The staff at the MO Bangkok are truly exceptional. Their ability to remember and recognise guests and treat them more as friends and family is something quite extraordinary to experience. The location and F&B facilities are truly memorable and the rooms good although there are a few aspects of the rooms that could be improved.

The location is great and the accommodation was good The Verandah restaurant was excellent The issues that arose with the concierge, in relation to a non boat pick-up, occasionally in the restaurant but most notably at the front desk on check out seemed all to do with communications, arising mainly due to poor understanding of plain English. This was not an issue at other hotels we stayed at in Thailand and Cambodia, so the Group appears to have challenges to overcome if the hotel is to rated as Excellent, at least by this Reviewer Overall the rating is Very Good, but no better

This was the nicest hotel that I've ever stayed in. From the beautifully appointed room to the excellent breakfast and, of course, the amazing pool, it was a pleasure being here. But the best part of all was the wonderful service from everyone at the hotel. Such a delight! Thank you.

It is really a 6 star in its own right with the attention to detail, rooms, staff and location. 5 stars are so varied, especially in Asia, this is in a league with only a few others. Very expensive, but worth a treat.

This was a beautiful hotel with well-maintained grounds, stunning interiors, and exceptional service. We arrived very early in the morning, and the staff went above and beyond by getting us into a room by 10 a.m.—well ahead of check-in time. Every interaction we had with the team was positive; they were polite, attentive, and proactive in addressing even minor details. The location is great, right on the river, and the team was happy to arrange a tuk-tuk for us anytime. The poolside service was outstanding—drinks were refilled promptly, and the staff even kept our beer on ice so it stayed perfectly cold. The restaurants were excellent as well. Honestly, we have zero suggestions for improvement; this was easily the most perfect hotel experience we’ve ever had.

The MO is a hotel, which stands proud on the banks of the Chao Phraya river and is in a class of its own. The service received from our initial reservation directly with MO, to reception at check-in to the Chao Phraya room, the attentive butler all exceeded our expectations. The room size and décor were comfortable and relaxing, as one would expect. The Veranda buffet breakfast was most satisfying and extensive with the cold towel at the end of the meal a nice touch. We enjoyed lunches at The Veranda and were spoilt by the excellent service from the staff. The treatments at Mandarin Spa provided and excellent start to our stay and was money very well spent! We also had afternoon tea in the Authors Lounge. On making the reservation we were advised on the dress code, again with the Invitation and of course it’s on the notice at entry to the lounge. Men were advised to wear long trousers and shirts with collars. Then why were five men in shorts and one in a tee shirt (29 Oct). If the dress code is not challenged then it’s all a bit pretentious. At Raffles Singapore and the Ritz in London the code is applied! The afternoon tea itself was very good!

It is still the best hotel in Bangkok, but there have been a few minor negative points. It is clear that corners are being cut in terms of quality. The bathroom amenities in the room have been replaced with lower quality ones (the soap, for example, used to have an incomparable, beguiling scent – this has now completely disappeared). The fruit in the room was no longer being replaced. The daily newspaper was no longer in the newspaper box. In the Authors' Lounge, they have also replaced the best quality tea brand, ‘Mariage des Frères’, with its cheaper imitation, TWG. Then there is the catastrophic deterioration of the beloved old China House restaurant – both in terms of interior design (no longer the iconic 1930s Shanghai design, which was absolutely unique, but a boring mainstream design that almost every better Chinese restaurant now has) and the boring selection of dishes, as well as the quality; in some cases, the beef was very chewy. Then the Sala Rim Naam terrace also deteriorated in terms of food quality (except for the sticky rice and mango dessert), and the worst thing was the constant engine noise from the hotel's own boats, which are parked there in the early evening, when we had dinner, with their engines running, making it impossible to have a quiet conversation with the person opposite you – I hope this will be corrected as soon as possible. However, there is also a positive point: the breakfast buffet is now more open and better organised, and the quality of the baked goods has clearly improved. So I hope next year, these issues were solved and I can say from the button of my heart: it is the best hotel in Bangkok.

However if you could improve to have umbrella service to take customers back to transfer boat like other hotels would be much appreciated.(It rained during I take boat transfer back to hotel from ICON SIAM)

The food venues were all outstanding, the amenities were easily first class and the service overall was simply unmatched anywhere we have ever been. I would recommend the experience you have worked to deliver for us to anyone anytime and could not speak of it in any other words than glowing praises with the hope that my words measure up with our feelings. We travel very very often and have stayed at numerous high luxury hotels like Ritz-Carlton, W, The Peninsula , Shangri-La, and others, the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok surpassed our expectations We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the hotel went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated . A welcome gift awaited us in our room, and we were upgraded to an astounding balcony river-view suite. Each detail of the property is completely flawless from the service to the fragrances all around the hotel. The breakfast buffet is 5 stars experience, a wide selection of dishes with a wonderful see of the river waterway. Our dinner at Sala Rim Naam was exceptional, excellent food with an amazing Thai culture show. What really sets this hotel apart is the exceptional staff, I genuinely kind and caring. Every interaction we experienced was warm, welcoming, and really caring. My spouse felt unwell during our staau and they make sure she was comfortable and well looked after. The pool area is wonderful and quiet, with a few little cabanas alongside it. We chose the small pool next to the main one due to a better view of the river waterway and infinite pool Without a question, this is the most excellent hotel we have ever stayed at. Each minute was extraordinary, and it was worth every penny. A really world-class experience

