The Mecure hotel is currently undergoing renovations but this did not affect the quality of service we received during stay. All staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The room was smart and comfortable, all newly decorated. We had gone to support a family member who was having an operation and so chose the Mecure for its proximity to the hospital, but the hotel also made for an excellent base from which to visit the sights of Rabat.

We stayed 8 nights at the Mercure Ranat. The hotel is a nice 3 star hotel, nothing fancy, and located in a quiet neighborhood a five minute walk from the main thoroughfares with shops, cafés and restaurants. We had a room in the newly renovated 3rd floor and everything was ship shape. Towels and linens were fine, bed was firm and comfy. The room, the corridors and the commin areas are all impeccably clean. Any issues we had, which were few, were quickly dealt with by the friendly attentive staff. We spent a bunch of time hanging out in the large, sunny courtyard. The breakfast (included in our rate) was particulely enjoyed as it features an omelette starion, fresh fruit, both moroccan and french breads and great coffee. There was construction noise during the day as they are renovating the lower floors bur it was always done by 5pm.

The Mercure Grand Hotel Rabat is a simple and decent hotel that offers good value for money. It provides all the basic amenities you would expect for a comfortable stay, making it a suitable option for travelers seeking an affordable and no-frills experience. However, the hotel does feel a bit outdated in terms of design and facilities. One notable inconvenience is the lack of assistance with luggage. The lift is positioned on an elevated platform, requiring guests to carry their luggage up and down a few steps—a challenge that could easily be addressed with a slope or dedicated staff to assist. That said, the hotel delivers on the essentials, and for the price, it meets expectations. If you’re looking for a straightforward stay without luxury add-ons, this is a good option, though some minor improvements could make the experience more seamless. I have never reviewed a hotel before actually sleeping overnight but I’m so angry I can’t sleep. Hotel is clean however only 2 bath towels. No hand towels or face cloths. This is an ACCOR hotel branded Mercure. Definitely below the branding standards in Paris and Europe . Worse part was the bartender in the hotel bar. Wouldn’t allow us to pay with credit card. Cash only. We ordered 2 Casablanca beers then found out we can order a bucket of beers 5 for the price of 4 beers. Another guest at the bar ordered for us. Bartender charged us for a total of 7 beers no discount. When the bar guest queried about the difference in pricing he said hotel guests don’t get the discounted offer. Essentially if you are stupid enough to stay in this hotel you pay a premium. It’s not the 38 Dirhams. It’s the principle. We paid him 300 dirhams cash and he said no change. Who cares it’s 20 dirhams in change. We would have tipped him 20% because we are North Americans. Instead the bartender decided to scam us for a total of 58 dirhams that really pissed me off. Again it’s the principle at hand Not sure if it’s racial discrimination or a gender issue but we would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I’m sure this is not an ACCOR corporate policy to rip off guests but if definitely left a HORRIBLE impression of ACCOR/Mercure hotels. Very disappointing. Brought up the issue with the front desk… no resolution. Why can’t they charge my credit card and give back the 300 dirham. We didn’t convert a lot of USD to dirham because we had no plans to shop a lot in the souk. Now I have to convert more USD because of the bartender’s scam to pocket the pricing difference. I guess it adds up if you scam enough guests

The room lacked some small things like glasses for drinking and milk for making tea. My main complaint, however, is that the air-conditioning was inadequate. Cons: My room was next to elevators and I could hear everybody going in and out from 6 AM, and the elevator itself was to noisy. Kindly the reception staff change my room to the end of corridor and I slept so well the following 3 nights. But to avoid this to other guests, the room should have a better sound proof at the door, or adding a second door to not hear the people passing by outside the corridor or doors slapping from automatic door brackets.

After booking for 1 night stay, I went to the reception in order to check in...but the receptionist said that my reservation is not mentioned on the system. Expedia booking couldn't send a booking confirmation to the hotel. I showed them the confirmationI received by email but on the hotel system Expedia sent nothing.

