The hotel is exceptional in every sense - the location is ideal, just minutes from the Union Square, the harbour and major museums like the Revoltella. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and modern yet maintain a sense of decor and style that is historic, reminiscent of Austria-Hungary. Most rooms also have very large balconies with stunning views of the harbour. The staff are polite and helpful. Overall a marvellous experience and I highly recommend staying here.

We came off a cruise ship and location was fantastic. Directly across the street from the cruise terminal. Breakfast was plentiful with many choices. Unfortunately we only had 1 night in the hotel and left very early the next mrning for the airport. Since we arrived 6 hours before check in, staff was very helpful in taking and securing our luggage.

Cons: Ondanks drie klachten is er niets gedaan aan de airconditioning op de kamer, gevolg drie nachten in de hitte. We kregen een ventilator maar die maakte zoveel lawaai dat slapen geen optie was. Uiteindelijk met de kamerdeur open geslapen want uit de hal kwam nog enige koele lucht. Onveilig, niet waarvoor we betaald hebben. We hebben een zeezichtkamer geboekt, gevraagd maar niet gekregen, maar ook het geld niet terug. Schandalig hoe dit afgehandeld is.

Cons: Wir hatten Dinner im hauseigenen Savoy-Restaurant. Sehr aufmerksamer Service (wenngleich beim Wasser-Service und dem Nachfüllen von Wein mehr proaktive Aufmerksamkeit gefragt wäre - wir mussten wiederholt selbst nachschenken. Die Menukarte gut. Wir vermissten einen "Gruss aus der Küche", der eigentlich üblich wäre - nichts. Wir hatten einen Wein bestellt. Die Weingläser - nein, sowas geht gar nicht. Kein Kristall, sondern einfaches Glas, einfache Form. Sorry, für ein Haus dieses Standards geht so etwas überhaupt nicht! Die Weinliste ist sehr auf italienische Weine und Weine der Region fixiert. Da werden die bekannten Klassiker angeboten, aber auch jeweils nur einer (allerdings ordentlich ausgewählt). Da wäre auch eine breite Auswahl angesagt - für ein Haus, das wirklich einen Anspruch hat, an der Spitze zu stehen, war das dürftig.

Ein wunderschön und mit viel Stil renoviertes Hotel, in dem der Charme vergangener Zeiten noch an jeder Ecke spürbar ist. Unser Zimmer war geräumig, mit sehr bequemen Betten und hochwertigem Bettzeug. Die Klimaanlage ließ sich einfach einstellen, war angenehm leise und blies nicht direkt auf das Bett – ein großer Pluspunkt. Auch die Illy-Espressomaschine auf dem Zimmer haben wir sehr geschätzt. Besonders positiv war auch die hervorragende Schallisolierung: Bei geschlossenen Fenstern war trotz der Lage keinerlei Straßenlärm zu hören. Sowohl im Zimmer als auch im Badezimmer gab es ausreichend Ablageflächen, was den Aufenthalt besonders komfortabel gemacht hat. Hervorheben möchten wir außerdem die ausgesprochen freundliche Reinigungsdame und die sehr hilfsbereiten Pagen, die den positiven Gesamteindruck perfekt abgerundet haben. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen.
Cons: Kleine Verbesserungsvorschläge gibt es dennoch: Zwei koffeinhaltige Kaffeekapseln pro Tag sind etwas knapp bemessen. Schade fanden wir außerdem, dass es keinen Kooperationsrabatt mit der Garage San Giusto gibt. In der Hotelbar hätten ein paar kleine Knabbereien wie Nüsse oder Chips zum Getränk den Service zusätzlich aufgewertet. Leider funktionierten auch beide Duscharmaturen nicht einwandfrei – eine war deutlich verkalkt und bei der anderen war der Duschschlauch locker. Insgesamt haben wir uns aber sehr wohlgefühlt und würden das Hotel aufgrund seines besonderen Ambientes und des hohen Komforts gerne weiterempfehlen.

Cons: The few things that bothered us for the price we paid (over $1,000.00 Cdn. per night) was the level of maintenance of our room. The living room carpet had a large stain in it over by the table. The balcony steel railings were all rusty and needed paint also the wood trim on the outside window frame's needed paint. Our room had a kitchenette room but there were no utensils and if you wanted some you had to pay extra euro's to get them and there was no microwave. In our humble opinion the level of maintenance should have been much higher for our room to keep it to the level expected from the Savoia Excelsior Palace.

Didn't have the breakfast, we thought we would get a better price outside the hotel, which we did. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The lounge was beautiful. The location was excellent. Great meeting point for our tour guides. Very centralized. The porters were excellent. Very friendly.