Everything from check in to check out was superb. The staff are highly trained and extremely friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful with attention to every detail. The room was thoughtfully designed, extremely quiet and comfortable. The pillows and bedding are wonderful! The pool is large and there are lots of loungers. The complimentary coconut ice cream was a nice surprise in the afternoon!:) Finally, the breakfast buffet was amazing! Sitting on the terrace overlooking the river having basically anything you can think of for breakfast is something else! We loved every minute of our stay and will be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After more than 15 years, we were looking out to a long-awaited longer stay at the MO in Bangkok. Our airport pickup already raised some concerns. Our names or the hotel name weren't visible. The hotel's designated airport attendant was asleep somewhere. Strange. Eventually, we were escorted to our van. A short drive took us to the hotel. The room is beautiful, bright, and clean, with a lovely river view. A butler is available on the same floor. The restaurant with its riverside terrace is nothing like it once was. The service is poor. The food isn't good, especially considering the prices. The soup is cold and the cocktails are awful. The breakfast buffet is served in the morning on the same terrace. The first few days were fine. Our unforeseen last day was a huge disappointment. We were given a terrible table right next to the buffet, far from the river. It was stuffy. We asked for another table; a table by the river wouldn't be possible, even though many tables were free. The explanation: some guests are more equal than others. Those guests are long-term guests and frequent returnees. Big disgrace. After complaining, we finally got a rather ugly table by the river. For us, it was time to leave the hotel early, never to return. The French F&B management has managed to completely ruin this once-great hotel. Such a shame.

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the entire team at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok for once again making our journey a memorable one. I was delighted to see familiar faces such as Mayuree and Tanguy. Although we missed them at check-in, I truly appreciated that they made time to greet us during breakfast, which really gave us a sense of coming home. The swimming pool remains my favorite facility, and I was very happy to see the poolside team again. Their attentive service is always one of the highlights of my stay. This time, I also had the chance to dine at the newly opened French restaurant. The dishes were refined and creative, especially with the use of Japanese culinary elements and innovative pairings. I was deeply impressed by the colleague who served our table, providing detailed explanations and attentive care, as well as by the host who kindly shared insights into the restaurant’s design. These touches truly elevated the entire experience. Our butlers on the floor was also exceptional. The room was meticulously cleaned, and each time we returned or passed by, they greeted us warmly. Their care added significantly to the overall experience. Additionally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to our day-tour guide, Yo. His detailed explanations and perfectly arranged itinerary allowed me to gain a much deeper understanding of Bangkok and enjoy an incredible variety of delicious food. Thanks to his guidance, our one-day tour was both enriching and enjoyable. On my next visit, I would love to have Yo arrange another tour for us with a different theme. That said, I regret to share some concerns regarding the room arrangement and communication with the Sales Department. Originally, through our travel agency, we had been informed of a complimentary upgrade option, and we expected to stay in the Author’s Suite. However, upon arrival, we found that our assigned room type was not what we anticipated. According to Henry, the Assistant Director of Sales, there had been a recent internal adjustment in the upgrade hierarchy, which the agency was unaware of, and we only discovered this change at the very last moment. While I acknowledge that the room we received was objectively larger and an upgrade compared to the Author’s Suite—and we appreciate the hotel’s generosity—the way the situation was handled was disappointing.Henry promised to provide us with a booking confirmation the following week. However, weeks have passed without a clear update. Replies have been slow, and in the end, I even experienced messages being left unanswered and readed. This level of follow-up and communication is surprising and difficult to reconcile with the high standards we usually associate with Mandarin Oriental. Normally, whether it is a concierge inquiry or a booking question, responses are always timely. Considering that this was essentially a complaint matter being handled by a senior manager, the lack of clarity and responsiveness was especially concerning. If Henry is too occupied with other priorities, perhaps additional support could be arranged so that such issues are not overlooked. We remain loyal fans of Mandarin Oriental and cherish the warm hospitality we usually receive. I hope this feedback will be taken constructively, as we truly look forward to continuing to stay with Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok in the future.

I loved the hotel. The butlers were absolutely charming - the right balance between discretion and being hands-on. Proactively offering more water as I was obviously interested in whether there was any, and similarly with decaf coffee pods! I loved the pool area and the team there who were very obliging and immediately there to help! Great location and the boats run very regularly. I look forward to recommending this hotel to MANY more guests!

