Отель расположен через дорогу (50м) от ЖД вокзала, для нас это было важно, мы приезжали в Болонью на поезде, а улетали на самолете, с ЖД вокзала до аэропорта 7 минут на Маркони экспресс, очень удобно и при этом даже при открытых окнах, выходящих на вокзал абсолютно не было слышно поездов. До исторического центра чуть больше 1 км, приятная прогулка под колонадами. Очень качественная уборка номера и приятные комплименты

Es war okay, ein großes schon etwas älteres Hotel. Eher Massenabfertigung, aber damit war zu rechnen. Die Lage sehr zentral. Wer mit dem Zug anreist, braucht nur über den Zebrastreifen zu gehen.

Cons: Das Parken war etwas unbequem. Die Einfahrt sieht man nur schwer und es ist stressig bei diesem Verkehr rechtzeitig die Einfahrt zu entdecken. Dann übergibt man sein Auto und es wird geparkt, das heißt gleich alles mitnehmen, damit man nicht nochmal zum Auto muss, um was zu holen. Man hat ja keinen Schlüssel mehr. Außerdem kostet es für 24 Stunden ca. 25 Euro. Das Zimmer ist okay, nicht mehr das neueste und das Bettlakensystem ist etwas eigen (Die Bettdecke ist in die Leintücher eingeschlagen, kann also rausschauen. Ich mochte das nicht so, da ich einen Fleck auf der Decke entdeckte und dann schauen musste, dass das Leintuch immer schön drüber bleibt). Frühstück ist okay, alles da, aber nichts Aufregendes.

L'hôtel est calme malgré sa taille. Nous avons bénéficié d'un surclassement et nous avons eu une grande chambre. La literie est très confortable. Beaucoup de choix au petit-déjeuner, c'était parfait. Nous avons dîné dans le restaurant de l'hôtel et nous vous le recommandons. Le personnel est au top. Cet établissement a un parking ce qui est très appréciable même s'il est payant.

Location is one of the key benefits of the hotel: close to the station and city center. They also offer a parking (30€/24h). Room was quite spacious with a good bed and complimentary water (both still and sparkling, changed every day)

Cons: Hotel best times are definitely left behind, everything inside looks old and very used. Breakfast is quite poor with a small selection of food, and every day the same. They added 5% from the total amount of stay to our bill as a voluntary contribution (if we like the service), when I asked to remove the man at the reception did it but immediately became less polite and nice.

I am writing to formally report a lack of conformity between the room description at the time of booking and the actual conditions experienced during my stay at Starhotels Excelsior Bologna. The room was advertised as equipped with air conditioning. However, the system was either centrally disabled or not functioning in cooling mode, resulting in a room with stale air, no proper ventilation, and an uncomfortably high temperature, especially during the night. This situation made the room significantly below acceptable comfort standards and inconsistent with what was contractually offered. A room with air conditioning should ensure adequate temperature control or, at minimum, proper air circulation and thermal comfort. Despite raising the issue, no effective solution was provided to restore acceptable conditions (such as cooling, ventilation, or an alternative room). Under basic consumer expectations and service conformity principles, this constitutes a failure to deliver the service as described at the time of booking. I would therefore expect appropriate acknowledgment of this issue and a fair compensation for the discomfort and the discrepancy between the advertised and delivered service.

The hotel is directly opposite the train station and easy to get to from the airport. I took the local bus there - which cost 2.30 euro's. The bus stop is situated on the right as you exit the station bus stop "Q"- although it is not easy to see/ signposted. You can use contactless when you board the bus- do not tap out at the end of your journey though. It takes around 30-40 minutes to its final stop which is the Oesdepal Maggiore. You need to take another local bus 23 toward the main train station. I walked - it took about30 minutes. The Hotel. My room was on the second floor facing the main road /towards the train station. It is noisy, so if you are a light sleeper- request a room with an even number- they face the rear of the hotel. The room was very well equipped: Free to use safe. Hairdryer. Ample storage. Hand wash. Shower gel. Shampoo. Tissues. Hairdryer. Bath robe. Slippers. Mini bar. Tea and coffee making facilities. The room was on the small size, but it was comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was large with a walk in shower- although, the entry is quite small. Although I did not request room make ups- whenever I called reception for fresh towels they were brought to my room immediately. There were individual heart shaped chocolates on each bedside table for the turn down. There was a pillow menu! I didn't have breakfast or eat at the hotel- so I can't comment on the food. Nearby is the Piazza Maggiore, two towers. I walked to the Sanctury of the Madonna- San Luca-you can walk up (which is a long way and very steep at times!) There is a miniature train (From the Piazza Maggiore) you can take to the sanctuary. There is an Aldi about 15 minutes' walk from the hotel for any provisions. I found a lovely restaurant a five minute walk from the hotel (Turn right when you leave the hotel) it is called "The Bologna Food Gallery" I have reviewed this separately. There is a lovey café/bar to the left of the hotel called "Bar Stazione" This place is very welcoming and very reasonable prices for drinks - (Beer 4 euro for a large bottle of Moretti). There is a Chinese restaurant next door (left) of the hotel. The food is served piping hot, very tasty and reasonably priced. One thing I wish I had known before travelling from the airport to the hotel… There is a Monorail train that runs between the airport and the hotel- two stops only… It takes about 7-8 minutes!! The cost is 12.80 euro, just tap your card phone for entry- there is no tap out as it is not gated at the airport. I got the train to Ravenna for the day, using the same App I use in the Uk (Trainline) to purchase my ticket and saved it to my Apple pay. I visited the Ferrari Museum getting the train from Bologna to Modena. (I have revied it separately). All in all I really enjoyed my time in Bologna and I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again. I only gave it 4 stars- only because of the noise of the road- everything and every member of staff were wonderful. Thank you Star Hotel Excelsior!