A pleasant stay. Hotel a bit tired but met my needs. Room fine though a bit of a "drain smell" from the bathroom though not to the extent that I would make the effort to change rooms. Staff excellent and friendly. Food in the restaurant (evening meal) perfectly acceptable but not mind blowing. Breakfast options were very nice.

Well located to explore Rabat, decent price and breakfast but dated from a design perspective. They need more irons for the guests. Front desk stuff is very nice.

Hotel is adequate but WIFI was terrible. This may be related to the room as on a previous stay with a room at back of hotel it was better, although still temperamental.

This was overall a nice hotel. The breakfast buffet was great, with a good variety of pastries, fruits, and Moroccan specialties, including custom made omelets. The room itself was small, The two single beds were jammed up against each other (no separation) because there just wasn't room. The closet was in an awkward position, the AC was weak, not getting cold even when "set" to 15 degrees (Centegrade). The refrigerator barely cooled at all. Staff was friendly, and English was fine.

Hotel needs to spend resources to improve its refurbishment and cuisine to suit foreign travellers. We experienced that its overall standard(s) are average or 3 star.

Light in shower hanging by wire. A fire hazard. Safe box did not work, so nowhere to store important docs or equipment. No toilet brush! Air-con did not work well. Was still too warm to sleep well in even though I set it very low. All staff were friendly and helpful. Location: 20min from main station. Wi-Fi worked fine.

Good location, elevator painfully didn't work a lot of the time which the staff seem to try and ignore. Rooms are very small no hook in bathroom for towels, no kettle etc and no room for a large suitcase. Breakfast is average as I am gluten free struggled a lot. Breakfast egg counter staff only seem to know how to make an omelette nothing else. Reception staff had our rooms round the wrong way and tried to charge me for prepaid room but didn't understand at all

I had to leave the hotel after one night. The A/C was not working properly, and the bathroom space was very tight. My credit card was fraud after using it for my payment, I am not sure if the hotel was the problem, but my overall experience was not good.

Hotel is OK. Check-in staff was rather aloof, but got the job done. Breakfast was OK - nothing to write home about. Room was clean and comfortable and bathroom was very good. Hint... for whatever reasons, petit taxis refuse to take you from the train station to that part of town (which is actually a very nice residential area)... so, from the train station, take the tram towards Sale, and alight at the second stop. From there, it is a five minute walk. From the hotel, the old city can be reached by foot in about 15 to 20 minutes. Bottom line: Would I stay here again? I would not be opposed to it.

This is a good place to stay in Rabat: the hotel is pleasant, staff are friendly, rooms are clean, and our room at least had none of the signs of poor maintenance that you can find even in hotels of higher categories in Morocco (cracked tiles, paintwork worn or badly repainted...) Breakfast was very good, with a wide range of choice that compares well with other hotels of similar category. The one drawback was the small size of the room. There is just about space to move around the bed. There is a desk, but it is so close to the end of the bed that there is no room to sit at it. The hotel does not have its own parking, but it was easy enough finding a parking space in the street. The booking confirmation implied that the parking fee would paid to the hotel, but that is not the case: there is a "gardien" in the street, and you pay him.

Good, functional and clean hotel that offered good comfort and value for money. Breakfast setting was great and the food in the restaurant was flavorful. Staff was helpful. The area of the hotel seems safe and quiet and within walking distance from main attractions.

First visit to Morocco. Don't speak French or Arabic. Did just fine. Hotel is a healthy walking distance to Mohammed V mausolum, the river front, Kasbah, Plage (beach) Rabat for water sports (including surfing), cemetery, and the Medina. Good breakfasts. Nice bang for the buck!

I wanted to try the Mercure Hotel in Rabat as I have had other excellent stays in Mercure hotels in Paris. Unfortunately this Mercure is really a poor one and not up to the Accor hotels standards. The first room we were given was on a floor that was being renovated and there were tools and rubble in the nearby corridor. After complaining to the reception desk we were given a small room without work nearby ... Not a place where I will come back at this price of a little more than $100 per night, the Diwan hotel from the Accor group in the same area of Rabat is definitely much better and not much more expensive...