I stayed there before several times. It was a great disappointment compare to previous experiences. Staff was not attentive. We had a baby and pram and there are many stairs to go to the boat service and breakfast. No one bothered to help us.

We recently spent three nights at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, and all I can say is that this hotel has to be the best in the world. From the moment we checked in until the moment we left, we felt completely spoilt. My husband is an MO Pearl member, so we were able to take full advantage of the benefits — including early check-in, late checkout until 4:00 p.m., and complimentary breakfast. And what a breakfast it is! Overlooking the river, the setting is stunning, and the variety and quality of food are second to none. We spent our mornings relaxing by the huge swimming pool and enjoyed leisurely lunches at Verandah (not Vendra), which offers a great choice of both Western and Thai dishes. The bedrooms are beautiful, with wonderful views over the river. I especially love the luxurious bedding, and each room comes with its own butler — a lovely touch, even if you don’t use the service much. In the evenings, we enjoyed drinks at the legendary Bamboo Bar, which has an excellent selection of cocktails, wines, and beers, with impeccable service as always. Dinner at the Thai restaurant on the terrace was equally fabulous — delicious food in a romantic riverside setting. A special mention to Sukanya at the concierge desk, who was simply amazing. I needed help changing an airline booking and had no success online or over the phone. I left my details with Sukanya, and within 30 minutes she had worked her magic and sorted everything out for me. We can’t wait to return to this truly exceptional hotel. Every stay at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is perfection — it really is the best hotel in the world.

The staff is outstanding, especially with kids; they are fantastic, providing excellent service at breakfast, support at the swimming pool, and not to forget the numerous high fives the kids receive while going through the hotel. This was our first visit to a mandarin oriental hotel and we were extremely impressed and hope to visit again. It was the little touches (ice cream at the pool, flowers on arrival) and the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff that made it a cut above other hotels we have stayed in. Room was beautiful and we rarely came back to it without finding something had been tidied or added (I.e. fruit) .Breakfast was vast and tasty. It is an expensive hotel with prices for services on a par with European hotels rather than Thailand prices but it felt very special and we look forward to visiting again one day (we’ve already started saving).

I have stayed at the worlds best hotels all my life, Europe, UAE, and everywhere else. After staying at the mandarin it seems like all the hotels I've stayed in are like trash infront of the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. Example: a small fault happened with the bathroom door (which was like nothing) the staff came and offered free upgrades suites, free nights, etc, I was so overwhelmed that I feared that they might put the hotel on my name. I said constantly I don't need anything it is like nothing and completely fine, but the management insisted on upgrades and free nights, but I kept saying no no no. Then they still sent amazing food dishes in my room and drinks for free as a gesture, like they wanted to go out of the way for me.. I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional experience I had during my recent stay. From the moment I arrived to the moment I departed, everything was truly perfect. This trip was a personal retreat following the loss of a dear family member and the responsibilities of managing their estate. The warmth and kindness shown by your staff, along with the meticulous attention to detail in my room, provided a much-needed sense of comfort and peace during a difficult time. I would especially like to extend my thanks to the front desk team, and to Ms. Pornsawan in particular, for their outstanding service and compassion. Dear Mandarin Oriental Bangkok: I don't know how to describe my experience today to you. If I had to summarize it in one word, I would say I was touched. Before I arrived, I had heard some rumors such as "Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok has regressed". In addition, I didn't receive your reply two days ago, which made my trust in you a little doubtful and shaken. But now I just want to say that those words go to hell! Today's all-day check-in experience was unparalleled. All the staff were full of kindness. I had a happy birthday like a dream. Especially this white lotus fan, this gift is a priceless treasure in a sense for a loyal fan of Mandarin Oriental. I really want to thank every staff member and Henry Cheong. And the self who insisted on celebrating my birthday in my favorite Mandarin Oriental. There is an old saying in China, "If you don't compete for the first place, you will fight endlessly." An exceptional birthday stay! MO Bangkok is just truly exceptional. From the reception through check out, everything was seamless. We stayed in July 2025. This stay was essentially for my late birthday celebration which I had not celebrated due to busy schedule. The MOBKK team was exceptionally wonderful preparing a birthday cake, nice decorations and even a fantastic view of the chao praya river. Indeed on of the best birthday vacations i have ever had. Phimpisuth was a standout when I got my keys. She thoroughly introduced the hotel facilities and even escorted me to my room. We were greeted warmly every where we go. It felt like home. MO in Bangkok is heavenly. I had such a wonderful time during my stay. Service was impeccable, attentive and meticulous. Every floor had a butler stationed next to the lift. Unfortunately, my room was quite closed to the lift and the butler was just outside my room. So when I opened my bedroom door, s/he was there. In some days, I felt too much TLC. The breakfast was sumptuous. It is one of the best I ever had. As part of MO BKK is located across the river, it was kind of troublesome to take the boat to the gym. The access to the closest BTS is also by the river boat. I will definitely come back .

