Le lit était confortable et le petit-déjeûner très bon et agréable par la vue incroyable depuis le 8e étage.
Cons: Pour un 5 étoiles, le service n'est pas à la hauteur. Nous avons dû attendre presque 17:00 pour avoir notre chambre alors qu'elle aurait dû être prête à 16:00. Nous avons donc attendu au bar du rez où il faisait froid pendant 45 minutes sans que personne ne nous apporte les clés de la chambre contrairement à ce que la réceptionniste nous avait dit. Une fois dans la chambre, une gouvernante est venue prépare le canapé-lit des enfants. Au fond du canapé-lit, les sangles qui soutiennent le matelas étaient cassées et la matelas passait au fond. Nous avons dû demander à la réception que ça soit réparé.

Stayed 3 days in suite room and standard room. I have never seen a sofitel like this one. The room is very old, the carpet old and brown, and the rooms are dark. That said, the river view from our room was lovely, and that was the highlight for me. The bed was also a proper Sofitel bed, soft topper, supportive mattress, soft comfy sheets. I didn’t sleep well the first night, partly because we checked in late and the room felt old and dark, but I slept very well the following nights. The lobby area is nice and new. The staffs are helpful. Had christmas dinner at les 3 domes, food was ok, i was expecting better as i heard it used to be a michelin restaurant. Breakfast was ok, too many people for too little restaurant. Love the restaurant view. Went to the lounge at night and the view is nicer than that in the restaurant. I searched the reviews and saw that they have renovated rooms, but i asked and the reception said there were none as the hotel are waiting for renovation. it will be a very good Sofitel when it is renovated.

Cons: Chambre très vieillissante ainsi que les couloirs, nous avions une chambre sûrement non rénovée mais elle n’était pas à la hauteur d’un 5 étoiles. Plinthes qui se décrochaient, traces sur les murs, odeur de poussière, meubles abîmés… cela était décevant. Mais la salle du petit déjeuner et le hall d’accueil sont biens. Le parking est beaucoup trop exigu, il ne faut vraiment pas avoir une grosse voiture il est très difficile de se garer.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! I'm shocked that this hotel has 5 stars. It should be more like a 2 star hotel. Even our Uber driver from the airport recommended the Marriott over this hotel an we should have taken his advice! The rooms are in a desperate need of renovation and the service is the worst I have every experienced. We paid for a suite and were given a room with old carpet and stains on the carpet and furniture. On top of all of this, there was a leak in the the bathroom and my friend slipped and fell resulting in a huge bruise on her leg! We notified the hotel immediately and they wouldn't send anyone to address the problem until the next day. They were unable to fix the leak and eventually had to move us to another room. There was no apology and all they offered us was drinks at their bar for all the inconvenience. We don't even drink! Suffice to say, if you are planning a trip to Lyon, stay far away from this hotel. Stay at the InterContinental just down the street and at a better price!

We love Sofitels and stay in them regularly, all over Europe, but the Lyon Sofitel is urgently in need of total refurbishment. The state of the bedrooms is disgraceful - heavily scuffed, dirty and stained wallpaper, scuffed elderly furniture and multiple maintenance issues. The rooms look as if they haven’t been redecorated for at least 30 years - there are also insufficient plugs for charging electronic items. Such a shame as the staff are lovely and very professional, the location is perfect, breakfast delicious and there is a very nice bar on the top floor with stunning views. Hence the 3 star review as all these other things are 5 star, but the bedroom was very much a one star experience.

We chose Sofitel Bellecour Lyon because it is advertised as a 5-star hotel and we were there to celebrate a birthday, but unfortunately our experience was far from that standard. The overall impression is that the hotel is stuck in the past. Much of the furniture looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 70s, which might be charming in theory, but here it just felt tired and outdated. The most disappointing part was the state of the bathroom: peeling ceiling, visible black mold, and an overall feeling of neglect. For a hotel carrying the Sofitel brand and 5-star rating, this was unacceptable. On top of that, we had an unpleasant surprise with the so-called “welcome drink.” We received digital vouchers in the All Accor app, but apparently Accor’s policy is to issue them only for one room, even if you book multiple rooms. As we were traveling with our children and had reserved two rooms, this meant that when we all went for the welcome drink, we had to pay out of pocket for two of the drinks. We raised the issue with staff but were told that “nothing can be done” as it’s company policy. For a hotel of this level, such inflexibility feels petty and unwelcoming. Overall, our stay did not meet expectations. The Sofitel name and 5-star rating raise expectations of comfort, service, and quality, but sadly this hotel delivered none of those. We would not stay here again.