Cons: We traveled with our dog and paid a €60 ‘deep cleaning’ fee, which is higher than most hotels charge, but I was fine with that. The problem was the carpet in our room, which had multiple visible stains and clearly hadn’t been deep cleaned in a long time. Paying a premium cleaning fee for a room that isn’t clean doesn’t feel justified. I wouldn’t return.

Die Lage ist DER Pluspunkt dieses Hotels! Der Parkservice hat sehr gut funktioniert - kostet und funktioniert! Das Frühstück war reichlich und es gab eine große Auswahl!
Cons: Die Zimmerkarte hat jeden Tag mindestens 1 x nicht funktioniert - musste dann jedesmal zur Rezeption und eine neue besorgen - und nein wir hatten die Karte nicht in der Nähe vom Mobiltelefon,… Anstellen vor dem Speisesaal für das Frühstück - der Frühstücksraum ist für die große Anzahl der Gäste zu klein!

Everything was beyond perfection. The hotel is located in a 20th-century palace and blends perfectly with the surrounding architecture. Piazza Unità, which I think is the most beautiful square in Italy, is just a few steps away, and in front of you lies the beautiful molo of Trieste — you can see the Faro della Vittoria up on the hill, the harbour, and Molo Audace. You can’t ask for a better location. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom is ample and accessible for disabled guests, the bed and pillows are super comfortable, the air conditioning is great, and the valet parking is a plus. Breakfast was amazing: plenty of savoury and sweet choices, everything fresh and of high quality. The staff was attentive and kind. Everything was spotless. The only remark I’d make is that, since the hotel is in Italy, it would be nice to be greeted in Italian first when entering the restaurant or checking in, rather than assuming we’re foreigners. The dinner at the restaurant was gorgeous. After two months on the road eating nothing but fish and meat, I could finally enjoy my favourite dish again — I had missed pasta terribly. If you are travelling to Trieste, you can’t miss this hotel.

Grand hotel in a great location just along the seafront from the main Piazza Unità d'Italia, facing the ships. Restaurants in the streets behind the hotel and the streets off the square. Central Trieste easily walkable including to the Roman theatre, “canal” area and up the small hill to the castle via the little streets. For Miramare (2 crowded buses) you can use the bus stop outside the hotel for the initial bus. Good bathroom.

Beautiful belle époque hotel in a great location on the port. The room was larger than expected with a great balcony and view of the coast. Great choice of toiletries, tea and coffee in the room and complimentary water. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The checkin staff saw my dietary requirements and immediately recommended some restaurants in the area. Easy to stop in front of the hotel for valet parking.

This was the fourth time, that we had stayed at this traditional and historic hotel in as many years. We were welcomed as long lost friends by Valentina and Arianna on reception. The staff are all very friendly. The breakfast was good as usual and the bedroom suite on the first floor overlooking the Gulf of Trieste was capacious and very comfortable. The location of this hotel is excellent being very central and right on the Esplanade. The wifi worked well. Room service staff were very efficient and most obliging.
Cons: Like last time, the hot breakfast items could have been much warmer. The shower over the bath could be tricky to enter and to leave.

Ein großartiges, sehr stillvolles Hotel in perfekter Lage. Die Einrichtung, das Gebäude und auch unser Zimmer 362, waren sehr schön. Es ist ein besonderes Haus. Direkt gegenüber dem Anleger für Kreuzfahrtschiffe.
Cons: Mit dem Zimmerservice hatten wir kein Glück. Da sind jede Menge Verbesserungen möglich. Karte war weg, Bad Reinigung sehr oberflächig. Dem Personal beim Frühstück fehlte, zum Teil, die nötige Aufmerksamkeit und einige hatten eine unangenehme Art. Es wirkte überheblich. Nochmal, das war nur ein Teil.

Everything. It’s a beautiful hotel, built in the early part of the 20th century, and so has large open spaces, wide corridors, high vaulted ceilings …. I could go on. The rooms are elegant and well equipped. Marble bathrooms and all the little touches one would expect, but often don’t get. The Dinner was very good and the breakfast amazing. The staff were super helpful and all our needs were instantly met. Perfectly positioned for joining a cruise ship as the terminal,is on the other side of the road.
Cons: One lift was being repaired which meant long waits occasionally for the lifts. A minor inconvenience and one that will be resolved soon.

Wunderschönes altes Hotel! Ich frage mich warum es keine fünf Sterne hat sondern nur vier. Vielleicht weil am Abend die Betten nicht gemacht werden? Oder kein Willkommensgeschenk am Tisch steht ? Es war alles perfekt, sauber und gediegen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Die Lage perfekt neben der Altstadt und am Hafen. Das einzige was den Genuss vielleicht gedrückt hat, war die Tatsache ,dass direkt vor unserem Fenster, Blick auf den Hafen, mit Balkon, an zwei von vier Tagen in Riesenschiff gelegen ist, sollte man bei der ZimmerWahl berücksichtigen, falls man ein Zimmer mit Meerblick gebucht hat. Dieses fährt allerdings am Abend wieder weg und unter Tags ist man eh nicht am Zimmer ,also am Abend hat man dann wieder freie Sicht.

