May 2026. We chose it based on a recommendation in Rick Steves' travel book and were very pleased with our stay. It's on a relatively quiet street a few blocks from the central station, so it was easy to get everywhere we wanted to visit by metro or regional train (besides local sightseeing we took day trips to both Lake Como & Lake Maggiore). We stayed in the hotel annex building across the street; our rooms looked just like the photos on their website and were clean & well maintained. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly & helpful. Our rate included a very good breakfast buffet, and the hotel's free WiFi worked very well in our room.

This small hotel in Milan really checked all the boxes for our two night stay recently. It is easily walkable from the train station as well as the Metro stop. Our room was quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was huge, with a large bathtub and shower. What really stood out though was the front desk staff. They were very helpful, giving us directional advice as well as making a dinner reservation for one of our best dinners in the three week trip in Italy. Excellent!

Wspaniały hotel. Obsługa na najwyższym poziomie. Pani Polka na recepcji zrobiła nam dzień :) Hotel zlokalizowany bardzo blisko dworca głównego i stacji metra. Możliwość bezpłatnego zostawienia bagaży przed zameldowaniem. Byliśmy rodziną 2 + 1 i bardzo miło wspominamy ten pobyt.

I spent one week in this hôtel in June 2026 in order to visit Milan and the area. I can tell only very good things about the hôtel. The staff was very friendly, smiling, and give you some good adresses of restaurant, and places to visit. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and the breakfast was full of variety. I can just recommend this hôtel at 100% if you want to spend a few time in Milan.

Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Hotel war sauber. Das Hotel liegt sehr nahe beim Bahnhof und den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln. Es gibt viele gute Restaurants in der Strasse.

Very friendly staff on reception who gave me recommendations for places to eat in the evening. The hotel room had aircon which was welcome in the heat. The buffet in the bar was also good value. Breakfast was fantastic especially the cappuccino. I would definitely recommend Hotel Berna and hope to return next time I am in Milan. The hotel is 5 mins from Central station and metro station so it was easy to get into the centre of Milan and airport.

The location is super convenient if you need to be close to Milano Centrale, as it is really just around the corner from the station. I booked the Annex building, but was upgraded to the main building, so that I could enjoy the breakfast without any hustle. The room was nicely decorated in a traditional style, big enough for one person, and had a comfy bed. A candy on the pillow is always a very sweet touch 😊 I had a breakfast very early in the morning and it was ok, but probably may get crowded at the peak hours, as it is not big. The breakfast selection and the quality was excellent, and coffee service really fast and friendly.

We chose well in selecting Hotel Berna for our Milan adventure. The hotel is just steps from the Metro entrance and the main railway station, so it worked perfectly for our arrival, departure, and getting around the city. The breakfasts were robust...everything we wanted as Americans who like big breakfasts to get us started. The room was clean and efficient, and the front-desk staff pleasant and knowledgeable. I had to cancel my stay due to a documented cancellation of my international train connection and contacted the hotel approximately 8 hours before check-in and requesting either a cancellation or at least a postponement of the reservation for next day, with price adjustement. Even Booking.com, through which the reservation was made, agreed that the cancellation should be accepted without penalty. Despite this, the hotel refused any flexibility or reasonable solution. What is even more disappointing is that they charged not only the full room rate, but also some taxes, and even breakfast for a stay I was physically unable to reach because of circumstances entirely outside my control. This demonstrates a complete lack of customer care and understanding toward international travelers facing genuine transport disruptions. Policies are one thing, but basic fairness and professionalism should matter too. I would strongly advise future guests to think carefully before booking with a property that treats customers this way.

The only redeeming factor about the experience was the staff and the breakfast- both were fabulous.
Cons: I arrived after a long travel day and was looking forward to a hot shower. Sadly the hotel had plumbing issues and no water was available in the sink or shower. When it finally returned, there was only cold water. The reception desk was sympathetic, but I fault the management for not offering some type of compensation for the inconvenience. At a 4 star hotel, I expected a more luxurious experience. The price of the lodging far exceeded the amenities. As an aside, the ride to the airport was 140euros- next time I will stay at the Sheraton at the Malpensa airport.

Staff helpful, I lost my medication but they directed me to a pharmacy at the station and crisis averted. Restaurants around of varied quality, best food around the corner - Atlantic. Poorest food next door, on left of Berna but good service, good house wine and limoncello on the house, so you decide!