The hotel’s location is perfect—right across from Bologna Centrale and within walking distance of the city center. The rooms are extremely well soundproofed, super clean, and very comfortable, which made our stay truly relaxing. I also want to send a huge thank you to the staff for helping me organize a surprise for my father’s birthday. They arranged a cake and a beautiful balloon decoration in the room, and it was absolutely wow — such a special and emotional moment for us. Nice breakfast. Wonderful service, great atmosphere, and an incredible team. Highly recommended!

The reception staff were lovely and very professional. The room was good and I liked that both windows opened so fresh air was available. The complimentary robe and slippers were a nice surprise and the shower had excellent pressure. The gym was small but a good workout is still possible with the weights/benches and machines available. Location is great if you have transport via train and don’t mind walking ~30-40 to the other side of the central area (flat and easy).

Cons: I had to ask the housekeeping staff to stop allowing the doors to slam closed with the deadbolt thrown of a morning because the impact reverberated through the walls and literally shook my bed. Not pleasant to wake up to and keep experiencing.

Cons: Stuff- in reception gave me card to door but numer room was wrong… thay didn’t inform customers about big problems with transport because city center was close (marathon). They didn’t inform that I need cc (not on phone) to deposit- I wanted to pay on first day to not use card and I coudn’t do this. It’s XXI century and I don’t use plastic card (only On phone). Dryer was very very weak.

Accoglienza staff top, posizione centralissima e colazione ricca e varia. Stanze grandi, pulite e ben tenute. Siamo stati anche fortunati nel ricevere un upgrade gratuito che sicuramente ha migliorato ancora di più l'esperienza.

Cons: Al checkout ci è stato chiesto se volessimo donare un contributo per lo staff dell'hotel ad alta voce. Sarebbe stato più opportuno invece inserirla nel POS al momento del pagamento dove uno può decidere o meno con il massimo della privacy. Il contributo l'ho dato volentieri visto come è andato il soggiorno ma la modalità con cui si chiede secondo me potrebbe essere diversa. In poche parole quando ti viene chiesto ad alta voce ti senti in soggezione e magari ti senti obbligato a dire di si e non lo trovo giusto.

The location is just superior, right across the Bologna Main Station where you can catch a lot of bus connections and there are many things to do in the general area too. Room was very comfortable and quite spacious with all the necessities including a capsule coffee machine. Andrea at the front desk was magnificent! He helped us with checking in and ensured that our room was perfectly prepared as we added an extra bed. Would recommend to others :)

Cons: Εγινε αποπειρα κλοπης του πορτοφολιου μου και του κινητου μου στο lobby του ξενοδοχειου απο καποιον που καθονταν στο διπλανο τραπεζι . Οταν το ανεφερα στη reception διαπιστωσα οτι δεν γινεται κανενας ελεγχος για αυτους που μπαινουν στο lobby και μαλιστα δεν υπαρχει ουτε μια καμερα για επιτηρηση και αποτροπη.

Według mnie największe atuty tego hotelu to lokalizacja i dobre śniadania. Z hotelu jest blisko do największych zabytkowych atrakcji Bolonii i klimatycznych kafejek i restauracji. Jeżeli planujesz zwiedzanie innych miast to trafiłeś idealnie. Bliskość dworca i świetne połączenia kolejowe sprawiają, że nie musisz w czasie urlopu skupiać się na prowadzeniu auta a Starhotel Excelsior jest świetną bazą wypadową.

Cons: Nasz pokój był bardzo wygodny ale wyposażenie jest już dosyć wysłużone. Moim zdaniem obecnie to jest standard raczej 3 a nie 4 gwiazdkowy ale stosunek jakości do ceny jest ok.

Soluzione davvero invidiabile, per essere di fronte alla Stazione Centrale di Bologna ed a pochi passi dal centro del capoluogo di regione. Oltre a ciò, quello che mi preme evidenziare è l'alta professionalità del personale, davvero straordinario, gentile e molto attento alle esigenze del cliente. Nello specifico, ringrazio chi mi ha accolto in reception, perchè ha fatto un upgrade della stanza, segno di grande cura del cliente, ed al check in Francesco molto attento e preoccupato a rendersi utile. In camera anche caffè per il mattino, molto gradito! Grande accoglienza, grande camera, insonorizzazione perfetta e tutto molto comodo. Super raccomandato!

