If you’ve stayed at other Shangri La hotels, you know what to expect: proper 5 star amenities, excellent service, and a great pool area. Beautifully located by the river, with shuttle boat to the Icon Siam directly from the hotel. Easy access to the BTS train. We opted for a river view room - and we would 100% do the same again. The views were amazing. The property is huge, so I would recommend trying to get a room in the main building of your want easy access to restaurants and pool. However, if easy access to BTS is preferable you could stay at the Krungthep wing - just note that this wing is far away from the main reception and restaurants. If there is anything we were missing, it would be turndown service - which should be mandatory for 5 star hotels. However, we will definitely return for our next trip to Bangkok.

Bro I’m telling you the air conditioner in room 1333 is broken and we switched rooms, they said the room switch will be done by morning but it was afternoon and it still wasn’t done then after the room switch they forgot the second bed and it was after i was done swimming when they finally delivered the bed. This hotel was supposed to get one star but since the food was delicious and i get to swim i gave it three stars.

The stay was lovely. I had my birthday at the Shangri-la Bangkok and when we returned to our room after a day by the pool the management and staff had sent a delicious chocolate cake and card for my birthday. This was so thoughtful. The staff are all very kind and attentive. The breakfast choice is amazing. I highly recommend Shangri-la Bangkok. If I had anything negative it would only be a suggestion- one of the pool areas could be child free. Thank you for a memorable stay.
Cons: We were staying in the separate wing called Krungthep wing. I found this was a little bit away from the main area of the hotel. But it did help with our step count each day and we found a great food hall just around the corner.

The hotel enjoys a perfect location. From the balcony, you can take in a stunning panoramic view of the water, the skyline, and the city lights. Furthermore, the complimentary shuttle boat carries you directly to the shopping malls and back—a truly wonderful touch and a real highlight. The pool, service, and every other detail are equally excellent. I would return in a heartbeat. It is also one of the few hotels left in Bangkok that still offers balconies where smoking is permitted. Thank you so much for everything; we look forward to coming back

I stayed here in early February 2026 and again in March 2026, a pit stop on my way to and from Nha Trang, Vietnam. I really can’t add much to the reviews I read. But I’ll try. I stayed in both wings, the newer Shangri La wing and the older, atmospheric Krungthep wing, which I preferred. The two wings are separated by a long corridor, about a five minute walk for me. It’s a really nice walk with nooks and crannys and interesting side rooms. You know you’re not in Kansas anymore. I was told they will call a golf cart for you if you wish but I always enjoyed the walk. If you want the hotel breakfast, it’s in the Shangri La wing so you’ll have a decent morning walk to get there if you’re not staying in that wing. The Krungthep wing is the antithesis of the modern cookie cutter hotel, with a stunning Thai themed lobby. It’s really big with many nice, deep chairs and sofas so you can read, relax, write a journal and ponder Zeno’s paradox in quiet comfort. Some chairs have a view of the river. I never saw more than a few people at most there and sometimes it was just my favorite person. It’s a very special place. (I should denigrate it a bit as I don’t want to ruin it with a lot of people but I cannot) The newer Shangri La wing is spit and polish modern and is really nice as well. The big lobby also overlooks the river and, unlike the Krungthep lobby, has a bar with drinks served and is much more active but not crowded. You’ll not have it to yourself. It’s really nice but is modern themed as opposed to the Krungthep lobby. All personnel I encountered couldn’t have been more polite, professional looking and acting, readily engaging in conversation and offering assistance, especially those ladies I’d see walking around, greeters maybe, who were so nice, and pulchritudinous as well. I don’t want to mention names as I’ll leave someone out and cause offense. They also have really neat nicknames so guests don’t murder their Thai names in pronunciation. Next time, I should offer to help them with additional nicknames as I’m really good at it. An example of the service was the bellhop in the Krungthep wing. In polite conversation, I asked where I could buy some newspapers to bring back to the good old USA for friends. He advised me to check the local mall but I was unsuccessful there. When I told him of my lack of success, he called someone in the Shangri La wing to bring three newspapers over, which they drove over to us immediately. Gratis. (my favorite price) My goodness! So you’ve got two super-nice but distinct buildings to choose from, a fantastic location on the river near local transit and ferry hubs, and absolutely outstanding personnel who regularly show their teeth (in a friendly manner) and will readily help to make your stay better. I think that covers it. As Arnold says, “I’ll be back!”