Myself and my family are lucky enough to be able to travel around the world and enjoy amazing experiences and hotels, but nothing comes close to the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. My wife and I first stayed at the hotel 20+ years ago and none of the magic has been lost....if you go to Bangkok and this is potentially an option for a hotel, then I would suggest don't look any further.....incredible....so many happy memories....thank you again to all the staff, who really make the magic of the place!

I stayed here for the first time on August 14, 2025, and I truly regret not coming earlier. For years, I avoided this hotel thinking it was simply an “old property,” always choosing others instead. However, its consistent reputation, Michelin 3-Key recognition, and Forbes 5-Star rating convinced me to finally try it. The result? This is my lifetime favorite hotel. From the moment I arrived by taxi, a gracious gentleman warmly greeted us, reassured us that our luggage would be taken care of, and personally escorted us to the lobby while asking our names and how we were doing. It was the perfect first impression. At the front desk, another gentleman handled our check-in with such courtesy and comfort, even arranging our afternoon tea reservation for the next day. Our butler then welcomed us sincerely and made us feel completely at home. After checkout, we visited the Authors’ Lounge, where we were surprised by a thoughtful celebration of our special occasion—something we never even mentioned. The staff’s constant attention to tea and food made the experience unforgettable. The swimming pools felt like a hidden resort oasis, with both deep and shallow pools available. As always, the staff were attentive and warm. Crossing the river to the gym was another highlight. This was my 4th time staying here, and I've always felt warmly welcomed by the staff from the moment I arrived at the hotel gate. I've always received courteous and respectful treatment, as if I'd returned for a perfect vacation. Including dinner, I was treated with great care by the restaurant staff, both in recommending the menu and choosing the wine. My mother’s day experience with my mom in this beautiful luxury hotel alongside Chao praya river. We request for a twin bed room but got a king bed instead although they tried to put 2 blankets to separate us , it’s still a bit uncomfortable. Anyway the mattress is very comfortable and the bathroom is very nice and convenient toilet which opens with sensors. We especially love the afternoon tea at The Author lounge! It’s so beautiful and all the staffs are so sweet. They give my mom a special cake for Mother’s Day that’s really touching . Thankyou everyone;) . We stay in room no 1227 and the staff team was very attentive and friendly. Thankyou again and wishes all of you a happy Mother’s Day too.

Timeless and just perfect, This is one of a few hotels around the world that I continue to return to again and again. The feeling I get is just as it was on my first visit back in 1998, understated elegance, from the time you walk into the lobby everything just seems better. It's not just the beautful things you can see, it's the small things and attentiaion to detail that make this is a special place. Our 8 year old son (armed with a balloon robot made for him by a clown at breakfast) told us that he didn't want to go out, he wanted to stay in the hotel instead.

We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok in July and loved its sense of place and history. The service is extraordinary and sprinkled with playful touches that made every day feel special: sweet treats by the pool, fresh fruit in our room each afternoon, a cakes-and-pastry stand in the lobby, and even a tucked-away Authors’ Wing lawn and parlor to discover. The hotel’s private ferry makes quick hops across the river — including to ICONSIAM, which turned into a fun afternoon outing for the family. And the riverfront breakfast buffet is one of the best we’ve ever had: an enormous selection, everything delicious, and views that make it hard to leave the table. We had two connecting rooms overlooking the river. They were large, luxurious, and extremely comfortable featuring hardwood floors with beautiful rugs, a colorful, cushy sofa by the window, and spacious bathrooms. We cooled off at the pool every day. The water temperature was perfect and we never had trouble finding chaises. The gym and spa across the river are terrific as well, and getting there on the hotel ferry is part of the charm. A very special thank you to the team for celebrating our son’s birthday. They surprised him by decorating his room with balloons, a cake, and a colorful sign—he was thrilled, and we were touched. The Oriental is a must in Bangkok.

I stayed at the Oriental multiple times during the 90’s and early 2000’s - at that time this was truly a very special place to stay. Sadly we found when returning this year with our teenage daughters the hotel had lost its “polished perfection” Most of the hotel restaurants were closed for the season which left us with very little choice for dinner. We decided to book Lord Jim’s for lunch and the invite family to join us. The hotel decided to add 2000bht per person as it was a bank holiday. Nowhere was this advertised. We cancelled the booking and rebooked for the following day, then be told it was fully booked. After much tooing and froing the hotel honoured the original weekday price and we had an absolutely outstanding lunch in Lord Jim’s. I appreciate them retracting the extra cost however it was quite a stressful situation trying to find somewhere to eat that was open in the hotel. The only negative I had with Lord Jim’s is that we were not told there was some items available to order directly (it was the lunch buffet). When we realised other guests were ordering these special items it was a little late as we were on deserts…..shame we missed out on ordering these special items wagu beef! Our room was just about ready at 3pm although despite being promised the second room was nearly ready we had to wait till 4.30 for access. I very much got the impression from reception that I shouldn’t be complaining as we had one of our rooms ready on time!!!! I’m an early riser and often enjoy a solo coffee before my family arise. I was shocked to be told there was nowhere in the hotel I could order a coffee until after 9am unless I went to breakfast! Not really five star service, especially when I saw a group of businessmen being served coffee and juice metres away! Breakfast was disappointing, whilst i understand a buffet breakfast will never be exceptional in terms of quality and service it was disappointing to find coffee ordered at seating was not delivered until we had finished eating. Plates were not cleared until I u asked and generally this was not a pleasant place to eat breakfast. To be clear the Oriental is still a wonderful hotel but it has lost that old school luxury vibe