Torno sempre con grande piacere in quest’hotel che sa fornire servizi degni delle stelle che porta. La posizione è molto comoda visto che si trova di fronte alla stazione ferroviaria e praticamente subito dietro via dell’Indipendenza. Le camere sono arredate in modo classico e seppur non risultano particolarmente in linea con le nuove tendenze, sono assolutamente confortevoli, insonorizzate, grandi. Bagno in marmo ugualmente comodo, seppur a volte viene offerta la doccia ricavata nella vasca. Pulizia ai massimi livelli, personale cortese, ascensori velocissimi, colazione eccellente per scelta e qualità, dai salati ai dolci. Un soggiorno praticamente perfetto.

Struttura datata, ma ben tenuta, con un arredamento classico sempre piacevole e caldo. Staff gentile e disponibile per ogni esigenza. Buona colazione.

Cons: Poche cose in realtà. Forse la posizione in zona stazione. Dista poco dal centro di Bologna, ma abbiamo notato troppi vagabondi che stazionano per le vie.

Die Lage ist top, die Zimmer sind gut, geräumig und sauber. Das Badezimmer wurde frisch saniert und ist sehr gut. Gegen einen Aufpreis konnten die Fahrräder überwacht abgeschlossen werden.

Cons: 15€ pro Person für das Frühstück lohnt sich meiner Meinung nach nicht. Ein grosses Hotel, eher Massenware als mit Liebe gekocht. Da hatten wir in Italien weitaus bessere Angebote. Besser eines des zahlreichen Cafés in der Stadt aussuchen.

The location was excellent, across from the main railway station but quiet. There was a very good selection to suit all tastes at breakfast. The rooms were very comfortable with a high standatd of cleanliness.

Cons: There apoeared to be some issue at check in but my friend and I were both upgraded which was nice. There was also an issue at check out. My friend did receive her invoice and I was told that mine would be emailed to me, I have still to receive my invoice.

Hotel elegante e chic! Lo stile della camera mi è piaciuto tanto, tutto molto pulito,ho adorato il bagno con la vasca, super confortevole, specchio bello grande e tutti gli accessori che occorrono! Ho apprezzato i piccoli dettagli, come le caramelle di benvenuto e il personale molto efficiente e professionale! Posizione dell’hotel : eccellente! Stazione vicinissima, supermercati a 10 minuti, bar gelaterie a due passi e negozi facilmente raggiungibili. Colazione abbondante, molto buona e variegata! Ci ritornerei molto volentieri, davvero una bellissima esperienza ✨

Prima colazione eccellente, camera ampia ed arredata con buon gusto, pantofole ed accappatoio nell'armadio (non usuale per un albergo a 4 stelle), posizione eccezionale davanti alla stazione centrale di Bologna e molti autobus cittadini raggiungibili in pochi minuti. Soggiorno perfetto!

Chambre très au calme malgré que l'hôtel soit en face de la gare, isolation avec le couloir très correcte. L'accueil de l'hôtel est très beau et nous avons même eu le droit à un mocktail offert. Hôtel très bien situé.

Cons: Seul petit bémol, la gestion de la climatisation que nous ne pouvons pas gérer par nous-mêmes et qui nous oblige à systématiquement passer un appel à l'accueil

Gentilezza e disponibilità fuori dal comune Durante il mio soggiorno all’Hotel Excelsior Bologna ho avuto un imprevisto molto spiacevole: mi hanno rotto il vetro dell’auto mentre ero in giro per Bologna. Lo staff del parcheggio dell’hotel è stato semplicemente straordinario: hanno aspirato tutti i vetri, coperto con cura il finestrino rotto e mi hanno permesso di ripartire e viaggiare in sicurezza. Un gesto che va ben oltre il normale servizio alberghiero. Personale super disponibile, umano e professionale. In momenti così capisci davvero il valore di un hotel e delle persone che ci lavorano. Grazie di cuore, tornerò sicuramente e lo consiglio senza esitazioni.

I am always a bit suspicious about hotels near train stations, and Excellsior is litteraly just across Bologna train station. However, Hotel Excellsior proved that stereotype wrong. It is a wonderful hotel, a big, 4 star hotel. Obviously, it was built in the late 70's or early 80's when the building standards were made for real people - spacious rooms, big bathrooms, large beds, wonderful foyer, fast elevators. Rooms are really confortable with lots amenities, including great selcetion of coffee/tea, drinks and snacks in the room. Breakfast room is always busy, but with a great selection of food. One night we spent in a hotel bar and enjyed its realxing and cosy atmosphere sipping execellent Italian wine for very moderate price. I will definitely stay Excelsior again!

Cons: Everything was great. There is a short waiting in line to be seatted for the breakfast, but that gives the hotel a special charm. The lady who is managing places is very professional, so that she makes you feel like a speacial guest of the hotel. So, charming.