Everyone is friendly, the hotel is spacious and clean, rooms are excellent, although mine had a wiff of mould at the entrance, probably a bathroom flood. Food was amazing, the bar was in a great location and the pool was fantastic. The staff made the meetings i had go like clockwork. Well organised, nothing was too much trouble. Even had the AV team running to fix a minor issue. The hotel organised excursions were perfect and not too expensive. All in all i cannot recommend this enough

Cons: Staff, even at reception, don’t speak great English, and we didn’t experience much proactiveness. The one real missed opportunity was that at check-in, staff didn’t mention the kids’ activities, even after seeing we had two small children. We only found out about the program too late — it would have been much appreciated, especially since the kids were jet-lagged. So if you’re traveling with kids, make sure to ask about the weekly activity schedule!

This is one of the grand old riverfront hotels. It is almost like a heritage relic the fitout is so old! The location is convenient to the ferry and skyrail. The building itself is enormous- we were in the south wing which is about 400m walk from reception along endless corridors. The check in was very drawn out and procedural and impersonal. It’s an ok place to stay but I didn’t love it.

Our stay at the hotel was a wonderful experience with many memorable highlights. The hotel arranged a very comfortable limousine service from Khao Yai to the property. The driver was extremely friendly and welcoming, even asking if we would like to play music during the journey and offering complimentary water. However, the WiFi in the vehicle was unfortunately not working. Our check-in process was very smooth, especially as we had prepaid for our stay. The hotel’s interior design was impressive — modern while still beautifully reflecting Thai culture. The mini bridge in the lobby was a unique and memorable feature that added to the charm of the property. The room itself was very spacious and gave us a wonderful royal feeling throughout our stay. The large balcony with its breathtaking Chao Phraya River view was one of the highlights, especially after sunset when the scenery became even more beautiful. The only drawback was the lack of a Muslim shower near the toilet area, which would have made the room more comfortable for Muslim guests. The housekeeping service was excellent, and we truly appreciated the laundry service, which was fast, well-organized, and maintained a high standard of hygiene. The room reservations team was also incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay as smooth and comfortable as possible, especially with arranging our limousine services and dinner cruise experience. One of the biggest highlights of our stay was the Shangri-La Horizon Dinner Cruise. From start to finish, the staff were kind, friendly, and attentive. The food was delicious and very filling, especially the desserts. As Muslim guests, we also appreciated the thoughtful arrangement of non-alcoholic welcome drinks, which was a lovely gesture. The cruise itself was smooth, and the views along the Chao Phraya River were spectacular.

Cons: It is a bit dated. Some things in the room were not working e.g mini bar fridge was not cooling properly, bathroom sink leaked, carpet was in need of repair. The hotel needs a good refurbishment.

I recently spent a wonderful staycation at Shangri-La Bangkok, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine Thai hospitality that made me feel instantly relaxed and cared for. I stayed in a Horizon Club River View Room, and waking up to the panoramic views of the Chao Phraya River was simply amazing. The room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. One of my favorite parts of the stay was the access to the Horizon Club Lounge. I loved spending the afternoon there with a cup of coffee while enjoying the city views, and the evening cocktails and canapés were a fantastic bonus. The hotel’s riverside swimming pool is absolutely beautiful and feels like a peaceful oasis in the middle of Bangkok. It was the perfect place to unwind and escape the busy city atmosphere. Breakfast at NEXT2 Café was another highlight. There was an impressive variety of food, from local Thai dishes to international favorites, and the riverside setting made the experience even more enjoyable. The service throughout the hotel was consistently warm, friendly, and attentive. During my stay, I also experienced the Volti Italian Sunday Table at Volti Tuscan Grill & Bar, and I highly recommend it. The brunch offered a great selection of antipasti, fresh seafood, pizza, delicious main courses, and desserts. The riverside atmosphere was lovely, and being able to enjoy the hotel’s pool afterward made the day feel even more special. What impressed me most was how Shangri-La Bangkok combines luxury, comfort, and authentic hospitality so effortlessly. It is the kind of place where you can truly slow down, relax, and enjoy every moment. I would definitely return and highly recommend Shangri-La Bangkok to anyone looking for a memorable riverside stay in Bangkok, whether for a staycation, a romantic getaway, or a special celebration.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Shangri-La Bangkok. The property is beautiful, impeccably maintained, and the location on the Chao Phraya River is fantastic. From the moment you arrive, everything feels thoughtfully designed to create a luxury experience—from the gorgeous lobby to the beautifully tailored staff uniforms. Even the smallest details feel intentional. We stayed in the Krungthep Wing, and if your budget allows, I’d definitely recommend it. It was incredibly quiet and gave us access to a much more secluded pool with comfortable sunbeds overlooking the river. It was the perfect place to relax after spending the day exploring Bangkok. The service was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless. We were welcomed with a refreshing sweet tea, accommodated with an early check-in without even asking, and our luggage somehow made it to our rooms before we even thought about it. Check-in was completely seamless. You also get the sense that they take both hospitality and their reputation very seriously. The only issue we had during our stay was a slow-draining sink. We mentioned it once, it was repaired while we were out, and when we returned there was a formal note in an envelope on Shangri-La letterhead letting us know it had been fixed and apologizing for the inconvenience. It was a small issue, but the way they handled it said a lot about the hotel. The breakfast buffet was excellent with just about anything you could want. One of my favorite little touches was that they featured a different fresh juice every morning, which made breakfast feel a little different each day. The location couldn’t have worked better for us. The hotel is right next to the Central Pier, and they also offer a complimentary shuttle boat across the river to ICONSIAM. Whether you choose to travel by river or by road, getting around is easy. We ended up using Grab quite a bit, and because the Shangri-La is such a well-known hotel, drivers always knew exactly where to find us. One thing I also appreciated was the security. Every time you entered the hotel your bags went through an X-ray scanner. It never felt inconvenient or over the top—just reassuring. We’d absolutely stay here again. After spending several days there, it’s easy to understand why the Shangri-La has the reputation it does. It’s a beautiful hotel, but what really stood out to us was how consistently well it was run.