We chose Hotel Berna based on good reviews and convenient location to Milan Centrale train station. As we were also traveling in the area, I had reservations for two nights, one on either end of the week's Italy travels. The staff were very welcoming and hospitable and held my large suitcase for a few days while we traveled by train to Cinque Terre and Lake Como. It was nice having complimentary water and soft drinks in the refrigerator and the bathroom was comfortable and well lit. Both nights our rooms were near the elevator, but it was quiet. Our last night at Hotel Berna was the end of an 18 day trip across 3 countries. Coming back to Hotel Berna felt like we were coming back to family. We will definitely come back when back in Milan.
Cons: The elevator is small, but we find that to be true all over Europe. Granted we had two large suitcases and backpacks, but we managed by taking the lift up separately.

The hotel was clean, and comfortable in a very good state of decoration. Tasteful subtle lighting in the corridors. It is conveniently situated. Bed was good and bathroom was sensibly sized. Good powerful shower. Staff all very smartly turned out. Also very polite and patient. I heard one very politely dealing with a demand for a refund for some odd reason. Breakfast was an impressive layout. If I am in Milan again this would be my first choice.

The hotel was very expensive and run down. It's in a dangerous part of town. There was a loud fight outside our window the first night of our stay. I didn't feel safe. I would not stay there again. The one was about 150 square feet in size and they charged $1000 a night.

I highly recommend Hotel Berna for your stay in Milan. It’s conveniently located next to Milano Centrale and Metro. You can walk to Duomo/City Center in 30 min or take public transportation. Cons: Das Bad ist sehr groß, dafür ist das eigenliche Zimmer klein, und das Fenster auch klein. Der Aufzug ist sehr klein(passt aber ein Großkoffer), und der Flur ist eng. Wichtiger Hinweis: Verwenden Sie während des Duschens kein Wasser an anderen Stellen, da dies die Duschwassertemperatur erheblich beeinflusst. Das Spülen der Toilette lässt die Duschwassertemperatur stark ansteigen und birgt Verbrühungsgefahr. Instantkaffee und Kaffeesahne im Zimmer werden nicht immer nachgefüllt.

Great location, clean and reasonable value. Room quite dated but ok. However the stay was ruined by an air con system that was deafening all night. This turned out to be a known issue and only solved by turning it off at the fuse box!! - not telling your guest resulted in zero sleep first night!! Great breakfast, walk to station, lots of dining options nearby. A simple issue spoils the whole experience.

La ubicación del hotel es perfecta; cerca de la estación y del centro de Milán. El hotel, de decoración vintage y muy bien mantenido. Muy limpio, tanto en los espacios comunes, como la habitación. El desayuno sin dudas fue lo mejor: super abundante, variado y de excelente calidad. La atención del personal es super profesional y atenta. Sin ninguna duda, volvería a alojarme en este hotel y lo recomendaré a quien viaje a Milán.

Literary everything was good. I do not often give high scores to hotels in Milano, but Berna is an exeption. Staff is efficient and customer oriented. I arrived, and 2 parcels, sent from Milano shops, were waiting for me at reception. Was checked-in earlier. Room had a tea pot, also water and cola for free in a fridge. Abundant breakfast (sia dolce che salato!). Reception's staff speaks several languages. На ресепшн работает итальянец, свободно говорящий на русском. Бесценно

ミラノ中央駅に近い。夜22時過ぎに空港からバスで着いて徒歩10分くらいでした。ひとり旅で夜の治安を恐れていましたが駅の周辺には警官がいたり、ホテルの近くにはレストランがあってお客さんがいたりしてなんとか無事でした。お部屋のドリンクは無料なのも嬉しかったです！

It is in the very beautiful street, walking distance from the Milan Central. It is an old building with charm. Employees are great and friendly ( Samir, lady at the desk). They serve free water, coffee and cookie in the corner in the lobby. We got room upgrade without extra payment. Also, breakfast is dissant.

The staff at the front at amazing! So friendly and helpful. The snacks throughout the day is a lovely touch too! The staff at breakfast are also incredible. So friendly, kind and helpful.
Cons: The cleaning staff do what I would expect of a 4 star hotel. You get complimentary drinks in the minibar and it was replaced once. It’s very random. We ran out of tissues a few times, the shower gel was finished without being refilled. Tea facilities were not replenished (we made tea in the room so used up the milk but the next day only the teabags were replenished). In a 4 star hotel would expect a bit better. Didn’t want to call reception that often to fix things.

The staff is great! The receptionists were very welcoming and helpful. The service at breakfast (where you can order additional hot drinks like espresso) was excellent. 10 points to the staff!
Cons: There was no air conditioning! The room was very hot and we felt very uncomfortable. The windows had no nets, so as soon as we opened them lots of mosquitos flew in. Definitely not a 4-star experience! On a side note, whoever designed the bathrooms should find another job. A fairly large bathroom with a tiny shower enclosure, the liquid soap dispenser fixed to the mirror at shoulder height - what were they thinking?