Hi I was expecting abit more from my MO stay. Unfortunately, the standard wasn’t met. The breakfast service wasn’t great. The servers did not even tell us where the main buffet is, and we were not informed of the eggs menu, also the kombucha ran out before the service ends! Very poor standard and service in my opinion. The room service was also very substandard. For a 5 star hotel of this caliber, we expect some bites with turn down service but none. The butler also attempted to take back the ‘elephant’ stuff toy that we saw as we were told that it is for kids. Seriously! Overall very petty service. Unlikely to recommend or visit again.

Our booking was done quite close to the actual stay and the hotel was already quite full. The team went above and beyond to confirm our reservation. We had asked for F&B recommendations and an extra bed for our daughter which everything was answered swiftly. To our pleasant surprise we were also upgraded to a corner room and we were greeted with a special anniversary cake waiting for us on arrival. Our dinner restaurants on both nights also treated us with desserts with happy Anniversary on them. We felt very well looked after, all the staff was super friendly with our kids. The Gym just started renovations so there was a smaller gym available. The breakfast was scrumptious! I had a Muay Thai class which was great and we enjoyed the river rides throughout the day to get to different parts of the hotel. Overall a fantastic stay and we will be back. Thank you MO!

Come back for the third time, and shall I say, it was another exceptional stay! I registered early around 9 am and was warmly welcomed by the ever smiling Khun Sirinan. She was very professional and kind. Her demeanour suits well with the Mandarin Oriental brand. Although it was my first time seeing her, it was a very light feeling throughout the conversation. She was able to offer an early check in which was so kind of her, but i kindfully declined due to my request of a higher floor which she did accomodated so well! Thank you Khun Sirinan for the nice room🫶🏼 This stay was meant for the late celebration of my friends birthday. Due to busy sched, we only got to go on this trip this time. The MOBKK team was generous to arrange a birthday cake and a simple flower petal decoration with some towel swans which my friend was deeply touched and happy! We were very touched receiving a welcome back handwritten note from no other than the Deputy General Manager himself, Mr. Alex Huels! Felt indeel like a VIP with that special touch. Thank you Mr. Huels! I also got to see familiar faces such as Khun Phimpisuth who was still very energetic and calm. We had a little catch up and small chats aross our stay which was very nice! She remembered me the same way as i remembered her. She also managed to help book a reservation at the Verandah even though it was a last minute request! Kudos Khun Phimpisuth! I also got to meet again Ms. Phoangdao. She saw me being assisted by khun Sirinan during check in and she immediately said hello to me upon noticing me. It felt like i really was coming back to my home during that time. The food at the breakfast and also dinner at verandah was tremendously good! I loved our four night stay at this exceptional hotel. The staff everywhere in the hotel were amazing. From the excellent advice and recommendations of the concierge to the friendly efficient service at the reception, around the pool and at the pier. We were also impressed in a hotel with 567 rooms that our butler and a member of the pool staff knew our names. The staff member at the pier was memorable in his warm enthusiasm. We would definitely return to The Mandarin Oriental.

This is the grand dame of Bangkok and lived up to the hype. Whether you are just wanting straight opulence or you are trying to recreate a White Lotus moment, this is the place. Breakfast on the river with every food you can imagine…Bamboo Bar cocktails are on another level. Only issue with our whole stay is that the Bamboo Bar has a pretty strict dress code ie slacks and collar so don’t plan on running in right off of the plane for a drink. Minor annoyance. Place is quiet in the midst of crazy and is a short boat ride from everything. I’d rather travel by boat than car any day in Bangkok.

A sad sad hodgepodge of eastern block buildings that trades on its iconic status and is less a hotel than a venue for tourists, weddings, and the all important revenue stream of residences across the river. Have a drink at the bamboo bar for 30$ and head on your way. Do not stay in their rooms that look like shiplap and wayfair turquoise discounted furnishings.