The Shangri-La makes every effort to be regal. So there is a lot of staff to welcome and carry on your luggage at the door, the uniform is impressive, the smiles wide. Reception is personal, professional and quite swift. Our room, at the remote Krungthep wing was spacious and had a great view of the river. We were also quite lonely at this wing as it was mainly empty and whisper quite. There was nothing "personal" about our stay at the Krungtherp, no premium perks or special benefits as one may expect. Location on the river is good. Concierge services exemplary, Breakfast is exceptional and the public spaces are cozy, spacious, well decorated and inviting. The pool is nice too.
Cons: Attention to details that make a good hotel great was lacking, and every day of our stay was plagued with different faults. These were attended to, some at a leisurely pace, but the hotel apologized and compensated so no further complaints here. It takes a lot of walking through long corridors to get to the main building from the Krungthep wing so consider that when going to breakfast or the pool or basically anything else. There is a shuttle though for those who prefer not to walk.

The room we had, was on a high floor, facing the Chao Praya river and the view was stunning, especially at night. The hotel had a hotel boat that could ferry the guests across the river to the Icon mall and back, which was very convenient. The breakfast spread was amazing, and we enjoyed the variety of food, juices and even an ice cream bar ... it was literally our brunch for each day of our stay. Service during breakfast was always excellent, warm and friendly, and the restaurant staff were immaculately groomed and professional, anticipating our every need. Overall, our stay at Shangrila BKK was truly enjoyable and comfortable, as we were able to experience the warm hospitality and service from the time we arrived and greeted at the entrance to the front desk reception staff who welcomed us with her gracious smile and a lovely welcome drink. She listened to our request and situation, and was gracious to extend an early checkin after we arrived from a very long flight. Each time we waited for our Grab taxi to arrive, the lobby staff would approach us to offer assistance and a seat in the lobby while they look out for the taxi to arrive for us. The concierge also provided great support and assistance when we had problems with our luggage and did an excellent job to follow-up with the repair technician for a speedy repair in time for our flight home. Huge thanks and compliments to the hotel and its amazing team! Well done and keep up the excellent service and hospitality!

Nestled in the most perfect location in Bangkok, with everything you need all around you, convenient transport and the most stunning views of the river. From the moment we arrived the staff looked after us so well and went above and beyond for us. Room was perfect, clean and comfortable with plenty of amenities. The hotel itself has everything you could ever need - the most stunning pool and outdoor area, multiple amazing restaurants and bars, an epic buffet breakfast. We recently visited our son who lives in Thailand. He prepared our tour and hotels. Shangri-La Bangkok was our last stop . We spent 3 nights here on arrival 1st impression WOW . This property is impressive ! Everything you would expect in a major city 5* hotel . Pool - lovely resort style with attentive servers quiet relaxing just what we needed before our long flight back to Canada. We did not dine here so cannot comment we used it as our base to venture out and about in Bangkok. Staff well trained & professional . Shopping Mall- a Thai replicated cute boat has a schedule to drop you off and pick you up. Mall is mostly high end if that is what you are looking for all designer stores there for you to peruse. Starbucks here as well .Lovely local Thai crafts and kotchkies can be found here as well. Room- spacious clean , small balcony to watch the boats come and go. Cleaning done daily on time and spotless . We arranged a driver through the concierge as my son was heading back to his home. We needed a large SUV for our 4 suitcases ;) On arrival to the airport we were greeted by a wonderful member/staff concierge. She introduced herself and not a care to be had checking in . We are frequent travelers and have never had this perk before , What a wonderful idea ! Thank you Shangri-La Bangkok We will be back on our next visit !!!