This is my favorite hotel in Lyon. I have stayed there half a dozen times. Can't beat the location on the river and easy access to dining. Also, as a dog owner, I love that there is a dog park half a block away and a large green space at the end of the same block. The staff is always helpful and friendly. No need to look further, this is THE place to stay in Lyon.

The shower was in the bath and badly positioned with water running everywhere. The electric blinds made noise all night and despite multiple calls to reception no one came. Ordered room service it was cold and the fries were missing the tray was handed to me at the door. Again no one rectified the issue when I called down. Overall my experience was not great

We were there in very hot weather and the airconditioning in the room and the rooftop restaurant were very good. Our room facing the river with roadway in between was surprisingly quiet due to double windows. Rooftop restaurant (Les 3 Domes) was very impressive with floor to ceiling glass and impressive views of the old city, the river, and the newer city. Mid-century deluxe decor. Very good food and we enjoyed dinner there twice. Location is excellent with the luxury Intercontinental hotel and "Grand Dome" complex 1 block away. The main pedestrian shopping zone is 2 blocks away and is great for people watching and shopping. Restaurants are all around the pedestrian zone offering a wide range of choices within walking distance.We were able to spend 3 nights there while only walking. Parking isn't cheap (about Eu30 night) but the valet parking garage under the hotel is extremely convenient and safe. In summary we would certainly stay in this hotel on our next vist. It offers a near perfect balance of convenience, quality, and value.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel. Not only was it an excellent location (in between the Rue Victor Hugo and Rue de la République and near Vieux Lyon), but the service was exceptional. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The icing on the cake was the turn down service. We would absolutely return!

A tired but well functioning Sofitel located next to the river in the city. Lobby area is well maintained but assigned room is showing its age. Check-in was efficient and professional. Assigned room (corner) was bright and of good size for an European hotel. Furniture is typical for the chain but showing its age which in some instances were unsightly. Everything worked as expected, viz, temperature control, wifi. There are sufficient electrical outlets for the many peripherals that this customer hosts. Shower provides good pressure but it requires stepping into a bathtub that is rather high and therefore posing a hazard for the less coordinated. Layout of the toilet is awkward - it is placed too close to the bath tub that I suspect makes it less than ideal for taller clients. Breakfast on the 8th floor was reasonable but service was chaotic and a little grating. I saw the staff admonishing a client who made an error in her seating location and I had to wait an unreasonable period for my order of a beverage; I received it after I finished the meal. But overall - a reasonable establishment - perhaps commensurates with the rates charged.

My husband and I recently stayed one night at the Sofitel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel location is perfect - centrally located to old town with beautiful views of the river. The staff is professional and very helpful. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. The restaurant is on the top floor and has amazing views. The food was quite good. My only negative would be that dinner was very expensive. We would definitely stay here again if we are back in Lyon but probably would eat dinner elsewhere.

I was a regular guest before Covid and this is the first visit since then. I was here for 4 days and had to request a move from the first room as it was unworkable in the bathroom, and I felt quite unsafe. I had a knee injury so had requested a room close to the lift. However, apart from the entire fitout being well past it's useby date, with awful yellow varnished tatty tables and tv shoved in a corner, the bathroom was unsafe, even if I had not injured my knee, I would not have felt comfortable using this bathroom (I think it was 605 or 603). Please Sofitel, refit your rooms. 3rd floor was okay, but the rooms are looking sad and old.

We love this hotel and normally stay around 4 times a year on our way to and from our home in the South of France. It makes for the perfect city break en-route. The rooms are lovely and the staff are always very friendly and go out of their way to ensure that everything is perfect. Breakfast on the 8th floor is always spectacular, particularly if you are lucky enough to be served by Gregory who offers exceptional service and will make sure that you are well looked after. We will be returning to this hotel in June. I very much recommend it.

We’ve driven through Lyon many times before but decided this time that we would stop and make a city trip out of it. Chose this hotel because of its excellent location, within easy walking distance to the old town and being conveniently located close to the A7 main road to get in and out of the city. There was ample parking underneath the hotel and the hotel lifts are available down to that level. Another reason was the famed panoramic views from the top floor restaurant and bar. The first time we went there for breakfast, we were just blown away by the views, stretching from the west the Basilic Notre Dame de Fourvière atop the old town through the rooftops of the historic part of the city, then overlooking the Rhone river and further onto the modern city in the east. The breakfast buffet itself was excellent, including the local pralines. We had the superior room which admittedly shows its age and lacks USB charge points for mobile devices. Despite that, I particularly liked the walk in wardrobe/dressing which helped me to declutter the room and the excellent quality TV streaming which was easy to set up and operate. Above all, it was a pleasure to be served by the hotel staff, from the front desk to those in the restaurant and bar as well as the cleaning staff, all of whom were friendly, helpful and professional.