Cons: VERY thin walls. After trying to get some sleep for over an hour I had to use headphones to block out the sound of people talking and doors slamming. I was in a room right by the stairwell and could hear everything. The room was also too hot even with the fan and air conditioning.

There are many small hotels near the Central Station. But this one stands out as being very welcoming exceptionally maintained and with a tremendous, very complete breakfast buffet. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. My single room was small but very well equipped and comfortable. It's an easy five minute walk to the train station. I would definitely recommend.

Hotel Berna was the perfect base for my stay in Milan, situated only a few minutes walk from the Central metro line. The staff were welcoming throughout my stay and kindly checked me in slightly early. The room was clean and comfortable and I particularly enjoyed the power shower and the free soft drinks from the fridge! The breakfast was perfect; all the best parts of a continental breakfast. I’d stay here again.

This is an older property but well maintained and complemented by excellent service at reception and breakfast. A single room is sufficient for a short stay by solo travellers, though note the shower is very compact as are the hotel’s two lifts (elevators). The hotel is well situated near Milano Centrale and the Metro, as well as various cafes and restaurants. It was very convenient for a day trip to Lake Como and also to access the city centre.

I stayed in the annex directly across the road from the main hotel in a single room. My friend stayed in the main hotel. This was not at all a problem and worked very smoothly. We arrived by train and, after getting lost and disoriented for ages in the humungous central train station (very easy to do!), found it was only about a 3-4 minute walk to the hotel. First impressions of the room were that it was a little drab compared to other hotels I had stayed in in (mostly Eastern) Europe. However, once you got past that, it was actually quite spacious for a single room. It contained a comfortable double bed, fridge, safe, rack for your suitcase, tea and coffee facility, writing desk and a good number of lighting options with plugs next to the bed to recharge your phone etc. The windows also opened. Good sized bathroom with a shower with shower curtain and heated towel rack, So, all in all, pretty good. Staff are friendly - particulalrly the Bangladeshi barman who prepares all the food for Apperttivo hour in the hotel bar - he is an absolutely lovely guy who made our stay quite special with his conversation and attentiveness to drinks, snacks and advice about some parts of Milan - after a convesration, he even checked if the restaurant next door had vegetarian food. We definitely thought the hotel should promote the bar more as hardly anyone seemed to go to it when we were there - it is an awesome and inexpensive pre-dinner spot, we found. You would never get anything like that amount of complimentary high quality food in Australia or the USA! The breakfast staff were also very freindly and extremely helpful - the breakfast itself is very very good indeed. Brilliant untouristy neighbourhood with awesome access to metro lines and trams just a minute or two down the street. The neighbourhood doesn't seem like much during the day, but it comes alive with stacks of hidden gems at night in terms of bars and restaurants.
Cons: We stayed at the end of February, which is the end of winter, I suppose. But my room (and I heard other people make the same complaint) was automatically set to a very hot heat. Fortunately I was able to work out how to turn it off - and was able to open the window wide to let in cool air. There is also a ceiling fan, which I had turned on all the time. However, every time you'd leave the room, it would automatically heat it to this terrible level while you were out. So I'd have to repeat the same process every time I returned. To add to the discomfort, the curtains were really hard to open to get to the window - I was always very afraid of breaking them. Overall, while there are lot of positives to this hotel, I would defniitely say that the listing makes it look a little more stylish than it is in reality. If the heat issue hadn't been so dominant in my stay, I would probably rate it 8 rather than 7.

Excelente desayuno, con mucha variedad. Las bebidas del frigobar son gratuitas, y te dan te y café para hacerte en la habitación con una pava eléctrica, muy buen toque y cómodo para tomar algo cuando llegas cansado a la habitación.

Huoneet olivat remontoituja siistejä (majoituimme 3.krs huoneissa). Hyvä ja kattava aamiainen. Sijainti mitä mainioin. Happy hour aikaan tarjolla baarissa pientä naposteltavaa.
Cons: Yhdessä huoneessa (seurueellamme oli kolme huonetta) vessan patteri oli rikki ja vessassa +30c lämmintä koko lomailun ajan.

Accoglienza alla reception fantastica. Ho soggiornato per una notte e al check in mi sono stati dati ottimi suggerimenti per visitare alcuni punti della città e anche come muovermi con la metro.
Cons: Essendo del settore, consiglio i sigilli garanzia di aver effettuato sanificazione dei servizi igienici, rotolo carta igienica sé appena utilizzato di riutilizzarlo con bollino sigillo garanzia, dispenser sapone mani di collocarlo in posizione adiacente lavabo e bidè.