we had room 1151 in the krungthep wing , had 2 balconys, one bigger than the other roommwas way better than we thought it would be , great for watching the boats go up and down the river, we were right next to motor way but the noise didnt really bother us , and was only a 2 mim walk to train station , , heaps of different food at breakfast was very nice, 2 great pools but as i just had a tattoo i wasnt able to use them , the one in the krungthep wing only had 2 to 3 people in it at any one time , its like its your own priv pool , when we go back to bangkok this will be our go too

First time to Thailand, three nights in Bangkok to start… I am the type of person to create a spreadsheet, review and compare every hotel then cross check against trip advisor and google review, compare prices across all platforms… you get the idea… I could not fault the Shangri-La Bangkok.. it started with the airport pick up in a Mercedes, to being whisked straight to our room instead of check-in at the front counter.. stayed in a Shangri-la wing horizon executive river view suite on the top level 25.. had drinks and canapés in the horizon club each evening which was nice.. Breakfast can be had on the ground level cafe with a large array of options or Horizon club which was a bit meh with the breakfast options.. Great place to stay for your first time in Bangkok.. Book direct on their website as they have some good deals and use their app..

We had a lovely six nights here in an Executive River View Suite King; this was located on the 8th floor. It was a good suite but being on a corner, the view from the bedroom and one from the lounge area was mostly of solar panels. The bed was extremely comfortable, plenty of good storage (had to request extra hangers), and good linens. The bathroom was also a good size with an excellent shower, two sinks, toilet, bath and great toiletries. We had access to the Horizon Club Lounge, on the 24th floor, for excellent views, food drinks and staff. We met some staff from the Krungthep Wing Riverside Lounge on previous visits and were extremely well looked after by two main teams: Ammy, Eye, Poy, Maprang, Qi and Wanisa and Oui, Ploy, Yi, and Mind. We also ate in Next2 and around the pool (from Next2) and both times, the food and service was excellent. We have been coming to stay at the Shangri La since early 2000’s and always select to stay in the Krungthep Wing. This is the second time we have had to stay in the Shangri-La Wing due to various closures in the Krungthep Wing. We previously stayed at Shangri-La, Singapore and Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang and absolutely loved it so this year we thought we would treat ourselves as it was my special birthday and book Shangri-La Bangkok instead of the usual hotel we stay at when in Bangkok (Landmark). When we arrived, first impressions of the foyer and reception area were very good, staff were pleasant etc. We got to our room on the Horizon Club floor and opened the door to be greeted to a very unpleasant mould smell, I called reception, they said they would send someone up, the person arrived quickly with an air freshener spray, gave it a couple of sprays then left, there was absolutely no difference so we turned off the a/c and went out. When we returned later that evening the smell was still very strong, we went to bed but found it difficult to sleep because of it. Next morning I went to reception to advise that the smell was unbearable and that I could not sleep in that for the remaining 2 nights, our clothes were even smelling the same now too. They agreed to a room change, I said that I would like to see the room first to ensure of no smell. The receptionist showed me another room but as soon as she opened the door she hesitated and said that this room also smelled, I entered it and yes, it stank! She said that she would find us another room and call me to let me know. She called me and I went to see the new room and it did not smell, I said we would need 20 minutes to pack up our belongings to move, she said that the room needs refreshing and that she would contact us when it’s ready. Over an hour later, we were still waiting so my husband called reception who advised that the room was ready, why she didn’t inform us, I don’t know. We requested help with our baggage and a very nice young man was there within a few minutes to help. All of this soured our stay somewhat plus the rooms are really quite 3-4*, definitely not 5*, the shower gel, body lotion etc is screwed to the walls so you need a glass to pump some body gel into then put in the bath, there is only 1 sink in the bathroom and everything just looks like it requires a thorough refurb. The ornate bed head had large holes in it, stained carpets, no coffee machine, just a kettle with instant coffee powder and 2 coffee mates and some teabags. Really not up to Shangri-La standards of Singapore and Penang, such a huge disappointment, we both agreed that our usual hotel in Bangkok is far superior. We only used the Horizon Club lounge for breakfast and evening cocktails and canapes, it was nice, for breakfast the a la carte menu selection and buffet choice was good, the coffees should be hotter but understand it’s the machine and the toaster takes absolutely ages to toast! The staff however are all excellent in the club lounge. Cocktails and canapes was also lovely overlooking the river. Shangri-La Bangkok management, you should visit your Singapore and Penang hotels to see that your rooms are lacking. We had the feeling that you are riding on the coat tails of the Shangrila name/reputation but you are not in their league, urgent over haul required.