After a year away, I finally returned to Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok. Although I spent four full days here during my last stay—barely leaving the hotel—I still left feeling like I hadn’t had enough. So, from six months ago, I’d already been eagerly looking forward to this return visit. Watching The White Lotus also got me even more excited about this trip! And once again, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok never disappoint anyone. GRO's Mayuree and Tanguy were incredibly helpful throughout our stay—from pre-arrival arrangements to even after checkout—offering us travel suggestions and warm assistance. Thank you so much for inviting us to the cocktail party; it was a shame it ended up being canceled, but I truly hope I’ll be lucky enough to be invited again next time. Our room was amazing. I absolutely loved the petal fan thoughtfully placed in our room by the housekeeping team. The service throughout our stay was outstanding, and in my opinion, the butler team at MO Bangkok remains the best among 12 Mandarin Oriental properties in Asia of my stays. Breakfast was phenomenal—so many options that we couldn’t possibly try everything! I especially loved the coconut juice and the beautiful presentation of the fruit platter, which wasn’t just delicious but also a visual treat. Despite the large number of breakfast guests, the staffing was well-balanced, and service was always immediate and attentive. I especially appreciated the farewell fruit platter I received on our last morning—it truly touched me. It was my second time having the Author’s Lounge afternoon tea, and once again, I was deeply impressed by the refined and elegant atmosphere, warm service, and exquisite selection. I could easily spend the whole day there. The team members who served us even helped with restaurant reccomendation we hadn’t thought of—thank you so much for their thoughtful assistance. The pier and boat staff were incredibly friendly. Every boat ride was filled with warmth thanks to their cheerful energy. The pool team was equally impressive. A special thanks to the lifeguard who, knowing I wasn’t confident in the water, suggested I practice in the shallow pool and kindly prepared a life vest so I could try swimming in the deeper area. It was also fun chatting with two of them, who said they’ll be visiting Taiwan later this year—I hope they have a wonderful trip! Also, a big thanks to the lovely lady at the concierge desk on our first night, who patiently explained the yoga class offerings, helped me sign up, and shared information about nearby convenience stores and supermarkets. Joining two days consecutive yoga sessions was definitely worthwhile. I’m grateful to the yoga instructor and gym staff for their support. Sadly, I didn’t have much time to enjoy the other facilities this trip, but I’ll be sure to make more time next visit. Kinu by Takagi was exceptional—delicious food and wonderfully kind service. The chef was especially passionate and recommended two amazing sakes, which we enjoyed so much that we ended up finishing the entire bottle without realizing! I was also thrilled to have the opportunity to speak Japanese with someone during our stay. I’ll definitely come back for another meal next time I visit. At Sala Rim Naam, Kiki and the entire team were also fantastic. The new show was excellent, and although the menu hasn’t changed much, the food is so good that I never tire of it. I loved the photo opportunity segments in the show—it was so special to take photos with the performers and make those memories. Overall, this birthday holiday in Thailand brought me so much happiness and satisfaction. We spent nearly all our time in the hotel because it has everything we needed—restaurants, activities, and incredible service. Even after four days, we still didn’t manage to experience everything. I truly hope to return again very soon.

We had a bad experience with this stay for the following reasons 1. There was a sewing kit that someone else had opened when we entered the room 2. There was a whole roll of wet toilet paper next to the toilet 3. We ordered coconut water for breakfast many times but it was never delivered 4. The bath salts were hard and hard and could not be poured out, and the bottom was yellow 5. The water in the bathtub flowed very slowly and made strange noises 6. The cake for my baby’s birthday was so yummy, Dinner in verandah was outstanding, one of the best mushroom soups ever I had .. My wife also enjoyed her vegetarian dishes. Breakfast was so great on the riverfront.. Smile on all staff serving was delight to see, which is missing in almost every hotel nowadays.. Overall amazing and the best hotel stay for us. The room had an amazing view of the Chao Phraya River, and the service was the best we’ve ever experienced. I proposed to my partner on the first day of our trip, with the sunset over the river as our backdrop, it was one of the most beautiful moments of our lives. We had two more nights after to enjoy our short post-proposal vacation. During our stay, we took a boat ride along the river, had afternoon tea at the Author’s Lounge, and spent an evening listening to jazz at the Bamboo Bar. I personally think the hotel has all you need for a vacation and would definitely comeback every year.

Disappointed with several elements at such a highly inflated price point. The Service in the restaurant by the river was incredibly slow. Don’t allow staff to use the excuse “it’s busy” when you claim to be a 5 star hotel it’s not good enough. The food was average at this price point but the lasagne was dangerously hot. Staff were consistently indifferent. Bamboo Bar drinks were good but they should have been magical at the prices they charge. Staff in the Bamboo Bar were excellent but a little too quick to tell my well dressed well behaved 16 year old daughter that she had to leave at 7:30. She is a jazz performer in her own right and I did explain we were here for the music and some cocktails for the adults. We were still told to leave. The jazz at the Saxophone Pub down the road was better anyway so no loss. I can see why this is such an iconic property but it is grossly overrated compare with the Peninsula, 4 Seasons and even the Banyan Tree all of which had much better service during our time in Thailand. We saved this one until last as we expected much more.