We had planned on staying here after we found this place on our last visit to Lyon. We were staying up the street and knew this place had a sky bar. We had experienced stellar service and food the last time we were here. On this visit we stayed in the hotel and the service/staff were impeccable and very helpful & courteous at all times! The sky bar experience was a serious let down. The cheese board that was one of the most incredible I had ever had was no more. They had little finger bowls full of nots and the rest of the menu left something to be desired. Plus they had live music! I couldn't even hear myself think! I did not come to France to hear American songs while I tried to relax. The singer was good! Just too loud! We left! Went up the street to the Le Sud Brasserie and had an amazing, quiet meal that was simply incredible! (see sep review). I would possibly stay at the hotel again if I knew the bar was different than this visit. Apart from that a nice central place to stay! Thanks!

The service is top notch, the steam room and pressure shower in the spa is available for no extra cost, the panoramic view at the restaurant is spectacular, great location, in short absolutely what you would expect. The only areas of improvement we could find is that the interior in the room shows sign of wear and tear, and several of the work out equipment in the gym did not work as they were not connected to electricity. You will not go much wrong with this hotel!

the Hotel location is excellent in the heart of Lyon. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was served in a room with terrific views of the city an the food was extensive with both a buffet & al a carte.

Cons: vue moyenne, et la salle de bain était aménagée pour fauteuil roulant, ce qui n'est pas mon cas, je comprends bien le pourquoi de ces aménagements mais pour moi ça n'avait pas de sens, et ça revient à arroser les WC et toute la salle de bain en prenant une douche. Alors que les photos me promettait une belle salle de bain où me relaxer. On m'a dit que c'était la dernière chambre dispo, je le comprends... mais il aurait fallu me le dire avant et j'aurais pris un autre hotel

La chambre étais spacieuse et très confortable Le ménage est parfait et la salle de bain impeccable ! Par contre ce que j'ai moin aimé c'est la climatisation et le chauffage qui est difficile à régler il fait très chaud ou très froid ! Le personnel est professionnel !

Excellente experience,tout était parfait! Merci à Maxime (room service) qui était souriant,serviable et très aimable ainsi que Pauline et Grégory à la récéption qui étaient très accueillants. La chambre était très belle avec une merveilleuse vue sur la rivière!

Enjoyed an excellent stay in the Sofitel Bellecour. Ideally located for exploring the beautiful & fascinating city of Lyon. The highlights of the hotel? The staff who were without exception professional, courteous and eager to please. The restaurant on the 8th floor provides wonderful panoramic views of the city and River Rhone and the breakfasts we enjoyed there on a daily basis provided a great start to the day. The staff were, in my view, exceptional.

Égal à l’hôtel que j’ai connu en 1990 ´91et ‘92 Aucun investissement, rénovation, intérieurs vraiment pourquoi ce nom de Sofitel, vraiment usurpé dans cette état 😡 A l’extérieur idem vieux, sale, entrée minable pour le nom Sofitel. Fermeture 2 années et rénovation en profondeur pour porter le nom Sofitel sous Ah oui, passez par la porte des garages, bonne chance les carrosseries !

Nice staff and lovely rooms. The breakfast room is gorgeous, although gets crowded at peak hours. The lobby and lobby bar however are VERY VERY cold, making it impossible to spend any time there. We were so disappointed in comparison to other Sofitels. We went as a group of a couple of rooms, and there was no place to sit together and relax; we would have hoped to spend time in the lobby or the lobby bar.

Cons: El hotel es demasiado antiguo y necesita reformas el confort no corresponde al precio. El espacio de agua del SPA es viejo y insuficiente el Hamam muy antiguo.

Cons: L’incompétence de la personne à l’accueil qui m’a indiqué que l’on ne pouvait pas payer le parking extérieur à distance afin de me forcer de prendre le parking à 30 E dans votre établissement. Dès 0800 du matin les officiers de la mairie alignaient les voitures.N’ayant aucune confiance avec la jeune femme de l’accueil, je décidais de retourner à ma voiture et je découvrais le réseau Flowbird . Et tout naturellement, je payais avec le réseau en ligne. Malgré votre très bel établissement très bien tenu, je me pose encore des questions à savoir si je reviendrai .

The location and the breakfast esp the views. Our room was nice and also liked that our mini bar was replenished daily and was for free. The staff were mostly friendly although some didn’t speak great English
Cons: The building was so dated as were many of the common areas. The room service menu was average in term s of Choice and things were not often available and the prices were expensive for the offering . Not a lot of flexibility in the offering either ie mot everything was available all the time. The bar upstairs was also average and staff not very frienrly. The aircon /heating was were super noisy and kept us up a lot .