Cons: Dags att renovera. Känns lite som rummen var som lyxigast på 90-talet. Balkongen har tappat lite betong. Vet inte om man kanske får bättre rum om man bokar via hotellet direkt. Väldigt nära bron men det var inget som stördes om man var inne på rummet, dock lät det väldigt mycket från bilarna när vi satt på balkongen. Städerskan kom och knacka på vid 17-tiden för att städa, hade gärna haft städning tidigt på dagen när man inte är på rummet.

I stayed in the Krungthep Wing. The best of my stay is the location. Next to BTS Saphan Thaksin and Central Bangrak Mall, the location is perfect with lots of shops and restaurants next to the hotel. The hotel itself is old and feels like a very grand hotel in the past but currently is only a shadow of its past. Room is clean but extremely outdated that its hard to find the plugs for your modern day gadgets. Lights were flickering at nights as signs that it is in dire need of renovations. Shangri-La should consider closing them, renovating then turn it into a different hotel. Otherwise, staff are absolutely lovely and location is perfect.

As usual this was an excellent experience staying at the hotel. From the minute we were picked up at the airport to when we were returned there five days later it was a seamless, five star event. We stayed in a Horizon Club room and having breakfast in the Club was a very pleasance experience, as was having cocktails and canapes in the evening. The hotel is perfectly placed for the metro and river ferries and there are always taxis available just outside. After a long morning sight seeing, or shopping, the pool is a very welcome sight.

The Shangri-La is classical Bangkok, an old-time great luxury hotel with a reputation, but perhaps a bit too big to maintain luxury on the level intended. The Lobby is gorgeous and iconic, and the place has a number of good watering holes. The pool area, however, was a major disappointment with worn and down-right filthy covers on the deck chairs. Sorry… you really must do better for a Shangri-La. Our Horizon Club Riverview Executive Suite was spacious and nice , but starting to show wear on the furnishings. While the style should not change, an upgrade is badly needed. May I suggest wooden floors instead of the carpeting? The wood panelling is lovely. A major disappointment was the tiny closet space, which turned out to be a real problem for a longer stay in Thailand. My wife and I do not travel light. Comparative hotels have walk-in closets in their suite category rooms, sometimes also in their larger rooms. Elegance cannot be maintained from carry-on luggage and a few shelves, but requires appropriately appointed hanging space to unpack a few suitcases. The Horizon Club Lounge is really nice with a good substantive breakfast, allowing to flee from the presence of noisy children at the Next2 Café. It also did a nice Boulevardier cocktail, which - alas - the Long Bar had never heard about, providing only a classic Negroni. Please train all bars in all mainstream cocktails. It would also be good if the doormen would ensure that taxis put on meters, rather than try to convince that 150 baht from the hotel to a location a bit over 1 km away in a broken car is appropriate (I have lived in Bangkok). The staff was mostly good, but there were some touches of unprofessionalism in dealing with clients. All in all, we would likely stay again at the Shangri-La. The chain is an upscale one with a global reputation. The Bangkok flagship property would need a bit more constant care and love to keep at the right level.

Had a lovely helpful lady on reception in krungthep wing called Gigi, so helpful and friendly also a credit to the brand. My only critic would be please do something with the pigeons at breakfast!! They are everywhere! Walking in food and all over the tables! Very off putting!!!!

The hotel & room were immaculate in cleaning standards and quality.The hotel staff from arrival to departure were a credit to the hotel. A lovely reception as you get out of your car with your luggage immediately taken care of and a personal escort to check in. A wonderful entry into a massive beautifully presented reception and lounge area. This was our second visit and had booked a balcony room which had amazing river views. The hotel does everything perfectly with all aspects running like clockwork. Breakfast by the river is a delight with a wide choice of foods and drinks. Although busy, it is never overwhelming and service is always good. The pool area can get busy later in the day, but there are always beds and plenty of staff in support. Our rooms were always spotlessly cleaned including an evening turn down service. We would have no hesitation in coming for another stay.

Location, location, location, opulent luxury, wonderful service with one very odd anomaly- each morning at the magnificent and generous breakfast buffet I asked for a banana - sorry but there are no bananas. Any other 5 star hotel I’ve stayed at on day 1 the staff arrange a banana for day 2 and the subsequent days - but not here. Each day same response - ‘sorry-no have’ It’s odd that such an accomplished outfit as this, set in the tropics where they grow like weeds could not supply a banana. I found some at a street vendor less than 200 metres from the hotel. This will remain one life’s little riddles for me.