Reasonably-priced hotel not far from the Tour Hassan site and a short walk to the new tramway. Room was very small, with a very narrow space between the bed and (small) desk. Fine if all you need is a bed, but too cramped to do any work in the room. The breakfast is nice at the onsite restaurant, with a good selection. Internet is free, but outgoing local calls are not. There is a small convenience store directly across the street, which, although it has a limited selection, is handy for buying water, snacks, or travel supplies.

Great location, within walking distance of the Kasbah, Hassans Mausoleum/unfinished Mosque, and the medina and easy to get your bearings and find your way back. Best to speak French, English is OK at registration but still a bit sketchy. We wanted ice for cocktails in our room and had a very difficult time getting it and the staff was quite angry at one time. Overall the hotel was fine - rooms are small but clean and bed linens great!

I have low expectations when it comes to hotels, especially when I'm traveling alone. This was the cheapest offer I could find. I read many reviews about this hotel and the reviews were mixed, so I wasn't expecting much. The hotel was clean, always got new towels and the complimentary breakfast was nice (I'm very picky about food so, basically I only ate some bread and water/juice). I tried the hotel bar, and sampled the local beer which was very good. The hotel was not noisy, nor during the night or day. I slept fine. The air-conditioner worked and kept me cool (there was also a small refrigerator that had to be plugged in to use it and it worked fine). And I didn't need to hand them over my passport (if some people are wondering about that). Nothing was stolen, but I tend to keep things very clean and in order while I'm away from my room, to make things easier on the housekeepers. It was a prepaid reservation, and I still had to let them swipe my credit card at the end of my stay. They haven't charged me yet, although I did make one short phone call (and they rightfully should charge me for that, but it has been a while, so maybe they just dropped it).

This was a good hotel in a convenient location. Our room was cosy, clean and comfortable although a bit small, not really any space to put our suitcases. Our night was somewhat ruined by the fact that a party seemed to be going on in a nearby room in the early hours, with people shouting and conversing in the corridor and doors slamming. We had to call the night receptionist who did not speak English, but he did at least sort the problem out. We were probably just unlucky, although it did highlight the fact that the rooms are not particularly well designed for blocking noise. Breakfast was quite good, with a large selection of food, but horrible push-button machine coffee.

Travel was delayed by unforeseen circumstances. Hotel demanded prepayment for reservations and then unwilling to change the dates when delayed by travel. Paid for a room and never got to use it or check in and hotel would not cooperate with changing dates.

Seems like Rabat is mainly a business destination. Hotels are kind of scattered around the city and Americans are not going to find any familiar brands. This hotel is part of the Accord chain and is very comfortable for an American business traveler. Breakfast is excellent. Dinner was also very good but the menu is fairly short - the Moroccan dishes were as good as I had in 2 weeks in the country. Small full service bar, good wine list with quite nice Moroccan wine selection. The Mercure is situated in a very nice neighborhood - kind of the medical district with lots of doctor's offices and laboratories. Nightlife (such as it is in Rabat)and the Medina are a short walk (just head toward the ocean and you can't miss it). Only downside was the lack of in-room internet. This was the case in every hotel I stayed in, in Nov 2009 regardless of the location or brand. Not sure if it was an economic thing or security thing. Internet worked fine in the lobby so either get one of the "high boost" wifi gadgets or plan on working in the lobby.

This place is a good bargain for the money. It's cheaper than some of the hotels because it is not in the absolute center, but it is much nicer than some of the older more traditional hotels. All the internet you want in the lobby (no access in rooms). Kangarou restaurant connected to hotel; great food. Wait staff will serve you while you lounge in the comfortable chairs in the hotel lobby, catching up on the internet. The free breakfast is second to none. Hot and cold dishes, fresh fruits, fresh bread....wonderful.It was clear the place had recently been renovated and my accommodation was nearly perfect.

The AC did not work and the place smelled moldy and smoky. The staff was just OK and not very friendly. The dining staff in particular seemed very unhappy. this was quite unlike any other service (very warm and friendly) at other establishments in Morocco during our two week vacation in that country.