Wunderbar unser Zimmer mit Balkon & direktem Blick auf das Treiben an den Schiffsanlegern - ja, das ist besonders, diese Riesen-Kreuzfahrtschiffe aus der Nähe zu betrachten. Das gefällt vielleicht nicht jedem - wir mochten es, weil außergewöhnlich! Und wir schätzten Parkplatz-Service: nur Ausladen, Gepäck wurde uns gebracht, Wagen wurde in eine Garage gefahren und am nächsten Tag nach kurzem Aviso wieder vor die Tür gebracht.

This is a sort of nothing-to-complain-about hotel but it sort of lacks a bit of soul. One can see that they have done their best to convert a building but it seemed to me to lack a bit of character. To the positives, I found the service friendly and professional, the concierge found us excellent dining options. The location is perfect, even watching the cruise boats pull in and out from our balcony was entertaining. I was sort of looking for a roof top bar or a pool, but these are not a feature. The room, with a nice view was on the small side, especially the bathroom. Breakfast was fine, but not a big plus point. Finally, Trieste is an interesting, lovely city we really enjoyed, especially the historical city center and the ice cream.

Walked from the cruise ship across the road and we were in the Hotel! Super convenient for the town too with sites and restaurants within an easy walk and views across the bay. We were lucky to book the presidential suite which is bigger than a flat with a huge living room, bedroom and bathroom and a triple width balcony offering panoramic views in all directions. Luxuriously appointed with quiet but effective air conditioning and triple glazing and a huge firm bed providing a quiet and comfy night. The marble bathroom floor is heated in case you don't wear the colour coordinated slippers. My wife mentioned that the marble dining table could also have benefitted from being heated as it was cold on her bottom. The balcony is great for relaxing and sunbathing and there are cushions on the balcony furniture. There is both a bath and separate massage shower. The shower has many additional water jets which can be adjusted to wherever requires a massage which is nice. Room service was good as were the chamber maids who kept the suite clean and provided treats with the turn down service. Breakfast was sufficient and good value. There is an optional 5% service charge added on checkout for staff - we paid it as the service is good but I think this should be mentioned on arrival otherwise it looks a bit 'sharp' although it was made very clear it was entirely voluntary. If you want a luxury, romantic, stimulating start or end to your cruise and the chance to discover Trieste book a few nights in the President suite at this hotel.

My husband and I recently stayed at Savoia Excelsior Palace. We were disappointed with our stay. Prior to making our reservatin, I had read reviews that mentioned "recent updates." This was not our experience. Our room was quite dated, and the carpet was stained in several places. We did mention this to the staff when we checked out, but it didn't seem to be a big deal to them. The breakfast was very good with lots of options. The location was very convenient - about a 15 minute walk to the train station and main bus station and key Trieste sights. Very close to the Canova District, which we really enjoyed.

A Prime Experience We stayed at this hotel to meet a cruise ship, and it was an excellent experience in every way. However, the best part was the great location. It is an easy walking distance to all of the great shops and restaurants. Over flat walking surfaces, it is a close, easy walking distance to any location from the hotel. The exception is the Miramare Castle tour. We used a cab, however, there is an uphill trek to the castle which could prove challenging for some.

Friendly staff and an outstanding Concierge Guilio Olenik who is one of the best Concierge’s I have experienced. He gave us fabulous advice on a walking tour of Trieste, a boat trip to Muggia, an excursion to Miramar and suggested restaurants and spots to stop for coffee and a snack and was so friendly and approachable. I highly rate him having been in the travel industry for many years. Trieste is under rated and we have loved our 3 days here! It is affordable, unspoilt and not as hectic as Venice, Milan, Rome and Florence! In a nutshell it is delightful! Es herrscht, trotz der Größe und Weitläufigkeit des Hotels, eine familiäre, heimische Atmosphäre. Das Personal ist zuvorkommend, hilfsbereit und sehr freundlich, egal an wen man sich wendet. Die Lage ist top. Wir hatten ein großes Zimmer, sehr ruhig, sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Der Frühstücksraum war beeindruckend, das Frühstück selber ebenfalls ausgezeichnet. Wir schwärmen immer noch. Wir kommen wieder. Vielen Dank für den wunderschönen Aufenthalt.

Great hotel with perfect location. The room was large with a large bathroom and well appointed amenities. Very nice lobby and bar. The breakfast was good in a very nice room with a view. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Cons: I would have liked a bath with separate tub and walk in shower but this hotel does not have walk in showers. There is a nice view of the water except when the cruise ships dock in front of the hotel.