This hotel certainly ticks all the boxes, a beautiful spot right on the Chao Praya River, not too much passing road traffic but an easy walk to a main road and taxis and tuk tuks everywhere. Very professional staff, easy to smile, and brilliantly trained, and service that was attentive but not cloying. The hotel is getting on a bit, but the decor was still on point, the incredible orchid display, and the main reception area with its high ceilings impressed. This trip was meant to be a relaxing one, as we had both had a year that had stretched us in ways that were not pleasant. The hotel and the staff, the pool, the lovely Salathip restaurant, even the courtesy ferry to Icon Siam seemed to wash that away. The staff demonstrated their professionalism time and again, both in their service to us, and their trying to impose some sort of order on the chaos visited on the hotel by a contingent of convention goers that were staying there. It became a sort of people watching sport, as we were treated to the sight of a gorgeous Thai waitress valiantly defending a reserved table from what can only be described as a onslaught of convention goers that were determined to occupy the table at almost any cost. Her (and the rest of the staff) professionalism in dealing with this situation was simply brilliant. We cannot speak too highly of the Hotel, Service and Staff, from getting met at the airport, to check in, to just relaxing by the pool. The excellent service was shown in so many ways, even to the last, we were walking toward the lifts on our way to check out to leave the hotel, our hands were full but not overly so, a housekeeping lady said hello and good morning to us as she was cleaning another room, we said hello back, and as we got to the lift bank, the housekeeping lady was there pushing the down button for us just in case we couldnt manage it easily ourselves. Simply put, an example of a lovely gesture that embodies a service ethos that is lived, breathed and demonstrated all through the hotel. Thank you, so very much, Bangkok Shangri-La.

We loved our stay at the Shangri La. We had a room in the Krungthep wing & overlooked the river, which was just marvellous. There were fireworks on the Saturday night which was fabulous to see from our little balcony. The room was large & very comfortable with good, quiet air con a great sized extra large comfortable bed & good wardrobes etc.. Bathroom was also really spacious with a walk in shower. It was a fair walk internally or via the gardens to the main hotel which we were quite happy with as it's difficult to get so much exercise in the heat of Thailand! The pool was my favourite of our stay with the shade of the trees keeping it temperate. We ate in the Italian restaurant one night & had a lovely meal outside overlooking the river. The staff were always polite and on hand if needed, the reception staff were extremely helpful & the pool guys kept the area very well tended. We felt that we had a great introduction to Thailand here. The city was easy to navigate using the ferries, with the free shuttle over to Iconsiam very helpful, although the main ferry terminal was a short walk. There was a great massage place just outside the hotel, but my partner used the gym & sauna in the health club which he said was good. Enjoyed a river dining cruise which was an exceptional experience too.

Direkt am Fluß gelegenes Hotel, sehr gutes und professionell organisiertes Frühstück auf der Außenterrasse, sehr freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal. Wir hatten die Möglichkeit bekommen, später am Nachmittag auszuschecken, was am Abreisetag sehr angenehm war.
Cons: Wir waren in dem in die Jahre gekommenen Krungthep Flügel untergebracht mit eigenem Balkon. Die Ausstattung war doch in die Jahre gekommen und hätte doch eine Modernisierung verdient wie ebenfalls die Außenfassade mit bröckelnden Balkonen.

I love the Shangri-La Hotel chain, especially Bangkok. The Thai restaurant on the water, absolutely sensational Mus and curry delicious went back the next night. They’re crème brûlée 10 out of 10. I’ll always go back to this hotel.
Cons: The food options on the room service menu. you’re have a few average items? It’s a five star hotel They took my suitcase and didn’t give it to me till the next day and I didn’t even remember anyway, but still. Be careful on the booking Booking.com it said free taxi transport general. The Shangri-La hotel had no idea about the transfer and I still have to pay yet. It’s deceptive and misleading contact on behalf of Booking.com to say that the Shanghai hotel agreed to the airport transfers when it has nothing to do with them.

Ett otroligt hotell! Vi hade några underbara dagar i Bangkok på Shangri la med våra två barn, 7 månander och 4 år. Hotellet är barnvänligt, vackert beläget vid floden och smidigt att ta sig till BTS för att ta sig runt. Rekommenderar starkt för barnfamiljer i Bangkok!

Location, main hotel wing, main hotel pool.
Cons: The balcony river view rooms are in the Krung Thep wing—which they don’t tell you—and it’s quite old and empty and nearly a 10 minute walk from the newer wing. Rooms are from the 1980s and our lights flickered the entire stay. We also didn’t see a single person on our floor the entire stay. Felt empty/abandoned. Newer wing was nice and lively. Don’t recommend Krung Thep wing.

