Something out of a dream! La Mamounia was a recommendation from a dear friend, but it is easy to know you will be arriving to paradise after reading reviews of this historical property. Flawless luxury and the highest level of service at every turn. One of the most fabulous properties we have ever stayed in the world. We will be back!

Our stay at La Mamounia was exceptional, the architecture was so beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It was walking distance to Jemaa el-Fnaa and the souks. Our room was beautiful, very clean and comfortable, the food was amazing as was the hammam and pool. Only negative was the view from the Hivernage suite, there isn’t one, only the hotel roof. But will definitely return.

Poor service, beautiful grounds. For $1000 a night you can do much better. Stay elsewhere and come over for a drink. Most of the staff is smiling and friendly but just inefficient or don’t care. Always several people standing around but never actually helping. The concierge is just rude. And if you are walking around town in the heat and try to return with a Peligrino you picked up from a vendor — they will confiscate it so you have to buy it inside! Absurd! If you’re thinking of a luxury resort where you are treated like a pampered guest, this is not it.

Greatly disappointed and dissatisfied by the service and staff. Staff had a general attitude problem starting from reception to the AC maintenance guy. Not a family friendly hotel, even though i didnt have kids with me, but the focus of the hotel is geared toward the night life customers.

Took a long time for room to be ready past—almost two hours beyond check in time. Sat outside for a few hours which was fine but we had given up our bags so no clothes to change to. Room was nice but tight space. The problem was how loud it was at night. We faced the pool so took a long time to fall asleep. Maybe ask for a quiet room. We had come from truly fabulous places in Morocco so this was our only disappointment

The history, the beautiful gardens. The standard rooms are unfortunately small and in keeping with the original design, can be arranged awkwardly. I loved the facilities though and think that is worth the room rates, and the food here was amazing. The Italian restaurant we went to for dinner served a most delicious prawn spaghettini and the lunch buffet was a great mix of choice (without being overwhelming) and deliciousness.

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. As was our room, including the patio area. Service was quite good (generally excellent but occasionally inconsistent). The garden is gorgeous, but also a tourist attraction in itself so gets busy with tourists not staying at the hotel. This means you are constantly asked by staff if you’re a guest. The restaurants are good but relatively pricey for what they offer. One major detractor for us was that people smoke indoors, everywhere. We had our dinner at the Marjorelle cafe ruined twice by a guy smoking a cigar. This is a Marrakech issue more than a hotel issue, but it really bothered us. Oh, and the diffuser they use is incredible (we bought some in the boutique).

Horrible experience. unclean. we checked in to find the trash wasn't emptied. Took 20 mins to get our bags. crowds of people at the entrance. Spoke to their general manager who had a bad attitude and was unwelcoming. Even some of the housekeeping staff were unfriendly. The night manager lacked experience on how to deal with guests properly. I informed them that it was our anniversary. Shockingly, all they did was to put a plate in our room with 7 pieces of berries. In contrast, we stayed at the Four Seasons Marrakech where they filled our room with rose petals and accommodated our every need. Strongly avoid it. There are much better options in Marrakech such the Four Seasons and Royal Mansour. Not worth a single dirham.

Sublime property from entrance, to lobby, hallways, restaurants, spa, pool, and magnificent gardens! The hotel is just beautiful. There are special things to discover everywhere. One of our favorites was the secret ice cream parlor in the magnificent garden. Orange trees complemented by the delicate scent of date and birdsong surround you. The staff is also incredibly thoughtful and welcoming. We were so sad when it was time to leave.

The garden, the renovation of the old palace building, the swimming pool, the quality of housekeeping services, the room comfort are top, congratulations. The Food and Beverage dept needs to be better managed: breakfast at a palace cannot have old dry bread offered or uncooked and dry old potatoes in e - but in our case two mornings in a row- offered to customers. And all staff should smile a minimum and clear dishes from guests tables with kindness and care, not just rude promptness. Seafood salad at Italian restaurant - most expensive starter - cannot have undercooked clams or unfresh items to bother stomach later, I was badly surprised. Deserts were amazing but the rest requires double-checking. The policy for late checkout - especially for just 2h extra - by asking the guest to come to the reception desk the day of departure instead of working it out at checkin when requested - is not what one can expect in such premises. This IS a palace, not a mid class hotel. Promptness to answer the phone, especially at the Spa, needs to be reviewed. And apparently there’s is a lack of staff there, seems all is full all the time…disappointing because it is such a fine place and location otherwise. The rest is up to what one can expect or beyond. But these lacks of attention can really generate unnecessary stress and damage a stay which for such a price should be perfect or close to it. Would like to be back to see if things in these areas will improve or not.