Beautiful, luxurious hotel with stunning water views. I had my backpack stolen on the train and Guido at the concierge desk was fabulous. He arranged for the nearby pharmacy to help me refill my scripts, etc. The breakfast is a huge offering of delicious local produce. The staff, from front desk to housekeeping, were all polite and friendly. Ferry trip to Muggia is a must as is a trip to the Castello.

Cons: Die WC-Spülung war defekt und der WC-Sitz gebrochen! Ein Zimmermädchen müsste das melden! In so einem schönen Hotel müssten eigentlich die Handtücher am Abend getauscht werden. In den Eimern befanden sich PVC-Säcke die leider viel zu klein waren und eher einem Verschluss ähnelten. Ohne wäre wohl angebrachter gewesen.

The reception Staff were excellent -They arranged to change our room to one with a Balcony and re arranged the costs as we had booked a Presidential Suite ( assuming it had a balcony -it did not) at a higher price and charged the lower price for the room with a balcony -

Cons: The rooms were not quite up to the expectations of a four star resort and the hotel kept trying to upsell you on room accommodations and other amenities. Breakfast was not included and they tried to upsell you on purchasing the breakfast add on at 25 euros per person at check in and if we didn’t select that option 30 euros per person. We were able to find several other breakfast options outside of the hotel at a much greater value.

Die Lage ist TOP. Das Auto kann man vor der Türe abstellen und es wird in eine Garage gebracht - das ist PERFEKT! Das Frühstück ist bestens. Alles in allem - hervorragend.
Cons: Die Toilette sollte getrennt vom Badezimmer vorhanden sein - besonders in den großen Zimmern wäre Platz dafür.

The only reason less than 5 stars is because air conditioning continued to give us trouble. After a third complaint, a fellow came to the room and changed the filter. It began to work far better, though we when we went out for the day we came back to the room warm again. After calling the desk, it was turned down and cooled sufficiently once more… the room is beautiful, though the carpet could do with a good cleaning - wore slippers throughout the room stay. Breakfast was nice. Outstanding fluffy towels and robes. Excellent water front location. Would definitely stay here again.

Entretanto, houve um problema extremamente desagradável e extremamente desabonador. Estávamos de carro e o deixamos no estacionamento do hotel, o qual é longe e o serviço funciona com valet. Havíamos lido em avaliações no Booking algumas reclamações sobre o serviço ser demorado e portanto que a retirada do carro deveria ser solicitada com bastante antecedência. Sabendo disto, quando do nosso check out solicitei o carro no dia anterior para que estivesse disponível às 8:30 h da manhã e alertei ENFATICAMENTE, que não poderia haver atrazo em hipótese alguma porque tínhamos um voo marcado. Recebi como resposta que a entrega do carro seria "pontualíssima", que não deveria me preocupar. Para encurtar a novela, só recebi o carro às 8:50 h, após muitas reclamações na recepção, dois telefonemas das recepcionistas (desinteressadas) para o pessoal do estacionamento e desculpas esfarrapadas. Consideramos o atendimento recebido absolutamente descompromissado e irresponsável tanto da recepção quanto, evidentemente, do serviço de valet. Fica então o alerta - o hotel é bom mas não se pode confiar nos serviços.

Einst luxuriöstestes Hotel der k.u.k. Monarchie. Dieser Charme ist noch zu verspüren. Parkplätze sind Mangelware in Triest, gegen Aufpreis von 30.- EUR/Tag kann das Auto extern garagiert werden. Frühstück gegen Aufpreis 25.- EUR/Tag ist sehr zu empfehlen.
Cons: Am Ende des Aufenthalts wurde eine Trinkgeldpauschale erbeten, welche 5% des Gesamtpreises umfasste. Trinkgeld sollte etwas freiwilliges und persönliches bleiben.

Cons: Hotel car valet service demaged my car. My car was clean and perfect condition, but after valet service, car has some demage snd scratches. Hotel said they are not responsible for demage, as valet service is done by agency they are renting. Car service valet agency doesnt want to refund. I spoke with Director of Savoia, Riccardo, but still hotel answer is that it is not their responsibility. Pretty unpleasant and experience very bad. Will not stay in this hotel. They are similar choices in Trieste with better entire accomodation

Localização perfeita para quem embarca ou desembarca no porto de Trieste, o hotel è exatamente em frente ao terminal. Cafè da manhã excelente, grande variedade de itens como salgados, salmon defumado, doces, geleias diversas e espumante. Staff atencioso, principalmente por parte dos carregadores de malas.
Cons: Check-in às 15:00hrs, não foi possìvel liberarem o quarto antes, porèm guardaram nossas as malas no guarda volume, mas gerou um certo incomodo pois desembarcamos do cruzeiro logo pela manhã.