Disappointed. For me this is not what a Shangri-la experience should be. This is more like an hotel for cruise participants and other groups.Also the second wing should not be sold as part of the hotel. This is too far away from any real service provided by the hotel. When we checked in last night we realized how ridiculisly far away our room was. I booked a suite with lounge access. The lounge is in another building and you need to walk and change floor 3 times to arrive there . Same for breakfast, réception, bar , pool... we asked the reception if another suite was available in the main building and it was initially not. I informed them that I would like to cancell my booking and was seriously already looking for an alternative.. The staff was really trying to help, they. ́early often have the same issue. A few minutes later they told me that a suite could be available in the main building. They escorted us to see it and as it was not ready we went to the bar for a drink (really nice bar and staff) and out for diner. Ou suite was then ready and we started to chase our luggages who were delivered after 20 min. This morning the breakfast was far from a pleasure. So busy and stressfull.they have some welcome desk for Viking cruise other groups with people talking to other tables etc. It was the same feeling that last night when we arrived on the same time that a group. I am now writing this from the pool. Nice staff, nice pool. But the overall experience is not so good. For me this is a well situated old fashioned ex 5 stars who has lost the fifth one. The second wing should be sold to groups. And they need to invest some money to refresh some rooms. The experience could discourage me to book another Shangri la in the future now that i will be based in Asia 6 months a year.

Tilbage på Shangri- La efter 14 år. Varm modtagelse med et smukt værelse. Chokolade. Bløde håndklæder og en skøn seng. Smuk udsigt. Stedet har stadig den samme wow følelse. Her er smukt, dufter pragtfuldt. Smuk pool , lækker høj service og fantastisk mad. Have rundt poolen med palmer,duftende frangipane træer med de smukke hvide blomster. Ren pool, meget høj service generelt overalt og et utrolig sødt og smilende personale. Vi sov på fløjen så havde en lille gåtur men det var fint. Sejlede en enkelt gang med deres shuttlebåd. Også meget flot mulighed. Morgenmaden var overdådig som jeg husker den. Dog er stedet meget stort og meget fyldt hvilket desværre trækker ned på den samlede oplevelse. Det føltes for hektisk og specielt i morgenmaden er der en meget stressende energi. Meget ærgelig da stedet er meget smukt.
Cons: Følelsen af alt for mange mennesker. Særligt morgenmaden.

Everything! We stayed 3 nights, only wish it could have been longer! One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Can’t thank the staff enough for making our short stay so enjoyable. It’s a great prime location for getting to see most attractions. Our room was amazing, o looking the river with far reaching views across the vibrant city. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Although we have stayed at the Shangri-La Bangkok before it is some time since our last stay and we spent another 7 days in the Krungthep Wing. The rooms are unchanged and some might find them old fashioned but our room was lovely, comfortable bed and spacious. The bathroom is classical and spacious, there is no soap or shampoo dispenser by the bath though which should be put right. We always carry spare soap fortunately. Our one criticism of the room is that in this day and age we would expect a proper coffee machine in a five star hotel. We made do with the kettle and instant coffee but it is not that nice. The balcony river view is spectacular as always. Breakfast is now served in the Next2 restaurant. It used to be served (as well as evening cocktails and canapes) in the large space at the front of the wing which is now empty. The breakfast selection was excellent but it was extremely busy (at all times) and it is quite a long walk each time. For clients with limited mobility this would be an extreme disadvantage. The pool at the Krungthep Wing is excellent, comfortable sun loungers and great service from all the staff there. It was rarely busy and a pleasure to relax and watch the activity on the busy river. So overall some obvious cutbacks but we enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.

We could find no fault with this amazing hotel with without doubt the most amazing location. The staff are so friendly and attentive they make you feel special. The little added extras from, the courtesy ferry boat direct from the hotel to the Iconsiam shopping mall (which is an amazing place), cocktails with free petit fours to accompany the cocktails. The location is perfect to explore Bangkok and we couldn’t recommend this hotel and its staff more highly.

This hotel is past its sell by date. It may have facilities (spa, pool, room service etc) to call itself 5 star which now it realistically is not. I am sure it was 35 years ago, but now it its merely very tired and living off past glories. The rooms are clean but very very dated, the room air con smells of old, you know a musty smell. The controls are falling apart. They don't even supply soap or gel for the bath tub, you have to get out of the bath and use a glass to get shower gel from the fixed shower dispensers. As a family we have 3 rooms, we would never stay here again, it is not what you would expect from an internationally renowned hotel chain. It is second class compared to genuine 5 star hotels in this wonderful vibrant city.

Les parties communes de l’hôtel sont très belles, le personnel chaleureux et à l’écoute. Le lobby est grandiose avec pianiste le soir, la piscine est très agréable. L’emplacement de l’hôtel est excellent.
Cons: La piscine privatisée 2 jours à partir de 16h00 sur un séjour de 6 jours cela fait beaucoup à mon sens. Les derniers jours il y avait des groupes du coup le petit déjeuner n’était pas très reposant.