Sadly this hotel is extremely over-rated. I stayed for one week at the end of January 2025 and was very disappointed when we were shown to our room. We were led down a set of stairs to the lower ground floor and along a dark corridor. On entry the small room, the walls, curtains and decor were very dark which added to what I would say made for a depressing stay. The space was so limited we even had to put out cases outside on the ledges of the windows. I struggled to even see my clothes in the wardrobe. On the first evening when we closed the curtains the rail fell off the bracket and the curtain rings fell to the floor. No kettle or tea making facilities. I had to call room service to provide these as there was only a coffee machine in the room. We ordered room service for breakfast but there was no table. We just had to sit in bed to eat. There was a very unpleasant smell on entering the room - like rotten eggs. Around the pool, if you were happy to tip heavily then service was excellent. Sadly, I had saved hard for this break and could not afford to tip so had to look after myself, whilst those that had tipped were waited on hand and foot. The spa was usable, but the pool was not very warm, and the jacuzzi needs some refurbishment work as it is very tired looking. Sadly when walking out of the hotel one morning, along a busy main road I was mugged by a man on a motorbike. Fortunately I had a sixth sense but the shock ruined the remainder of my holiday.

It is always a delight to stay at Manounia. The splendour and intricacies of Moorish-Andalusian architecture and design lavishly unites with the Art Deco styles of the early 20th century, while offering subtle hints of the Berber architecture of the Saharan south, to create a mesmerizing palace honouring the best of Morocco. Even the pool doesn’t disappoint, with temperatures hovering at the 40 degrees, the pool remains at a cool 20 C. The room was spectacular though the mattress was rather hard. Nonetheless, it is strongly recommended for anyone desiring to have a royal experience in the land of the King!

Being one of the most luxurious hotels in Marrakesh I was excited to stay here. It definitely lives up to its reputation and is opulent. The food was overpriced and average but I was okay with that knowing it was about enjoying the room. The spa was excellent, a very nice massage and the staff were very attentive. What disappointed me was when the air conditioning didn’t work for the entire night and I was left in a room that felt like a furnace after a 41 degree day. The night staff couldn’t do anything other than encourage me to open the windows. I woke up drenched in sweat and with the taste of the city fumes in my mouth. The duty manager the next morning refused to comp the room as i had booked via Expedia but offered to waive the fees for my spa, pool side lunch and gave me an airport transfer. All in all it wasn’t quite the experience I had expected for such a premium rate

While the hotel was beautiful and the spa treatments amazing, which we enjoyed, thr service and room issue wasn't up to par for this type of hotel. There were many staff who were kind and helpful. The laundry service was quick too. HOWEVER, upon check in we didn’t receive clear information about the hotel, showm around, etc like many nice hotels and thr concierge was not clear how cloae in walking distance the nice area of Guelliz or the Koutobia was to the hotel and we had wasted a lot of extra time taxi around. We even asked if it was just across the way and they said no but upon leaving for the airport we saw due to the route thr driver took that it was all right there. As guests that should have been shown on the map or made clear especially when we asked. The bigger issue though was plumbing problems upon check in. Coming off an international flight and having issues with both bath and then shower so maintenance came twice to fix within first 24hrs was highly inconvenient and poor treatment as a guest in such a grand hotel. No compensation was offered until i mentioned it and they sent up an apology note and bottle of wine i cant drink (he never checked first or offered to just comp a meal or some cocktails we put to the room). The worst part was that the head of guest relations, didn’t comprehend the issue fully since it was fixed. He instead gave a bag with. heavy diffuser when we're heading to the airport. Ridiculous & cheap response for this hotel.

Wow for a lack of better word. The La Mamounia experience has been unparalleled. From moment of check in to checkout, everyone was so kind and always trying to help. The restaurants were superb and the Sunday brunch was exquisite. The tours were comfortable and spot on to what we wanted to do. All recommendations for outside the hotel were also spot on. We had the most memorable time. We will definitely be back! We must give a shout out to Marouane, the guest relations manager. He greeted us by name each time he saw us and always inquired how we were doing and if there was anything he could do. We were very well looked after. Nothing was too much to ask for. Thank you Marouane!