Despite having visited Thailand for many times, we’ve still opted for Bangkok as the destination for our most recent sojourn - as we haven’t stayed at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok before. Differentiating from the newly developed hotels in the city, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is Thailand’s oldest hotel - with nearly 150 years of history, and with a prestigious status in Thailand similar to The Peninsula in Hong Kong. Elegantly standing on the shore of Chao Phraya River for more than a century, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is home to Thailand’s first ever elevator and a well preserved European styled Authors’ Wing. Despite having a prime location at the city centre, the hotel is very spacious and extends across the river, connected by their vintage private boats. The State Room we’ve chosen this time is the largest non-suite room in the hotel. Locating at the corner of the floor, the room has a 270-degree panoramic view of the scenery of Chao Phraya River and Bangkok’s cityscape - the best way to enjoy the view is to lounge on the room’s private balcony. The room was also where we could indulge ourselves in traditional Thai vibes: teakwood, silk and vintage decorations. Hospitality is what the hotel is proud of: at the moment we started our vacation here, we were given a braclet made of orchid, symbol of the Land of Smile, by the hotel manager when checking in; as the hotel is not close to any railway station, private boats are provide to connect the hotel to various tourist spots in the city; the airport transfer service features a limousine with massage chairs and TVs.

We specifically came back to Bangkok to once again stay at the Mandarin Oriental! The hotel grounds, restaurants, Bamboo Bar, personalised service, rooms, gym and pool are all wonderful. After staying in the city for three nights, moving to this hotel feels like moving to an oasis. Special mention to the staff at the bamboo bar for remembering our preferred cocktails and giving us a small gift on our last night and to the team at the verandah restaurant for excellent service! The bathroom amenities are like no other, especially the bath salts.

I typically go for the the high ends that most US travelers know like Ritz, Four Seasons and Peninsula but my 84 yr old dad has memories and dreams of the Oriental hotel growing up while in the rice fields of Thailand. And WOW did it impress and yes, we’ve been back a few times now. Old school charm with modern/high end service. The breakfast buffet will NOT disappoint even for the pickiest eater. Be prepared for all the influencers and rich westerners all trying to prove how important they are (sorry!) but the staff clearly has been trained to handle this with grace, class and knowing there is someone always more important 😆. Thx so much for an unforgettable visit (my last visit before my mom passed away). Such amazing memories, service, hospitality and grace. Maria - the best butler I’ve had and I’ve had a few. As a first time guest at any Mandarin Oriental hotel anywhere in the world it’s safe to say I am a fan! The view and breakfast are brilliant, the boat across to the spa and shopping a treat, the rooms and service are next level and the swimming pool was the perfect temperature. We ate lunch and it was brilliant. We hoped to try the traditional dinner and show but ran out of nights! The drinks in the bamboo bar and the extra snacks we could order even though not on the menu a treat! The quality throughout was exceptional there were just two area for improvement (and 1 is a preference!) 1) those electronic toilets are unnecessary! Having a warm toilet seat in a hot climate is very unpleasant. Also the constant hissing and spraying of water as you go near even to have a shower becomes tiresome. 2) your spa water facilities are not up to the same high standards after in your hotel. The jacuzzi is too hot and the steam room is too small. Look at any top end spa and take inspiration- outdoor jacuzzi with beds, tiled steam room with scents and a sauna with a view are the basics these days. Finally the couple treatment room was a nice touch - in the traditional mat based treatments when lying on your front the head rest is insufficient to have proper breathing room. Use a table with a hole for a more comfortable experience . Genuinely I have high standards and otherwise loved the stay

We stayed from the 24th June for 3 nights in room 604 with incredible view of the chaophraya river from our balcony. The hotel really is spectacular. Our room was exceptionally beautiful. Housekeeping is second to none. They clean with care rather than just simply making your bed. The staff at reception , the concierge are very helpful with any questions you may have. There is a boat every hour that takes you straight to the huge iconsiam shopping mall which we used everyday. Just wonderful. Only downside was the fitness centre - quite old and run down . The fitness centre and spa at the kl mandarin much better equipped and newer. That said I would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you to the team for providing such a pleasurable stay. We will definitely be back!

Booked one night for fun in Bangkok, the location is perfect, directly across from the large mall. Free Boat service back and forth. Our room 15th floor Mandarine suite, was exceptional. This hotel does not miss a thing from the smallest details. Dinner at the Italian restaurant was great. Lorenzo was our Waiter, and he did a superb job. I would highly recommend this Hotel, and plan on staying again.

We recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok for a 3 day vacation in August, and I must say, it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and efficient, making the check-in process a breeze. Our room was immaculate, with a breathtaking view of the city and the river view. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the modern bathroom featured a rain shower that was perfect after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel's amenities were top-notch. We particularly enjoyed the pool and the spa, where we had a relaxing massage. The on-site restaurant served some of the best meals we've had, with a diverse menu that catered to all tastes including vegan and vegetarian . The musical Thailand show with dinner was amazing. They made our anniversary special with an exotic fruit platter. The location was ideal, just a short boat ride from the ICONSIAM mall making it easy to shop. What truly set this hotel apart, though, was the customer service. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, and eager to ensure we had the best stay possible. A special shoutout to the concierge team and Visah* ( I forgot her full name) for their excellent restaurant recommendations. Overall, our stay at the Mandarin hotel in Bangkok was nothing short of amazing. We can't wait to return and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bangkok.