We flew in from Chiang Rai in the evening so it was mid evening when we got here. Check in was a bit slower than we have been used to in other Bangkok hotels in the area. We had a Horizon Club Room. This had a room with comfy chairs and a small table with another chair by a desk, and a tea/coffee making area with a mini bar as well. There was side room with a table, chair and mirror, a large wardrobe, a suit handing stand and an area which could take 2 large cases. The bedroom had a large double bed as well as a chair and a sofa by the window. A large bathroom, with twin washing basins, a bath and a walking shower, plus more than sufficient towels. Being so high up the room had an amazing view out over the city as well as the river. We were only here one night. The next day breakfast was in the Horizon Club, which is included in the room price. I had expected it to be busy but was pleasantly surprised to find this was not the case, in fact it was quiet. Tea and coffee are served to you and the rest is a pretty extensive buffet. We were able to get a table by a window to continue the view experience. After breakfast we went around what grounds there are which mainly consist of those around the pool area. There were lots of sun loungers as well as trees to provide shade it you want it. Then of course the river and all the river traffic. Our flight out was late evening so we asked if we could keep our room but this was not possible. The reception offered us another room at a small cost. This could not be allocated until after we had checked out. After checking out at 12.00 we went into the Long Bar in the Hotel. This was quiet and much less busy than the rest of the hotel. Very friendly and attentive service and by 13.20 I got a message to say our room was ready. The concierge had our luggage and delivered it to the room. The room was over the hotel entrance but still had a small river view. It was smaller than the Horizon room but had all you would need if you were staying there several nights. Due to our flight time, we wanted a meal at c.16.00 and decided to have room service. This was a very good meal and was served up very nicely. Check out was fine. This is a larger hotel than others I have stayed at nearby and has perhaps a more busy, functional atmosphere, however this would certainly not stop me from returning. Given our short stay there are many aspects of the hotel I cannot comment on.

We stayed at the Shangri-La Bangkok for 3 nights. The hotel is in a great location, directly facing ICONSIAM, and the river views are beautiful — especially from higher floors (we were on the 25th floor and the view was fantastic). The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety and high quality. The hotel is in a classic Thai style, so if you are looking for something ultra-modern, this might not be the right choice. However, the overall service is 5-star level. The only downside during our stay was a persistent noise coming from the roof. That said, the staff was very responsive and proactive in trying to resolve the issue, and the technical team made efforts to reduce the disturbance, especially at night. If you are assigned a room on the 25th floor (which offers great views), we recommend checking in advance about possible noise, as it can affect your sleep. Overall, a very good stay with just a few points to improve.

Me and Wife spent 2 nights in the Premier with Balcony overlooking the river on 14th floor. The view is amazing don't get me wrong, but the price is way to high for the standard of that is to low. Looks outdated and tired with to many flaws, 2 towels wich is so small you can't even wrap around your body after a shower, sure you can call the reception for more towels but should be in the room from start, and bigger towels. Breakfast is a extra 1500 pp that should be included in my world for that price we paid for the room, and the breakfast itself is a buffe to boot. All in all we felt we could get more and better quality elsewhere for the money spent.

Die Lage direkt am Fluss und der Blick vom Balkon sind klasse. Zudem sind die Zimmer sehr groß. Das Personal ist - wie überall in Thailand - extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Thai-Restaurant im alten Stil ist ebenfalls aufgrund der Lage direkt am Fluss und eine gute Küche empfehlenswert.
Cons: Ein Riesenkomplex, die Aussage, dass wir in ca. 5 Minuten Fussweg (indoor) in unserem Trakt sind, war zutreffend und äußerst lästig. Bemüht um den Flair eines Grand Hotels entsprachen Ausstattung und Zustand dem allerdings nicht, vieles machte einen etwas abgewohnten Eindruck. Zudem waren die Zimmer trotz Zusage nicht zeitgerecht parat. Freundlicherweise wurde uns dafür ein Frühstück kostenlos zugestanden. Dieses war okay, durch die hohe Belegung (ca. 800 Zimmer) war es aber fast nicht möglich, einen Platz zu finden. Die ca. 35 Euro für das Frühstück (pro Person) hätten uns geärgert. Da geht man doch besser auf die Straße in eines der Cafés.

We visit this hotel since over 40 years. It is still an elegant hotel, though a bit dated, and we especially love the pool and the garden area, overlooking the river. However, we had a bad surprise this year when we arrived: booking.com had cancelled our reservation using my outdated credit card, and not the one l had given when updating my reservation details. They refused to refund the difference of € 980 I had to pay to get the very last room due to the Chinese New Year. I will never use booking.com again when booking this hotel, but use their own reservation system.