I received no turn down service; they left a note saying I declined it but I did no such thing, the temperature of shower water was not hot at all. the room was the tightest room I’ve ever slept in in my life at a 5 star hotel AND for $800 a night! And i still had to pay for breakfast. Staff service was ok and the hotel was too dark. The grounds were beautiful and had 2 great places to take pics, but the price wasn’t worth it at all. I will stay at another 5 star hotel next time.

The overall experience was great. Breakfast was great, room service was great, spa was fantastic. The JG restaurant (asian) food was great...service was some of the worst I had anywhere in Morocco. Bar Service on Saturday night was also poor...waited over 45 minutes for a drink.

the hotel is beautiful but. big but. there were two issues, first they didn't clean the room on the first day because they were wrong tto think we booked only one night and then we had to wait outside the room until 17:00 for them to send a cleaning team. Really absurd. Another thing, on the second day (the day of departure) they entered the room twice without knocking on the door, even though it was not time to check out and it felt like they were waiting for us to leave. For the price they charge, this is shocking service that we have not encountered in other luxury hotels and we will not return to this hotel again. think carefully about where you invest your money.

We truly enjoyed our stay at hotel mamounia. The hotel is beautiful, the service is exceptional, and the people so professional and kind. From the moment you enter this palace, the smell, the beauty , the rooms, the details… whether it’s a date near your bed or the most beautiful flowers, you feel like a princess overlooking the most magnificent gardens. If it wasn’t for the wonder of Marrakesh I was tempted to have simply stayed in the hotel. The food was exceptional and the concierge service TOP NOTCH. This Mamounia team could teach the world about guest service! I can’t say one bad thing about this hotel except that I hated to leave and that I cannot wait to come back to la Mamounia in Marrakesh.

Racist and sexist hotel staff especially at the check in. Everywhere we walk to, they asked us for our room number, sometimes the front gate security guard doesnt wanna let us back into the hotel. That’s extremely annoying. If you are not staying at the hotel, don’t even think of coming here. They won’t let you in. Our 6 nights stayed was not worth it. Better to go somewhere else like the Aman.

I have returned to this property several times, and every time it amazes me how well everything is run, the always available and friendly Staff. I would like to add that this time I had excellent service in the bar/patio lounge,in particular Abdelwahd Hremaui he Made my stay so lovely. He welcomed me remembered me from previous times and went out of his way to make sure I was well taken care of. Those small services make any hotel luxurious or not so much more memorable. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

Heavy foot traffic in the lobby and public spaces accounted for less than exclusive experience. We did not get the room upgrade nor the bottle of wine despite reminding the staff. Service was overbearing but did not always follow through, often somewhat rough (especially in the buffet breakfast). The Moroccan restaurant in the property was a joke both in service and quality of food. They gave us a table in the hallway (which shouldn't happen) and the service was inexperienced. The property itself (lobby, ground, pool, garden) was spectacular but service could use to be polished more. Consider staying at the Royal Mansour nextdoor instead.

The property is very luxurious and unique. It claims to be the best hotel in the world but it fails with basic service details. All amenities are not cheap, thus they should be above and beyond expectations.

It was worth it except for the fact that breakfast wasn’t included and it wasn’t indicated on Expedia or at check-in, so we didn’t know and we felt we got jipped when we were charged for breakfast since it was not comensurate to the quality of what they offered.

Excellent hotel in a very good location…. Rooms, garden, pool area and attentiveness of the staff was very good ….Breakfast buffet and the menu was also good … We had lunch at the Italian restaurant which was delicious…. Something to improve would be to expand the menu for the cafe…. There wasn’t many choices …. If I go again to Marrakech I would again stay in this hotel ….

When choosing the „best hotel in Africa“ you have certain expectations - these were not met. The hotel is nice and the premises are spectacular. The food is good as well, but the service and the way they treat you as a guest is only average. It was very disappointing….our reservation showed full Gold benefits as a Gold Hotel.com member / the staff did not only not honor this but was completely unaware of this program…

The hotel itself has a beautiful garden and pool. The indoors are very dark, the room was underwhelming for a 5 star hotel. The restaurant staff was obnoxious. The very pricey breakfast was subpar for any 5 star hotel (food didn’t taste fresh, flies all over the food, trays not replenished). The dinner, excessively pricey, was good but overvalued compared to other fine dining experiences we had in town. Overall we were very dissapointed with the hotel experience

The Hotel is Wonderful! Everything about it says comfort, convenience, pleasure. It is serene, quiet, gardens are beautiful, pool very refined, food at all dinning locations within the hotel were excellent, including the numerous and various bar/libations areas. A splendid venue for travelers who only want the best.