Le Mandarin Oriental est une référence à Bangkok. Le petit déjeuner au lit coûte 1600 baths (41 €), et à ce prix là on attend plus que quelques viennoiseries, une boisson aux légumes et des céréales. Un cappuccino aurait été bienvenue en plus, avec par exemple accompagné d'un bâton de cannelle. On est au Mandarin non ? Un cocktail maison n'aurait pas été de trop. Quand on est sorti et qu'on est revenu 2 heures plus tard, rien n'avait été débarrassé encore alors qu'il y a un majordome à chaque étage. Pour cela je ne mettrais pas la note maximale, peut encore mieux faire. Maintenant il y a d'autres avantages et malgré cela je conseille, c'est une expérience unique que de passer une nuit au Mandarin Oriental

Nothing was too much bother. They even thought of little things before we had even consider it. Also they did things which we did not ask when they saw it was a special birthday. Very very memorable and a birthday that will be remembered forever. Thank you.

We had an AMAZNG TIME. When we arrive the staff welcomed us warmly and knew that we were returning after 20 years! I had a knew accident and they had a doctor come immediately and set me up at a fabulous local hospital where i got A+ treatment -- and wheni returned there were flowers in the room with a Get well card signed by the staff. We had a wonderful time and were treated like family. Thanks so much! We lover the Oriental!

This is my dream hotel. Hotel is very clean and you can find everything you need. The ferry departure every 30 minutes to the shopping center. The staff were very welcoming. This is a very high-end hotel that can meet your every need.

After a two day stay, I agree that this is as good as any other. Every aspect of the experience surpassed my expectations of a 5-star hotel. The property itself ( the amazing attention to design features, the condition of the property, the appreciation of the rich history, the amazing food preparation and presentation, the location), and the incredible service staff. Certainly not cheap but definitely worth the cost for discriminating travelers. Don’t settle for less!

Photos are a big scam, the property is extremely old and beat up. Don’t believe the photos you see! I rarely leave a bad review, but I had to warn everyone else. Management team are rude and horrible people. This hotel is doesn’t understand the international service standards. Also there is a lot of gender based discrimination. I couldn’t even stay there for one more day. Save your trip and book at the peninsula or Four Seasons just a few min away, it’ll be the best decision you’ve ever made.

The property is nothing but amazing! The room is so comfortable and well decorated and furnished. I love how amazing everything was set in place and above all, I realized that was the first Mandarin Oriental ever built and that gave us some excitement as the building was almost 145 years old! This is an OMG hotel! We stayed for two nights and will definitely be coming back in the near future!

We enjoyed our stay it was superb. The staff was amazing. The only issue we had is with the hotel boat shuttle to the shopping mall which is scheduled hourly, it should be half hourly instead as the other hotels.

The only downside is that we found out about on-going renovations (including pool and outdoor restaurants closed) 1 day prior to our arrival (it was not mentioned on your site); nevertheless, the hotel made a lot of efforts to ensure our stay was wonderful - and it has been! This hotel paid amazing attention to detail. It is beautiful and well-kept. I am very concerned with cleanliness, and this is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. We ate at the outdoor restaurant overlooking the river every day of our stay and the food was consistently delicious. The staff was very attentive throughout the entire hotel. This was truly a five-star experience.

Fabulous hotel! We arrived early on a flight from Osaka, we were given an early check in at 6.30 am. On the day of our departure we were able to keep our room until 3pm. The hotel is full of beautiful orchid displays. TrueType a wonderful experience.

Great stay in Bangkok, staff was great as were facilities. Cigar lounge, Bamboo Bar with singer, restaurants, fitness center, pool and spa were all first rate with wonderful and friendly service. Room was charming, with lots of storage space and terrific view. One of the best at which we’ve ever stayed.

I was very happy at your hotel staying. If I add my opinion about your hotel, 1.room furniture looks a little old and outdated. 2.Lord Jim buffet needs better dessert. 3.Le Normandie needs to look more opulant(furniture,carpet,lighting etc.) Old and authentic looking water and fabulous looking waitress Foods were wonderful,I wonder why this restaurant did not get Michelin 3 star.

Just hard to top this hotel. Excellent continous water shuttle to gym. Great food for business dinners. Super staff with great attention to detail. Helpful concierge team. A top 5 Mandarin hotel in world. Easily. Only reason it is not a clear number 1, is that the newest properties like MOMAC in Macau, for example, have optimized, perfect new modern rooms, that are hard to beat. These BKK Mandarin rooms are just a bit dated. But that is part of their charm. So do not hesitate to stay here. The history and old school service overcome any minor imperfections.
